Hello all, my clan Murder City Devils have recently started a dayz origins server and we are looking for more people to join our community! It is a wide open server anyone can join, 40 man server, fresh server plenty of vehicles, plenty of area to build your houses and we will be giving a dayz standalone key away at random to someone in the top ten hrs. active list. Its was indeed lag free all night although the ping is more around 220ms to me in Sydney and strangely enough the same to my m8 in Queensland. Fine with an empty server but when its full it may be a different story. Vehicles were not repairing 50% of the time, this may be a vanilla bug and not server related but its annoying as fuck. Now if I were admin I would have taken a chopper and gone around and looted every chopper wreck on the map just as you did but keep in mind that behaviour wont entice people to come back. Overall a pleasant if not a little too quiet experience so good luck with it. -

First proplem: Incase you get connected to wrong server with our IP: - Leave the lobby of the server you connected to - Open ARMA II Server browser - Click Remote and use our IP & port - You should now see our server on the list and you should be able to connect! Why is this happening? For some odd reason GTX is renting the same ip adress to 2 servers which we cant fix. Second proplem: Are you getting an error about dayz_communityassets or something like that? Here is what you need to do: 1. Go to your Steam folder and from there navigate yourself to steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead. 2. Delete @DayZ folder 3. Now open DayZ Commander and redownload DayZ mod and if needed, Origins Mod aswell. If you have some other proplems, dont hesitate to ask / message me. -

Our server has 2k view distance so they 'can' be a problem. My only true gripe with the AS50 is that it can use M107 rounds. If both guns did 10k blood with the AS50 having the advantage against vehicles then I doubt it'd be a problem. Every weapon can kill you in one shot or near enough anyway. Oh and Dayz isn't realistic. Zombies/Infinite run/Hulk strength

I recently started playing again and it is indeed true that the public hive needs a bit of love. If you can find a nice private server without all the BS (500+ vehicles etc) it is still great fun. It is only as fun as what you make of it though, as always.

Hello everyone, Just thought I'd start a discussion out of insight and boredom. I was recently playing DayZ and some other DayZ related mods, and it's come to my attention that DayZ is set in an odd time. It lacks many modern cars and features many older types, yet some features suggest otherwise. I sort of concluded it being somewhere in the late 1990s or early 2000s, because there are some vehicles (for example the Volkswagen Golf MK IV, which is the earliest model that resembles the in game golf) that have only been around in years prior to the 1990s. However it would be flawed to assume the mod as being based then; as there are some features of the map that suggest either Chernarus being a small settlement country (having slow development) or being set quite early in the modern age. I was thinking about vehicles and how little variety there is, and I was pondering weather (either in future mod releases or the standalone), more modern cars will be added. If I were to walk outside right now and observe the cars coming past on the street, I would likely see a lot more variety than single-colour, single-model cars as seen in the mod. In this new age there are many, many types, colours and builds of vehicle that are available to the public, and I just feel that they deserve their own place in game. My questions for you are: -When do you think DayZ is set and why? -Would you prefer to see a more modern setting in DayZ (larger buildings, more modern vehicles, more variety)? -Would you prefer DayZ be based in the present or the past, and why. -If DayZ were to include more vehicles, which types would you like to see? Bring the discussion!

I meant the thousands of cars just as an example which would only apply to NYC. Of course Chernarus is poorer and there would be way less cars but what I intended to say was that there should be more damaged but repairable vehicles... (which is sort of redundant because it has already been said)

Public hive vehicle spawns

Nothing on public hive, it's automatic. This option will only works on private hive. Since our migration to the new public hive and razor's fix for the vehicles, the cleanup is working again. And the AN2 is poping ;) -
Still, something anti-vehicular is pretty much needed. Especially against helicopters with mounted weapons. I'm all for 50 cals if they have enough disadvantaged to be used as anti-material and 'situational' weapons rather than the be-all, end-all of all firearms in the game. The massively increased 'blood damage' number is, if I remember correctly, because vehicles use the same 'blood damage' formula. It needs to be excessively high because vehicles have a retarded amount of 'blood' to get through before they're done.

Wait. Wait. Okay, that's surprising after your other thread... anyways just one comment: The AS50 did waaay too much damage for a .50 caliber rifle, the M107 did the correct amount. The HS50 has a slightly longer barrel so it would have probably have a 60-80 fps gain. Taking a 750-gr A-MAX at 2,900 ft/s and rounding up, that turns into a maximum of just under 44,000 blood damage. .50 caliber rifles would have a hard time destroying vehicles in one or two shots. That's what machine guns are for... still, the gun has twice the penetration of other calibers so it would go straight through a helicopter cockpit or pop a wheel.

I want that weapon in the game, as well as a 'super high end' sniper rifle like the Steyr HS .50. Bolt-action, single shot, 50 cal goodness. Give it 200,000 damage on a bad day so that it can take out vehicles and helicopters (the AS50 does 174,000). The single shot, bolt action nature of the weapon would completely preclude it from being used against 'normal' targets except by people who really know their shit. It would take AGES to put in a new round and line up your target again. But for the really decent sniper, it could allow them a guaranteed OHK against stationary targets out to the max view distance. And it satisfies the 'anti vehicle' role while not being a 'super weapon' in that it would be better against infantry than any other sniper rifle.

What, so because the majority of players [a lot of casual players if I may say] don't want something/want something, it's not going to be implemented/will be implemented? Rocket wanted this game to be hard. That's what he says the Standalone will be. It should be as harsh as possible, and should not entirely cater to the "casual" players that want to spawn with gear, have a billion vehicles, etc. The hardcore players are what made this game so good [player-wise, of course].

Fine but I bet people who only know this DayZ (4854^45 vehicles "custom load outs"=m1911 at start, "custom buildings"= 56 barracks at Kamenka etc.) and not the vanilla will be the first to whine about it being hard when SA comes. I bet you my pants.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. You should play differently. This is not a matter of different taste or different playstyles, this is a matter of the weapon that facilitated long-range engagement beyond 600 metres being removed from the game completely. It's like saying 'oh look, all the melee weapons have been removed' and you sitting there going 'well I'm still going to run at people and melee them ANYWAY' and me saying '... are you fucking stupid?' With no .50 cals, you are either going to have to A) change your gamestyle, or B) waste your ammunition hitting targets 4 times in the chest and watching them retreat to cover because you're deliberately engaging targets outside of the optimal range of the weapon. Yes, you can play any goddamn way you please. You can run around with a makarov. You can be a badass with a crowbar. You can kill zombies. You can kill players. You can use your fucking sniper rifle as a snorkel for all I care. But without 50 cals in the game, you cannot then sit there and say 'well I don't have a one-hit wonder wand any more, these guns suck at anything above 800 metres away' and then, when someone tells you, repeatedly, that your only option is to move closer, refute that by saying 'oh but that's not sniping'. When they remove the 50 cals you will have to play the game differently. Put a teaspoon of cement in a glass of water and harden the fuck up. The days of easy sniping beyond 800 metres are numbered. At least for now. I have no problem with long-range sniper rifles. So long as they're not game-breaking. The AS50 was the definition of game breaking. Super accurate at super ranges, a super long range scope, instant OHK no matter where it hits you, negligible recoil allowing follow-up shots from a semi-automatic platform, ability to accept two different types of ammunition, destroys vehicles, doubles as a close-range semi-auto assault rifle... and even though it's 'rare' over half of all people have one and at least 90% of the user base wants one because it's so ridiculously better than every other weapon. Yeah, and people wonder why I have a problem with the AS50. The problem I have with long-range, 'wonder wands' in Arma is that there's no skill to their use. Find the range. Push some keys. Put the crosshairs on them. Click your mouse. ??? Profit! And this problem was massively, massively compounded by the AS50, because it's a semi-auto OHK. And the Chernarus map itself is pretty much an open field with some tree cover every now and again. I've seen more vegetations in the arid countryside of Australia, AFTER scrub pulling for cattle grazing. A bolt-action lupua with an effective range of 1000M or so would be pretty nice. But it would still be abused. Skill + ability + practise >>>>>>>>>> game mechanics. And right now, game mechanics count at least five times as much as personal skill, ability, or practise. I just think that if you want to kill someone at 1000 metres, then you should be fucking good at the game. Not fucking good at combing loot spots until you find a rifle that does it all for you.

My review over this server. Well, this server is very great in every way possible. You have the amazing perks of having auto refuel, night street lights, and tow/lift commands. The auto refuel and tow/lift commands come into great use with building bases. Instead of loading into one vehicle, you can load stuff into 2 or more vehicles. You also don't have to find pesky jerry cans to fuel every time. That works great for choppers. The night street lights make the new spawns have an easier time finding materials and finding other players. Some of the houses are light up too. One of my favorite things about this server is the AI. The AI are very difficult to play against, (not just because of the veteran difficulty) and they have a lot of potential fun times. Instead of hunting people down, you can hunt some of the AI groups. But, be warned if you kill the hero AI then you lose humanity. The hero AI are amazing if you are starting out with no gun. They kill every zombie on sight, but they don't attack you. On the other hand you have the bandit AI. They will shoot you on sight whether you are looking at them or not. Trust me, I was running across the Northwest Airfield when a group of them murdered me. Finally, I can talk about the base building. The base building is a great tool for Dayz. You can set up your own area that can be protected against zombies and AI. This allows you to actually set up the base you wanted to since the first time playing Dayz. All in all, you have a game that reminds some of my friends and I of a newly apocalyptic time. Where you have the crazy wackos that kill on sight because they have gone mad and you have the millitary that is trying to help everyone. I very much enjoy this server's setup of Dayz and I hope you do too. BUMP!!! (lol) -

Loot should be more rare now and takes a lot longer to become fully geared. Night is very scary, with fog all around you, you have no clue a who...or what is lurking around the other corner. Zombies will now do more damage but will not be super OP, remember players are not the only threat. Night time lights really makes you have to go around sneaky so you either dont get caught by the horde, or dont have a player see you. Base building is being added, the one made by Daiymo21 and is adding a ton of new buildings and objects to create such as I am the only one developing this mod atm and I am limited to time only on the weekends, I NEED DEVELOPERS, PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA PM OR SKYPE (Nick.chow3) Credits to the addon makers whose addons i used! Do you want the game to be about interacting with players and sneaking past zombies or having sniper duels at a thousand meters? I don't care that DayZ has geographically accurate weapons. I don't even care that they have anti-material rifles. But if you are going to have the benefits of a .50 cal rifle (range, instant death, destruction of vehicles) you need to have the weaknesses as well (heavy, bulky, can only be effectively fired from a prone position).

The server is a few weeks old. The vehicles have been found but all the spawn points are the original so they aren't hard to find. Especially since NCK seems to suck at keeping a vehicle in one piece. You shouldn't have that hard a time finding one.
