  1. Update: New Rule regarding vehicle ownership... All current and future players should be aware that we are enforcing a limit on the number of vehicles any camp or individual can own. This is to make it fair on all players, especially our newcomers who are finding it increasingly difficult to find helis or offroad vehicles. The new rules are as follows: Vehicle Ownership Rules A maximum of 3 helis per safe base (or 1 per member, if less than 3 members in the base). Bases found with more than this will have the excess helis deleted and re-spawned in the wild (we don't check the contents, so the emphasis is on you to make sure you keep to your quota and avoid losing a heli full of gear). A maximum of 1 car or offroad vehicle, 1 truck (URAL etc), 1 motorcycle and 1 ATV per member, period. Having 1 Ural at one base and another Ural at a friends base will result in either vehicle being deleted and re-spawned in the wild. If you need extra storage, please use tents. Safe bases provide adequate protection from griefing, so there should be no excuses for not wanting to use tents as additional storage. ADMIN NOTICE: All admins must bring their heli back to the island before logging off. Leaving it in another players base for an extended amount of time will end badly :P Please do not bust my balls complaining about these new rules, I'm just trying to make it fair for everyone. After visiting a few bases the other day I was shocked and a little disappointed to see one base hording 5 Humvees and another base with 4 helis .. Yes, the admins all have admin helis, but we still stick to our 1 ural and 1 offroad with additional tents if needed rule. People with safe bases get their own heli spawn point, so we think that's a pretty good perk in itself. I'm open to suggestions and feedback, but like I said this is an attempt to make it fairer for everyone, so please keep that in mind ....

    DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever

    No vehicles in alpha release doesn't mean there won't be any in alpha and they are definately in beta. Some steps backwards from the mod is sometimes needed to implement things better. Though you're right that some basic stuf is nice to have for example hunting and cooking so we could enjoy the game better. We don't know yet how featureless the alpha release will be compared to the mod. I correct they have decided not to include vehicles in THE RELEASE of the alpha. Zombies and server architecture are really much bigger work than just adding vehicles and weapons but you are right that adding those won' just take couple days. If you don't like some features missing then don't get in alpha and wait for the v 1.0. Dean has said that the developement won't be short.

[ New Mechanics/Features ] Combat System. If you fire a weapon, someone fires a weapon near you, or a bullet/object impacts near you, then you go into combat. During combat, "ABORT" is disabled. If you ALT-F4/close anyway, your character is considered "combat logged" and instantly killed and leaves a body. A timer in the upper right (will be removed eventually) and a G17 gun icon near your temperature icon indicate whether you're in combat or not. Chloroform. In an experiment to see how heroes and bandits alike use it, Chloroform now rarely spawn in hospitals. You use it just like a blood bag, and it will knock the person unconscious for 3.5 minutes. You can drag them around, load them into a vehicle, or whatever else sounds fun! Vehicle flipping. You can now flip any vehicle over that has been flipped (despite it being unrealistic for cars/trucks, the whole reason this feature is really necessary is because of how buggy things can get in the first place). Just use the scroll action menu on a flipped ATV or what not and flip it back over. Vehicle inspection. Shows up during the same situations "Save Vehicle" does. Pops up an interface with any and all damaged parts (0% meaning destroyed) as well as the vehicle general health. I would advise ignoring the in-vehicle HUD for anything but gas, as this new interface is substantially more granular and helpful. No more chopper leaks because now you'll know exactly what needs fixing! Crowbars can be "tool belted" just like hatchets. They must also be placed on grass or forest (not, for example, concrete) Zombies can now hear weapons fire 15% further than in regular DayZ 1st person is now enforced while inside of any vehicle (both for the survival experience improvement and to make locating tents/camps from vehicles more difficult) If you have a "Box of Matches", you can set tents on fire. This destroys their contents and deletes them from the database so they don't return on restart. You can no longer force feed yourself. You must be at least 1/4 of the way to blinking food/drink before you can consume food/drink. The last thing to damage you when you die should now be logged server-side for review (player + ammo used) Introduced entirely custom "construction" logic, of which the new Storage Box and Nails uses (idea inspired by Stapo's construction system, although mine is entirely custom from scratch) Any entirely brand new and custom vehicle spawning mechanic was custom written for DayZ Redux. There are 504 potential spawns all over the map. Literally every labeled town has at least a few potential vehicle spawns. However, the total active vehicles on the map is still relatively similar to vanilla DayZ. The intention is just to spread vehicles out. The only exception is that there is a substantial amount of bicycles that will be available at any given time map-wide (about 25-30). Vehicles spawn based on "type" versus always being a "green skoda" or "hatchback". [ Chernarus Changes (ChernarusRedux) ] This is a modification of Chernarus to make more towns worthy of being visited and not just bypassed. This will be done by adding enterable buildings to most towns that have none or a severe lack of them. The following towns/areas have at least their initial preview/test of ChernarusRedux changes live: Kamenka (more residential, more industrial, a supermarket, and two military tents off in the field west of Kamenka) North East Airfield (one barracks, fire station, two more hangars, a single medical tent, and a few other flavor items) New factory located on the West end of the map. Custom designed by Alexander. New survivor style defensible "base" located at Klen mountain. Custom designed by Alexander. Deer stands don't spawn loot, but there are two fortifications that spawn hospital gear and two fortifications that spawn military gear. Their spawn is geared down substantially, though, to account for the fact that we made the base zombie-free. The C130 spawns Barracks loot but has plenty of zombies around it. [ Backpack Changes ] You no longer spawn with a backpack of any kind. Backpack spawns rates adjusted to be in line with smaller backpacks being more common and larger ones being more rare. Residential spawn backpacks are now: Czech Vest Pouch (6), Patrol Pack (8), Assault Pack (12) Military spawn backpacks are now: Czech Backpack (16), ALICE pack (20), Coyote backpack (24) [ General Loot Changes ] Loot piles across the board are slightly more rare, with some areas having trash/general piles have a higher chance of spawning. Generally, good stuff is more rare. The loot spawning mechanics have been adjusted slightly to hopefully spawn a bit more intuitively and require less attempting to "game the system" just to get loot. You are rewarded for NOT loot cycling/loot piling buildings by making chances for new loot piles more likely next cycle if you leave loot piles alone that you don't want. Loot (and zombies) spawn even if you're in a vehicle, negating the "park'n'walk" requirement for getting loot. Cat wire and Hedgehogs removed from game. Their consistent use of "griefing buildings" with inability to affect zombie pathing made them unattractive. Sand bags remain. Both existing ammo boxes have been removed and replaced with a 10x STANAG, 10x AK, 10x AKM ammo box The "Map" no longer spawns by its lonesome, but with other general loot around it just like all of the other tools. GPS removed from military loot (only spawns in barracks/heli crashes now) Ghillie/Cammo removed from residential loot (only spawns in military/barracks/heli crashes now) Assorted loot piles now spawn with 1 less item (3 instead of 5). Introduced new loot item called "Nails". Rare spawn in industrial areas. Introduced new persistent storage container called "Storage Box". Created using nails, a toolbox, and wood pile. Holds 4 weapon/tools and 20 items. Can be placed ANYWHERE (unlike tents) [ Helicopter Crash Changes ] Helicopter crashes no longer spawn instantaneously on server start. They are randomly spawned at random times during the "life" of the server (the time until its next automated restart). This means nobody can instantly farm them if they play during restart hours, and there is no period in time that is more advantageous than another to look for them. I won't reveal the specifics of how this works and how many helis per life cycle spawn. Loot piles per-crash type vary, and smoke persistent varies per crash type. "Good Heli Crash Loot" is more rare, with military/medical supplies/ammo boxes being a bit more common. Rangefinders, GPS, M4A1 Holo, M16A4 ACOG, AK107 PSO, and M24 added to loot table. 5 new crash site designs have been added to Redux. All of them are of varying models (UH-1Y, AH-6J, BMP2, HMMWV, UH-60, Mi-8) with unique loot tables (from basic med supplies/food to medium level weaponry). Some have smoke, some don't. Have fun discovering them. [ Weapon Spawn Changes ] All weapons now spawn with 1-2 mags instead of 0-3 in vanilla. Helicopter crash weapons are an exception and always spawn with 2-3 mags. All sniper rifles removed EXCEPT for the CZ550 and the M24. The CZ550 now only spawns in Deer Stands and the M24 only with helicopter crashes. Both are very rare. Ammo for these rifles does NOT spawn organically in the game and you only get what you find with the gun itself. All silenced weapons removed EXCEPT for the M9 SD and MP5 SD. Both spawn only at helicopter crashes. Both are very rare. Ammo for these weapons does NOT spawn organically in the game and you only get what you find with the gun itself. One LMG removed (M240), the rest (Mk48 Mod 0 and M249) now only spawn at helicopter crashes. Ammo for these guns does NOT spawn organically in the game and you only get what you find with the gun itself. Some rifles just flat out removed: FN FAL AN/PVS-4 and L85A2 AWS Added one rifle: AKS 107 PSO (the closest analog I can explain it as would be like the AK version of the M16A4 ACOG) All weapons with optics moved to Barracks and/or Heli Crash loot only. For regular military spawns, you will only ever get iron sight rifles. This means the M4A1 CCO, M4A3 CCO, and AKS 74 Kobra are now barracks only loot. Lee Enfield and Winchester removed from residential loot. Farm Only. M136 replaced with RPG7V [ Zombies Changes ] Zombie density should be slightly higher and therefore cause zombies to become that much more of a nuisance more quickly. Zombies will still spawn even if you're in a vehicle. [ Vehicle Changes ] Getting in or out of a vehicle auto-saves everything about it Adjusting gear contents of a vehicle or tent auto-saves it (Prevents duping) Vehicles now save upon taking damage and take proper damage (no insta-repair on getting out/in; some situations still need fixing though) Ability to flip vehicles right side up When repairing a vehicle, the selectable parts in the action menu to repair are now limited to parts that actually have at least 1 point of damage. Pristine (100% health) parts will not show up. A toolbox is now required to repair any vehicle. As a result, toolboxes are slightly more common. The intent is just to make sure you have to go look for a toolbox. It's not intended to bottleneck things and make toolboxes the NVGs of vehicles. [ New Vehicles] MH-6J (non-combat 6-seater littlebird; flares removed since they can destroy buildings (what the heck, arma?)) HMMWV Ambulance added. The closest analog to it would be a UAZ. Vodnik MedEvac added. The closest analog is an armored Ural/V3S that's amphibious. 1 per server. Old Moto added. Identical to the existing motorcycles, just looks different. GAZ Limo. Identical to the existing GAZ, just has a snazzy black paint job. HMMWV added. [ Miscellaneous ] Switching skins now properly remembers your chosen weapon vs. switching to the first 'weapon' item you ever obtained Picking up a "weapon" form of a crowbar/axe no longer switches you to the first 'weapon' item you ever obtained Debug Menu removed entirely from game. Not even a toggle. Disabled automatic player body cleanup (will leave this to scheduled restarts to give players a chance to get their stuff) All tents use the new dark green camping tent model vs. the old original DayZ model. There is now an enforced "play area". The coordinates are X: 0 - 147; Y: 0 - 153.6. If you exceed this boundary, you will be instantly killed. If you're in a vehicle, the vehicle will be exploded as well.

  8. "New road decals have been created by Mario for the roads so it looks like they have a damaged look to them, to give the world more of a feel like “the Road”." I always thought when playing DayZ that I was put into a scenario of a Zombie Holocaust that has only recently happened, hence there is Ammo, Food , Guns to be found etc. What makes no sense to me, it may to you, and just me, is that all the Buildings and now Road Signs are being made to look is if the Outbreak happened more than Year or so ago, rusted Vehicles etc. I have trouble getting my head around that after a year or more there would be Weapons, Food, Ammo, etc found anywhere, people would get almost all of it within the first month or two one would think. Vehicles also wouldnt even start, batteries etc would be stuffed. Food , Ammo and Weapons you would probably only find if you stumbled upon someones cache in their basement or something. What's your thoughts ?? So when is the Holocaust supposed to have started when you join the Game, haven't heard Dean ever discuss this. In the scheme of things I guess it doesnt matter, but if you like me love the Zombie Genre your imagination takes over and you imerse yourself in the Game.

    In my daydreams, I envision a DayZ where the vehicles are portrayed as accurately as in flight sims... ^_^ not a feasible proposition, but still... nice to imagine.
  10. Not angry, just trying to regain control. I'm editing the server as we speak until things settle down. When it is fully implemented I hope that the server will be a unique experience for anyone who visits. For now, I going to wait until the dust settles and then move forward with our intended Blackmarket Trading Post. As to buying vehicles, the only objects out of stock are helis and aircraft. That will change in time.... Once the kamikazee attacks have stopped.
  11. Then explain the PDW-SD, the MG36, the AS50s? They had them...We were using stock weapons. [sYN]Ch*** even admitted to using the hacked in weapons. The fact that Ch*** said that he was an admin, and he was in the database removing our helicopters, and our bought Armed SUV, also changing the inventory of our safe doesn't help the case either. At the end of the day, there are other dayz servers, and I shall have my Epoch one up in less than a week hopefully if work isn't busy. Feel free to come by ours and have fun too (There will only be official vehicles/weapons plus AI units and basebuilding). I was actually asking to get a hold of you to ask about the epoch server before this happened. Please reply because I would still like to speak with you apart from the damages of yesterday/today. And do for your part, tell your clan members not to provoke other players if they don't want to play PVP. Being lied to is kind of a shitty way of dealing with things like this. [back story- When I logged in today to find everything removed. and Ch*** told me that he removed the helicopters and armed SUVs (all of them he said, btw...) and while he is saying this I'm in your base standing directly next to one...There are more, but this is getting a little flat] In the end, I hope your guys enjoy their Apocalyptic Barbie Dream House. If you feel like unbanning us...great... if not...great! :) But at least reinstate the purchasing of armored vehicles at the vendors, because if the only things you can buy are colored SUVs and clothes it kind of seams like the Barbie jargon above. EDIT: If you would like to conclude anything so we don't have a flame war over forums, talk to us on skype. It won't be angry, as we aren't.
  12. I'm the Server Owner for "The Syndicate". I am aware of the incident, and am not happy with my own clan-mates that baited "AZTEC" in using side chat. For the record: No special weapons, (Or tanks for that matter..haha) were spawned into game, both sides were using stock weapons. (I reviewed the logs to confirm this.) While we do spawn custom vehicles no game breaking weapons are allowed. It is my intention to run a clean custom server. As to banning the members of Hippo's clan. Yes, I did that in the name of server peace. It had to end. The members of my group have been chastised and warned that as long as they run with my Admin group they are to adhere to a neutral status. They abused side chat, and they have been warned. After being away from the server for a couple of days, (the real life job), I came back to find that chaos has reigned, the server has been infested with griefers, doing nothing more than blowing up the Admin base based off of this forum posting. (Confirmed by a third party.) I am attempting to rectify many problems right now. Just to be clear the Official Admins took no part in this.

    Gummy - I think the work being done is vastly underestimated. The Cheranrus map has undergone a big change for a start. Most buildings are enterable, there are new areas and new towns, with more and more content being added. The zombies have been completely redone as has the inventory system. A new skeleton has been created and all the items in game are now objects meaning crafting and attachments are now possible. Not to mention the work being done to turn DayZ SA into a MMO rather than just a large mutliplayer game. Not having vehicles on the release is a bummer to some (not me by the way) but i think the decision to make vehicles better to handle rather than simply port over the Arma 2 handling was made. Why not add new features such as radios, clothing, weapon handling, player movement? We all want to see something new and fresh. I think you would probably be the first to complain if the mod was just ported over as is.

    I'm pretty sure they could just add vehicles exactly the way they are in the mod, which is pretty shallow and enormously silly anyway. I'd much rather have an in depth vehicle repair system and modding system than what we have now. That will take time and I'd personally rather have them do it properly the first time. It seems like they've outdone everything else so far. Have any more examples of features the mod has that the standalone won't?
  16. Does anyone else think that Bohemia Interactive is managing their time poorly? Radio implementation sounds interesting, but shouldn't they be dedicating more resources to implementing features that already exist in the Mod? Shouldn't the Standalone Alpha be held to a higher standard than the Mod Alpha? Do we really need to take steps backwards? For anyone unaware, Bohemia has officially decided not to include things such as vehicles in the Alpha. If they release in June (best case scenario), then it means programming server side unit movement (zombies/players) took roughly a year. I think it's safe to assume that it could take them months to implement and debug vehicles, and additional months for any other missing features. Supposedly they do not intend to begin working on them until after the game is available for purchase on Steam. With the way things are shaping up, the standalone may have less features than the Mod until next year. I do not think that the game should be delayed or rushed; I simply think Bohemia should develop the game professionally like other independent companies do.
  17. It's Chenarus...and its very much like vanilla. We did NOT put in 28739084234 vehicles...we did NOT put in a million barracks...sorry that your upset over my new server post. Nonetheless, feel free to come check it out. Theres about 15 helis on the server and roughly 70 to 80 vehicles. Everythings been customized to make game play more enjoyable...also the loadout is very much like a vanilla one with the exception I gave a main weapon with no ammo and a secondary garbage weapon.   19. "NEW SERVER OMGZ CUSTOM BASES, 3000 VEHICLES 1000 HELIS, START WITH AS50, 10 BARRACKS ON EVERY SPAWN. WE'RE DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS!" This is not DayZ. Try making a vanilla server, veteran players will love it. I'll try it out, too.
  20. The server is now fully updated with my latest additions being a Hero Base and upgraded North East Airfield. Should make it a very busy place with 8 hangers, fire station, coms tower, 2 Industrial buildings, 2 medical tents and 4 barracks. :) I'm going to add extra loot spawning areas to the North West Airfield so that too is brought up to date. :thumbsup: Dotted all over the map are also sniper encampments and additional deer stands which are overlooking all the major new additions so with every positive there is a negative for you to look out for! So watch out! :lol: Hero base (North West of Cherno) and Bandit base (on top of Klen hill) will have vehicles spawn at every server restart (6 hour intervals), these vehicles will disappear and reappear every restart so use them wisely (Hero Base vehicles yet to be set up). These vehicles are going to be locked so only Bandit / Hero's can use their own bases vehicles. ;) New scripts are going on tomorrow which should add a more dynamic weather system. We are also looking to add animated helicopter crash sites.

We have added the following scripts to the server: Animated Heli Crashes Working Street Lights at Night Full Moon Nights Clear Roads Auto Refuel With increased animated heli crashes, barracks at ALL airfields - 75+ vehicles and 4+ helis. Extra lootable buildings have been added around the map, already built bases to make your own! Spawn in with basic gear that includes drink, food and map! Day and night server -2 GMT. Active and friendly admins who are always happy to help as much as possible. STARY SOBOR WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!! Go look for yourselfs just take plenty of backup ;)
  23. So what if every time a server starts, there was an absolutely miniscule chance that one of *these* happens: Zombie horde. A large % of the server's total zombie spawns are within (x,y) of each other. More likely to happen in major cities/military bases Crops! % chance that farming areas have a potato plant/carrot plant/whatever plant growing in the backyard. Scroll-wheel allows you to harvest plant (food degrades, players cannot farm) Salianized/extra-bad water. Tiny %chance that swamps/rivers/ponds/whatever body of water gives you an extra deadly disease, even when "Sanitized" via boiling? (think of diseases caused by heat-resistant bacterias and viruses) Gun-Nut safe house. A certain house in one of the cities has firearms spawn in the basement/attic/in hidden places, in larger quality and quantity than normal? The mysterious shack! %chance that a bloody, boarded up shack spawns in the woods/on a mountain/somewhere, with more than 1 possible location but never more than 1 shack at a time, that has poisoned beans or un-fresh water? Unsuspecting players will trust the shack as being good loot... and then the curse of *insert creepy witch name* strikes! Total take over. Extra %of normal zombies spawn at server start (so instead of 4K, you have 4.5K) Booby-trapped vehicles and buildings. Don't make the traps too hidden or lootable if disabled. Effects shouldn't be catastrophic (a siren goes off, attracting zombies; a spring-loaded pistol round is fired; a spring-loaded smoke grenade is set off, filling the room with purple smoke; a spring-loaded flare goes off) Dev notes (trash piles rarely spawn a note with a funny message, signed by Hall and Co?) Obscure/normal references to old/pop culture (easter eggs). Maybe you find a note painted on a wall that says, "Do the truffle shuffle!" or a note taped to a tree with a likeness of Slenderman? Maybe a box with a giant, golden cross on it has a grenade in it? (Holy hand grenade). A dead rabbit sits in front of a cave, covered in blood, surrounded in dead bodies? (Another Python reference...) OR a note that says, "Zombies? INCONCEIVABLE!" (Princess Bride) Military radio transmission players after Xinterval of time saying something like, "WATCH OUT ELEKTRO WE'RE -cccczzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-" to alert players that a helicopter crashed somewhere near Elektro/other location? The Diary of Anne Zombie Frank. You can find it upstairs in one of the barns. It's a creepy story about hiding from the zombies and hoping not to be discovered... ...also there's a dead body.
