Just wondering how people play Dayz (audio wise). I played with the music on for a few months but then disabled it so I can hear what's going on in the enviroment! :)

The first thing I do when I run a game for the first time is go in to options, max out the graphics and turn off music, haha.

Disabled, not because I want "the ultimate simulation experience" though, I just find it easier to hear footsteps etc with it disabled.

Yes, because the 'music' is little more than randomly played tracks that attempt to be scary, but in reality come off as annoying and never fit the situation. Walking through the woods on a sunny day next to the road? Time for some crazy weird music to tell you how scared you must be!

I think I had it on for about a day, way back when I first started.

Voted yes for basically the same reason. Having it off allows you to get a better sense of your environment. The music sounds can be deceiving sometimes.

since you didnt have a option for me i didnt vote..

i play with music turned way down but not off..

i like the ambient sounds the audio track plays sometimes it works out perfectly and scares the shit outa me.. hahah

one time i was a fresh spawn with nothing looking for basics around a unentrable house with zombiels shambling all around me whilst i proned.

the chainlink fence sound happened just then in the audio track practicaly made me go to clean my shorts out.. fuk me i was freaked out till i realized there was no one there.. hahahah

I prefer to hear if another player's following/shooting etc. I don't see a point with the music, Especially with a game like this where you need to use all your senses. Music kills one of them..

Disabled. The music is to add some atmosphere to the game, to make it more "scary". But zombies aren't scary anylonger.. nor are players, the former being annoying and the latter being dangerous. Because of the Deathmatch mentality to most players I encounter, I need to hear what's going on.

yeah I turn it off/down, so I can be full alert, but the "other" Z game does this cheesy-lame zombie music so characteristic of type B zombie horror movies I liked that

Disabled, because the sound of footsteps from an unknown source is much more frightening than ambient sounds can ever hope to be.

As i am running into a town the Terminator theme plays in my head so i have no need for in game. In Namalsk it is the Rocky theme.

I cant believe no one has mentioned the most important and annoying thing! This is serious business.

LISTEN UP DayZ devs and Bohemia peeps I DEMAND that those little click sounds when you put stuff in and out of your inventory are NOT tied to the music setting. I want those damn clicks, but i dont want the music. Sometimes I play with music just for those click sounds! Ahhh those clicks.....

i think we can all agree this is far more important than dogs.

I leave it on most of the time. It added to the paranoia when I first started playing, and I've gotten used to it. I will occasionally turn it off so that I can hear movement better, though.

On chernarus, off.

On namalsk, I leave it on low because it really makes the game more fun and tense IMO.
