Quaby 93 Posted November 19, 2012 My only beef with ArmA is how fucking hilarious it is in spots....so unpolished and hard to believe, really took away from the great concept and fair gameplay...and I did play it a good bit, and played the Namalsk Crisis mod, which was scary as hell. AND, life mods are hilarious :D
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted November 19, 2012 My reasoning for sticking tight and I mean tight with DayZ is that I played the tits out of Arma2 and OA with groups that would mil sim the dick out of teamspeaks and ruffle everyone up in butter like they were 15 year old generals. Red Rover Red Rover rolled my musty on over to DayZ and found what I was looking for.
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx 53 Posted November 19, 2012 been playing arma 2 years before dayz came out, dayz is so tiny compared to what arma 2 has to offer problem is you need a lot of patience and tolerance with arma 2 and many people (including myself at times) lack that.
Lepryy 54 Posted November 19, 2012 Obviously the only mod you've played for ArmA II is DayZ.. allow me to introduce you to ACE: Here's a short yet fun and exciting bit of itWhat is this? Like 20 people camping in a hole shooting at choppers?
privatewolf 59 Posted November 19, 2012 No, that's about Brick's Suicidal Charge... and if you were wondering what else would they do than stay in a ditch and return fire?
Inception. 9443 Posted November 19, 2012 What is this? Like 20 people camping in a hole shooting at choppers? What, do you think that they're just going to run out? That ditch over there provided the post possible cover for them.
Draxx (DayZ) 61 Posted November 20, 2012 When I needed a break of DayZ, I tried Takistan Life Revolution. And I was baffled - fantastic! I also bought Arma 2 only because of DayZ, but this game has so many to offer. I will stick with DayZ SA, but ArmA is a really good game and very immerse. And for all the flamers who are bitching about buying ArmA for DayZ: You should be old enough to realize you buyed a game for a free mod. No one forced you to buy it. So don't cry and be happy to have a good game for a low price.I am surely not regretting that I buyed ArmA. With that I got a great mod which I always wanted to have and I support Bohemia. That is fine to me.
Tabris07 159 Posted November 20, 2012 I bought Arma II after discovering some DayZ videos on YouTube. After I realized that I sucked horribly at surviving, I tried out the original Arma II campaign in order to try and improve with the controls. After I had played for a bit I became hooked and go back to it regularly (despite the voice acting, oh god). I'm also going to be trying out ACE soon when I have the time. It's definitely worth trying out the other parts of Arma II rather than just DayZ.
Zarniwoop 1193 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) If you want to play ArmAII vanilla with dayz installed just run it from this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead and run Arma2 OA Beta Patch shortcut. :) Edited November 20, 2012 by Zarniwoop
Mr Nasty 1023 Posted November 20, 2012 Rather than Arma opening me up to DayZ it was the opposite but im a happy camper either way.Really looking forward to Arma III now.
smallhil 26 Posted November 20, 2012 You know Psysyndicate is posting Wasteland videos on YT now, I think there even better then his Dayz ones. It's nice to see Arma getting some recognition it deserves, just hope the hackers and scripters stay away from the Domination or Wasteland servers.
Hetstaine 10852 Posted November 21, 2012 What, do you think that they're just going to run out? That ditch over there provided the post possible cover for them. I generally look for real cover but if a post is all there is then so be it.
Jex =TE= (DayZ) 218 Posted November 21, 2012 what's the Zeus ACE AI like?Been playing since OFP - I would suggest try playing a coop mission against the AI with your friends and it'll be the most realistic experience in gaming you'll probably ever have as long as you play it right (and u don't get one-shotted with a pistol at 300m)
Mastiff (DayZ) 42 Posted November 21, 2012 I bought Arma 2 pretty much when it came out, though I didn't enjoy it. DayZ gave it a life line for me.

mzltv 2281 Posted November 21, 2012 The only thing that annoys me about the MP for Arma2 now is there's essentially zero CTI's running anymore.CTI used to be my bread and butter ;(
disorder 344 Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) Check out warfare its the renamed CTI. You can even turn any map into warfare by dropping modules on it from the editor. Edited November 21, 2012 by disorder
marcjpb 5 Posted November 21, 2012 Spend 30$ on arma2 and exp pack. I never try arma and only bought it for days. I am still having fun with the game.Wasted money ? It kept me entertain me for a long time so worth any penny of it.
dunnobe 3 Posted November 21, 2012 For those who want to try something else (next to ACE).There's Project Reality, a team vs team based mod and City Life RPG 2 mod, a pretty hardcore role play mod (a lot more hardcore than the Takistan or Chernarus Life RPG versions)
SwissArmy (DayZ) 5 Posted November 22, 2012 I bought and played Arma II before DayZ was out. Arma II is fantastic. I still play on the servers. DayZ is fantastic too. There is little reason not to play both.
xfortune 91 Posted November 22, 2012 If I was stuck playing vanilla DayZ, I think I would have quit long ago.Private hives and mods are the shit though. I joined DayZ Redux a couple weeks ago and it breathed new life into DayZ for me.
