scaramoosh 162 Posted January 1, 2013 I mean once you get used to it there is no problem, my only gripes are things like bolts not stacking or how you cannot get a nice view of your bag unless you're looting. However what I really like about it is you know it is going to take time to loot, you cannot simply run over a body and auto pick up really quickly. So this creates interesting gameplay in if you kill someone, do you stick around and loot or do you back off in case there have a friend?I really like that aspect of it and if they speed up the looting process it'll be something that is lost and I think that is a shame.
Testwd3r235 2810 Posted January 1, 2013 I agree, I hope rocket doesn't change the gear system the slightest in the SA.
TheBambiProtector 0 Posted January 1, 2013 So its not just me , i really love the inventory system , its hard to get used to at the start but when you've got tens of hours gametime its the best inventory system ive ever used. It cant just be us though , the only people who dont like it are either noobs or genuinely havent got used to it for some reason...
Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 1, 2013 I don't hate it like some people seem to but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to change. ^_^
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted January 1, 2013 Right on the money, Even though its more rigid than a 16 year old at prom I love it like its my own.

Testwd3r235 2810 Posted January 1, 2013 I don't hate it like some people seem to but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to change. ^_^I love it, it really works as the best set-up I've seen, second would be TES: Oblivion but DayZ/Arma is the best.
smore98 225 Posted January 1, 2013 I have grown accustomed to it very much, and I certainly don't want it removed in the SA......but I would recommend some settings for the Inventory UI so those who think otherwise can give another layout a try.Just something for economic opinion and general approve. jaytmuk (DayZ) 621 Posted January 1, 2013 I love some bits of it, and hate some bits, I deff love the middle mouse scroll bit :)And the backpack bits ok, but the toolbelt isnt that great, having to drop items like a gun in order to pick up an axe to put onto your toolbelt isnt that great :)
a_typical_noob 651 Posted January 1, 2013 I'd have to say, it definitely beats the Resident Evil inventory system. But just barely.I can't wait to see the SA's improved inventory management.
jaytmuk (DayZ) 621 Posted January 1, 2013 Also i hope they keep the inventory system a little fiddly to use cos that builds tension having to pick something up can be nerve racking whilst zombies and players could be around
Leto (DayZ) 72 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) I got used to the DayZ inventory, but it's still crap. The game needs a drag and drop inventory like the one in the STALKER games where you clearly see what's on the groud, what's in your bag and the space it needs. klesh 2423 Posted January 1, 2013 I got used to it, but it's still crap. The game needs a drag and drop inventory...I agree. To keep it fiddly as it was so well put above, you could even have a slight progress bar which happens each time you make and inventory movement, to get that same suspense and clunkiness that adds to the experience. I'm pretty sure it would take a few seconds to slide an AS50 into one's backpack irl.
a_typical_noob 651 Posted January 1, 2013 We also need an updated Car and Tent inventory system. It's such a pain in the ass as is.
jaytmuk (DayZ) 621 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Could the new Dayz standalone have a pickup system like this? :PImagine running around cherno like this picking stuff up lolhttp://youtu.be/FSaSzS1uNTgJoke ofc :) Edited January 1, 2013 by jaytmuk

I would make it so that if you carry a second rifle or shotgun, it's slinged over your left shoulder or across your back under the backpack.
MOS182 63 Posted January 1, 2013 I'd like to see it changed but I agree with OP's point about it shouldn't have the player being able to automatically pick things up

BwobBwub 660 Posted January 1, 2013 It can be a pain in the arse sometimes, but im used to it. I think an easier inv system would be nice though.
bigdogsco 143 Posted January 1, 2013 Are we for or against the bag destroying things that won't fit ie weapons?
bfisher 561 Posted January 1, 2013 It's ok. But there are some things that definitely need to be fixed or improved:Packs "eating" weapons if there is no roomThe whole "remove from toolbelt" thing to use flashlights or hatchets. They should just be cycled with F like flares and other weapons. For that matter, F should also cycle from your main weapon to your sidearm. Not being able to see the contents of the pack unless you are picking up items. If I'm looting a tent, body or vehicles storage, it's not always clear if I'm moving an object to the pack, my inventory, dropping it on the ground or to the tent/body/vehicle. Hetstaine 10852 Posted January 1, 2013 Its one of the main areas we spend time in have got used to in the mod and even though it can be a glitchy hassle i will shed a tear when it is gone, big man tears.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted January 1, 2013 It will be a sad loss. Progress, eh?Now i am all choking up, staring out the window as Air Supply's "All Out of Love" starts playing.
harley001 315 Posted January 1, 2013 My main issue is it is to slow. It takes to long to pick something up or drop something.
