Don't expect something like that, maybe later in development if at all.

a great and fun game it is and that the creators of DayZ will be getting more money. That would make me happy. Great post DMC14

I just won't be able to stand the kids at my school talking about DayZ. It's what ruined Minecraft for me, too...

if If and as-if.

Though it be convinant, has anyone ever seen/played a game that was/is/will-be better than before, after 'porting'?

If you answer yes, pm me your dealers number ;)

I think its funny how some people feel "violated" if one of their precious pc games gets ported, or hell, even RELEASED on console! I'm a GAMER, i like video games, be that on pc, xbox, ps3 or gameboy advance. I like to have a choice as to what platform i can play a game of my choosing. Why is that so wrong?

Rocket might license someone else to optimize DayZ for xbox, PS5 and advanced self aware Japanese toilets if DayZ sells a million copies.

Perhaps it may also be pronounced Day-Zed.

Both are correct. I have no idea why people call it Days though, that makes no sense :/

Adding to the console comments, here are Rockets recent posts on the subject

It's just basic maths really. Anyone in the video game industry would say the same thing, once a game reaches a certain point - the likelihood of some kind of console port becomes quite high. Cross-platform releases are about maximizing sales. I care about zero for consoles, personally. I have an Xbox 360 they gave me with my tv, I played for about a few hours and it just wasn't for me. I used to work at Sidhe interactive and that really reinforced for me I don't like console GAMES nor the DEVELOPMENT of them. But many people do, so I would personally not have anything against a DayZ console port - although I struggle to see how I would personally be involved in such a development. I mean, I really couldn't care if there was a current gen console port. Anyone thinking my comments constitutes news really bemuses me, it's seems very obvious to me: certain number of sales = console port = more sales?

If it was developed concurrently cross platform then yes, it would impact (i.e. Skyrim, XCOM). I would be, ahem, very unhappy with such a thing.

But if independently of PC, it gets released on the Mac, iPhone, casio wristwatch, tibetian-ceremonial-balsa-wood-entertainment-drums ... who really cares? 2012 is the year of the PC game, the console manufactures know it, and they need to deliver for 2013 and beyond. We make the PC standalone development the best it can be... and if that translates well to another platform, cool! it means more players, and ultimately more customers.

DayZ was/is made to be the game that I want to play, not that makes the most money. I don't enjoy console games, I don't like the controller and the lack of options they currently present from a design perspective. There's not really any redeeming features for me, currently, for a console that would make me drop the PC. I've worked in console development before, didn't care much for it.

I dunno what your all so worried about... Let the consoles have DayZ!!!!

The standalone making its way onto other platforms doesnt worry me in the slightest... and if your a PC gamer, it shouldn't worry you either...

There is one simple reason for this.....

It is simply too hard, too time consuming, and faaar to expensive, to get multiple instances of the same game, on multiple platforms, to connect to the same game server....

Meaning that IF standalone does make it onto other platforms ( which i actually hope to see in the future) the Xbox gamers and the PC gamers (and any combination of the differing platforms) cannot play together on the same server....

So dont worry.... even if it goes to console... the Xbox and Ps3 gamers wont be able to play with you.....

If it were to come on console it would probably have to be on the next gen consoles Xbox 720, PS4 and maybe the new steam box etc.

People are more concerned that PC development will be hindered or dumbed down for consoles as has happened with many many other PC titles. Everyone knows cross-platform play is pretty much non-existent so that isn't really something people are worried about.

If it did get ported to a console the controller would have to look like this.
