Vehicles will be modifiable so they are being reworked. I seriously think vehicles should be very very rare tho.

"6: I understand this is Alpha" So tell me again why you made this rant again? At any rate, this is an alpha where most things still need fixes and where almost nothing except what's needed in the game to test are added. You can't expect pvp and no-pvp zones since that'll just make this game less realistic. You need to face the fact that no game will ever be comparison to real life because it's impossible to code infinite possibilities. I could climb a tree, I could dig a hole, I could gather materials and make a hang glider, but you need to face it, those things will likely not be added in. It's a game. For your FPS troubles, hows about turn down your graphics because as you should know, it's a game. If you can't run this game at 30fps, don't play it or get a better pc. In any case, you should never complain about FPS to the developers because it most likely your PC with the issue, not the game. As for those debuggers you see on the bottom left, deal with it. It's an alpha, those are likely debug messages. They will probably be removed in the later patches. As for what YOU would do if you saw a random killing, what makes you think another person will search for the perpetrator and kill them? Killers do not need to be punished. Besides, there's already a bandit-hero system that may not be implemented in the standalone yet. To respond to your numeric on vehicles, remember. This is an alpha. You even acknowledged that. You need to understand that in an alpha, there will only be things that are necessary to game development, and likely nothing to appeal to the players themselves aside from bug fixes and optimization. - To rate your rant: 1/10 for the reasons: More periods than characters in your rant.No logic. You address the same 'issue' twice (pvp/KoS).Tried to relate DayZ to Mario Kart on the N64Complains that fists are useless, but given the event where his fists were taken away or replaced with something else, he'd be just as or more useless.Even though zombies is the genre of DayZ, OP believes there are more important things to be worked on first.Wants the game to be realistic but wants nopvp and pvp zones.Relates this game to real life.

1. There will never be safe zoned in DayZ. Sorry! 2. The hunger and thirst icons cycle through yellow, orange and then red to show how hungry or thirsty you are. 3. Get off the coast and in to towns that haven't been looted yet. 4. DayZ is a sandbox game. No play style should be punished. 5. Chernarus is not in Russia. It's its own country. 6. I think you may have spent too much time in the spawn with a DMR/"PvP" mod servers. 7. See above. If you don't like the current state of the standalone then I'm not sure you know DayZ's roots. :S 8. This is an alpha build. Vehicles are being completely reworked and will not be added for some time.

Realism and Weapons [Balanced or Realistic?]
-Gews- replied to ProGamerGov's topic in General Discussion
Realism for weapons, vehicles, items and combat, I am especially touchy about If no effort has been made to make a weapon true-to-life I have little interest in using it. Nice models serve no purpose if the gun you're holding is just a generic, balanced, coordinate-firing "blank". Hell, in that case it doesn't even matter what skin the gun has since it's just cosmetic and has no bearing on statistics. I don't care about realism when it comes to things like pooping or long-term medical recovery -
That was really stupid...the game has updated 2-3 times so far. Its gonna be a while for it to come out with vehicles seeing as they bring on a lot more bugs. Also, it is a survival game, in real life it would take a lot longer than 30 minutes to travel 12 kilometers on foot. And if there was fast travel on this game...the game would be dead before the full release...it would kill the immersion ten-fold.
-
I feel like KoS will decrease as there are more features implemented into the game as of now it literally takes 10-20 minutes to get enough supplies to survive and a gun with enough ammo to kill a few players. As new things like buildables and vehicles and new guns are put in, people will spend more time gathering that crap before they get bored and start hunting players... also there is no incentive to go north as there simply aren't enough items in the game yet. there is no point to go to the NWAF since the same loot spawns in balota or the military base west of it.

THE DAYZ WISH LIST (From the Community to the Devs)
tgmoore replied to Aussie Bogan's topic in General Discussion
For Christmas 2014 I wish for fully integrated seamless Vehicle game play. That means shooting from vehicles with personal weapons for all passengers but most importantly being able to hang out the window with a baseball bat for drive by attacks. -
Player Logging is REALLY killing gameplay
crypticsilence replied to crypticsilence's topic in New Player Discussion
No that's more than understandable. I did not know that Rocket had said this. Thank you for the input! :D The point of game forums is to talk about the game... I am simply stating where I would like to see this game go. If you read the end bit, I said that I understand that this is Alpha, but that this is my main issue and would like this to be higher priority than fixing somethings such as melee or movement, or even before adding vehicles. The point is to let the devs know that this is affecting game play, and if enough people feel the same way, they will be more likely to look into fixing battle logging before looking into something like adding a sniper rifle. I am simply trying to let the devs know that I love their game enough to spend time typing on their forum to help them better the game. If they didn't know about it, I would like them to. If they already know about it, I would like them to realize that it's important to fix. -
Player Logging is REALLY killing gameplay
SquirrelX (DayZ) replied to crypticsilence's topic in New Player Discussion
I voted other.... I'd like to see these threads stop until they have implemented their fixes for these issues.... until then I don't understand the point. You would like the devs to hear this? Do you honestly think they have NO idea about this issue and you're bringing it up for the first time? WHEN they implement their changes and if it's not up to par - then post about it. Until then it's pointless. Edit: You might as well be complaining about there not being any vehicles... they're working on it. Creating a post about there not being any vehicles isn't going to change their timeline any - so why should this? -
This is a question to anyone who knows the answer. Will you be able to construct buildings, bases or anything like that in the full release of the game? Barricades, sandbags, doors, boarding windows maybe?... I think it's a huge thing considering its in a version of the mod, I really hope it will make it into the standalone. If you don't have a place to go back to after going hunting or looting its a lot faster to lose interest in the game. Probably any feature in DayZ Epoch should be considered, improved upon in this game. Placing random tents in some random tree isn't going to cut it anymore, nor parking vehicles in forests. I know this would be a longshot, but this is just a question to maybe any dev or Rocket himself. Feel free to discuss, I couldn't find any other topic about this. Sorry if there is. Damn, could someone move this to General Discussion, I failed.

people has the choice to play as they want. forcing people to whatever u want is even worse, that is the main reason of why our world if fucked up with so many wars. if people want to play with 50000 vehicles fucking let them do it, if u don't want to see them just don't join those servers.
-
I dont know you people but I dont want to see 500000 vehicles, helis, stupid AI missions and trader coins in SA. If it happens, vanilla servers definitely will be empty and I will leave this game.

Would this simultaneously fix Server Hopping and Ghosting?
thefairy replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
The one character per server would actually pretty much sort the problem, except it would then be open to Admin abuse. Have seen in Dayz Mod where admins were able to figure out hiding spots for vehicles, no matter where we hid them. -
I gotta love your ignorance. First of all. You are telling me I did not succeed at killing players. That's not true. I killed a lot of players already. Did I kill you guys (yet)? Nope. Why not, because I did not play on our own server yet while you guys were there aswell. Now I am going to tell you again, just like I did in my last post. I am not someone who works together with KIO. Alright then, very well, it was 1 member responding to your questions. Congratulations, you got me on that 1. Now post a glorious tribute to Proper Name now. I would love the attention. About the combatlogging. Could you just shut up already? I know what happened. I know you do not agree with my opinion and I know I am happy with that. I would not want some incompetent fool like yourself thinking the same like me. I would have to seriously reconsider what I am doing with my life. "Oh yeah "Kio is not someone who cares for the losses of gear or vehicles, absolutely not." Yeah, that is probably cuz you use your admin power to spawn new vehicles." Bullshit. You have no idea what you are talking about. Just because he has a lot of vehicles you directly conclude it is given to him by admins. Only because 1 of the admins actually responded to your sad attempt to a moment of glory. Your personal 5 seconds of fame. I would also like you to think again about what I said about KIO reading this. To start off with, if you were able to read properly, you would notice that I never stated that KIO already read this. Second, I stated I know what KIO is like, with that in mind read again and shut your yapper. You have no idea what you are talking about. You can't read and you can't play properly. Please return to our server and I will take you out completely fair over and over again. Probably with a hatchet because you won't be competent enough to stop me anyway.

Haha, you call yourself a legend? Narcist. I thought a legend could at least succeed at killing players. Not fail and lose one man, two helicopters and one plane. "They all type in their native language(Dutch) in side chat, discussing their plans and locations.", Bullshit, it was one member of our group who couldn't speak through the mic that moment. And it wasn't 'discussing their plans', it were answers to questions asked through skype. Combatlogging? Also not. My group and I were waiting and it was late, it was around 2 in the morning. So after waiting for some time. We all aborted, by pressing escape, then abort. Not alt f4. Oh yeah "Kio is not someone who cares for the losses of gear or vehicles, absolutely not." Yeah, that is probably cuz you use your admin power to spawn new vehicles. You also said Kio had joy reading my post. Does he really enjoy reading how he and his badmin group failed at killing us? Thats strange. You are the dumbest fucking admin ever. The word we would use for you in holland is: Kankermongool. You weren't there and what you said was bullshit. So for everyone who reads this, don't play on EU148. The admins are abusing their power, Proper Name even admitted it in his latest post.
-
First of all I would like to start by telling you that I am not Kio or any of his companions he was with on the day of action. I do am someone who has had a close look at everything which happened that day and I find your story amusing. Not by the fact that it is even slightly accurate. Oh no, not at all. You guys do not seem to know who you are dealing with. Kio is not someone who cares for the losses of gear or vehicles, absolutely not. I think that, with this post, u have given him more joy than he could have possible asked for. Christmas came early. Also I would like to point out some nice facts you did not mention in your little tale of how epic you and your mates are. Let's start off with the reason why all of your gear was wiped. The, I have to admit, extremely well practised combatlogging. You said you waited for some time after you and your friend took cover. Well, cover obviously being the main menu + the alt F4 combination makes it fairly hard for them to shoot you, now doesn't it? Then again, if you died you wouldn't have been able to make this post though. Then here is my true identity: As my name on this forum says, I am Proper Name. Now who is he? Is it really Him? The legend himself? Yes. It is I. 1 of the server admins indeed. Sadly not the 1 who had the privilege to wipe your gear after you oh so courageously combatlogged. Oh some little fun facts for everyone reading this. 1. They all type in their native language(Dutch) in side chat, discussing their plans and locations. 2. Not to long before this whole show happened, a few days maybe, you and your great crew, let's call them TNC level(insider joke), got killed by just 1 man.

As small as this group may be, I'm sure there are others out there like myself that play Day Z using a controller. I use a wireless windows Xbox controller. I'm 39 years old and have done my share of gaming (since PONG) and have gained dexterity over the years using a controller. I know have played Day Z more than any other game to date and consider myself a gamer. I believe I play Day Z quite well yet because the controller support is limited (just as it was in Arma 2) I find my self wanting more for the standalone/mod so I can be even more competitive. Rocket you have stated you want to one day see Day Z on consoles (I prefer to play games on PC) . Now is the time to include full controller support. I currently have to play with my wireless keyboard next to me to do simple inputs like: Going into gear, stepping over obstacles, rolling, turing on night vision, compass, and the awesome leans around corners. I am the senior pilot of my squad and fly the chopper easily and even drive vehicles better than most my squad (They all love hitting stuff and many have blown up some vehicles.) The problem now is there are buttons that are not able to be mapped on the controller which could help make it's use more efficient. Functions I would like to see are: 1. A toggle button to drop down a list so I can scroll through choices with the D-pad and select things like, compass, night vision, GPS... ( the d pad maybe?) 2. A button to step over (A button?) 3. The ability to map to the left and right D pad buttons. 4. Perhaps the back/select button should be used to bring up the map and the shoulder buttons could be for leaning and rolling. If you use a controller please chime in. If you use a keyboard and mouse, game on! Its options like these that fall within the theme of Day Z, freedom to play the game the way I choose, given the options supplied by the game. Thoughts?

Cool. I'm glad this thread got some posts. KoS is a gameplay feature, stemming from PvP, which is also gameplay feature. The problem is some people want it both ways. You simply can't erase KoS without erasing PvP elements. As long as you can possibly kill other players - players are going to do so, just because they can. They can incentivize teamwork as much as they want - ultimately this is a zombie apocalypse simulator, and the "it's either me or you" mentality is completely fitting. As I see it, there is absolutely no way you can prevent people from KoS in a meaningful way. 2 Different Common Solutions that Aren't Really Solutions Incentivize Teamwork - I don't care if making friends with another player could give me more health, more vehicles, gear, gameplay options, etc. - as long as that same player can always potentially be the one that kills you, the trust issue becomes a bigger issue any other issue, and there's no good reason to keep your life constantly on the 'edge'. Players with good gear will always be afraid of other players, no matter what potential benefit they can be. Punish Bandits - This has been implemented in the form of breaking gear, and in the past, forced bandit costumes. Ultimately, this is only a small incentive to not kill another player. Killing other players is not only about attaining gear, it's about attaining a safe environment. For many people, it's purely about the sport of the hunting and killing. They could make it so that by killing a player, you break all of his gear, get negative reputation, etc. - it ultimately doesn't matter - another player can always be reasonably deemed to be a threat, there's nothing that can prevent KoS. If anything, the option to KoS should be embraced. It makes the game a lot more entertaining and tense. I think it's a great idea to add incentives for teamwork, but it will certainly never stop people from killing others on sight. Some players will never embrace the idea of KoS, and DayZ will never be for these players. If you give them a PvE server to fool around in, at least everyone can be satisfied. No reason to nerf the PvP aspects of the game for people that enjoy PvP, the game has reached its popularity and status through PvP alone (nobody really plays DayZ for the zombies).

Searching every house I see for a weapon that has 0.001% spawn rate sounds like OCD. Even if it's 1 or 2% I think vehicles can help here, afterall, they have their own stories, their own journeys. They could have had a driver with a pistol or M4, loose shells or rounds in the boot form hunting or surviving. Would be cool to find a car smashed up against a tree in the middle of nowhere with a cop car nearby,

Would this simultaneously fix Server Hopping and Ghosting?
mercules replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
I didn't say perfect, I said "more accurate". We don't throw a gravy boat on a table as the design for a new ship, they build a scale model and work from there. ;) I am making an assumption that your "teleport from Red Zone to Blue Zone means the closest blue zone around the Red Zone, yes? If so then most of those areas directly around most red zones are in tree lines and places with cover where I could easily camp someone who I knew was in the building I just combat logged from. Such as? Name 10. Because of what factors? I hate to tell you this but the Mod survived off private servers... and not the 1000+ vehicles, self-bloodbag, starter gear servers for a while and it worked just fine. In fact in many ways it worked better than a Hive. For one thing you if people combat logged they couldn't play on that server until they thought it was safe to come back. They couldn't farm loot by hopping. They also couldn't ghost. If you wanted to play with friends who can't play as much as you, you can have a server you all play on and one you play on alone or with one other friend. You were all in the same area and you didn't have to do the, "Hold on, I died and had to gear up again so I am in Stary right now I'll have to run over to where you logged out." bull every time that friend logged in for an evening's play. -
Does any one else feel burnt out already?
bfisher replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
It makes sense actually. With most of the population turned into zombies, there would be all those vehicles and weapons just lying around for the taking. I liked those 1000 vehicle servers. They had a more frantic "the world is going to shit and everyone is trying to grab what they can" feel, vs the isolated I Am Legend feel of Vanilla Mod. IMHO of course. I can see the OPs point. I'm actually not playing the SA that much because I don't want to get burned out on M4A1s, rotten fruit and beanie caps before all the good stuff goes in. -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
captainvette2112 replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
I guess it depends on your perspective. As I said before I dont really see gear as an End Game thing, I see it as the start of actually playing this game. Running around for 3 hours looking for gear seems just like a grind to me particularity when there are no vehicles in the game yet. I am all for risk and consequence but not needless grinding. I stop playing MMO's as a full time job when I graduated from college and actually got a real job... maybe that does make you more "hardcore" than I am. -
No Tanks Maybe an >Unarmed< BRDM-2, which is wheeled and so not invincible. Maybe, you could mount a LMG on the roof with absolutely NO cover for the gunner. Such vehicles are widely used by Police abd Military in Eastern europe.

Does any one else feel burnt out already?
Hershel Green replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
Ur right. Those where the best dayz of Dayz....It was really funny to see overbody driving and flying around in military vehicles after a big apocalypse...fully geared with modern weapons and ghillie suits. I think that would be a very realistic simulation of what would happen....after a apocalypse....in a remote place on te planet...with lots of poor ppl...having state of the art weapons.... :P -
Anyone played Dayz2017 1.1? It had a Tank without a gun. It really added fear to the server because you could hear the tank from like 2km away. We had some great moments when we were chased by a tank once. But i think it changes the play mechanics of dayz to much. Dayz shouldn't be about running away from tanks, maybe armored vehicles (http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2012/11/ArmA2OA-2012-11-12-08-49-51-02.jpg) but tanks would be to much.
