Why banditing?

Recommended Posts

I get why people bandit. The thrill of shooting someone can be intoxicating. I don't get this though:

- Why do people with an automatic machine gun (M18 or whatever) shoot new players from a distance (using red dot sight) who have no weapon (or something like a winchester or Lee Enfield)? It seems very cowardly to exclusively take on those players who are new and don't see you. Why not go for a challenge?

- Why would you (after killing someone and taking all the loot you want) hide his body and make all the loot disappear? Is it thrilling to ruin someone else's experience? Not only did you make him spawn somewhere (most likely) remote and far away from his gear, but now you take his last chance to recuperate some of it from him. That's pretty low in my opinion. At that point, you're just trying to hurt the player - not the character. You're basically trying to ruin his experience.

- Why would you grenade/run over someone's tents? Just take whatever you want and leave them be! People spend hours gathering items and then you not only take some of it, you ruin the things you can't use/transport. Again... why do that? You don't get any adrenaline shot and it's not a great accomplishment. You don't need any skill of it. You're just being an incredible asshole. Immature as hell.

It's not about persuasion or avoiding conflict.

Call me a CoD deathmatcher if you will (I've never played CoD), but sometimes I just want to get some freakin' kills at any cost! I don't even care about their loot, I just want their beans. The metaphorical type.

Shooting armed people makes me feel like this:

(That's the Canadian bandit victory dance. See the headscarf? Whoo-yah!)

I kill everyone that i see that i dont know and i still dont trust the people im with. Im thinking about a little betrayll like putting a satchel charge on their chopper. So yea i do the same KoS is all i know cause in this game you have no friends.

Correction, you have no friends. I've met plenty of cool people in the last few days alone but you don't trust anybody and kill everything that moves, so I have no sympathy for you.

yeah, give me some good reasons to kill unarmed people, or people that just ignore you and keep in their business.

1. They're taking loot I might want.

2. They are looking for, and could easily find a weapon to kill me with later.

3. If I reset them, I have the area to myself longer.

4. Maybe I'm down a bandage (I like to have 4) or a box of painkillers (I like to have two).

That's exactly the freaking opposite of what the game should mean. It's about survival, NOT KILLING EVERYTHING THAT MOVES JUST FOR THE LULZ, DAMN.

You should be afraid of death, you shouldnt pick a fight with everyone who crosses your path, in a apocalipse like it's suggested on the game, you would actually want to build up a team to survive better.

People like you that think dying is just a "patience" matter, are the ones that screw the game, fuck up the immersion and bring the bad reputation to servers.

But this freaking mod is already totally flooded with cod kiddies, a quick look on what servers are the most poppulated tells you everything you need to know.

i really hope the standalone to be FREAKING HARDCORE hard, at the point that you should me more affraid of zombies than of people, with weapons spawns extremely rare and NO SERVER CUSTOMIZATION SUPPORT, FFS, no more [1000 cars, spawn with NVG+GPS+WEAPON]. Then the kiddies would ragequit after dying repeatedly and would clean the game of their cancerous presence.

See, you are telling me what the game 'should be.' You hope that they change the game so that it suits what you want. I hope they leave zombies as they are-----brainless, retarded, and unarmed. Sounds threatening to fit, well armed people eh?

At any rate, I enjoy the game as it is, and I play it logically. I have far more to gain from killing anyone I see than I do not killing them. I'm not interested in teaming up with strangers, I have friends for that. Even if I didn't, why share loot with someone whose goals and strategies will no doubt be different from my own? Also---pubbies are idiots. Frankly, people who are 'friendly' tend to be idiots who I have absolutely no interest in on a human level.

Why would I be afraid of death? I can gear back up again in a few hours (which is fun anyway). Killing people hastens the process.

Welll.. I see all new players are against bandits. I can understand. And only what I can say, you will play long enough you will not ask more.

In this game is nothing to do if you are playing long. You can stop playing or start fight with others only. Here many other reasons to be bandit, but who care? What is to do, if you have all you can get? Killing zeds? Why? They are just poor, infected villagers. I killed over 800 in 2h in Zelenogorsk and what? Funny? Not so much. PvP is a key to this game. Without bandits dayz will be boooring, like a many other single player games.

We are creating fun for you in dayz,

Killing everyone you see before they have a chance to even attempt to play the game isn't creating fun. I like, though, how you're talking all this shit about being KoS and your signature is about being a medical service/

I don't understand why anyone thinks bandits wouldn't kill on sight. They're bandits. I'm drawing a blank here...

Just be glad we don't try to eat you and your children like some of Hollywood's post-apocalyptic bandits:

Oh, I forgot one thing : 95% of bandits are immature little kids.

That's just woah.

And that is why we call you a CoD deathmatcher, you turn a survival game into a deathmatch.

So sit on Skalisty Island with your hatchet while just letting the food continue to spawn. There, apocalypse-surviving 101.

My signature? Let me check... Only cure is dying? Yep, thats right.

I'm killing everybody in my sight north of 040 line. Why? Because I'm faster - moslty. Giving them chance? For what? Killing me? And I'm not killing heroes how long they are not in bandits team. So, stay on the coast, you will be safer. Inland is for big boys. And girls.

Because your definition of bandit seems to be different than mine, I see a bandit as being someone who holds people up, robs them, can find ways to get around killing everyone you see but will kill when they need to in order to survive. When I was a bandit we created traps, roadblocks, and organized kidnappings to get stuff to survive without needing to go to the coast. I fail to see how killing some random fresh spawn who might possibly in some fashion could potentially come back to attempt to try to maybe kill you in the future counts as banditry, unless I'm so old school I wasn't informed that now anyone who can buy the game, jump on a server, grab a gun and shoot the first person they see in the back is coined a bandit.

This is pretty much the truth. Bandits keep the dayz world going 'round and 'round.

-Bandits love killing other bandits, keeps the competition coming.

-Bambies are wary and afraid of the bandits (if theyve been killed/robbed enough), thus making it somewhat a thrill to try and make it out alive in the end with some gear.

-Heroes love hunting the bandits and saving the bambies.

-Medics need injured players to rescue and not all of them are for bad Zed situations.

I play lone pony, so I don't think creating a roadblock would be a good idea when some decked-out clan rolls up with a couple Urals. Plus I like using my gun...

I don't kill fresh spawns unless they are an immediate danger and I don't hang around the coastal cities.

When people ask me why I started shooting at them, killed them, etc. I say that Day Z offers a unique combat experience. You are in a battle, you move to cover and your leg break, oh no. You decide to test out your new AK-74 you found in the fire station, and suddenly the former population is now battling with and against you. You line up the perfect shot, but your enemy shoots first and your aim goes to shit and you bleed. These are things unseen in any other game, and when you stalk your prey, put a lot of effort into the kill, you get a rewarding experience unavailable in any other game. If your kill fails, do a rage quit and come back in a few hours and do it all over again, no two kills are the same, and each one has a rich story that can be told from both points of view. And when people call bandits (I mean the KoS ones, not the old fashion ones) physcopaths or sociopaths, you must remember it's a game, and people like to have different lives in games, I play KOTOR as a major dark side asshole but I help the elderly in real life. Don't take a game to seriously, and remember to have fun, even when you are on the receiving end.

Romanticize it all you want, fact is that doesn't happen anymore like it used to because the fighting moves down to the coast. Bandits do definitely add depth to the game, but when everyone is a bandit and everyone kills eachother the second they see eachother, other than the health system and having to find your gun why is this any different than CoD or battlefield?

Because there are no Superman jumps and you can't kill a guy by throwing your knife over a building.

Minor details aside, killing everyone you see on here just for the hell of it is no different than a deathmatch on any other FPS.

But it makes me feel better.

Have you ever had a cup of cocoa? Most people have. That warm, hearty feeling you get from a cup of Fry's™ Premium Cocoa. It's the kind of feeling that brings warmth to a cold winter's eve. The kind of warmth that families share after getting back from the big game. So take off those skates, settle down, and enjoy a cup of Fry's™.

It's the Canadian way.

(And also enjoy shooting random people in the back and hiding their bodies to piss them off).

Everyone likes to play DayZ differently, that is why some people like to be bandits.

Oh let me correct you . "Everyone likes to play DayZ easy-way , that is why most people like to be bandits" :)

Pretty much. Having played all 3 sides though, I don't get it. I get much more satisfaction out of earning someone's trust and not betraying it or being betrayed than I did the one time I tried playing KoS.

Why did I become a bandit? Well I started to bang my bestfriends wife and he ended up joining our group so she cut things off. Thus sending me in a rage and now I kill everyone on site. I also bang every/anyone I see. That's why...
