Hopes for a darker future

Recommended Posts

So right now i think DayZ just looks and acts too silly, will it be any scarier and bloodier in SA?

The zombies are just gray-skinned people in perfectly intact farmers clothing rather than being more believable zombies, having giant chunks of meat missing from their bodies with clothes that have rip marks and stains all over them.

And the sounds are just cartoony, the zombies sound constipated and high-pitched, and because of that they are also annoying to listen to rather than scary, and when they hit you it sounds like someone smacking a beanbag chair against a piece of wood, and they also shouldn't be smacking you at all, they should be clawing and biting, and when your character breaks their leg they sound like they only stubbed their toe.

Lastly is obviously the environment, the most decrepit and degraded thing about the area around you are exploded cars (Zombies have explosives?) and small piles of rubble and rebar.

The blood curdling screams when you are being eaten are pretty dark if you ask me

Go look at the Dev Blogs silly... everything is different.

I dunno... when I break my leg is sounds like someone crushed my femur.

Snapkicking young kids to the face sounds exactly the same.

I know that there are a couple different sounds for leg breaking, maybe I just always get the stupid one the very soft and quiet "Augh :(" is usually what escapes my characters mouth

It is a zombie apocalypse, fear is an essential factor, as it creates this adrenaline Edited by Ziliphade

Zombies are 28 days later Type, not the Walking Dead type.

Exactly, and it is supposed to be ultra realistic, so the their bodies SHOULD begin to degrade and deform Edited by Ziliphade

I'm hoping there will be more eery sights and scenes in the standalone. Such as stumbling across a car wreck with torn up rotting bodies on the side of the road, that sort of thing. I want the map to feel abandoned and hopeless.

Except the 28 Days Later zombies aren't dead, so their bodies wouldn't deform any more than a normal cannibal's.

I'm glad we don't have this type of silly zombie...

Well the silly zombie is the kind I'm talking but just not... well silly.

I agree it could look and sound better, but dude, it's alpha.

Wait for all the new art and animations the standalone will bring, then we can pass judgement and make suggestions.

But, again, the zombies in DayZ aren't actually zombies, just infected people. So it wouldn't make sense for their bodies to deteriorate.

I just want to see zombies rip people piece by piece. Removing inards, and practically peel you away like an orange. That way you have open flesh wounds, which visible, and treatable (Hopefully bandages are visible also).

So finally when you get up to a dead player, he is just mangled and destroyed. Maybe the zombies will take his legs and you can't have anything that was in his pants pockets. He would just be a torso with intestines out. That would be glorious for this game, it really needs to start getting a tad darker.

I want to make sweet passionate moist necrophiliac love to a zombie. Chop chop, rocket. Make it happen.

It COULD make perfect sense, the infection could also be skin-eating, the "zombies" wouldn't fall apart enough to where their organs wouldn't be able to keep them mobile but they would still have things coming off, chunks of skin, limbs, eyeballs etc.

I'm glad someone understands (Not trying to be biased to... well myself.)

Maybe, but I think infections would kill them off very quickly if that were the case. It would be a very short zombie apocalypse.

I said that it wouldn't go beyond making them none-functioning, but the body would start to let things go because of some scientificy reason and that would make them look more brutal.

You know it's a MOD right? Meaning that it utilizes most assets from another game which has NOTHING to do with zombies. Perhaps if it was a total conversion, you may have a point, but it's not.

Didnt Rocket said those zombies are indeed, zombies? not infected. Zombies. Deads Walking.

So they should look more like zombies imho...

Although I know the details of this will never happen, I can't help but let myself go. The game should be darker.

I asked if it would change in the SA, and then presented why it was bad now. So yes, it is.
