Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 8, 2012 I think what he is saying and what I agree with is there needs to be more content. What I really want to know is what the Standalone is planning to offer us. Is it just the DayZ mod, with rewritten zombies and some more enterable buildings? I think the user interface and a lot other things need A LOT of work . Just manipulating your gear is a pain in the ass, and I am tired of counting how many slots are in my tent before items start to disappear. I don't think this game will be anywhere near ready by end of the year.I stopped playing for months because I had gotten bored. I am not a computer gamer really because I am horrible with keyboard and mouse, and most games I have ever played on the PC were MMO type. This game fits in the MMO category with FPS aspects. (What Fallen Earth wished it was) There needs to be a lot more content. One of the best sandbox games I ever played was Starwars Galaxies. Huge persistant worlds and endless content. Crafting is an almost given in a game's success. Crafting alone can add so many features to the game. Whether that be making a make-shift silencer, ammo, melee weapon, etc... Also our lame excuse for "base building" options is also limiting additional content.Just ask yourself, what do you do in this game? If you find the best gear and then go hunt other players and are content... then those players will probably disagree with most things needed in the game. Though if you're like me, and finding a car and some gear isn't the most you want in the game then you are probably wanting more features. This is an MMO, whether you want to admit it or not... and here are some related content that I think it needs...Crafting: Needed in any MMO for success. Do I doubt this game will be successful? No, people have already paid for Arma 2 just to play it. Though this will help put it over the top.More basebuilding: (Whether that be something as tedious as cutting trees/making boards, making nails, building structures, etc) Just imagine how much time consuming/fulfilling it would be to just make your own tree stand? It is already time consuming to find a vehicle/repair it and you can see the fulfillment when you drive off in your new ride. This might not be for everyone, but again if it was in the game and you got bored with whatever you find fun... you will probably find enjoyment/resort to it at some point in the game. Tank traps, barbed wire.. is a crappy implement for this.Larger map: When you get 40 players in the map, there is very room for them all to fit. (One being there are only a few major cities/areas with decent loot) While this means immediate player engagement/interaction... I just think more larger cities and a variety would be nice.)Outdoors activities: We have "hunting" persay, but we could really benefit from fishing, making traps, etc. These are just a few of my "main" things I'd like to see.
Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 8, 2012 One last suggestion would be that every vehicle (minus those that do not require) have a set of car keys. Whoever posesses the car keys can start the car/drive (if it is repaired obviously). Any player can hold up to one set of keys... that will stop people from just hoarding keys. This will give you a sense of owning something and while you would still hide the vehicle it would make it harder for someone to run off with it.Now let me be clear. This hasn't happened to me but many times I have run off with someones ride. It just adds more immersive/personalized play. To go with that though, there would be a new item! Hot-wiring kits, which are consumed on use and would hot wire any vehicle you find.

Pennyworth (DayZ) 33 Posted November 8, 2012 your new "updated" post sounds like it is asking for a harder more refined version of the game. As we all know the developer stopped adding content to the Mod so that he could push forward and dedicate more time to the standalone. What we currently have is a small percent of what the end product "standalone" will have. The standalone is and will be yours/our answer to more content. We just have to wait for it to release. infi 62 Posted November 9, 2012 Install the Namalsk map... it has perfect atmosphere, kinda like STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. It's fun so far.But I do agree that for the long run there should be more areas inter-connected by loading screens, and more content. Then you got yourself a game with longevity. Because Chernarus Dayz now is really boring.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted November 9, 2012 I've thought the same myself. At what point do you stop.At present i am sick and tired of gearing up - ive done all that and i always got to the stage of paranoia because i had good stuff. Now i get more enjoyment out of respawning and adventuring in the highly populated zones. I get killed a lot but it is more fun that hiding in the forests living off steak and beans.Hopefully once the Standalone comes out we also get regular map additions and other content to keep things fresh. Perhaps even a few more randomised events or gear to be found.Or Rocket could add a Sergey Titov skinned zombie and the first one to hunt it down "wins"
joeoblong@yahoo.com 614 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Or Rocket could add a Sergey Titov skinned zombie and the first one to hunt it down "wins"This! Of course he'd show us threatening to cheat, and call up homosexual slurs. But just like the J.Wilson slime I'd be tickled rotten by it!Rocket can you make a Ben Franklin zombie named Pendragon who runs up to you spewing random insults!? He'd of course have to drop a stained handkerchief! Edited November 9, 2012 by Pendragon
Inception. 9443 Posted November 14, 2012 Toe the line Inception! You must have the same opinion as everyone else or you shall be ostracized and forced to cross out your post and beg for forgiveness from the self appointed guardians of DayZ!Nevermind, I see you've done it already.Good boy.I am not that kind of person.I state the truth, and only the truth. I crossed that text out because I did incorrectly articulate my point.
CombatWombat (DayZ) 63 Posted November 14, 2012 Don't expect tooooo much in the standalone at the beginning, I'd be happy with a map and texture revamp to begin with to be honest. Maybe a few new loot spawns here and there, with a couple new weapons thrown into the mix. I fully expect the final product to be filled with new content, and I personally cannot wait. smore98 225 Posted November 14, 2012 Sorry if I happen to with what what you are trying to ask, but...There has been no further reports on an "end-game" of DayZ, and I am unsure if there even will be one.DayZ, from what I have seen from my experience, is a story of how you died. There is no ultimate preservation or a complete domination of all infected, just your eulogy based on personal experience of your character. In DayZ, you are guarenteed death. You can cheat it, but you will eventually die from that strange entity. Now for content, I am sure that there will be an influx of weapons and vehicles (Military being the rarest overall). I am actually hoping for more civilian weaponry in the standalone, maybe even more melee! Different modes, like regular and hardcore (differences may be too long to list), and even a more user-based cooperation within survival based on what others have. I mainly hope they will bring back Chenerus, and maybe a few other maps from the mod days.I am unsure how development of the mod will proceed, but under all odds, it will be officially revived once SA is finished, and we can all have one final org- I mean, party with DayZ Mod. Erizid 56 Posted November 14, 2012 Mmm. Now that I contemplate it, I would be happy with the mere fact that everyone starts off fresh.Everyone starts off fresh, item spawning will be impossible AND tent duping will be fixed. Bam.Sidenote, if rusted out tankers offshore really are coming in standalone...SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
