found my first heli - questions

Recommended Posts

Hey, i just found my first heli earlier today.

decided to fix it up which took me around 3 hours, then i finally found the fueltank, rejoined the server and somehow i got spawned at the coast (heli at neaf...).

ran back, fixed it up but when i tried to fuel it i get kicked for script restriction #44 o.O

got around it by rejoining, refueling, disc and doing it over but the tank doesnt seem to get any fuller.(doing 3 cans at a time)

now ive read that helis leak fuel if the glas isnt fully repaired (mine isnt), is this true for all helis or just specific models?

im trying to fix up a ah6x.

and if all helis leak, how far can i get with 3 cans of gas?

thanks in advance.

You wouldn't draw water from a well using a bucket with a hole... Fix the helicopter before you top it up with gas. It's a mechanic in place for all helicopters.

It takes 50 to fill the little bird. 2 might get you to the south side of Krasnostav. If you get it at least to where the fuel level is green you should be able to get it to a safer fuel tank. Just watch the fuel as you go and you should be fine.

If just one of the windows in the chopper is broken and i mean compleltly missing the chopper will slowly empty itself for fuel

Hi guys !

I have the feeling that the ah6x is bugged.

Yesterday i found one, in perfect condition, all was good, fuel drop rate ok, when i land the bird and go doing something else, i go back later, the fuel is still here, all is fine.

But few hours laters i've land hit pretty hard, all was in the red inside of the heli. I've fix the engine, avionics, main and secondary rotors, all the windows, and i've found a fuel part, but can't attach to the bird. With the fuel part on my inventory, there was no "fix fuel part" in the action wheel.

So when i am outside i can't repair anything, all is good, and in the pilote seat all is in green. But the bird still loses fuel. You put fuel into it, go back 5 min later and the fuel is empty.

Anyone has the same bug ?

As far as I'm aware, from my experience playing the v175 betas:

· Remember you need a toolkit now to do repairs to any vehicle.

· If the chopper windows are all yellow/green, the fuel seems to leak slower. If even one red, it will leak out fast.

· Wait until the animation is finished before applying each jerry can. If you overlap, the fuel sounds like it's going in, but it won't.

· The windows leaking fuel is an Arma mechanic. The mod devs would prefer if the fuel tank leaked fuel, but they can't do anything about it.

· All choppers seem to take 50 cans to fill them, even the Little Birds.

· The Mi17 and Huey are very efficient with fuel, whilst the Little Birds seem to use it a little more quickly even though they go more slowly and are lighter.

· Once the windows are fixed, each jerry seems to get you about one and a half minutes of flight (underestimated to be on the safe side). Three jerrys will get you half way across the map.

There has been a vehicle bug right the way through the v175 betas that some players/jerrycans cannot add fuel to a vehicle, yet another player can try and it works.

One time I couldn't fill an Mi17, even after logging out and back in, dropping the jerry and picking it up, etc. Then when a mate came along with more jerrys, it filled for him. I dumped my jerry and used one of his, and was able to fill it. However, on another occasion that didn't work either - it took a server restart to fix it.

Also at times the menu itself has been bugged in that it doesn't show damage accurately, or shows different damage to one player than another. In addition to the refuel bug, there are also bugs which prevent you from repairing a vehicle. Again, sometimes a server restart will fix the vehicle so it can be repaired.

Each time we were told it had been fixed in the next release, but it never was. So I can't believe it's been fixed for v1751.

Two people have posted the refuelling/repair bug here: http://dayzmod.com/f...-1751-bug-list/

You might want to add any other repair bug variations you've experienced.

Although, I notice that Razor hasn't added the vehicle bugs to the list in the first post - perhaps the problem is so complex it's being ignored for now.

Broken windows = leaking fuel.

Fact: You can make it from Polana to NWAF on 3 jerry cans. I have seen it happen. (edit: in a huey).

No a broken window does not by deafault mean it´s leaking. Especially after 1.7.5 with zombs breaking windows

mine are broken all the time without a leak.

The leak seems to be independant from anything else.

Everything has to get repaired to fix it. So if you have a heli that leaks, repair absolutely everything also the unused missiles

for example on the ah6. the windows are just the most annoying as you´ll need 4-6 of them. Again if not abolutely everything

possible is repaired it will leak. It will also leak if all windows are repaired but something else is yellow.

I've found the little bird at its spawn all in yellow. The server restarted and it was all green. A servrr restart migjt fix your issue.

1 fuel can was sufficient to land right by the tank next to the industrial building at neaf. If you get close enough to the fuel tank you don't have to worry about the zeds. Bear in mind that you should have somebody watching your back (unless the server is empty)

Thanks for all the replies. i finally got the heli off the ground.

Well, at least for a few meters xD.

I was proud of myself to have gotten it out of the hangar on the first try, then i was a little to ambitious with the speed without gaining altitude.

the result was my rotors kissing the ground, which didnt turn out so well for the poor little birdie.

luckily i got kicked from the server at the moment of the crash (:o) and at least i survived.

still kinda frustrating. i just wanted to fly around the airfield once and land next to the tank. if i wasnt so lazy maybe id still have a heli ^^

Basic flying is fairly easy, but you do need to practice offline for an hour in Arma.

Always practice first in Arma. You can crash all you want there without any loss. In DayZ it sucks if you spend the time fixing it and you lose an opportunity.

Fixing the windows solved the problem.

I still had to dc everytime before i filled the fuel in because of script restricton 44 tho.

I actually did try. I was just like "yeah its easy i got this".

Cant even blame anything else, that crash was pure stupidity. I totally deserved to die.
