Vilayer 50% off all Dayz Servers
spex replied to Viles (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If by "ViLayer will always stay as ViLayer" you mean a top notch hosting company that has done more for community than any other host, you'd be correct. I understand that no company can please 100% of people but there's a reason they have a customer base of their current size. They offer better servers, most features and better support than any other DayZ host...period. There is no arguing with the amount of different things Lee has made available to the community. He is constantly working on new features for both the game and for server side managing. An example would be the new DayZ Server Manager tool. You get full control over objects on your server. They let you set the amount of vehicles, run cleanup on vehicles with different damage levels, cleanup vehicles hackers teleport out of bounds, pick the amount of damage vehicles spawn with, choose the amount of days things like barbwire and tank traps stay on the map and much more. What other managed host offers something like this? On top of that you'll be hard pressed to find another host that offers the server performance that they offer. Their boxes don't get over sold. As a matter of fact, each box runs dual e5-2690 CPUs and they only put 9 servers per box. If they really wanted to squeeze every dollar out they could run more than 9 servers per box. But to ensure customers and players have the best experience they don't. This is without mentioning the new performance DLL and other tweaks that have been made to improve game performance. Bottom line is ViLayer is a top notch. I've been with them for 3 months, own 4 servers, 1 Teamspeak and web hosting. I've had almost no issues over that amount of time and have nothing but good things to say. The few issues I've had have been fixed very quickly. I've dealt with a lot of hosts over the years and Vilayer is hands down the best I've found. People can choose to pay less for more with ViLayer or pay more for less with all the other hosts. -
Your server and custom loot tables
DrunkPunk replied to jdz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I dunno, the server I play on not only has increased loot/downed choppers/tons of vehicles, but also has some extra buildings and a new town west of kamenka. ultimately, it makes it way more fun. you can happen across cars pretty easily, but they are easy come/easy go. more loot means that the people who have spent more time on the server don't end up dominating those who just joined (since most stock servers tend to have all 4 of hte high value loot areas stripped every time, and guarded by morons with as50s). so yeah, it may be DM with zombies, but so is vanilla dayz. the only difference i really see is an even playing field. and the added cars make the experience way more dynamic. -
Just started a private server today and im wondering how to set a loadout for everytime you spawn to start with that gear ? And im also wondering how to login as a admin on the server, check the logs ( and find them ), custom weapons and vehicles IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO ANY OF THESE PLEASE REPLY

You're doing yourself a disservice by avoiding doing it at all costs. It isnt about instant gratification, it is about improper spawn mechanics being work around'able. Flinging a dozen empty cans at the hospital windows, is a good reason to clean out the grocery store to me. So give the store once more over, you've earned it for staying there that long. Oh no, it absolutely is more risky. The longer you let 'your' (each player has a proximity of zombies that spawn for them) zombies stay up, the more risk you run no matter where you are. Running through the woods to another spot, with no tail, is a very safe method of obtainable items. In and out looting is by far the survival handbooks goto method. No loot is guaranteed, I should note. Some items have a fraction of a percentage chance of spawning. This is a solo thing, running in groups you will positively need to "hold" down locations for mass scavenging, healing, regrouping, ect. before moving onto other towns. That is the awesome part, how often groups raid towns for supplies, and how quick and savage they do it. There is no 'Aww tin cans' attitude when your buddies left knee split open and another buddy hasnt had a drink in 2 days. Running building to building doesnt really do much for you after you've check all the buildings in a town, which can take an experienced player maybe 10 minutes to do. Which means you take the 20 minute to 3 hour run to another place.. Or you bunker down until you get mildly acceptable supplies. Staying put positively is more risky then trekking through wooded areas, stumbling into free vehicles. ;) I totally understand your perspective and that is respectable. For almost everybody else, playing long enough to have run into at least one heli crash site, there is no more sparkle in rolling around in shrubs to perserve your AKM and can of mountain dew. People who get attached to their items, will most likely rage quit the quickest. This game is not forgiving and has no algorithm that makes sure you dont get screwed. Ive run to places, hungry and thirsty, to see nothing I could eat or drink. Dying out of some stubborn principal just isnt having fun. Kicking a few tin cans around to see if there is something buried underneath, isnt something you need to avoid nor exploit. Pulling something from the rubbish is at least equally as rewarding as picking up someone elses left overs. It is a game mechanic, no matter how you slice it. Your argument has stated you find loot cycling to ruin immersion and other player's fun, in the survivor game as your corner has called it. That means you accept that ALL abused game mechanics must then fall under the same leering disgust that you've thrown at loot cycling. That is your crutch. Respawning with a broken bone while rolling in the hospital boxes full of morphine, is optional game mechanic that youve taken advantage of. It doesnt AUTOMATICALLY do it for you, it is a game mechanic you must initiate in order to bypass "wasted time". The game is designed so that loot removed completely from a building allows for more to spawn, this is a game mechanic. This doesnt happen automatically, you must initiate it in order to bypass "wasted time". Simple stuff here.

SWC-Dayz Private Hive 3PNo Nameplates Full Moon Nights Custom Heli Spawn
tsmhicks posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I am not the owner of this server nor apart of this community, I am just a player. I just started playing on it last night and I'd have to say this is probably the most exciting DayZ Private Hive I have played. The server configuration makes it to where it was 1.4/1.5 . AS50 and L85 are gone and the overall playstyle is like 1.4/1.5 alot of teamwork in this server and Many clans (just going off tags). Def a refresh after I stopped playing this for 2 months. Im back and playing on this server for sure! I am just posting his server stuff from Reddit to here. SWC-DayZ Server - Private Hive Server: DayZ Bliss SWC-DayZ (v1.7.2.6/build 97771) [Veteran|3DP:ON|CH:ON][GMT-11] - http://www.SWCombine.com Website: http://www.silverfalls.org/dayz/ We are a group of players from another game that have all become addicted to DayZ. Up until recently we were hosting US 2881, a public hive server. Due to all the hackers and inability for us to do much of anything about them, we have decided to go private hive. We would like to build a community of players around our server that want to have fun and play DayZ. You won't be banned for killing admins or stealing our vehicles though we may hunt you down like the bandit you are.! Features: Running a Bliss 50-slot private hive server on a VPS - meaning there aren't other DayZ servers on the same machine. Running 24/7 Veteran Difficulty 3rd: On - Tracers: Off - NP: Off - CH: On - DM: On Currently 130 vehicles including 2 helicopters (this may change) Custom Heli Loot (removed L85 and AS50, put in new weapons) Always Full Moon at night Custom buildings for groups / clans Vehicles / Tents properly saving Side Chat enabled (though we don't want people using it for voice chat) Updates / restarts happen pretty fast and you get prior notice Server in US Database backups every 30 minutes Whitelist, application process and password used to minimize hackers Our own private Mumble voice chat server Rules: Things not allowed No hacking No duping intentionally No ghosting - pretty much this shouldn't be possible on our private hive, but just in case someone finds a way to do it.. don't. No hoarding of vehicles - if you're two people, you don't need 5 vehicles. If your group has 1 helicopter, leave the others alone. This does not mean you can't steal vehicles from others, it just means don't create a parking lot of unused vehicles. No Alt + F4'ing to escape other players. Don't care if you do this to get away from zombies. Refrain from killing fresh spawns. You won't get banned if you happen to kill one, mostly what we mean here is don't camp the beaches looking for new spawns to kill. (Robbing, taking em hostage is fine). No using barbed wire or tank traps to block off popular spawn sites (fire stations, churches, etc). Exceptions to this are if you are inside the building at the time or if you are using the location as your home base. No begging admins for weapons or vehicles. If we want you to have it, we will add it as a spawn to the map where everyone can compete for it. No VOIP in side chat. We don't wanna hear your music, heavy breathing, TV, etc. No trolling or harassment over side chat. No excessive use of bad language, racist comments, basically use your common sense. We're not gonna kick your for expressing your displeasure in the fact that we just killed you, but just don't go overboard. Things we DO allow Kill on sight (KOS) is allowed though we encourage you to interact more with other players as we are trying to build a community here. Bandits are welcome, though we'd much prefer you truly play a bandit - hostage taking, robbing, etc are encouraged over just shooting on sight, though you won't get punished for KOS. Base building at major locations. If you can protect it, it's within your rights to own any spot on the map. Be prepared to really have to fight hard for the more popular spots. Role-playing is encouraged though not required. Anyone purposefully trolling or abusing someone attempting to roleplay will be dealt with harshly. Forming your own groups / clans. We'd love to have other active players on the server, whether bandit or survivor. If somehow you lose your gear / vehicles due to a hacker, the admins will work on replacing what we can. If you lose it due to zombies, bugs or glitch, we will not replace it. Sorry for this but it's impossible for us to prove you really lost the stuff this way. Interested in joining? Just visit our website and fill out the application. We'll get you processed as soon as we can, but note we like to play the game too so it may take a few hours. If you haven't got a response in 24 hours let us know. Once you are accepted you'll get a PM on our forums with the password. You'll then need to join so we can add you to the whitelist. -
When I think of post apocalyptic survival I immediately think of waterworld and mad max type of worlds. Many small colonies and scavengers or loners coming in to trade to survive or to get things they couldn't alone. I think that when people play zombie games their instinct is to build a base and fortify, at least mine is. So my idea revolves around this idea. I will be referencing Eve for probably 90% of these ideas also. It's a great and fantastic game, but playing spreadsheets in space is what kills it for me. I digress though. Essential things DayZ needs. - End Game content, some type of progression to keep you playing. - Carrot on a stick, you need something players can work towards over a longer period of time. My idea would be Bases. Building, maintaining, capturing, defending bases would be an ideal endgame. Scatter bases through the land and allow clans to fortify them, maintain fuel for generators etc. Bases can hold benifits, fuel manufacturing, electrical plants, water purifying, etc. This gives a base a reason to hold and defend, and a reason to attack them or trade. A clan that can manufacture fuel can trade with a clan that can manufacture tools or weapons using their bases perk. Scavengers or lone wolf players can come in and trade things they've looted for fuel or whatever they may need to survive. Bandits can attack an ambush people traveling between different bases to steal their goodies. Attacking bases can work like POS attacking in eve. As an example you get into the base and hack a computer or something and (like stront) the base becomes open to attack depending on how the base owners set it up, this allows defenders and attackers to mobilize their forces to attack/defend so players don't have to be logged in 24/7. - Now currently the game operates on too small of a scale to make this work. The map is too small and player caps are too small. This is where the eve model comes into play (again). Everyone is in the same universe in eve, but zones are separated into systems, so people are all in the same world, but they are always in different zones. If DayZ could link servers through a train system we could all share a "world" and different servers could be different "zones". This would potentially link all the players similar to eve. - Zombonies. I think that inside of the bases walls it is ok to be semi safe from zombies (assuming people don't leave the gates open). Walls and gates should keep people safe from zombies, it always has in zombie series. The problem is you can't hide behind them forever, you have to go look or food to eat, water to drink, batteries, ammo, weapons, vehicles, etc. Maybe your base can make food, well you still have to search for water, or travel and trade with a base that can purify water. The idea is that a base can't operate on its own, but it gives players something to work for, a long term goal, and a reason to trade, etc. This means people can't huddle in their base 24/7. It means people have to go out and trade or scavenge which opens them up to zombies and bandits. Zombies should be EVERYWHERE. - Player progression. Players should have skills that they can build up over time for crafting tools, upgrading weapons, being a better hunter, driver, mechanic, etc. allow them to choose talents that benifit their gameplay, a talent tree that branches towards group or lone wolf gameplay. - Death. You lose your skills, loot, talents when you die. Death sucks, and it always should. Basically I want an FPS Zombie version of eve. I could go on for days spouting ideas, but I figured this wall of text is good for now.

I have heard from different articles and such that Rocket is planning to make it to where you carry rounds and fill up the magazines and have that influence trading and such. Ok im going to assume that "Seconds" is modifying guns to have a magazine. I was just putting a example but you can modify some guns to have a larger mag or for some to take a mag it would just take looking it up and learning it and not being easy for people to do. Cause i dont want to see new spawns being able to find the equipment and make a shotty with alot more ammo(like 16 shells). For the third thing which is the reloading part im assumming: He can put it in the game and if you know how to do it then you can. by that i mean if you know how to control the machine and the order to put the gunpowder and such in the shells then it will let you. I've helped my fathers freinds reload spent shells and its not too hard to learn to do. Armor peirceing for vehicles to make it easier to disable them without a as-50 but with a smaller rifle. and you could also look up and try to learn how hollow points are make and make molds for them. This would go with underground bases and you possibly finding ores or just scrapping vehicles for metal. ] And in real life you could find a box of empty shotgun shells or shells on the floor and if you could reload them then they wouldn't be just junk. Im not talking about doing mass production for reloading ammo im talking about reloading about 4-6 mags worth of ammo which with a 20 round mag would be 80-120 rounds, but even with a 30 round mag I don't think it should be a stop by your base for 5 minutes and emerge with 20 mags filled with standard or modified rounds, Im talking about being there for 30 minutes to a hour reloading ammo . This would also encourage going to your base more often than for dropping off loot or getting supplies. Realistically do you use more than 6 magazines per loot run in a couple towns or a military base? :) And like you said there is a possibility of messing up your gun but that adds to the need to know the proper way and not just half assing it to where you may have double the amount of rounds in half the time then if you reloaded them properly but you would have double the amount of duds and rounds that can reduce accuracy and blowing up in your face, so it adds to more chance but reloading your ammo is just so you dont go into a gunfight with a AKM as a club. :D

As the title says, list your current gear :) I died before I went on holiday, so all I have at the moment is: A Winchester, some food and drink, m1911 with half a mag, binoculars, Alice pack, and finally the essential tools I need to survive, like matches, a hatchet and a hunting knife. I assume your loadouts will be much better than mine, assuming you haven't died recently. (If you've seen my store, then I'm not using the many items I have in tents/vehicles because I was making my way to the camp, and picked up the stuff I have now en-route)

Did I just kill a hacker or a legit player?
robjuluk replied to DanTheBadMan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
p.s vehicles and knowledge of this game make it too easy to aquire top gear in short time. in the servers i play regularily, i get all 3 heli crashes in a day and due to when i play i can gather a large selection of crash site weaponary each day and im first to arrive. they are really easy to find once you know roughly where to look and after a 30+day character has everything on toolbelt and as much ammo as you could ever need sometime u feel the need to go get some excitement and potentially let some new guy get a great reward. i carry multiple sets of nvgs on me sometimes to trade etc but also like to think if sum1 kills me they get their best day of Dayz ever! spread the fun. its the same with vehicles...USE THEM! -
We are now looking for serious players to join our hacker free private server. We are a friendly bunch, more into survival, who are looking for other serious players to join. Maps are rotated by vote and difficulty is set according to map (read: Chernarus can be set harder than a new map). 40 slots available and the idea is to have two teams (20 on 20) that battle it out. Shooting fresh spawns on the south coast, ghosting, DISCO in PvP, racism, harassment and other game ruining behaviour = immediate kick and ban from server. Competitive trash talking (within the boundaries of above) is allowed. Side channel is on, but only for contacting game admin. Server is located in Luxembourg, routed through Frankfurt, Germany and normal ping from UK, Ireland and France is around 40ms. 160 vehicles maximum on map + care package drop. Normal vanilla loot table for now. Server is rebooted once a day. Timezone is UTC with full cycles. If you feel that this is what you are looking for, contact [email protected] First come, first served.

Hello, been playing on your sever for a few days now with some friends. Great server. One thing though, it seems like all the Vehicles have disappeared. Could you check and make sure its not the work of a hacker? I mean we have waited till after server resets and gone to look, still nothing. Thanks

Your server and custom loot tables
boneboys replied to jdz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Servers that keep the base game with maybe a few added vehicles and some minor additions like random loot drops and side chat are ok and keep the difficulty as it should be. I've played on servers with 100+ Vehicles/NVG's/Map/Compass/Matches and Knives +9mm silenced at spawn,,,,, the gameplay is completely fucked up ruined. I mean really DM with Z's. So if you want to keep the DayZ experience keep it to the minimum. IMHO. -

I find a server I own a vehicle on, PM you the server name, then drive you the vehicle with spare fuel/parts if available. (I only play on good servers with little to no hackers, so vehicles and camps are pretty safe.) -
Yes and yes to the questions. Why did you log out on the Elektro fire station roof? Why were you up there to begin with? The zombies are part of the setting of DayZ. Mostly it's a sociological game, providing a sandbox environment in which people can interact. The interactions can range from simple avoidance to malicious violence to high-level cooperation. Different players have different approaches to the game, and when players meet, their play styles can complement each other or contrast with each other. Here are some of my observations: Gear influences personality. Everyone's friendly when they can't fight. If I spawn on the coast and meet another player there, I won't hesitate to introduce myself and cooperate to get started. We'll raid a few barns, look out for bandits, share food or drinks or otherwise help each other out. However, as soon as I hear, "Hey, I found a Lee Enfield" from the next building over, I know to start watching out. Because if he finds a gun in the same town where I find a tent, there'll likely be a guy with a tent and a gun leaving that town alone. If we stay friendly past the first gun, we stop being nice to strangers, and we'll shoot a guy more readily than we'll offer a bandage. After all, meeting a stranger and getting some free ammo from his corpse leaves me feeling a lot safer than meeting a stranger and then having an armed man somewhere behind me. Heck, even letting an unarmed fresh spawn past you can be dangerous, because when that guy walks into a barn and finds a CZ 550 a minute later, his first thought might be, "Where have I recently seen someone I can shoot with this?" Survival is, after all, the goal. The game recognizes and scores combat. There's a counter in the game for zombie kills, zombie headshots, murders and bandit kills. Any one of those numbers can become an in-game objective for a player. I'll spend hours chopping through waves of the undead until my name's on top when I hit the "i" key. I'll sit on a hill and shoot random strangers just because I found an M24 and want to wear that bandit head for a while. I'll sit in the woods for an hour or more with my sights on a common sniper nest, waiting to rack up another ear and some loot. These metagames give players direction, and nobody can deny that meeting goals is rewarding. The only reward I get for a two-hour tire hunt is a working GAZ, and it'll likely be gone next time I log in, due to clever hunters or hackers. My kill score persists and can define me. Cooperation is often not worth the inconvenience. There are only two good reasons that I've found for working in a team, besides camaraderie. The first is loot farming, either for weapons or for vehicle repairs. The second is battle. A single player with a good backpack can carry everything he needs for days of surviving, even without a vehicle or tent. Risking your gear always ends in tragedy, as all my taxis and party buses can attest. I'd estimate that it takes between one and three hours to get a van or bus running, and once you start driving down the coast honking at strangers or advertising your services over side chat, you've got about twenty minutes before someone lights up your ride. If you want the game to be carebear central, take some time to check out a few of the friendly-only servers. It's a rifle-stacking simulation, the challenge lies in finding more places to put tents so you can store all your FALs and NVGs and spare ghillie suits and backup car engine blocks. You get yelled at by self-important jerks because you don't cycle barracks loot in the most efficient possible way, or because you put a plebian AKM in the UAZ that's reserved for L85s or because your camping tent isn't lined up with all the other camping tents. You wind up with twenty working vehicles parked in a field that's more showroom than base of operations, and when it's all collected and all done, players stop logging in because it's boring. I'll take the DayZ Douchebag Simulator every time.

DayZ Base Building, 600+ Vehicles US023 Lingor Server

We tracked your time played and you had 8 kills in under 30 minutes, every rare item and a previous life had similar stats. Even if you found a box, killed one person and got all his gear. How do you explain the 8 kills in 30 minutes with a previous life with 5-6 kills in around the same time frame. Most of the best long-time players on the server dont have stats like that and they've been playing daily 4-5 hours a day. And to finally top it off you were on at wee hours when 14 others were on and a hacker came on and started going around blowing up vehicles to the point of shutdown. Did I mention you were NOT far from those blown up vehicles as well? Worst luck on your side but none the less, This is how we determine legitimate players. Feel free to explain yourself but honestly, I dont have time to deal with hackers and I put most of my trust in my admins so I can work on new development and features. -

I never like saying this, but throughout my months of play time in DayZ I have never met another player who can match my skills. I know it sounds like I'm a cocky bastard but it is the truth. I don't know if it's just that I am unlucky when choosing servers, or that most Australians aren't that of good players... Is it acceptable to nominate myself? Reasons being: My knowledge of the game and its aspects are 10/10. Ask me anything and I can give you a reasonable answer. I know the best loot routes. I can acquire high-end gear beyond easily on high populated servers in a matter of hours, without death. In fact, once I reached my peak [skill wise] a month or so ago, the only time I ever died was due to hackers or bugs. The game is boring for me now. There is no challenge. Blah blah blah, I hated writing that. It makes me sound so pretentious. P.S. If anyone knows a good AUS/NZ/US server that experienced players play on, could you please tell me about it? Thanks. Damn it all sounds so bad. Ergh. EDIT: Oh I can also expertly fly choppers and drive vehicles.
