Are there still camps?

I wonder if there are any camps out there?

I think people are just running around dying or killing but not storing. Isthis right?

Still plenty of camps around you just have to look in the most obvious places, I,E the northern area of map.

However like so smart groups I have my camps set up about 1-2kms apart, this keeps all my good loot from being stolen in one fowl swoop.

Two months ago i found nearly 2/3 in a hour.

The amount of people using ESP hacks makes it pointless to make camps on too many servers. I have a few high pop server I play on that I have never had a camp that was well placed get raided. All others, including some low population servers have had tents get raided that you couldn't see from 2m away in any direction including up. The old camps remain until found but I don't bother making new ones any more. If I can't log out with it I don't bother picking it up. If its a .50 I will take it to the nearest bush and dump it though. Same goes for vehicles.

I usually use my tent to drop my main-gear while looting. I wouldn't want to risk loosing gear I don't need at the moment, so I leave it there.

I think most people who use camps now, use only 1 or 2 tents per location, as larger camps used to be found more often.

Witnessed a helicopter racing from NWAF in direction north west when the server-restart was announced yesterday. I think I'll go for a hiking-trip today :-)

I agree that there is not much use for horting items. I mainly use camps to store stuff I might need in the future, but I don't want to carry around as I don't need it now.

Having knife, matches and map at my tent doesn't cost me a thing. if it's lost I don't mind, but when I die and respawn, I know I have the bare essentials waiting for me.

I also tend to stay in the northern parts. Having morphine, bloodpacks and bandages stored in my tent saves me the trip to the next hospital. I usually don't use cars, so running the 5-10km down there is really nothing I like to do very often.

I played a whie as if the endgame was to ensure you don't have to go through the survivor-phase again after dying. But once you have enough gear to die 3-4 times, even with main weapon and ammo and everything, that becomes pointless...

But general rule should be: if you want to keep it, carry it on your body. if you put it away, prepare that someone is going to take it.

still camps? theres loads on our server! I seen one that was honestly the best camp I've seen in almost a year of playing!

I don't use camps as much anymore because mine normally get found. I never put them in that good of a spot :P

Since the vast majority of players play the game like any other first person shooter +zombies, why bother setting up a camp.

Spawn,find weapon,KOS,get killed on sight,spawn rinse and repeat.

Think again,Im doing grid searches and its paid off within the first hour on the first night.Not sure what to do with this find,raid it,destroy it,camp it and wait for kos cod kiddy's...sorry Bandits to show up.

The first time I found one was when I was looking to make a camp north of Kamenka and hit the jack pot.

Later when trying to get to Balota I was KOS, sniped.When I got back to my body an hour or so later,nothing was touched.Who ever KOSed me must have every thing..Hmmm.I went back to the cod kiddies.. damm..Bandits camp and dumped everything into near by trees.

I have found other camp/tents but nothing I needed was in them and left them as.One I put two nades in it,do I really need nades?nope

One discovery I have made is,why I can visual spot tents from afar and noone has found my tent.

I've noticed that randomly, public servers will go down for no reason and stay like that for a day or longer without notice. Once it comes back up, it ends up deleting players' camps/tents, and the vehicles that they have already acquired. Sadly, this happened to me yesterday so I lost every bit of extra gear that I've worked so hard for.

(Main reason that I'm now sticking to Balota Buddies for the closest vanilla DayZ fun)
