So rocket, a western city eh?

Recommended Posts

In the ShannonZKiller interview rocket said:

"There is no doubt in my mind we will see new worlds, personally this is what I would like to see. I would like to see a world with a large city in the middle of it surrounded by woods and mountains with natural barriers to it and it would be a western city, that to me is the next Dayz map I would like to see, but I also want to see some community maps ported over for the early DayZ"

So my question is which city could this be? I'm sure he had a specific city in mind when he said this.

Do those who know rocket know of any particular place fitting the description?

New York or San Fran would be cool. But I'd imagine it would take a very long time to make all the buildings enterable.

I think any huge city (skyscrapers etc) would be far too ambitious and would mean a lot of buildings wouldn't be enterable. As much as I'd love to see it I just can't see that happening.

Maybe you could only include the first two or three floors of a skyscraper and then have rubble barricading the rest?

I'm more interested in the terrain than large cities. Give me north eastern Utah, northern New Mexico, or anywhere in the Rockies (done right, ahem). Mexico and Canada also have some interesting landscape, If they do an island I hope they avoid the Caribbean and look to the North Atlantic.

the enterable aspect would not bother me as long as there were sewers to enter. there would be plenty of streets and bridges where stuff can spawn. (And vehicles as stated in another inverview)

tba, as long as vhe city was bigger than "t'other" game, I would be happy with a small city twice the size of Cherno.

My computer will explode if cities get too large, my frames drop in Elektro as it is...

I'd like to see a Midwestern map with a few small towns and a couple larger cities, woods and mountains and wide-open prairie areas as well with small farms.

Edinburgh.

Its multi levelled, has a major mix of styles from ancient to modern, has a deserted "under city", isn't too massive and has a bloody great castle.

And great pub opening hours.

Personally, I'd like to have a large city in the middle of a map similar to Chernarus. All the larger towns are on the coast, and it would be cool to go inland and find a city probably about 1 5th of the size of Fallujah! That to me would be awesome as it means I have a choice of trekking amongst the landscape, or scrapping in a tightly nit city.

I want a city in a fictional place. It's design can be influenced by US, UK and European cities.

And you could model the zombies by filming the locals for 15 minutes after the pubs chuck out.

But you wouldn't find any guns in civilian buildings...

I've said this in other threads and I'll say it again. Portland, Oregon.

One mountain close with a ski resort. Rivers with bridges to cross (beware of the snipers). Many small towns as suburbs. Forests around and in the city proper. A dock with shipping, A crazy graveyard on a hillside. A ton of good stuff. I-5 highway running through the city.

There are so many stripclubs there so if thats your thing..... Zombie strippers

If Rocket is not thinking about an American city, my inner 28 Days Later fan would love to see London.

I think a little creativity with the truth is ok. Governments have been doing it for years.
