What is considered a "Forest"

Kind of a little rant here...

Tonight i had the most frustrating element with the Hatchet trying to get a wood pile from what I assumed was and is infact a forest near Black Lake on the Map Chernarus. Every server I visited had this, it was mind boggling. All the wiki's state you must be within a green area on the map yet it continues to give me signs saying "You must be in a forest and close to a tree to get wood". I am in a forest and next to a tree, what are you thinking is a forest?

It was infuriating, especially considering a tiny plot of woodland on Skalisty island produced wood piles no problem but Black Lake seems to want to not give any wood at all and forcing me to go way far out just to get any wood.

So in all, what does this game consider a "Forest" and not?

It depends, usually places with the much taller trees or more densely wooded areas.

I've been able to chop wood from just 4 clusters of trees, while a thick pine tree forest like the one you've mentioned would give me the same forest error over and over.

Maybe the game has a mother earth AI built-in keeping players from chopping up all her green forests?

Its a little weird, it kinda depends on the tree more than being in a 'forest'. For some reason pine trees wouldnt work but almost any other tree did, and sometimes pine trees would work as well.

Just another one of those bugs the devs can't be bothered to fix but hey, at least you can eat raw meat now. lol

As long as Slenderman's around.. it's a forest~ I usually just log out and log back in and it can give me a wood pile. I don't know why or I don't know if that happens to anyone else but sure as hell it happens to me But I agree with Max.. probably those bugs the dev's can't be bothered to fix.

Hello there

"not being bothered" is not a fair label to assign to the devs of either the mod or the SA.

Different issues will have different priorities.

Perhaps the wood issue is not on their immediate todo list? Perhaps there's a deeper issue preventing them from solving it.

If you want it solved, go in game. get vids/coords etc of where it works and where it doesn't.

All you have to do is go into a wooded area. Look down at the ground. There is a forest ground and there are a all the other types of ground. Next time you are able to harvest wood pay attention to what the ground looks like.

I've had an experience where I was able to harvest wood while inside the massive industrial complex building somewhat by gorka. Try harvesting wood from in there.

it would be cool if you could actually chop down trees and shrubs to use as firewood. Imagine going up to a tree and chopping it down for two mins, watching it fall and then dividing pieces up, placing the cut pieces into your truck and then brining those pieces back to camp. I would love this.

I find that sometimes you have to be looking at a tree just right. Try moving left and right when you are still in the Inventory and spam the firewood button.
