Are All "Hackers" Bad?

Recommended Posts

Xcom Enemy Unkown, I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Don't Starve is shaping up nicely too. There is loads but I really can't be arsed to list them TBH. I agree there's a lot of games that can be completed in 10 hours and for some games that suits them, not every game in the world has to be an epic. If you actually have a look properly there's just so many games that have more depth that you can spend hundreds of hours with.

Anything else come out since 2010 that takes more than 10 hours to beat? (that has a storyline and isn't an endless sandbox)

Haven't played the most recent parts, but the final fantasy series used to be extremely long.

I only remember playing part 8, about 80hours of gameplay.

But in general I agree.. I was through tombraider on the 2nd day. 97% of all hidden objects the same evening. And multiplayer just sucks. In general a great game with good story and atmosphere, but considering what they could have done, it's just the bare minimum. And having a "has bought every DLC in store"-Achievement on Steam is just ridiculous....

I have 100% TF2 achievements, among several other games. (not super proud...)

Tombraider's multiplayer felt like a vs mode for Far Cry 3.

Final Fantasy is only long because it takes 10 minutes to do one attack, and the storyline isn't very good. I don't like it's brand of "Fantasy" (it's more like a Rubber SciFi flick + fireballs). I was the only person that wasn't sad to see Useless McWhore get stabbed in the stomach by her poorly drawn lover. There's zero character development and nothing really fun about it. You grind for 99999999999999999k levels, only to die in one hit on the final boss anyway.

Talking about character development, though, FC3 did it very well, although it took me a long time to realize it. At first, I kept thinking, "How the hell is Jason so good at stealth/knives/sniping without training?" but ignored it for the sake of fun... but then there's the level where you take a flamethrower to the Marijuana plantation and Jason shows how he goes from sniffling lost soul to badass.

And then there's a sex scene and you die >.>

^Sounds like your refering to Final Fantasy 7 and if you have leveled up loads then the only thing that could possible 1 hit kill you is the 'weapons' which are not the last boss. Although i agree that it has lots of grinding.

Jesus Christ, you think hacking is okay if it's "funny"? Let me voice my thoughts with a sassy Oprah gif.

dWDI4HI.gif

I didn't say that hacking was okay as long as it was funny, I said that hackers don't always use their hacks to aimbot, esp, etc and cause people a lot of anger. While I don't encourage hacking, It's not as though every hacker should be hated simply for hacking, if that made any sense

Hello there

At the moment, I'm as poor as a church mouse. But I really, really want an Track IR system. Now, because it's too expensive for me does not mean I can justify stealing one in any way, even if i can get it piped into my house and no one gets physically hurt when I do.

It's the same with software. We as a society have become so used to downloading software that we don't feel it's wrong.

When it comes down to smaller companies like BI, there's just no way pirating their software can be condoned. I can understand vagely folk ripping of mega corporations like EA, but it's still "illegal" and fundamentally wrong..

Now, lets get of the piracy topic or I will lock and hide. It's against the rules.

You know if you have a normal webcam, you can enable TrackIR for it without buying it? Forgot the name of the site, but my friend Callum downloaded it last month, and says it is amazing.

Tracknoir I think its called and it does work, but i cant find a config to make it work well. A good cheap alternative. Kudos to you for reminding us.

It surprises me there's much debate to be had here. OP's friend should have done some research before turning his hacks on, I can't see it any other way TBH.

exactly my thought, hacking on a Battleye protected server -> ban

thats the way it should be and people were screaming for a few months ago

It's never OK to cheat. Next time you're wondering about why games are so expensive, well blame hackers and pirates.

Your friend should have done his research. Hacking on any servers, private or not that have BE enabled will eventually result in a global ban.

well i think it's kinda okay to cheat in a single player gamer

When is it okay to cheat, and when isn't it?

It's okay in single player games. Event though, I wouldn't recomment it blindly, since Cheater will most likely get used to it. A game should stay challenging.

Anyway, sometimes it's plain fun to play a little around with the console and having fun with cheats. Some single player games can easily get screwed up by cheating, e.g. Fallout New Vegas, so you should have at least a clue what you are doing. I for my self use to play around from time to time. But most of the time I just need console commands to test a mod ingame. (That's what a console actually is made for. I also never continue a cheated game. I always save it before cheating around, close the game after I did and continue the uncheated save after. This has become a habit. I also cant stand mods where you just get a god mode like over powered weapon.)

In multi player games, it is a no go in my opinion. Because of the impact to other player. It can be kind of trolling to ruin other peoples game and it's just plain unfair. (They also ruin the game for them selfes. Playing a game as it was ought to, is the more challenging and therefore rewarding way.)

If you cheat an advantage in a single player game, no one cares. Online just is the very wrong place. Having dedicated cheater server, where everyone knows that cheats might be allowed, would be another thing.

same with bandits, i actually hate bandits more then hackers.

Bandits are brainwashed call of duty nubs.

That actually made me laugh.

I remember unlocking so many "cheats"... Chicken Head mode, 2D bodies, Paintball mode, etc... "cheats" used to be not only acceptable but encouraged. Of course they were of a different nature.

Since I can't code I respect hackers in the sense of the work they're creating as they're quite well made however script kiddies are all bad bad bad!

If your friend had a server with battleye, why didn't you guys simply shut it off while scripting? wtf?

of course you risk getting banned, battleye can't see if the hacks were used in conscience of the server owner or not, think before you do something like that

i can understand you guys did cheat to make better series, but you could have done that on a server without cheat protection...

How many times does it have to be typed up before people notice that he said that BE was OFF? I think pretty much everyone that disagrees at this point just hasn't read through what he's said, minus a few people that have had some intelligent comments...
