twentyteethlion 0 Posted February 5, 2013 I am trying to think on how this is going to work.. ok the PS4 and The xbox720 is releasing this year or the next (I don't know but close). So you are releasing it on PS3 and maybe xbox while when you even do it will result in failing to even releasing it on the first place because its next consoles. I understand the development and interior designing is alot and all that but like.. don't release it on the old console because people will eventually buy the new consoles with their games not transferable and eventually continue its future experience. PS4 Xbox720somewhere this year maybe half way into 2013 or at DecemberThink about this guys so that I can have a better understanding please and to also even get everyone to also come in to this conversation. mzltv 2281 Posted February 5, 2013 and why is that?It will be reduced. It's like porting Battlefield 3 to iPhone. It just doesn't work, in my mind.I hope it stays as a desktop exclusive, just so it's not watered down.
terminal_boy 860 Posted February 5, 2013 Plus you'd need either:1. A controller with 100 buttons2. A keyboard and mouse.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted February 5, 2013 Yes release it on console. It would be hell on earth.
Mr Nasty 1023 Posted February 5, 2013 Not sure why anyone who plays it on PC would care if it was released on console or not. Its not like it would be replacing the PC version and nobody would force you to play console.
victusmortuus 1074 Posted February 5, 2013 "Team deathmatch, take no prisoners comrades"Only the space from Balota >east to Elektro will be in the console version.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted February 5, 2013 I think he's trying to say release DayZ on next-gen consoles, not the 360 and PS3?They were never intending to release on Xbox 360 or PS3, right now DayZ is a PC exclusive and the Xbox 360 would probably melt if you tried to run ARMA II on it in any way, shape or form. The dev team will consider a next-gen console release if they sell 1,000,000 (minimum) units of the PC version.

-Gews- 7443 Posted February 21, 2013 Not sure why anyone who plays it on PC would care if it was released on console or not. Its not like it would be replacing the PC version and nobody would force you to play console. They might be worried it would take off on a console and any further development would give priority to the less "hardcore" console version. BwobBwub 660 Posted February 21, 2013 I just don't know how it will work. Controllers are going to need a lot more buttons and the game will be dumbed down a lot.
sinkatze 52 Posted February 21, 2013 If DayZ ever comes out for consoles it will be after the release of PS4 and Xbox 720.
enforcer1975 1111 Posted February 21, 2013 I don't think they will port it that fast in the near future since the focus of BIS was always the PC and i don't recall them having a lot of experience in porting to console since they can't even make a proper game for the PC... intensity 157 Posted February 21, 2013 Keep it PC only. I don't want the console communities harming this one.

Garblax 4 Posted February 21, 2013 I don't know why you whiney babies are complaining about it possibly moving to consoles. No one is forcing you to buy the console version, and they're not going to kill the PC version even if they do port it. So what's the problem here?
Quaby 93 Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Lets see...If consoles ruined gaming, then explain how genre-defining titles such as the Legend of Zelda(fairly sure is still console or handheld only) and Halo(got a pc port) started on consoles, and are easily the most commonly known games. Lets try to be accepting, and not make this a "my gaming system's dick is bigger than yours" contest and a bunch of "everyone who plays on consoles is a little COD kid who just wants to pwn n00bz and be l337". It isn't like every one who plays computer games is a 30 year old man who has an Oxford education. Don't get me wrong, I. LOVE. Computer games, especially StarCraft, and tbh if I had to choose I would choose PC. Then again, I had more fun playing Dishonored on Xbox than I have on DayZ in awhile, and a good PC is expensive(mine is total shit, but i persevere, oh the harsh realities of the first world :D)Just because i like PC doesn't make everyone else that prefers consoles stupid. Idk what kind of power the next gen consoles would have, but I am sure they would be capable of running DayZ in a polished state on a map the size of Namalsk at least, as the map isn't exactly huge. Just ask yourself...if a PC version of DayZ is up and running in a stable state, what would a console port do to you? The PC version should come first as it is already underway, and a console version after would be a-ok. Sorry if i pissed someone off, I just got tired of PC elitism and it exploded forth in a wall of text.As a side, there are enough buttons to play DayZ on a controller, I've done it. If a few things are added to reduce the need of buttons(I.e. a compass popping up in a small spot somewhere instead of having to toggle it, one stance change button), and a new inventory system was added, it would work swimmingly. You have a total of fifteen buttons(you can add double tap actions too) to work with for actions that are not moving or looking on an Xbox controller, assuming start is the menu button. I feel that is enough if you leave things like "surrender" unmapped, and I hardly use that anyway. Edited February 22, 2013 by Quaby
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted February 22, 2013 1. We currently have very little informations about the PS4 when it comes to hardware specs and software environment, it's an x86 cpu tho.2. Develloping for consoles require to aquire a license fee. Those licenses are not really cheap.3. Consoles usually come with their own Devellopment environment, which means training people to do the porting, which take time and/or money.4. Controllers have a limited number of keys, Arma based games usually have quite a wide array of controls required. It's generally easier to design a game with a gamepad in mind from the ground up and then porting it to general purpose controls than the opposite.5. Console users are a very different market and have different needs (game wise), what you play in a relaxed environment such as your living room on the sofa isn't the same kind of games you will play sitting at your computer.
