as far as I understand you can still watch yourself in your sexy outfit using 3rd person as long as you are safe...if you expect a fight, for example when approaching a town or village, you will have to switch to 1st person since aiming in 3rd person will not work anymore (removed crosshair)...Rocket mentioned changing the view will be handled in the menue options...and not on the fly....seems a good compromise to me...

you should read more carefully through the existing threads and discussions before calling people fanboys....

Seems kind of a redundant measure TBH.

I thought all the crying was over "periscopes".

The guy, prone, on a roof in Elektro, in 3dp, will still spot you first.

And he'll still have plenty of time to take aim and dome you.

EDIT:

It'll stop folk switching camera views mid-battle, which is helpful to the FPV cause I suppose.

I'll just keep playing the way I always have.

They have enough Devs dude. It is known. Of course not as much as other titles do, but they have enough. I don't think that Rocket works as much on Dayz SA as he used to work on the mod. Rocket actually is more of a PR guy as you said. His job is now more about telling the gaming community about the game other than developing it. He goes to conferences, meetings, he writes the blogs, he is on the forums here, so yeah. He just keeps the team organized and puts them on the right track of the development. Yes, he does contribute to the development process, but I don't think that it is his main job.

That's the problem, there should be no compromise at all. If 1st person shooter fanboys want to play Day-Z in pure 1st person then they have to make their own server for that, period. If they don't like that they shouldn't play Day-Z at all.

Going into a menu to change between 1st and 3rd views just because a small group of people want a pure 1st person experience is just wrong.The majority of people who want Day-Z views left alone should win over the minority of people who want a pure 1st person experience.

News just in: This game isn't being developed by commitee. The devs will do what they feel is necessary to create the game they have envisioned. If that involves making changes that will initially piss some people off then that's what's gonna happen.

We've all seen what happens when good concepts get watered down to placate the playerbase, luckily that's not going to happen with DayZ.

Hah, I don't like first person shooters (well I do... because some are good games, not just because they are first person shooters though), and I am definitely not a fanboy of anything. I like first person because it is first person, it puts me AS the character, not as someone watching a character which is what third person means. First person is awkward but that's the point of it. I don't care about realism or peripheral vision or stuff like that; I care about experiences!

EDIT: I don't care however the game ends up, I will still continue playing in first person. Just wanted to point out that it has nothing to do with being a shooter fanboy.

EDIT2: And yes, this has got me killed a lot of times when fighting against someone clearly exploiting the third person view. I don't care about that either. Playing DayZ with the mindset of winning is like trying to speedrun Journey. Sure, you can do it but you are missing the point quite spectaculary!

You actually believe games are created to your personal requirements? Let the professionals work and then decide to like or hate the result. If you hate it, don't buy it, or buy it and mod it to suit yourself, but don't assume you or anyone else here is influential enough to dictate the direction to professional developers by stamping your little iddy biddy feets.

I've personally have used the 3rd person to spot people and switched over to snipe them. It gives people advantages in my opinion. If there was a poll asking which I would want the game to be, I'd go with 1st person. However, I would also hate it because I like to travel in 3rd person. Lol, oh DayZ, such a love/hate relationship.

I've been enjoying DayZ 2017 since there are no military weapons, which makes you really get into some cool gun fights. It makes the game a bit harder too. DayZ 2017 should have also made it 1st person only. Phew!

However, the mod is not the standalone, and we how no idea what kind of server options we'll get.

So you are assuming that i didn't read existing threads and discussions ? How do you know if i did or didn't read those threads and discussions (Which i have a million times already). So how about this,you need to learn not to make assumptions about people before you know or not, and i will work on not calling people fanboys for being extreme fans of something.That is not the way we are discussing things here, deal ?

Now let's end this discussion as it's starting to take up too much of this thread already.

There's no need for discussion to get so heated all the time.

Everyone has their preferences, and reasons for them. It's just that differing opinions invariably lead to argument around here.

Standalone needs to make some clear-cut definitions regarding what DayZ is.

I'd be perfectly happy if every server was to have the same settings (yes, even 3dp:off) if it would mean we were playing the game as it's intended.
