Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 16, 2013 You should be able to hold your revolver under your chin and pull the trigger when your backed into a corner by zombies, although you may say 'whats the point?' but i think it would be very common in real life, if this was added the game would be more immersive and realistic.
BCaused 49 Posted February 16, 2013 What if you don't have a revolver? What then? And also, if you are trapped in a corner but have a revolver just shoot them.....
Raventhorn 43 Posted February 16, 2013 I agree with the realism.However.... This can be used when not "cornered" by zombies aswell. I.E. "bah, I spawned in kamorovo and I wanted cherno, no problem just suicide".If there is a work around so it would not be abused, perhaps :)Best Regards.
Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 16, 2013 I didnt mean only revolvers... and imagine there is no way out & you have 1 bullet left, would be kinda funny, i dont think any other game has ever done anything like that.
kortez90 82 Posted February 16, 2013 Doubtful. It can be used as a relog. But if you enter the shot delayed sounds that character is crying and pooping bricks ... Then, perhaps, it would look great.
FlamingDefibs 421 Posted February 17, 2013 I don't see why they removed the respawn button at all. It only slightly delayed the time it took for people to commit suicide. They would either jump off a bridge and break their legs, making the respawn button pushable again, or they would deliberately run straight towards zombies. It's one of Rocket's less outstanding ideas.
Welch (DayZ) 756 Posted February 17, 2013 Why suicide? Just run into a pack o' zeds! It'd be nice if you get glitched underground or something. But it'd be abused for spawns, again.
Chris529 380 Posted February 17, 2013 +1 if a player wants to die they will one way or another, removing suicide was pretty useless.
willey.erd@oundleschool.org.uk 506 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Well, if you could only do it with a gun surely it negates most of the problem? Hopefully more enterable buildings and redesigns of the towns will encourage players not to commit suicide so often. Smirl 13 Posted February 17, 2013 No, I don't like the idea of suicide in DayZ.With the feature added, as stated above ; If I am unhappy with where I spawned, i could just suicide. Especially in the SA, where they're will be more loots because of more enterable buildings. Without a suicide feature, it makes me work much harder on the character i'm currently on, and spawning far away from Cherno/Elektro is part of the game. I don't think anyone would actually use the suicide feature if one were surrounded by zombies. Most of us would try to run and get out of there, and not use the suicide feature, which is its main intent.I would get pissed seeing groups/clans killing themselves until they got to a certain "meet-up" spawn point.

Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Thanks! overall i think the respawn should be redone, instead of respawn it should say 'suicide' and a small animation of your player killing them self would be awesome and immersive. respawn button or not, people are gunna kill themselves to get better spawns.. CreepySalad 108 Posted February 17, 2013 I think we should add it.But it shouldn't be up there. It also shouldn't be doable if you're being hit.I still like the idea of turning into a zombie (getting infected) if you're killed by them. That'd be cool. It would also be incentive to kill yourself.Zombies should also depose of bodies by munching on them.Don't know why I brought that up, I just think it'd be a good idea. joe_mcentire 2074 Posted February 17, 2013 as i hate everything that goes against the "higher valuation of a dayz-life" i don't like the idea of just respawning at all, for the known reasons. So i think suicide should have some sort of negative effects, just to let you think twice about it, but right at the moment i'm not sure which ones ..Maybe something associated with a humanity system... mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Got to agree with Joe on this ^.If suicide came with a 10-15 minute respawn cooldown, it would still be possible to use it if you felt it was necessary (I can't imagine when that would be) but it would come with a restriction which discourages its use.Though, at least, going by this suggestion, you wouldn't be able to top yourself if you didn't have a gun and at least one bullet. HarrySaches 5 Posted February 17, 2013 I fail to see what the big deal about killing yourself for a better spawn is anyway, if you get a craptastic spawn you don't like, most zombies are only a minute or two away, run to zombies, allow them to beat you to death, rinse and repeat until you get desired spawn. As for clans why would they committ suicide and lose their gear to a potential server crash? It wouldn't make sense, but what do I know right?People seem to think if it requires vast amounts of time invested or majorly annoying it equals something good for the GAME. When in reality all most of these things people seem to suggest amount too is greifing for new players or over complication when it's not needed.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted February 17, 2013 +1 if a player wants to die they will one way or another, removing suicide was pretty useless.Creating a new character put a lot of stress on the server, stopping people from being able to spam it helps with everyone else's in-game performance.
Zionist Wabbit 154 Posted February 17, 2013 People like Realism; At the same time forgetting Morals & Ethics. As it stands, DayZ is one of the largest Games / Mod's as of late. With International Press jumping at the chance to interview Dean & the other Dev Team members, It does limit some of the things they may do. This has been shown before with Child Zombies, although some wanted them, others thought the coverage could destroy the Game - Same would happen if you're able to graphically commit Suicide. The current Media jump to conclusions, for some reason linking one FPS Game (..In turn branding the entire genre) to some Killing Spree, can you not think of what would happen with this? Not to mention the oddly sadistic side to it. You KNOW people will be forced to kill themselves with this system by Bandit's.. And in general is a damn god-awful thing to put into a potentially multi-million dollar business.

mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 17, 2013 Not this shit again, Harry. If you're going to carry on crying that everything is too hard, go play Farmville or something. It's supposed to be an unrelenting pain in the arse for new players. It always has been and always will.It encourages you to learn how things work and adapt your methods so you can be successful. Everybody has had to go through that, it's a MAJOR part of the experience.
