Is there really anything in the mod powerful enough to dismember? The satchel charge maybe, and the m136 if you score a direct hit.

I'm not a fan, because i live in Germany and the authorities here are allergic to dismemberment.

If a game features dismemberment and is to be released in Germany it has be censored first and that usually means they cut more than is necessary. e.g. L4D2 has neither blood nor dead Zombies laying on the ground ...

Or take a shot to the arm with a M107

I really don't have a choice with games with dismemberment, the Australian government tends to fucks up anything that has excessive blood gore anything that looks grizzly,

Kinda surprised they did nothing to the mod.

Hello there

On the whole I don't think dismemberment would really add to the game in any real way. If a player loses a limb then most likely they'll be dead soon after anyway.

For large explosions (which on the whole would be rare) then it may be appropriate, but again not really needed.

Plus if it keeps the German censors happy it's one less issue to worry about.

The Hatchet! You could chop a fuckers head off with a powerful enough swing of that thing.

:)

The world seems to be going back to the dark ages with censorship, Seems more and more is getting banned everyday, soon we wont be able to do or watch anything unless its allowed by the authorities.

Long live freedom :)

Grenades, M107, As50, the M240, probably, the Mounted guns on the Mi7, The Hatchet, and more, I'm sure. It would add a cool effect to the game, but I wouldn't want to see it banned for other countries.

It would add many cool elements to the game, but you'd die if you didn't receive treatment immediately.

But if you did it would be cool to deal with having one arm or something.

(Clementine will remember that)

But, no, it'll get banned in other countries with strict ratings.

Unfortunately.

it would be interesting to be put, most people would kill themselves and let the new spawn with full body take all the loot. But it would be awesome for the whole atmosphere of the game, imagine seeing a crippled man who suicide, tense, but it would be like new spawns in far away areas who killed themselves, it would be like some people who kill themselves when they have broken legs... its tense and in the new interview rocket says he might add canibalism, so prolly we could have dismemberment(prolly wrote it wrong, bad english sry)

I don't think the mod has done anything to deserve a M rating here in the US. Other than blood, which looks like red clouds of pixie dust spewing out your rear. I'm pretty sure the rating board is sensitive to guns n' stuff, with the political climate right now. I don't know what the mod has going for it in terms of ratings, but I don't care what it gets in the end. As long as we can keep anyone too young to recognize the birds n' bees and consider scripts they borrowed from the internet as legitimate hacks, I think the game will be fine as it is.

Just don't show anything like you can do in real life, Governments wouldn't want that, Just have your countries young go through it and then ignore it.

Games should not represent real life situations is what sensorship tells me.

Always kind of wondered if all the hollywood hacking is influenced by the governments. You want to believe everyone every line is as traceable as a telephone and hollywood supports that view. If you want to be untraceable, you have to be the god damned best hacker of the world and you will still get traced. In reality, being untraceable is as easy as using a random unlocked or WEP protected Wifi and connecting to a VPN server in China, then making your call via skype or some other VOIP program and you roughly have at least 18h before you'd be traced and you'd only be traced if you were public enemy #1.

Wonder if that misperception is manufactured, just like real chemistry is almost never used or at least not explained.

Anyway, I disagree with UmBe. I am living in Germany, too. Generally, you get all the Steam Games in English. You can always buy from Amazon Co UK. It's just in English, but I always get my games in English. So many things are lost in translation. There are some exceptions, like Manhunt, but for them to be really forbidden, they have to be deemed as glorifying violence by a court. That's extremely rare. Manhunt is one of the games. Everything else is an index. It's not illegal to sell it, just illegal to advertise it. So you have to ask for that game. That's it. But realistically seen, DayZ with dismemberments would only get a 18 rating.

I would love to have to play with a one-armed character, but I guess it would have major disadvantages. So, in the end, I'd just set up a camp and kill myself. So for this to not happen, there must be a major advantage for keeping my character alive. Like only being able to repair cars after 24h alive or such. Or rather a long training or something. That would make a huge difference. I'd love that.
