How would DayZ be on the Arma III engine?

Recommended Posts

I dunno, but i guess it would ask for a huge pc, considering the optimisation it has just for arma II xD

I Wish they waited and made standalone on arma 3's engine just my opinion tho. :P

It would struggle with some of the same problems DayZ had with the ArmA 2 engine.

DayZ is developing it's own branch of the ArmA engine, the same people working on the DayZ engine worked on the ArmA 3 engine, so expect to see some cross contamination.

Isn't needed, all important parts of it will likely be seen in DayZ, that's the ".5".

With the new engine, how will the new implementation effect the overall gameplay experience featured?

No, the standalone will not exactly be running on ArmA III's engine, but rather developing it's own. If I read correctly, it's new engine is to significantly improve performance of lower grade PC's from the transfer of the current engine to the new one, while also living up to ArmA's rather appealing graphics.

Whatever they do with this new engine, let's hope our lower PC brothers and sisters will be suited up for the new engine, and the new challenge.

The only things that the Dayz engine could benefit from that the arma 3 engine has are ragdoll and Physx 3. The Dayz engine is tailored for Dayz, it used to be called take on helicopters engine but it has changed a lot since then. Ragdoll and Physx 3 are something that the devs can work on and implement later, the game will still be awesome without them.

Well it would be hacked just as much as the current game, for one, which is why it's getting a custom engine,

I am sure that we will see a DayZ mod appear using Arma 3 in the future. I'm not saying Rocket will do it, but i can imagine a community effort.
