What's your best moment in DayZ?

Mine is when I found a Toyota Hilux in fair condition. It needed some repairs so I went to the factory east of Polana.

I got half way done fixing it when I decided to go on top of the factory and check for people. Wouldn't you know it a bambi starts

coming from the south side of the factory. I met up with him outside and made sure he was friendly. After that he started to help me fix

the truck when we got shot at from a DMR. I told him to get in the truck so we could escape. After driving away not 10 seconds after

leaving the factory, a GAZ was going 100mph down the road! I tried to dodge him but he turned the same way I did and wham!

I ramp his GAZ and go flying in the air! The truck flips over in midair and falls to the ground and starts skidding down the road.

When the truck comes to a stop the bambi exits the truck and is immediately shot from the DMR! I exit the truck and run to some bushes near by.

The DMR was now distracted with the people in the GAZ. I went around him and shot him in the head!The people in the GAZ must have seen me

because I was shot and killed 5 seconds later.

Was playing on Chernarus, running through a field, someone on side chat asks if I want a heli ride. Say sure if he can find me, not 30 seconds later I hear a chopper. Hit the dirt under a pine tree. Watch him stop and begin descending, laugh my ass off as he hits the power lines and crashes. Take my new gear and continue on in search of a vehicle.

The first time I found a road flare, I decided to do a suicide run through Stary Sobor with the flare in hand. I was suprised to see that nobody got around to shooting me. But the amount of zombies trailing me was horrendous, and it took me about ten minutes of intense sprinting before I lost the last one. It was awesome.

Cherno, almost bleeding out because I broke my leg walking up the stairs in the apartments and fell unconscious. Bandaged myself and crawled across the street to the hospital. Busted the window with some cans, but can't get inside to grab morphine. Actually, started bleeding again/unconscious trying to crawl through the window. Classic.

I was in Panthera where I find a VTOL Osprey at the Northern Airfield.

I took it out for a spin and flew it around, picking up a few people as a improvised taxi service, where they can parachute out once their destination has been reached.

I was running out of fuel, and I was to lazy to go and refill it.

So I crashed it into a Chinook that was flying nearby, killing me and 3 guys in the Chinook.

They didn't like me after that...

I then heard screeching sounds, I ran and Fear drenched me.

I posted this one to reddit the other day.

Three of us were up on Green Mountain, with a Hilux and a pushbike. I jumped on the pushy and rolled out ahead of them. I was steaming down the dirt track, when I inexplicably came off the bike, losing half my health and breaking a bone. Completely baffled, I patched myself up as the lads pulled up behind me laughing.

It turned out they'd ploughed into a zombie on the way down the hill, sending it flying. They watched as it soared gracefully through the air, and hit me square in the back of the head as I rode.

i was in berezhino in the morning, i double checked for zombies, and entered the second supermarket with the 3 appartments, as i was in the supermarket looting happily i suddendly see a person entering blasting him with my fn fal, he half got me tough, as i was really sure im alone in berezhino. After that i thought quick check to the tents and hospital and then leave to find an animal and heal up. As i went to the tent i see a crashsite i decided to loot after the hospital. As i crawl to the crash side, i see 2 people running there straight, killed them both, started looting the crashsite and get shot ( guess i was too hasty and they had a third or fourth man as backup)

should drink a cup of coffee before playing.

My best moment was this past weekend, I was on the outskirts of Cherno on the northern side on the Factory and was moving east. I watched a bicycle with a trail of zombies come into Cherno from the east and head directly to the apartments across from the hosp(which I had just looted). On side chat the cyclist called out the large number of zombies and his need for medical attention so I crawled my way back over and called him to the roof of the hospital. I showed him the box full of medical supplies, gave him a trasfusion and then did a Batman. Right after healing him I climbed off the roof and booked it into the woods while he asked where I'd gone. I had never played medic before. Feels good man.

I wrote this up as a story - it's in the DayZ stories thread if you care to look (where's that gone, btw?)

Anyway, I think I was in Stary or somewhere similar. A city with a supermarket opposite an office. I was in the office looting, and I was sure I could hear footsteps. Every time I stopped, so did they - but I was convinced there was someone else in the building too.

So I jumped into a side room, and sure enough, two guys - one in camo fatigues - come running down the stairs, flashing their guns and clearly hunting for me. They backed out of the office and went into the market, but they aggroed some zombies on the way. From that moment on all hell broke loose.

I could see out the front door of the office, and the guy in fatigues was at the entrance of the market, blasting away while his buddy was in back. This was back in the day when zombies could knock you out with a lucky punch, and one must have landed one on camo guy, as he got flattened and eaten pretty soon.

His buddy retreated further into the market, shooting at the zombies coming in, but he forgot about the side door. Sure enough, a second horde came barreling in and slammed right into him.

I ran to the first floor and began to shoot through the window in an effort to save him, but it was useless, He got swarmed and eaten too.

When it was over I picked off the remaining Zs, looted the corpses (Hey! An M4!) and snuck out of town.

This all played out in real time right in front of me and made me addicted to DayZ from that moment on.

We were playing in the same area and there was a crash site on ours too. Buddy ended up finding an M107 and I got an FN Fal out of the deal. We shot a cow, cooked its meat in all of our glory... Then something weird happened, and low and behold a hacker turned everyone's gear back to default setup. Joy joy.

I took down a chopper with a makarov once. They say it isn't possible but when it's a bad 11 year old pilot who is hovering above you, it's possible. My story goes like this,

I was in elektro looting when a chopper comes and decides it would be a good idea to hover about 70ish meters above me. I start shooting at the pilot and he clearly panicked. He attempted to turn around and stalled out crashing into the firestation. I hear him start screaming over direct chat to help him. I decide that I'll bandage him then make him give me his gear when a guy with an AK pops up and kills me.

It was my second day of playing dayz, just got a grasp of the inventory system and found a lee enfield and a alice pack, i had a lot of food and a bit of meds i headed up this dirt track i didnt know where i was i ended up running and i made it to stary at the time i was just happy to see a town after crouch running for miles on end, i saw a group of 4 looting the military tents and i just decided to head to the tents to see why there was 4 people in one place, it was a group of bandits of course and i managed to get close but they were all talking on direct chat, and the one guy had seen me nd said shoot him so i pulled up my lee enfield my adreniline running through my body i was shaking my heart racing i had never felt this expierence in a game before, i shot two guys and the other guys decided to seperate and run different ways away from me i never felt so accomplished in a game knowing i survived, i picked up an AK74 from one of the guys i killed and some ammo from the tents i ended up running back down to elektro and i survive with that character for 11 days and i played about 4/6 hours a day, and then i teamed up with a few people and i felt a lot safer with team mates to help me out!

I'm searching a gas station just outside of Cherno for loot. All of a sudden, some bandit drives up in a black SUV and honks the horn like he wants me to wipe down the windows or something. So I pull out my AK and fill him up...leaded.

My two squad-mates spawned in vorkuta. Almost as soon as they sign in they are shot at, one dies, one is pinned down. I start to head to vorkuta when i come across a fully working\gassed mi-17 heli. I then pick up the friend that was killed, and move to the back gunner seat. We reach vorkuta and see a Huey ready to take off from one of the construction buildings I begin to open fire, disabling the heli and taking out 2 of the 6 bandits.

As this is going down my squad-mate that was still in vorkuta made his way up the building killing 2. We finally land the helo on the building, kill the last of the 6 person squad, grab the loot and get away. This 3 vs 6 squad battle was one of my finest dayZ moments

I somehow formed a pack of like 8 survivors without even trying. I don't really know how it happened. People just kind of started following me around as I gathered my food and weapons. I also ended up being the doctor of the group since I had like an entire hospital in my pack.

Oh the adventures we had, until we encountered some crazed gunmen and everyone was shot, me being the sole survivor of the firefight, bleeding, fresh out of bloodbags, and being chased by zombies because of all the gunfire. There was another similar group forming up in Balota and they had blood. I was near Elektro, I quickly bandaged and ran all the way there with barely any blood, blurry vision, and having to deal with my character passing out every few minutes.

I made it there and recovered though. It was quite an eventful day. :)

My best moment was for 2 hours ago, when I was playing the new Thirsk map. I met some guys in Thirsk, and we threw a party in a church. 5 more guys joined, seeing the smoke and road flares, and then we decided to go to the airfield. We did syncrhonized swimming, a 10-man church party and all died in the airfield.

My best moment was actually my latest character. I hadn't played DayZ for a long time until the day before yesterday. I started playing Namalsk, and I instantly fell in love with this map and the new way of playing, especially since this server had more vehicles. It started with me hearing a chopper crash and decided to avoid the smoke I saw in the distance because I figured there'd be some decked out dudes ready to shoot anyone.

I headed down to the river where I saw a Fisherman's boat in the distance. This is the first boat I've ever gotten in DayZ. It took me about an hour to swim over to it and this dropped my temperature so much that my character started shaking like crazy and coughing all the time. But the boat worked thankfully, I took off. But I noticed the boat didn't have much fuel. So I just decided I should probably be able to get somewhere before it runs out. I drove the boat for a while until I saw what looked like a military complex on the right side of the river. I thought about going there but then just decided to keep going. Then I heard gunshots, and sure enough those bullets started hitting the side of my boat from the military complex.

I looked and looked but I couldn't see anyone at all. Thankfully he wasn't a very good shot and just kept shooting the boat all while not damaging it. But just as soon as I started to get away, the boat ran out of fuel and completely shut down. I tried to get it to work, but it was no use and the bullets were getting closer to me. So I dived out of the boat leaving it in the middle of the river and using it as cover as I took a while to get back to the shore of the island that I was on. I got back in the water safely and there were no more gunshots. I surveyed the military complex and still couldn't see anyone.

But now I had an objective, I set out to find some fuel and bring it back to the boat. I eventually came upon an industrial complex and snuck inside a warehouse that was surrounded by zombies. I searched through it and eventually found a Jerry Can. I think started to sneak my way back out but while I was in the door way, BAM, gunshots scared the crap out of me and the bullets where hitting right next to me. I quickly prone rolled back inside and ran up the warehouse stairs. In all my time of playing DayZ before, I had never been in a firefight, I always just got shot and died. But I was ready this time. As I waited for the shooter to come through the door, I realized something. The gun he was using sound exactly like the gun the gunman who was shooting my boat was using. I thought maybe this was the same guy. I waited for a little bit longer but I never heard footsteps or anything. Then the server reset. I had had enough intensity for that day, so I logged off.

Now today, I came back to the game. Now that I had the Jerry Can, I made the run back to my boat. The server had reset a lot of times, and it had been a whole day, but to my immense surprise, my boat was still there, sitting in the exact same spot I left it. I swam out to the boat and used my Jerry Can on it. Got a confirmation that it had filled the boat up to 20. I got in the boat, but it wouldn't move. The fuel meter was still empty. So basically this was a futile trip. While I was seeing what was wrong with my boat, I turned around to the shore and noticed someone standing on the beach watching me. Scared me, but I noticed he was talking to me in the chat. He said "Hello out there. Is that boat working?" I explained the situation to him to which he replied it sucked and he was sorry. Then he ran off into the forest. This guy could have shot me right there, and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, but he decided to be friendly and leave me be. One of the few times I've encountered someone like that.

So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try refueling one more time. I returned to the industrial complex to find that two more Jerry Cans had spawned... and there was a chopper. I didn't know how to fly a chopper but I was sure as hell going to try. I snuck my way to the Jerry Cans and picked one up. But I didn't have time to clear my backpack for the second Jerry Can because I noticed not far from me, there was a horde of zombies running around. Then I saw a player. I freaked out, and ran for it. If I had tried to fly the chopper, this man most likely would have shot me out of it before I could lift off.

So with only one Jerry Can, I made my way back to my boat which was yet again, still there. But this time, over at the military complex, there was a chopper, looked like it was picking people up. I was so distracted by it that when I got closer to my boat I ran right in to a player with a double barrel. He turned around and saw me and ran past me. I figured he was friendly, so I turned and started running to my boat. But bam, he shot me right in the back. Thankfully it didn't make me bleed, so I ran around so he couldn't get a second shot on me. My adrenaline was pumping, I had never fought another player. I had done my best the whole time I've played DayZ to only shoot zombies. But this time, it was him or me. So with his second shot of and him reloading, I took this my first shot. This was the first time I had even fired a weapon with this character. It hit him, but he shot back, hitting me and making me bleed this time. We ran and circled each other, he shot and missed. I took a shot, keep in mind, this was all in third person on Veteran without crosshairs. I broke his leg with that shot and down he went. I couldn't get a good shot on him while he was down, so I risked going in to first person.

My character was sick and his temperature was as low as possible. He was shaking uncontrollably, making first person view very difficult. Then, the guy finished reloading and took another shot and me. He broke my legs, but as soon as he did, my shotgun was pointed right at his head. I shot and finally, it was over. Death confirmation popped up, and he completely lied down. My character collapsed his legs broken and having lost so much blood that my vision was pure black and white, blurry and shakey. I quickly bandaged my self up. I sat and rested because that was crazy. The first firefight I've ever been in. I could still see my boat, and I started crawling to the edge of the shore. But with my hunger at critical levels, my blood basically completely gone, and my temperture as low as possible, I died not long after with the boat in my view, the helicopter from the military complex flying over me and the jerry can in my inventory. I then messaged on side chat telling everyone that my boat was out there and my body had a Jerry can on it.

That was utterly my most amazing playthrough on DayZ.

I always play with my brother. We are friendly and it has bitten us pretty bad. We had a guy playing as if he was new and asking for help. We offered to help and were even going to give him a car. We loaded up the car with good weapons and gear that we thought would get him off to a good start. Long story short, this is dayz and it was a setup. My brother was killed. OK, done being nice. So on the server we play, we hear someone playing the same game of help me, I'm new. We knew it was a setup. They ended up killing some newb. We then made it our mission to take this guy out. It took about a week and we almost got him. We heard him and some other guys talking on side chat about finding and fixing some buses. They are all excited about their convoy and chatting up about going to elektro. Well my brother and I are close so we head over to set up an ambush. We get in place on a hill and watch them rolling in. My brother has the M4 with grenade launcher. I have an M4 SD and a DMR. So we plan to blow the first bus and then kill everybody. They had some guys with them that seemed new but hey, choose your friends wisely. So my brother let's loose with the high explosives. I then snipe the 2 guys in the other bus. Unfortunately, the 2 Bambi killers battle log when my brother blows the bus. The 2 I sniped were not who we were looking for and had no idea what happened. I felt bad but it was fun. If I run across the newbs again, I will help them but the other 2 still have their just rewards coming to them. Tonight, they will die.

Found a lee enfield in the fire station of cherno, went to the rooftop. I saw a guy in a ghille sniping people, in self defense I shot it got a headshot, I went up there and noticed he had an AS50 & M4 CCO.
