Stupidest people you have encountered in DayZ

^^ Vehicles... nothing but trouble. I haven't met many incredibly stupid people, but I've made plenty of stupid mistakes myself. Last week I died like 4 times in quick succession in one night (when I normally last days on one life). Started off with me checking out Stary (alone), seeing there weren't many people on the server, and then going "I'm sure I'm alone". Started looting, and second tent in I got shot in the back. From there I got killed twice by "friendly" survivors who claimed they hailed me but I didn't stop... one of them was a guy in a church, but as it was getting dark I mistook him for a strangely spawned zombie and ran in with my hatchet and a few other zombies in tow just to get put down by an AK. Fun side note: later I heard people in side chat talking about how all voice chat was disabled on that server. Not sure if you can actually do that, but if so it adds hilarity to the situation of people who thought I was intentionally ignoring their warnings.
  2. Great server so far, lots of vehicles on the coast to get you started. The only thing I disagree with is spawning with an Alice Pack, thats the 2nd largest pack in the game....I would stick to the patrol pack but its not up to me.
  3. Off road gaming is a fresh Lingor Island server. Modified helicopter spawn locations aswell as a few additional vehicles. Fresh spawn loadouts are slightly tweaked. Currently 3 active admins monitor all activity to ensure the best gameplay possible. Clans, bandits, and friendlys are all welcome :) IP: 173.193.48.173 Port:3153 Join us :D Website is under development.

    Squads and Armoured Vehicles

I became interested in technicals lately and I think it would be a cool idea to add them in, seeing as they are in pretty much every lawless country where people have access to military equipment and vehicles. In real life there don't seem to be many improvised armoured vehicles like in 2017 though, since I guess visibility and maneuverability are considered more important and improvised armour would be either ineffective or too heavy. I'd love to see a Land Cruiser 70 with a DShK. B)

    DayZ without Zombies

[WARNING: Very long post ahead.] Wow, OP has gotten a lot of undeserved hate for his comments. The people saying, "It has to have zombies because of the Z in DayZ!" are completely missing the point OP was trying to make. He's not saying we should add new enemies/creatures to DayZ, or even remove the zombies and put in new enemies and cal it DayZ. He's talking about taking the gameplay systems that make up DayZ and adding different scenarios, different PvE enemies or threats to create new games in the Massive Survival Sandbox style that DayZ has created. What makes DayZ the experience that it is? Is it Zombies? Certainly not. Does DayZ require zombies for its systems to be fun? Not at all. Could its systems hop genres successfully? Well, why not? Let's break down what makes DayZ special. 1. Realistic survival systems: Food and water are required, warmth is required, shelter is required to an extent, medical supplies are required to treat infection, wounds, etc. It’s about creating a realistic environment (a normal day/night cycle, varied geographical locations, etc) with realistic consequences to create a game world that feels like it could be a real world with minimal suspension of disbelief. As Rocket has said in the past, the real enemy in DayZ is the player's own body. Zombies and player threats are just a bonus. 2. Massive maps for 50+ players: Create tons of locations of a huge variety within this massive map so players have a huge world to populate, explore, and play in together. 3. Open Sandbox world: The game provides a scenario (zombie apocalypse in this case, but could easily be changed to something else with a bit of creativity), a basic framework (death conditions, basic PvE enemies that are more predictable, like a force of nature, as opposed to a malicious force like players) and the tools to interact with the world (food, water, gear, weapons, ammo, tools). The game then offers minimal direction for player actions. Players are free to decide how they use the tools they are given to interact with the world that has been presented to them. Players create their own narratives, their own objectives, and are not given “quests” by the game. 4. Player-dictated interactions: When meeting another player, you can talk to them as you would talk to another human being. No menus, no flagging yourself as a private player or chat invitiations on the server, just talking. Or shooting. Or teaming-up. Or robbing. Or trading. Or sneaking past and stealing. The game provides Lots of nuanced options for players that are only limited by the player's imagination. It's the player's choice on how they interact with players, not the game's. 5. Mixed PvE and PvP: All combat actions, and all actions in general, are performed in real-time with no restrictions (For example, there are no PvP-only servers, it’s all just thrown in together). Real-time PvP and PvE threats coexist and can take place at any time simultaneously. 6. Permadeath: You don’t earn experience that carries over to your next life. You can’t keep weapons or equipment for your next incarnation (except for tents and finding/looting your dead body, but it’s not automatic and there are risks with each of those options). Everyone starts the same regardless of previous playthroughs, and it doesn’t matter how many zombies you grind (that’s a weird mental image), it won’t help you in your next life if you die in this one. Survival becomes incredibly important because death is final. The only thing that carries over into your next character is anything you, the player, actually learned. This is what I consider the core of the DayZ experience. None of these things require a zombie or "infected" threat. So why not take all the fantastic ideas behind DayZ's survival sandbox world and create new games out of them with different threats and themes? People in this thread have already mentioned how interesting it would be to fight/run from dinosaurs, intelligent robots, aliens, etc. Think about taking the DayZ experience into space, where you need to think about the added threat of depleting oxygen levels. Cool, right? Basically, create an intense player-driven open world survival sandbox mmo with real-time skill-based combat and harsh survival conditions. Then simply switch out the PvE elements/enemies to fit the new scenario. This works with zombie apocalypses, WHY NOT try it out with werewolves? Here’s an idea: You have all day to loot, kill players for their beans, find food, build shelter, fix vehicles, etc., and at night you have extremely powerful enemies tracking you, hunting you, trying to kill you. Suddenly you have to consider how and when you travel to new locations (can I make it there on foot before the sun goes down?), and getting lost on the way to your destination eats up precious daylight. The sun is going down, do you have enough bullets to ward off any predators? Has someone started living in your usual hiding place? There’s an unsuspecting player, is it worth the risk to kill him and take his bullets/food/vehicle to outrun the wolves? Does he even have the right gear? Would his death just be a waste of bullets without a big enough payoff? Would he be willing to team up and defend a position in town with you? Would he just betray you after the night assault is over? How many nights can you survive in this harsh world without succumbing to other players, hunger, thirst, illness, the wolves, etc? Perhaps the werewolves live in settlements to protect themselves during the day when they’re human, and players could try hunting them down during daylight hours to make the night assault less difficult. But is it worth it to waste time and resources killing them instead of looking for more food/water/ammo/etc to survive the night? I’d play that game. Another example: Players are humans with mechs that can transform from backpacks to full-sized giant robots. You’re on a giant Halo-sized space station that was overrun by AI combat drones. Your mech form can help you combat the drones and is a built-in weapon and vehicle, but you need to find the right parts to fix it up. And you need food, water, warmth, and oxygen on top of all that. And the PvE combat drones can shoot you from a distance, so they’re much deadlier and much less mindless than DayZ zombies. You switch between your mech and human forms for combat and stealth, respectively. And staying in your mech too long makes it succumb to the same virus or AI that turned the original robotic drones against their masters in the first place, so you have to spend time in your human form and look for mech components that can wipe the mech’s memory and reset the clock on it turning against you. Throw in other players looking for the same resources (food water, ammo, parts to augment your mech, ) and trying to avoid the same combat drones, and you have a DayZ style sandbox survival game with SciFi elements and mechs. MECHS. I’d play that game, too. Obviously, those are just rough ideas of how to apply the DayZ formula to other scenarios and genres. And they most definitely couldn’t be made in Arma II (someone please prove me wrong and make them). But they’re proof that we could at least TRY to use something other than the generic zombie apocalypse scenario! And that’s all OP was really trying to say. I love DayZ as much as all of you. I think it has started something special. I want to see that special something applied in new and interesting ways. The zombie apocalypse was fantastic for showing how this style of game could work. Now we just have to let other developers take these design elements and apply them to some scenario other than zombies. Wouldn’t that be awesome? It sounds fantastic to me. Thanks for reading. SIDE NOTE: For those of you using “realism” as a defense for why the systems of DayZ would only work with zombies, you’re really missing the point. Just remember that 1) the realism in DayZ comes from the real-time combat, the necessity for food, water, and warmth, the ease of death from one or two bullets/bleeding out, the ease of simply talking out loud to other players, the freedom for players to create their own objectives instead of being confined to quests created by the game, etc. The realism DOES NOT come from the zombie threat. And 2) flesh-eating infection zombies are about as realistic as unicorns. They both exist in the realms of fiction. There is no virus that could ever turn a human being into a flesh eating zombie and there never will be, no matter how much we want it to. Zombies are the same amount of ridiculous and improbable as unicorns and werewolves and vampires. I mean, they’re not even the most realistic fictional threat. Robots and AIs that turn against us are more plausible. Aliens from outer-space are more likely. Zombies are just an implausible impossible fiction. I know, man. I want them to be real too. But they’re fiction, and all the zombie apocalypse preparations and wishful thinking won’t make them real, or even realistic. They’re perfect for videogames, though. Cheers.

    Noob here

-Hit the main cities (Cherno and Elektro) because they spawn the most loot, and get out of there as fast as you can once you get a good amount of supplies. Those cities are the main pvp hub in the game. -Don't bother going for vehicle parts until you have a decent hold of the game, vehicles are the number one way of getting yourself killed. They are loud, make you defenseless, and force you to go on roads. - Hang in groups, people love to quickly pop one in your head and get away with your gear. Hanging in groups makes it much more intimidating, and may make them just avoid you entirely -Avoid conflict with people: I bet half the people here will tell you trust no one. But there are many good people out there, only fire upon people that seem to threaten you. The best experiences of this game is coming out of a random encounter with a new friend. 8. So i normally don't even bother because most people aren't flagrant with their hacking/cheating... This guy and his buddy not so much... I go to check on my server and am away from home. Friend is logged on and informs me the two heli's we were near were gone... he'd already ran across one burning and then hit the airfield where lots of vehicles had been teleported... I log in and there's a guy right near where our heli's were and he's going through some tents, I empty an entire dmr mag into him and he just looks at me at which point I abort and ban him from the admin panel... got to check logs and sure enough he spawned sooo much crap I can't even explain it... here are some snippets of him and his buddy... 24.12.2012 12:52:18: CornThatLefty (71.22.147.206:2304) e1051533306044efd018d25d3ec2cf59 - 9. oh, so it was never your intention to hack, but you hacked on purpose? oh i get it now wait, so you just spawned vehicles, and not weapons? well why didn't you say so! you hacked to spawn vehicles? it's all good, as long as you're not hacking to spawn weapons hacking is fine
  10. Please leave me alone, that was never my intention, if you have nothing helpful to say just let me be. I didn't spawn weapons I only spawned vehicles. I just want to know how to alter my CD key, I'm having trouble.

    I'm Disappointed...

No, I don't want vehicles and all that removed. Basically, all I want now is a server that runs straight vanilla. No EXTRA vehicles, maybe less, no custom starting gear, and first-person only is great. That's really all I want. Now, outside of that, I like to play the game a certain way because I have fun like that. As an example, my friend and I met up along the east coast of Chernarus and we took up arms with an enfield and double-barrel. We needed food, and we needed blood. She was passing out, so I had to rush and find a survival knife and an animal, and not be seen because I would be hit and possibly die. Then after that, we still had something to do. We needed some ammo. We needed more food, more water, better gear. And it drove us. That was fun because I was constantly engaged, and it didn't feel like losing. It felt like surviving. Making with what I had and trying to sustain myself. It was great. If I could, I would totally revamp DayZ, but that isn't the point. Still, I enjoy the servers that run like Public hives but are private hives and ect, so that really doesn't matter what I would change about it. That's my vision of this game. What I do. Touch and go, done with one challenge but created 3 more. Always running.
  12. Right now, all I see when I check my server browser is: "200+ vehicles" "max vehicles" "1400+ vehicles" "500 vehicles, 5 helis" or "custom loadout" "special starting gear". Have we forgotten what DayZ is about? What happened to that pride of finding a vehicle that you know is unique, repairing it, and saying "Well that's what I did right there. And no one else can say that."? What happened to "It took me 15 hours to get this AS50, but it's so worth it."? Now, there are just people mucking around making the server base pretty much as if you were playing regular ArmA 2, stepped into the airfield base, got anything you wanted, and went and captured towns. But with zombies there. I'm disappointed with the server base right now. It isn't about vehicles, and it isn't about gear. It's about surviving and forging your own existence into the landscape. Gear and vehicles included. When you take that away it just isn't DayZ anymore.
  13. People say Wasteland's like Day Z, but it's not at all. It's just a large amount of players on three different teams that find vehicles and fight or do random-location missions.

    I'm Disappointed...

Players "want" it because they haven't got used to the idea that it becomes boring when they give you all the gear. They are too used to dying. Once they mill around for a few hours, they'll go back. But when they do, they don't have any servers to go to. Also, there are a lot of people who, like me, can't find a private hive that doesn't do this but doesn't want to join a public hive unless they have to. Playing on maps other than Chernarus, servers are pretty much all private hives. Yes, the community wants it, but we need more servers that aren't like this because there is a section of the community who actually wants to play the game, seen? Right now, that's pretty impossible. The majority of the servers in question are all US servers too, and while most of the servers are probably in US, I can usually find DE and UK servers that actually run vanilla or have third person turned off. But there's a problem, because I can't expect a good connection from them. I'm saying that the quality of this has gone down. Back in the old DayZ, you started with a bandage, painkillers, and a coyote backpack. Now people get enfields on startup. It's sickening to me how people can just take rewards and not care a bit about not getting them. So instead of insulting me like a child, why don't you listen to what I have to say and understand that: -I do not care if these servers exist, but right now they are waaaay too big in majority -I do not care if people play like this, as long as I can play my way too, but I can't, because no or few good servers. Sure, I don't agree with it, but I can't force it upon them. -We need more servers that appeals to the other side of the community. Seriously, it could be like 13 or less servers out of near 2,500 Chernarus servers, and it'd cover it. But practically all those are all about massive amounts of vehicles and starting gear. How is this too much to ask? All I want to do is play, and play my way, and my way of playing is reasonable. I'm not entitled to servers sprouting up at my word of complaint, but I think I got quite a few beans from this so you can see atleast 1 server full wants this to happen. Again, once more restated, I do believe these servers are wrong, but that's my belief. It doesn't matter. What does matter is I need a server to play on. I don't care how many of these custom loadout and vehicle servers there are so long as I have a server I like to play on too. And right now I don't. Unless you go public. But then I get hacked, ghosted, lootfarmed.... ect. Also, using logic here: If just about every server has these things, and just about every player playing DayZ plays DayZ, every player has to join a server. Since there are lack of any servers that don't offer normality, they join the other ones, because they have no choice. Again, public hives, but public hives are just stressful.
  15. Thanks for the help. The first car I had ever found on a server was blown up by a hacker spamming satchel charges. It turned me to the dark side, I started to spawn vehicles. I spawned quite a few, gave people nice helicopter rides, but eventually I got the big ole global ban. I just want to play the game.
  16. No, no, no this is a terrible idea. Since I don't care to fully explain how bad of an idea this is, let me list four problems: 1) Internet Ping - best man with internet wins 'fastest reflex' competition 2) Assigned Keys - people with superior typing skills will beat the 'chicken pecker' typer 3) DayZ is based on tactics and skill, not button mashing. If you want to play a button mashing game, go play Mortal Combat. 4) Waste of resources - why for god's sake would this be implemented? How often do you stand toe-to-toe with a enemy, I'd much rather have the DayZ team work on something useful and something you would actually come across more than once (if you're lucky) in your entire dayz career!!! Like them making a system where you can modify your guns and bullets more effectively, more vehicles, etc. not some stupid godforsaken button mashing minigame!

    Squads and Armoured Vehicles

2017 has armoured vehicles like that, sheets of steel where the windscreen used to be with a small hole for the driver to look through, pretty awesome!
  18. Regicide

    Broken roll and looting

Best get a new mouse ASAP. Without scroll I don't believe you can give transfusions, repair vehicles, start campfires, and tons of other stuff. Actions in Arma 2 and DayZ revolve around mouse scroll.

    .::Looking for friends::.

You welcome to check us out on our private hive mate. It runs Taviana, which has more military spawns and better towns across a bigger map plus more vehicles. Details on our website
  20. We have two DayZ instances online right now, one in EU (Amsterdam) and one in US (Chicago). Both with the latest hardware and 1 gbps connections. Both servers share the same hive, vehicles and loot locations are per server just like the public hive. Server is expert, which means no 3DP or kill messages. Side channel is enabled though. We run realistic time, so servers have the exact same time in game as the city they are in (GMT -6 & GMT +1). To whitelist, enter your guid and nickname here: http://whitelist.mgftw.com. You will then be auto whitelisted (Whitelist is reloaded every 15 minutes). US server IP: dayz-us.mgftw.com port 2302 (204.188.252.147). EU Server IP: dayz.mgftw.com port 2302 (213.247.35.41). Teamspeak (512 slots): teamspeak.mgftw.com Hope to see you soon!

    Your favorate map in dayZ

1.Taviana-vehicles and guns are awesome, map layout is perfect-lots of places to roam free but just enough bottlenecks forcing PvP i.e Bridge 2.Cherno-because it is and always will be home 3.Lingor- So different from other maps its refreshing. 4.Namalsk- Again very different but the small size and yet always feeling you are in the middle of nowhere is pretty cool. Not to mention feeling like someone is always watching you

    Squads and Armoured Vehicles

Jury-Rigged vehicles would be cool, like it'd take 2 Scrap Metal to cover one window with armor plating. Nice idea!
  23. Have a good Xmas. Here's some special festive (and somewhat X-rated) beans for you, Mac! PS: Lol. Usually that's a quiet spot. I've had vehicles last a week or two there. I wonder what you were doing... maybe you've got a tent nearby? I'll have to investigate! The van 'came back to me' yesterday morning still full of guns, after circulating through several players! I just dumped it by the side of the road again when I ran out of fuel. As you said, easy come, easy go (except range finders, ghillies, DMRs and choppers)!
  24. Dayzo

Completly new to DayZ. Any tips? :)

Numbers of players are very important. If you're mostly looking for PvP (player versus player), and want to gear up mostly by killing/stealing from other players, then the server should have 25-45 players. With that many players, tents usually only last a day or two before being found, and vehicles change hands very rapidly. So really the game is about rampaging around on the map shooting whoever you see for whatever they've got. Over 45 players, and it tends to just become death-matching. For me, the game loses a lot of tension if I know that players are very likely to in my vicinity wherever I am on the map. If you want a slower game - a chance to scavenge, build a couple of little bases, repair a couple of vehicles and manage to keep them for a week or more - then try to choose a server with a constant 10-25 players. This will still give you a fair chance of encounters in 'hotspots' like the cities and airfields and some rarer encounters in the forests, whilst allowing you space to roam around collecting loot and looking for heli-crashes. I love not knowing when or where I'll meet another player, and get a real shot of adrenaline when I suddenly see someone completely unexpectedly. Personally I prefer this style of play, and have had some great times on Wireworld EU recently, especially since almost everyone is on the Wireworld Teamspeak so you get to know all the players you are fighting against. It'll probably be a bit dead the next few days for obvious reasons, but will hopefully pick up again after Xmas. If a server has consistently under 10 players, once you've done enough scavenging and vehicle repairs, the game gets a bit boring. NB: Wireworld runs the very latest community beta patch. Follow the instructions in the above link - basically join the lobby and get kicked (this is so your player name and id is logged in the database), then email the address in the 'kick message' with your GUID, and finally download the latest beta (3 PBO files) from the link you're given. The details of the TS server are in the lobby message if you get stuck.
