    DayZ Standalone & Battleye

Most of the cheating fixes for standalone wont come from VAC, they will come from the code allowing them being totally deleted out of the game.
  2. If Rocket is going to eliminate the UI icons completely (I believe he said he wanted this), then there is no reason why 3rd person wouldn't also be eliminated to help achieve "authenticity." I personally don't like third person and only use it when I run out of painkillers and have the shakes, otherwise I get a headache from watching the screen.
  3. Is this thread supposed to be things that *aren't* in standalone that you want? Or is it just any three things you want, whether they are already confirmed or not. I see a great many 1, 2, 3 lists which contain one or two items that are already confirmed for standalone. For example, they just increased the number of zombies that spawn per player in the base mod. After the optimization in standalone, I don't think doubling it again would be unreasonable. That means there could be as many as 100 zombies spawning in a city for just one person. Personally, while roaming hordes in the forest would be scary, I think lone zombies or groups of two or three moving very quietly in the pitch dark would be even scarier. With the small groups, they could be liberally placed *EVERYWHERE*. Literally, nowhere would be safe. You would have to look over your shoulder with every small action you stop to take. I am also going to latch onto an idea someone else posted. Why isn't your body coming back as a zombie possible? There could be zombies walking around with a full backpack of gear. If they can clone you when you combat log, couldn't they also automate your body despawning and a zombie spawning with your gear in that spot? Finally, there are a number of suggestions that I see a lot that have a vastly disproportionate effort-reward ratio. Things such as pet taming should take a back seat to just about everything. Pet taming specifically should be the absolute *LAST* thing they implement before they slap the <FINISHED> sticker on the game. My personal zenith to the game will come when underground bases are implemented. Done right, they are the greatest source of constant goals that you can implement.
  4. When the server is full and I want my buddy to get in, I sometimes start typing "HACKER TELEPORTING PEOPLE INTO THE OCEAN" in all chat so people disconnect.

    Standalone could slip to 2013

My spider-sense feels like they are finishing 3 main areas. #1: Server-client communication, framework and rules. #2: I am going to guess re-coding every single loot spot in the game with the new buildings and new loot spawn locations is a task that is larger than the original DayZ mod was. #3: An organic UI and inventory system. I am adding this because I feel that if what they had was anywhere close to finished, they would've showcased it. As with any development process, unforeseen problems and delays will always pop up. You never know what tiny bit of code might cause fatal errors which takes hours of testing to fix.
  6. There are some Steam myths that I would like to dispel at this time. Number #1: If Steam were to cease to exist as a company at ANY point. I can guarantee that *ALL* single player games would be completely unaffected. You would just run Steam in offline mode and everything would be normal except your friends wouldn't see you earning sweet achievements in real time. Number #2: If Steam were to cease to exist as a company at ANY point. I can guarantee that *ALL* multi-player games would have workarounds and new servers developed *WITHIN 24 HOURS* by the internet community. If Steam and Valve were to have a nuclear bomb dropped on them and they vanished in the blink of an eye, Counter-strike and whatever else would still be playable after the fact. Number #3: When you buy a Steam game, you are given a unique product key that is still linked to your account and stored on your computer. This product key functions identically to a printed product key you receive upon buying a hard copy of a game. If Steam were to cease to exist, that key would still be accessible and the game company *should* provide you access to the game in some other way if you needed to re-download it. This would be on a case by case basis for each developer however, so I can't guarantee this. The exceptions to the above would most likely be Indie games. These games wouldn't even exist without Steam in the first place however. Once again though, even the single player Indie games would still be playable. Re-downloading them would be the only thing in question. I also feel the need to point out, If they didn't release it on Steam, we would be lucky to see the game before December 2013, let alone within a year. There are always pros and cons. Denigrating into a pro-Steam, anti-Steam discussion is completely useless in reference to DayZ.

L85 Should it stay or go

I am probably going to change my vote now. If they truly are going to make weapons and attachments separate items in Standalone, then this poll needs to be changed. I highly doubt the L85 would even spawn with any sights. Then it is just a matter of how rare is the scope, how long is the battery life and how common are batteries. All these factors add up to a much lower impact the L85 Thermal will have against other players.
  8. I think the civ weapon balance for residential is fine. You find mostly pistols and the occasional shotgun/rifle. Barns are where the civilian imbalance is. Barns are the primary source for Enfields and Winchesters. Personally I think Residential should be only pistols, Barns should be only double barrel shotgun and CZ550 with a super low spawn. Make Firehouses and Police Stations in the cities contain Enfields and Winchesters.
  9. Random story notes are fine. I can envision a base commander's log left at the new purging base they are adding. Player notes are just as valuable however. I think there would need to be some limiting/decay factor so the world doesn't become a paper wasteland. Also offtopic, Heli crashes I am ok with, I am not OK with five of them per spawn. They need to be staggered and once every three to six hours at most.
  10. He asked if there was a list of all the Standalone features. And there is not... Edit: Aaaand seconds too slow using babelfish.

L85 Should it stay or go

It's a question of where you want the frustration to come from. Do you want to be frustrated by zombies killing you over and over, diseases wrecking your colon, dehydration, or element exposure? Or do you want to be frustrated by the guy standing on the Elektro hospital at night with an L85 Thermal shooting everyone for hours? Edit: Also there is probably a huge bias against the L85 because it was duped for so long. I would put it back in and revisit this question a month or two after standalone comes out.

    So, I have a question...

Draxx, is that picture of the guy from High-School of the dead?
  13. For all we know, they are already planning this for standalone. After all, meat will eventually spoil whereas canned food won't. It just makes sense to have meat do more for you in the long run. Also P.S. Make cows sheep and goats really rare so if people want meat to cook on a spit, they have to shoot a rabbit. MUHAHAHAHA

    Future of DayZ

You have all been judged and found wanting. Standalone end-game will be like a mythical creature. Like Unicorns or some shit. You might catch a glimpse of it through the trees, so you turn down your graphics so you can see through them. Then, as you approach silently to this mighty Unicorn, something horrible happens to you, like Cholera. Or you might buy a used car and then years later *BAM*, Herpes.
