    Vehicles needed asap?

I'd much rather them focus on the core of the game before worrying about vehicles which will be an epidemic by themselves. I want to see bugs ironed out, zombies fixed and multiplied, more weapons/supplies/gear added, cooking/hunting/gathering added and perfected. Not to mention balancing loot spawn, such as military grade weapons. I also want to see a lot more weapons added with many different ammo types around. (9mm, .40 cal, .44 mag, .22LR, .38, .270, etc). Vehicles will be added eventually. As it stands, it's not that difficult to run north and hit the NWAF. Besides, I freaking love it. The nervousness of running through fields and forests to your location, never sure of who you might encounter or who's watching... They are rested after the holidays, and well funded after the success of the SA sales. They are primed and ready to rock. Let's allow them to focus on improving the core of the game before worrying about end-game stuff like vehicles and tents.

    Vehicles needed asap?

No. They aren't needed at this time. Much more important things to worry about and implement before vehicles. Actually, I would be happy if they didn't have any vehicles at all. They aren't needed. Wanted by most yes, but not needed. They remove any type of suspense/tension that comes from moving around the map. Why be careful when you can zip through towns and over terrain and be out of range after 1 shot is fired at you at most. Infected sure can't keep up so they're no longer a problem. Didn't like the ideas of vehicles in the mod and sure don't like them now.

    Vehicles needed asap?

in Vanilla dayz the best hiding places were not known by many, these days most people know where a vehicle is likely to be, as long as you make them respawn if they are out of the map bounds all should be gravy, also in a real end of the world type scenario vehicles would be common as hell but the fuel would be the hard thing to find, lets hope they take after this XD

    Vehicles needed asap?

Yeah vehicles are not even close to the top of the list of things needed to be worked on or tested. In vanilla dayz vehicles were super rare anyway so even if they added them most of you are not going to find one unless you do some serious server hopping which is pretty lame anyway.
  5. DayZ wasn't about PvP in the first place, its about surviving and PvP is a part of surviving/it interferees with it. In the first days of the mod for example player helped each other and scavenged for stuff, but with more publicity through youtubers, who gave new players the wrong intention about the game, also more and more "Gamer" from other genres walked over. And since they weren't that good at looking for loot to survive for themselves they just did what they were good at, they started shooting, KoS'ing. And out of this, came the pure Banditing for the fever of killing. Killing became something they didn't do to survive, they did it because they had fun doing it. They got the feeling as if they have more power or force over somebody else. The power to "end a life". So they continued with it and spread it in videos like "Bambi-Killing Spree in Elektro -by xXDayZBanditMasterXxLP" (get the kiddie reference here?) And those videos even gave more new player a wrong tention about DayZ, they spread the message that only if you kill somebody else you are a good player. But all they really did, was killing DayZ, people got bored of getting killed in the spawn towns, some people stopped playing because of it, some others became one of those "Bad-People" themselves (seems stupid hah?). And as the people got smarter they tried to get around the spawn cities and just walk for their life, so the spawn cities got boring for those bandits and so the "DayZ PvP 120 Vehicles - Starter Gear - Custm Loadout" Servers got born. And as soon as some poeple have seen that they can make some profit by giving people custom starter gear at spawning and stuff, more and more of those servers came up. At peak times it was hard to find a server with no custom stuff and it still is. The soul of Vanilla DayZ-Mod got killed by its own community. Note please that by bandits I mean those stupid players who just kill for the joy of it, i know there are "good" bandits too, who don't KoS. God damned banditing isn't just about killing. Shooting someone in the back is easy as shit. But robbing somebody, or secretly following them and locking them down to rob them takes much more patience. The DayZ SA gives us the opportunity to lock people down, by handcuffing them atm. but there sure will be much, much more possibilitys in the future. It adds a variety, the variety of banditing. In the end i just can say that people who KoS on purpose are pussies. Shooting somebody in the back doesn't take as much courage as talking and approaching somebody. Even if you can kill somebody easily, just don't do it. As long as the other person isn't an enemy for you, you have no cause to be an enemy for him. KoS-ing is just shy. "To test the character of a man, give him the power over something or somebody else and see what they do." PvP became a threat, rather than an "feature". The only one who can balance the PvP factor of this game is the community itself. They changed the PvP factor before and they can do it one more time back at a good state. But at the moment the community is just killing off their own game. I think, DayZ is about surviving and PvP is a part of it, however it should be more like "you have to defend yourself"-PvP rather than "i just want to kill those people, lol"-PvP as it is for the most people now.

    Vehicles needed asap?

With the running speed right now, who needs vehicles? I can sprint from Kamenka to NWAF in 15 minutes.
  7. Antediluvian

    Vehicles needed asap?

I dont think vehicles will be added soon, cause you don't see any wheels or engine parts anywhere. While features that'll be included in the near future, like cooking, already have many relevant items among the loot pools (gas canisters etc)

    Vehicles needed asap?

The standalone is using the ToH engine including base code from arma 3, it also uses parts of the Real Virtuality engine, Again I say we know that vehicles work on the ENGINE as if you have played any arma3 or ToH you have seen them in action. now this is the point I am trying to make, I would like to test them sooner rather than later, as I feel that they are a huge part of the game and should be tested asap.

    Vehicles needed asap?

Adding in Vehicles Would require massive work to create the physics for, As Currently there are no Physics, and they are required to be made specifically for Dayz I'm Hoping the focus after Work Continues on the game would be to fix the bugs and problems caused in it, Don't expect many things to be added Quickly, Treat it like KSP , Or Zomboid And expect the game to change with better features in a few months

    GermanEpochCommunity

Hey guys, we've got a new server with many cool features like tow/lift, colorfilter, missions, refuel, antihack, more guns/vehicles, custom map etc. The rules are only in german but on request I can translate it. :) Website:http://german-epoch.de.to/ Ip: 5.62.65.48:2302

    Vehicles needed asap?

We don't know that. A major issue with vehicles, even in default ArmA 2, was how they interacted with the netcode. Now that the netcode has been overhauled, we don't know that the vehicles still work.

    Vehicles needed asap?

Although this has been covered in multiple threads(search function), I will say that at the present time there are much more important things than implementing vehicles.

Fuck vehicles I want a horse.

    Vehicles needed asap?

I really want vehicles and can't wait for all the new vehicles and maybe even customization (no source, just my wants), but I do not think it is a ASAP issue when there are much more severe things like items falling through the floor and zombie ghosts.

I can't wait for vehicles! =D I totally agree! (Heli wars ftw!)

    This community....(kos complaint)

I think the KoS element is down to boredom for now. Once the main elements have been added to the game you may find communitys being built and towns being controlled...in these cases bigger groups will be needed to hold areas etc and setup supply and trade lines. Hopefully things like fuel will be scarce enough to encourage trading in order to run vehicles. Prisoners are a better commodity rather than kos, fresh meat tastes better than rotting flesh and those thunderdomes dont work without 2 fighters. Well this is the vision I have in my head anyway lol

vehicles you want in the game

Sorry but NO! Arma 3 is near future and it's tech does not suit post-soviet country like Chernarus is clearly ment to be! My opinion is to keep car park as in DayZ mod, so many russian vehicles both military and civilian ofc, with some Humvee or US army truck to spice things up. Oh and maybe a helicopter or two.

vehicles you want in the game

what i never got in zombie movies and games is why are there no cars unless your in a small country area even then cars still should be relatively common the problem is keeping them up and having fuel to use them cars are every get used to it they also should be impractical because they can be loud and you need to keep them up it always makes moving on roads even more dangerous players will have to stick to off road forcing them to have maps and military vehicles they will be there the military will be there

    A KoS thread

First off I would like to point out that KoS'ing is apart of the game. Second, its alpha, most of the content isn't there. The Dev's know that, Rocket knows that. Once we have more zombies to kill, animals to kill and cook, Vehicles to fix up, and bases to maintain there will be less KoS'ing, and when fights do break out it will be mostly groups of geared players vs groups of geared players. That is what Rocket is thinking, it does not take a genius to figure that out. That is why they are ignoring all those KoS sob threads. So if you keep posting your sob KoS threads, they are just going to keep ignoring them. Remember... Alpha.

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

    1. Your character remains on a server for 30 seconds after logging off, regardless of if you were in combat or not, and you cannot join another server during that time. 2. If you leave a server, and join another one within 15 minutes, you have a 30minute timer before you can rejoin the server you just left. 3. If you log off inside a building, and join a DIFFERENT server, you will spawn outside of the building, if you join the same server within 15 minutes, you spawn where you logged off, after 15 and you spawn outside. 4. If you log off a server you get a "hop" timer attached, if you log off with a hop timer, it gets multiplied by X, and you cannot join a server within that time frame(this is actually what Rocket hinted at doing) Quickly about the "hop" timer: Lets say when the timer gets attached, it is 30 seconds, if you see point 1, you'll note they can't join another server within 30 seconds anyway, however, you still get the hop timer added. When you log off again, the timer gets multiplied by lets say, 2 for now, so you have to wait 60 seconds to be able to join another server now, log off again, it gets multiplied, now you have to wait 2 minutes, then 4, then 8, then 16 etc. The reason I suggested multiplying by "X"(rather then just doubling), is because if the system needs tweaking, you adjust not only the starting timer, but also the multiplier. For example: 30sec, 2x : 30 seconds -> 1 minute -> 2 minutes -> 4 minutes 30sec, 4x : 30 seconds -> 2 minutes -> 8 minutes -> 32 minutes 30sec, 8x : 30 seconds -> 4 minutes -> 32 minutes -> 4 hours 16 minutes I prefer the middle ground myself, though the 8x is a more extreme example. With all of these systems, if you rejoin the server you were on, or the server you were on crashed while you were on it, it won't add any penalties. Heck, for point 1, if you log off, then within 30 seconds, you log back on to the same server(ie, game crashed or your internet dropped or whatever), you will be where you were and take control of the "dummy" again as it was when you logged back in. So if you log off a server, and someone shoots at the "dummy" of you, and causes them to be unconscious, or handcuffs them, within the 30 second timer, if you don't get back on before your character is ready to disappear, it will be killed as per the existing rules added in the patch, though if it happens and you log back on to the same server within that time, you will log in unconscious or handcuffed. That and loot respawn will do a lot to stop server hoppers, yes, there will still be the odd person doing it, as in the mod, however, this will prevent it from being an effective means of getting loot during a play session. As for "single character per server", I hate that idea, I hate private hives, I will enjoy my public hives where I can change servers(though at the moment, its really hard to see what server you were just on, it needs a proper history saying when/how long you were playing on a server), the public hive is one of the things I love about DayZ. Also to note is, once base building and vehicles are in the game, that will keep people returning to a single server, because that server is where their "base" is, but it still lets you branch out to other players who choose not to play on your server, you do however have to leave your vehicles behind... Fear not though, as much as I hate private hives, they have been confirmed by the devs, they will be coming, and there you can have your own little fantasy land without server hoppers or ghosters etc, the public hive will never go away, it's the driving force behind DayZ for me and a lot of people.

    "It's an alpha."

Go on... How is a thread from someone saying they want vehicles of any use? It's an alpha still applies in that you can't expect all the features all at once, which you describe in your post. Who cares if you want vehicles? Why make a thread about it if it's already confirmed that they're coming? Again, if you wanted to talk about specifics regarding the development of cars in the game then that makes sense. But people come up with threads talking about these things ("Takes too long to get around") like they're not going to be dealt with. "It's an alpha, be patient," is completely applicable. Your example of tents is different because I don't know if tents have been confirmed or not, or whether they just plan to go to a full on base style and ignore tents. So if someone came along and said they want tents (or any unconfirmed feature) then you're right, "It's an alpha" doesn't apply. And while you can talk about bugs on the forums, there's a place to report them and follow how they're being dealt with. Coming here and complaining about a buggy game is another "who cares?" moment that rightfully generates plenty of "ALPHER" responses. The game's buggy, excellent observation, thank you for contributing this wonderful new thread that no one has made before. No. Alpha is not for "complaining." You don't need any bit of education in game development to understand that complaining is reactionary and not constructive. That's an issue with communication. Alpha is for gathering feedback that helps drive the production of a game. You can be negative and critical in a productive way that will generate discussion beyond "It's an alpha." I completely fault the whiners who come on here who bought the game without reading and understanding what they were getting into.
