Couple of moronic logic's that should be fixed.

Recommended Posts

Did you read the other half of my post?

This also doesn't disprove my point of it being pointless and having too minute effects for any real consideration.

sure propably not, but 240 grams, of the plain old coke, has 9% of your daily total recommended calorie intake, so i would call it a large enough effect. especially if you down aprox 350 grams every 3 hours. 1400 grams a day if you drink nothing but sodas, = close to 52% of your daily calorie intake, tell me that is a small amount of the energy your body needs? please tell me that is a minute effect, look at the obesity of the western world and soda consumption, tell me again it is a minute effect. OR wait, maybe you are one of them ;D and you drink soda like water, nah just pulling your leg, but seriously... a minute effect?

You should consider that a person's metabolic rate will increase while under strain, while physically active and while exposed to cold environments.

So whatever you're quoting as the recommended daily intake of food energy will be wrong in this scenario anyway.

the intake is from finnish health authorities based on a 2000 calorie daily intake, based on a manual labor workers daily routine, so even if you double that, the daily intake of sodas would still give you aprox a quarter of the daily energy intake, so it still would have an impact on your daily energy intake, For comparison 300 grams of heinz baked beans in tomato sauce, have 13% of the daily calorie intake, so if we are living on 2-3 cans of baked beans and the 4 cans of soda that amount to 52% of the daily intake on the same calorie intake / day. So if logic is to be followed, drinking sodas should have an impact on the hunger'o meter, not as big as a can of beans, but hey, i am driving for logic here, and logic dictates it should be, not what your daily intake should be according to how active you are etc, etc, but that would be hell of a nice feature, if the food and drink intake would correlate with those, instead of being on a set clock.

Logic dictates I'd die if I drank nothing but sugar cans in this situation.

As I stated, this would require an entire caloric system added to the game to balance it out; which is not what you suggested.

A caloric system would add realism but would dictate a survivor's life entirely on food and eating, and at that point the more entertaining and exciting points of the game are lost. If I want to balance a diet and watch caloric intake I'll do that for my real self.

I would be seriously impressed if anyone managed to pull off such a feat for the sake of a game.

People talk about "immersion" and "authenticity" with regards to DayZ, and it's true we've been given one of the best examples. Still, there's quite a lot lost when you realise how simple some of the mechanics are.

It's entirely forgiveable. I wouldn't want to say a bad word about DayZ, it's awesome. But there is always room for improvement.

-The shotgun ammo system, the ammo is the same, just in different stacks, so what is stopping us from using shots from an 8 stack on a double barreled shotgun... litelarry nothing, except the dev :S

I looked at the start and skinning with an Axe used for cutting down Trees and breaking doors the "Hatchet" Is a Fire Axe its too big to do the Delicate Skinning a Tomahawk would be able to do that kind of things to cut with the axe you would immediatly make well... Mush

Your telling me you would get picky in a survival situation? you do know all you need to do is gut the animal, then chop lobs of meat, the skin comes off when it is cooked, consider yourself a lil bit wiser now princess :)

It's already been mentioned it might change for the standalone, you have to understand what worked for a 2009 military simulator, might not be 110% perfect for DayZ today. Hardly anyone used double-barreled shotguns back then to stage frontal assault on a mechanized division. The way weapons were coded to ArmA's somewhat mission restricted needs, isn't perfect for DayZ's more MMO-like approach. Rocket has already stated that the way weapons are coded in the standalone, offers far more advanced options and I believe ammunition are also being looked over.

Nothing wrong with your suggestions, but you could also attempt to act more contructive, rather like someone who's personally be slapped in the face, when the code was written in 2009.

well it baffles me that it could be that hard to simply change the double barreled slightly to accept the 8 tacks, and why not the 15 stacks too(1866 slug stack) considering all the other things that have been done with arma.

First of all, your character probably do alot more physical needed stuff than your lazy ass sitting in your boys room infront of the pc, so he needs more energy.

second. LOL gl gutting an animal with an axe. HAHAHAHA.

third. This game is in ALPHA stage. Wait with the whining untill SA is released.

It's because Arma doesn't support shotgun reloads. If you gave the double barreled the ability to use 8 and 15 round ammo, you would have a double barreled that held 8 or 15 rounds because that's how arma works.

The Winchester should be a .44 Henry, so you won't be using any "1866 slugs" as shotgun shells anyway

I'm pretty sure the way ammo is handled would come under "inventory management" to some degree, and we've been told this is completely overhauled for SA.

LOL gl gutting an animal with an axe. HAHAHAHA.
Wut?

Are you being intentionally dense here? I doubt in the same scenario you would struggle to gut a beastie with an axe.

More to the point, you wouldn't even have to do any gutting. Get your cut of meat however you can, job done.

It's survival, not Master-Chef.

If you've ever skinned or butchered anything, you know, after the first cut, it can mostly be achieved by ripping and tearing with just your hands.

It won't be pretty, but it'll get the job done.

I love how suggestion on logical fallacies in the game and it's engine became a discussion on whether or not you can skin a deer with an axe or not.

So i'll weigh in, no supermarket in the world would ever take deer meat skinned and butchered with an axe, everyone probably agrees with that. There's our starting point. Now whether or not you get edible meat out of a dead deer with an axe or not remains irrelevant. I'm sure in the zombie apocalypse if you got hungry and managed to kill a deer, you wouldn't just stand there angry with your axe in hand thinking "damit, I have all this meat but i can't get it out of this deer without a proper knife." So it's a valid argument on game restrictions being illogical and that shouldn't be up for discussion. Just point it out and the devs will get to fixing it when other more important things are done.

4000-5000 calories, active infantry mans daily recommended intake during combat activity. so the 2000 calorie thing gives a good point to compare it to, 4 cans of coke a day(every 3 hours) gives 52% of the calories needed daily for a normal person, so it can easily be 20% for a combatant.

Btw the amount of calories / 100g of beans is only marginally larger(1-3%) so yeah it can have an effect, goes to show, you are as dumb s your avatar looks.

Second, as long as the axe/hatchet is sharp enough to cut a log, you can put enough force on a whack to chop meat.

Third, good luck surviving in the wilderness, i feel bad for anyone who would be stuck with you.
