Please stop the hackers

Title says it all... I'm a very light gamer and this is just about the only game I play right now but to be honest Im about done with it due to hackers.

Last 4 times I've played (this is spread over a week or more period) Ive been killed by a hacker in increasingly weird and frustrating circumstances.

In the first case I found myself being continuously showered with glass as someone threw or generated about 30 whisky bottles or something and lobbed them at me while I was inside a room.

Next time in truely sureel fashion someone shoots me then revives my body taking full control of me. he walked me around the map behind him like a puppy and I have not the faintest idea how.

The next time an invisible man walks into a room I am in and sets up razor wire at the exit then a ghost push bike rides at me repeatedly running into me until I die. I shot at the thing with all I had but as you could imagine unkillable.

Last time I got into a shoot out with a guy and after some fun exchanges of fire a message apears on my screen saying something about god mode and I ended up booted from the game for some rule violation. Trust me I'm too noobish to run one of these hacks even if I knew how so I'm asuming someone took control of the boot function and kicked me as payback for shooting his mate (which I might add I did well!)

long story short I'm starting to hate playing this game. Please someone tell me something is being done cause I've seen hackers in here since day 1 but never to the extent I've got over the last week. I can only asume we've lost the war against them and they run the show now?

Those are some funny hacks. I almost want to applaud them... Almost.

But yes, find a private hive with active admins, and hackers should no longer be a problem. You don't have to register or anything (unless it's a whitelist server). Do you use DayZ Commander?

OP - Take a look at the private hive area and find one that looks well established. Some may have passwords which means you may have to go to their forums to get it. Spend some time finding a good one and your problems will be over.

Private Hives have a lesser amount of Script Kiddies on them, some of the best admined ones are in that thread.

Hopefully most of the problems will be sorted come the Stand Alone but as it stands using the ARMA engine it is almost impossible to clean up the Script Kiddies completely....

Thank you for the tips guys. I was unaware what the 'hives' were about to be honest but gave one a try before and had the pleasure of being legitimatly killed by someone playing fair. Was a good shot too, I just about had him lined up when he snapped me on he run!

A private hive does nothing to stop a hacker. It just makes it slightly more inconvenient. If any thing a private hive is more of a juicy target that would motivate said hacker to spend the 2 minutes signing up.

Until the standalone come out there is nothing more really any one can do.

aye and no, from experience running a server myself i found the amount of Script Kiddies fell dramatically when running a private server as Admins have more control over them, it does send a message of fear out in a way, trust me the chances of bumping into a script kiddie on a public server is like 10x more likely than on a private hive

Private hives definitely are more secure and advanced, so you might wanna try one or few PVs before totally giving up on DayZ.

Granted Standalone will have even more advanced anti-cheat but until then PVs are quite fine to play on + you've got more to do.

It is true that hackers can still get into hives.

At GamerExit we strive to reduce the amount of hackers, by reviewing the players signing up to play as well as constantly having admins our servers to insure that if there is a hacker it quickly dealt with.

In the event the hacker has unfairly messed up everyones game the admins are willing to set the server back, so that your character and content is not affected.

You are all wrong. Private hives have hackers too. Lots of them. I played on a couple of private hive servers that have gotcha antihack, Antihax, active admins. At the end, I got nuked in all of them... Only way to survive just for 5 days is to apply for whitelist servers, but since they enabled the sidechat, they f..k all the enjoy of the game. (including their starting gears, carepackages, +1000000000000 cars and blah blah bullshits, guns'N'roses etc.)

Let me tell you something, they did a very nice mod, but just admit that, hackers or Script kiddies owns every server they want right now. Its done, you cannot eliminate all the hackers, and probably they will show themselves in SA too.

Im still playing on public ones, running around, killing some zeds, cooking meats and just chilling. You cannot do far than that atm...

I had the weirdest evening in DayZ today. I played on unofficial servers for a while now, because I mainly play DayZ as a single player game after a really frustrating death through a bandit.

But being bound to one server has its downsides: One server, I had a good setup on, went offline and never came back, On another server I couldn't find a car etc.

So I decided to go on an official server again, but died in a warehouse "somehow". I just turned around, suddenly my character took damage, broke a bone and then fell through the steel gangway I was standing on and died.

Later I started another character and changed the server. On this new server I could somehow beam me around by clicking on the map in-game. So I could just "beam" myself around the map and get myself equipped. Thanks to a dead sniper near Sobor I even got NV googles and a coyote backpack. So I left the strange server and tried to join another. After a few failed attempts with "never ending" loading screens, I was finally able to join a server, only to die immediately and die again and again without even leaving the game or start a new character.

So I returned to the "beam" server and got myself another character jumping from building to building. I also found the UAZ (red) in Sobor, which was already repaired, only the four wheels were missing. So I jumped to a few industrial buildings, got myself four wheels and a Jerry Cans. I repaired the car and drove away. Then the server was restarted, ending the hack or whatever it was, that let me beam around, but now I have a car and decent equip. So I have to see, how long that will last on the server. All of this was very strange. Just dieing without reason, being able to teleport myself somehow and instantly die while joining another server...
