I think we should have a drug/addiction system.

My idea was pretty much that but also because both have a higher chance of death/ have major effects on your body the zombies just figure you're one of them. You could also force it to where you can only walk when on heroine and when on meth you sprint everywhere and can't go prone. And for weed, there is a chance of you having a bad high. It's mostly beginners who smoke too much but you do get super paranoid, you feel sick, every little thing scares you, things that are not there scare you *mostly if you're outside at night. It goes away after you eat something and lye down for a bit so it would be a valid effect

I think we should have a drug/addiction system.

PCP/crack- damage resit *so you can take an extra bullet or two* Coke - speed/sprint boost weed- can replace painkillers and have painkillers be addicting . No downside, you just need to have paper and a lighter to use. It also takes like 5 - 8 seconds to work compared to insta working like painkillers. meth/heroine - less zombie detection but a higher chance of ODing each debuff could be in levels depending on your addiction and if you survive for a long time with an addiction it gets harder and harder to survive without getting your fix. You start to shake more, your guy refuses to eat, you randomly pass out ect. just some ideas so you can have a better RP character, more things to worry about if the game is too easy for you ect. . You'd also have to choose between bringing that extra can of beans/mag or do you need that slot for whatever you're addicted too.Plus no one is forcing you to do drugs, except for the guys who are trading it for goods.

That's why you have them give a buff for a time period *nothing broken, just like small boost* and a debuff if you don't get more in your system after a certain time

Not sure how we'd get them, but you could have whole bandit camps being in charge of one drug. It would take like a day or two to craft it, but once you do you can go around handcuffing people and forcing them to take the drugs to get them addicted. It could also be used for some sort of currency and add's more realism. Just think about rolling up on one guy, handcuffing him and then when he thinks you're just there to steal his stuff; you inject him with a heroine and while he's passed out, you take everything and leave a note telling him where he can buy more. It'd stop a lot of fresh spawns from getting killed since the bandits would be more focused on taking out each other for more income for resources. Hell, you could start your own drug empire and build a fort/small community. If it's not a currency system, you could trade them for supplies. It could also add more effect and more survival elements. Let's say your character is addicted to coke, when your on it you have unlimited sprint until the timer runs out. Once the timer runs out, if you don't get more within certain amount of time *depending on your addiction level* you start to go through withdrawals. If you have the drugs give you buffs for a certain period of time, it won't just stop people from just saying "I guess i'll just die and start all over" so it's not like vampireism from oblivion and just hinders your experience

    Burning down houses/bases

But they are nearly impossible to come by. Plus fires are more epic, and you can avoid them. I think it's more realistic as well. That and if you make a fire, people will know you're there. With a satchel charge you can place it, and just run away before you blow it up. I just think more options are better.

    Burning down houses/bases

I think it'd be pretty cool if you could burn a building down. Let's say you get into a gun fight with a guy/group and they run into a building to create a choke point. Instead of waiting for them to come out or you go in, we should be able to start a fire to either trap them in it or force them to run out. It'd also be a way to cover your tracks from dogs/ destroy someones base/camp without them noticing till it's too late. It could also start off slow so we can use it as a diversion, Lets say you raid a camp that has 5+ people there. You could start a fire at one end so they go to try and put it out while you steal their stuff or shoot them while they try to protect their camp.

how to handle property - the issue when being offline

But you'd have to worry about people like me, who will shoot anyone they don't know on sight during the apocalypse. I don't know you, nor do I want too. Also I don't know if you're infected or not and I wouldn't risk it.

how to handle property - the issue when being offline

Doesn't matter, you're hindering a bunch of others gameplay because you're not going to be playing. If you know you're not going to play, destroy said car or keep your important stuff on you when you log. Just because you're not going to play, doesn't mean the guy running through he woods who happens to find where your base is should be gimped. Whenever you're not there, you run the risk of someone taking your stuff. Right now, I could go out of town for a few weeks and have someone steal my car. Does my car vanish because i'm not there? No, it's still where I left it. It's basically the same concept, you cannot prevent it from happening, but in the end it can happen. If you don't like the fact that at anytime, everything you worked for can be taken then you might want to play a different game. Almost everyone who plays this game wants it to be realistic, I don't think anyone who truly enjoys this game for what it is wants stuff despairing just because it's "yours".

I think it's fine the way it is. If you're not there for any reason, someone can come up and take your stuff. Everyone wants realism in this game, but not when it comes to them losing stuff. The #1 rule of DayZ is don't get attached to your gear! How would a building/car/tent would just go "POOF!" as soon as you got off, how real is that? What if someone sneaks into your base without you knowing and you log off? What happens to that guy? You run the risk of leaving your stuff unguarded, making it free loot if someone happens to find it...just like in the real world.

    Knocking people out.

    >.> Because getting shot, but just using a bandaid and eating some meat will save you from dying? Tranq darts could just be super rare to avoid it being abused. Anything is better than just having this KoS stuff. Plus i'm sure people would knock you out IRL to take your stuff rather than kill you, if they saw you were alone. That and true bandits can play without having to be classified as a "KoS noob". A true bandit will only kill you if he has too, with this they can silently rob you without you knowing. Sure you could get held up by a group of bandits, but now the solo or 2 man bandits don't have to KoS just to get your stuff

    Knocking people out.

I think with some melee weapons we should be able to knock someone out for a few mins if we sneak up behind them and bash them in the back of the head. And instead of the way it looks now *being able to see everything going on even tho you're knocked out* it just shows a timer and a black screen *or maybe a dream or something who knows* till you wake up. This could make real bandits more popular *not the who KoS wannabes* as well as being able to kidnap people to bring to your base or something if you don't want them to know where it's at. The only thing I can see going wrong is people abusing it, but just add diminishing returns after the 2nd-3rd time. Just think how awesome it would be to knock out that guy sniping fresh spawns, taking all his stuff and putting him in a town full of zombies and shooting off a shot to lure all the zombies. It'd also be cool if you could have a zombie pit in your base to drop guys who are like this in there, or have a deathmatch with axes and machetes with the zombies in between *if you watch the walking dead, it's kind of like the Woodberry fights*. Just some cool things i'd like to see in the standalone.

Tell me your stupidest death stories...

I tried to climb a rock to overlook the field we were going through and I ended up getting eaten by the rock...I was on top of it for about 3 seconds before it got hungry. First it broke my legs and then it just killed me after =(.

Yay another survivor turned into Otis!

It'd be cool if they made two episodes after that moment when they killed Shane, but instead of Shane it was Rick that died. Then after TWD is over they start to play it from the same part but with Shane as the leader and Rick dying. Rick has his moments but usually it's him crying about something, him eye raping the camera or him just dragging things out. Shane just got shit done while everything Daryl does is badass. Plus who waits that long to kill someone who was sleeping with your wife and trying to kill you?

I agree, Tho I think Rick should die and they call it "The Walking Daryl" If you ride a motorcycle and kill zombies with a crossbow, I will follow you until the end of the earth! Tho I do fear Daryl might die at some point....I hope not or my two favorites would no longer be on the show =(.
