Zero HUD

Am I correct when I say we're no longer going to have a HUD in the SA?

Yup this is pretty much what is being done. My aim is zero HUD, how possible this will be remains to be seen.

As noted above, removing them ["crosshairs"] would go in line with the removal of essentially all the other UI elements (such as ammo count etc...).

maybe make the character make a desparate, soooo thirsty! sound effect lol.

The current looting/interaction design would make zero HUD quite frustrating for a lot of people. This could, however, be solved in other ways like your character reaching out with his/her hand or atleast something to indicate that "you may now open this door". Otherwise we'll just spam keys and 'fumble in the dark'.

As long as some basic HUD is here (ammo count, weapon, blood), I'm fine with removing most HUD elements

Perhaps it will be integrated into part of the inventory screen, like another window or something. Perhaps it would appear on screen only briefly when the status (thirst, hunger etc.) changes level?

You can count aprox. how many bullets you have shot and I believe that you can test how heavy your magazine is in the standalone just like in ACE mod or count them if needed, you can see your weapon on your hands better with alt and you can watch the full name in the gear menu, you can guess your health about the color of your screen.

I'm sure there will be some kind of text on your screen for a couple of seconds when you get hungry, you're bleeding etc. and then you also will see/hear some nice effects if the HUD is removed completely.

//Ok have to say that we need either different key for grenades etc. or character should take those in hands if equipped because you can't tell if you have them equipped in Arma. That's where you are right in that you should see what weapon you have on.

Like the cartoons of old other character would morph into steaks and waterbottles.

Lol would be terrible if you tried to sneak up on someone then your character starts whining about how hungry he/she is.

just don't sacrifice stable and logical gameplay for the sake of this mission, rocket. some hud elements probably will be necessary, using sound bytes isn't all that much better than relying on an icon for the stuff that just doesn't make sense (such as thirst).

If i ever die without realizing I'm hungry, thirsty, broke my leg, where i was shoot from, or that my player was getting cold and sick that would be ridiculous. Authenticity > realism
