    If and when they get added

    Then you would be a dead man wouldnt you? If you want vehicles then you need a way to stop them, an RPG is not that big of a deal, no javelin/heat seeking shit, just simple RPG 7 not only fits the setting but makes sense. Anyone givin the option would take an RPG in real life for the countless scenarios it would be useless in.
  2. Look the only reason people don't care about killing other people is because there is a respawn button. IRL there is no respawn button and the amount of KOS would be much less. We need some way to encourage people to work together. Hopefully rebuilding vehicles and other things will be added that will require more people and instead of KOS they ask for help.

There is actually another military base close to the NWAF that makes the area more profitable than Balota, but I think the idea of giving the map more hotspots was the correct response to the relatively boring aspect of the mod. I never really thought the NWAF was as dangerous as other people made it out to be, there was always plenty of cover when going to the best loot spots and sniping people in those areas was never that easy. I died far more frequently in Stary and while I would often find players at the NWAF the engagements were rarely as boring as getting sniped at the tents in Stary. Once more features are added that require exploration there will be people dispersed to different areas of the map including the NWAF. I hate the canned "its Alpha" response to every thread but in this instance the game truly is bare bones without any feature besides weapons and PvP. If base building is added or at least storage like tents people will wander toward the northern area to set up camp and once vehicles are added you will see people scavenging for those and supplies off the coast as well. If they made the NWAF the only place to find military loot at this stage of development quite a few people would quickly tire of the grind of running up to that area only to be killed by someone camping, so at this stage of development at leas you only had to run to Balota. The point I am making is having multiple hotspots for loot will eventually make the game better, especially once server population increases. I do love the suggestion of having a broke down C-130 or something of value on the runway though, would definitely add to the atmosphere of the area.

    you'll see why if devs release mod support for the game. Vanilla servers will be just as empty as the 1st only are now, and there'll be only [500 vehicles, spawn with mosin+m4] servers with decent population...

  6. Getting chased by zombies and dodging bullets while fighting infection, hunger, and thirst is what DayZ is all about. You may think you have to fight it out alone, or join the dog eat dog mentality, but there are other ways. We are the Trusted Medics of the Wasteland, and we aim to rebuild rather than tear down, to help rather than to destroy. And right now, we are recruiting! In the TMW, you can choose between the following jobs, or be all three: Medic: Dish out bloodbags and slap on bandages and save Chernarus, one broken leg at a time. Bodyguard: Provide a sense of security for the medic and the patient, protect them for outside threats and be a true hero (with a bit of a bandits mentality)! Supply and Logistics: The backbone of the operation! Make sure your Medics and Bodyguards can do their job properly by gearing them up, taking care of the vehicles, and make sweet campfires for S'more making. TMW hosts three different DayZ Mod servers, as well as a playground where you can blow off steam battling it out with gruesome AI and explore some freshly added spots to the maps. We currently don't own our own DayZ SA server, but we will get one in the future. We are actively doing medic runs in the DayZ SA anyway. Other than DayZ Mod servers, we also host a Minecraft server and a Contagion server. We play many different games and we are not limited to just playing DayZ.     Please eliminate server restarts

    +1 to add a warning before restarts. say like 15,10,5 and 1 min before the restart. And add a storage item : tents etc. hopefully tents are adding before or when vehicles are added. Im thinking thats when the "containers" will be able to be saved like vehicle storage to the server. (I forget the correct word to use, same as server files from mod) on the other hand maybe an npc town that can hold items for you like an mmo. So that way you can still log onto different servers and keep your stuff considering vehicles etc stay on their own servers. just my opinions/ideas

    Weapon suggestions

    Yeah, I thought about leaving the tanks out, but then again there has to be some derelict vehicles from the Military implementing quarantine procedures to contain the infection. Where I was going with the tank was that you may have access to the vehicle and the armor, without shells for it's main armament, and I can't stress this enough the items that are of Western origin would be of a rarity of perplexed imagination. They already have FN Herstal pistol in the game and that is made by a Belgian manufacturer so why not? Not to mention the Soviets also fought the Japanese Imperial army at the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in Mongolia from May-September of 1939 and beat them, causing the Japanese to bring a non-aggression pact to the table. By the end of World War II the Soviets captured some +500,000 Japanese POW's. Now given, they probably weren't all armed with Arisaka's, however dismissing the likelihood of weapons being there could be equated to them taking other things out of the game. Like only being able to play as people who exploit caucasoid like features. For instance here is a picture of the Home guard in Norway using a MG34 in 1987. Yes it is logical to assume there would be far more Soviet and Russian weapons and equipment left over, but you can't rule out the possibility entirely that there wouldn't be some sort of unique finds as a survivor in this landscape. Visiting the vehicles once more, maybe I wasn't clear enough. When I say things like APC's, LAV's, what you said BRDM's, so on an so forth. I mean these machines would be in dire need of repair, so you would have to go out and scavenge for parts. The rarity being similar to this: 2-5 civilian vehicles, 1-2 military vehicles (not including aircraft), and 1-2 military or civilian aircraft all of them being completely out of commission. None of the vehicles would come with mounted weapons, and as Steak and Potatoes pointed out the mounting could pose challenge. If the Heavy machine-gun parts were miraculously found and assembled, you'd have to have a squad to move it. One person carries the tri-pod, the other carries the actual weapon. Seeing as though totaled it would probably weigh 80lbs (38kg) and with tripod 127lbs (58kg). These things would not occur all over the place either. That's what separates a good survival game like this apart from the other vacuous run and guns. I didn't think I requested anything too ridiculous like a Hotchkiss repeating cannon from the late 19th century or anything. Believe it or not I can see the view-point of just wanting things that would more than likely be there, to be there. However I can't help but feel restricted as a player with just this and that, the world is at your disposal, most of man-kind has faded from the Earth. But I do subscribe that there is a large needle of reasonability that should be injected into the game before it is finalized. In summary I can see your case and point, but I don't fully agree with it. As a note: Yes, I am well aware the Germans occupied Norway for a little over 5 years in World War II.

    A flamethrower seems a little impractical, and pointless.. I wouldn't hold your breath. Remote IED's on the other hand would be an interesting addition once vehicles are available. I'm sure there's something in the works with existing items like the walkie-talkie/transmitter.

    Craftable Bindle

    I don't really see the need for them? In a positive manner, We already have bags and are bound to get vehicles/tents and other forms of storage, plus most clothing has inventory slots :P Where could we use this?
  12. since we are at only about 20% of the the final content lootables WILL change if more loot is aviable, so does balance of the same and the factor that everything changes when we have vehicles and bases to maintain and take care of imho rare items makes the endgame harder to achive and items worthy also, what fun is it to run arround 1 hour and end up "having nothing more to do because of you own everything from importance" like

    Are they breaking DayZ as we know it?

    Hmm, if anyone here has played since about september 2012, thats how i want the loot tables and spawn rates to be. Finding a really rare sniper or AR should be something you'll be really happy about and not just " ah, AS50, w/e ". Trust me, if they make guns harder to get, when you finally have these guns, the firefights become alot more interesting as you have your extremely high value loot you want to protect. I remember back in the dayz, when there only was vanilla and there were no " extra guns, more barracks " servers, the game was absolutely amazing. Vehicles were hard to get, guns were hard to get, but it wasnt to the level where you had to play 10 hours a day to get military equipment. I think that was the best time of dayz, and you would get military loot guaranteed from northwest if you survived, beacause you would either kill someone or find good loot in the barracks. It was basically high risk, high reward. Maybe its just me but that was my fav time of dayz and i think the loot was perfectly balanced. Aslong as they make it so that going to places like NWAF, and coming out alive, almost guarantees you some sort of military equipment, be it an M4 or an M24 you would atleast get something.
  14. I definitely want to see this happen. I find it frustrating when i come across a rare item and it gets trashed in 2 or three hits. Ill give you a good example of one. Came across an Anti Stab Vest and i was so excited because i rarely see them. within 3 zombie attacks my damn vest had reached red. And i know allot of you guys are gonna tell me just to hop servers and that its easy to find but thats not the point. Staying on servers for long times to find rare items needs to be able to be repaired. Whether its a piece of armor or a gun itself. I just feel like there needs to be ways which im sure will be, put in to repair rewards that take a long time to find. So things like screw drivers and wrenches for guns and metal armor like combat vest and ballistic helmet. Latter probably be able to repair vehicles with them as well id assume. Hopefully those cleaning kits are used to restore weapon condition at least thats what allot of us are assuming once the degrade bug is gone. Maybe latter put in a blow torch for crafting and repairing things too. For clothing i would assume something like a rare sewing kit for gear or like needle and thread you can find to craft and repair normal clothing and hats with. Maybe tearing cloth and patching other clothing with them. Stuff like that. Being able to craft your own threads stuff like that. What do you guys think? I know its just alpha right now so everything is just going through wear and tear trial and error right now. But i would like to see things like this for armor and clothing eventually too.

    Hi my name is Jester. I wish I could create games. I have the ideas but not the knowledge to do so. But we are here to talk about DayZ. For my ideas for Dayz is to start fresh, And make everything unique. WORDS TO KEEP IN MIND {MULTIPLE TYPES OF UNIQUENESS!!) Lets start with setting. Lets keep the "astronaut's view" the same and keep the cities where they are but take out the buildings and make them new and unique. No two buildings should be the same, unless it needs to be. Examples would be chain restaurants or such. Make it realistic as possible. For example my school has a gymnasium. I would add tragedy, zombie,and bandit gore into the scenery And how much time has past? you could have plant growth. speaking of time and nature. Instead of just 24 hours you could have seasons and weather (i'm talking storms)like you don't want to go out storms)(seasons/as updates). Next is objects, people and gameplay. starting with objects. Its cool that there are a lot of objects already in Dayz but what if we had 10 different types of the same item, say knives. when I'm talking knives, I'm talking 10 different looking butcher knives and 10 different hunting knives, and all were able to be customized (we are already working on customization, I see). but more please. More examples would be customizing vehicles. (things can be taken apart and destroyed completely specially if it requires teamwork.) like taking out an engine and replacing it using an engine hoist. I believe there should be many types of zombies as there is objects (one faster one taller one fatter one hungry) Alright lets go to health and stats. I would only add two perks to the game they are both realistic so it should be added. Number one is the longer you are alive the faster you will become, I mean think about if you ran everyday, you should be good at it Right. And number 2 is immunity to diseases over time. speaking of illness i think it should be me more of a visual thing. Same thing with dehydration. you wipe the sweat off you head. And one thing you should add is the option to rest in a bed for 5 10 minutes(which is risky and time consuming)(friend, foe and zombie can wake you) after rest illness is cured and if not sick you gain some % of health back. Now lets talk about servers. Hacking is a big thing in DayZ. A quick solution is to not have respawning, One saved character per server, And auto kick for extra scrips. This way people don't jump server to server to get better positions,and items on empty servers. And items that are on the server stay on the server. This makes hacked items easier to find.

  17. I agree. I have no issue with there being more military loot at the bases, but there should be random military loot all over the map. I'd like to stumble across wiped out patrols and broken down military vehicles (including helicopters) in random areas. I think some of you are missing the point of the game. Once you're geared up you don't have to go hunting you can...wait for it...continue exploring and surviving. You can also join a clan and help other players or take your chances and try to help people you meet (just be very careful and smart about how you do this). If you think KOS and "bambi hunting" are the only things to do once you gear up, you're part of the problem. I get more satisfaction out of finding gear one of my friends needs and giving it to them, healing injured friends or providing over watch while they loot than I do from killing a defenseless new spawn. You also might try using your imagination and setting a goal for yourself. On one spawn my goal was to make it to Lopatino "where I was from" to see if any of my family had survived.

    Horses, the almost perfect "vehicle"

    My humble opinion is, that before addition of horses, Cherno needs extra large piece of land mass, presumably on west. The mountainous, wooded, rough area, with the narrow mountain roads and trails. Area, where horses have preferences if compare with vehicles and if even walking on foot. Then this big rough area would be as kind of hiding place for horses and riders. They needs it, to be capable against more faster vehicles and in era of semi-automatic and full-automatic weapons. Because without this, would adding of horses be only a big slaughter fest, imho. Logically, depend by devs, whom they want to attract more, having added horses, fans of a slaughter or admirers of riding. If to speak about tactical use of horses, then i see them as fast transport on rough area (as i described), for small gangs, who will make fast raids on any village and then quickly retreat to safe mountains. A rough picture about the proposed area.

    To create a building in the game, it's not as simple as just making it on a 3D modelling program and plonking it into the world. Firstly, you have to create textures specifically for that building, and it's really hard to texture stuff from past experience, as in the art side of things. Secondly, you have to create coliders for the zombies. Currently it seems thats not working, but eventually they will be done properly so that zombies can path find around the buildings and don't just walk into the wall closest to you as apposed to walking through the door, and Thirdly, you have to create loot spawns in the buildings and on the items inside the buildings. So you're saying you want NO TWO buildings the same? Think realistically here... I think you're asking too much. Besides; we don't want them spending ages on buildings when they could be working on Vehicles :D

    I like your suggestions, although I am not a fan of any mounted HMG's being ingame especially if they fit to vehicles as you suggest. Based on my small experience with sub mods of dayz that had HMG's on vehicles it was a mess and way to overpowered in the hands of many.
  21. Someone had mentioned spears and bows earlier.. These have been suggested as improvised weaponry going into the game, and while the ideas aren't necessarily bad, bows and arrows and spears are a comparatively ineffective way of killing people. Its reasonable to assume that while some types of ammunition are going to be extremely rare, other types are relatively uncommon and will continue to be much more widely available than weapons used to fire them (the opposite may hold true for some military weapons..) So here are some examples for items that could have some kind of a primary function as survival gear in DAYZ, while also having an an option to be modified into improvised weapons to use some more common types of ammunition. I also noticed people complaining about the darkness at night, and remembered the solution of chem lights and flares that were present in the mod. These are by far better ways of tackling area-lighting than NVG, and also provide a more rapid solution to brightening an area than setting up something like a lantern or carrying a flashlight around to reveal your precise position. So, without further ado: flare gun. shoots flare rounds. useful for deploying flares at night to light an area.metal scraps (basic resource) + rubber tubing (basic resource) = 'craft flaregun insert' optionadd 'flaregun insert' to flare gun as attachment = modified flare gunfires shotgun shells, occupies 4 spaces. even less accurate than sawed-off.takes some wear/damage with every shotgun shell shot. Nail Gun used in construction, fires caseless nail ammo, large mag capacity.Can be used in construction for boarding-up structures or vehicles.Can be carried in Toolbelt/BoxNail ammo can be used as weapon. Super short-range and inaccurate.Use metal scraps (basic resource) on nail gun to modify it into Improvised Pistol, chambered to .22 Still quite inaccurate and short-range, but there you have a basic firearm with decent mag capacity that can use existing ammo Takes a small bit of damage with every shot fired on account of not being able to safely handle ammo type. Should night-vision ever be implemented into the game, it should use an improvised solution crafted out of Welder's Goggles (piece of glare-reducing eyewear) + Wiring + LED lights + Electrical tape and using batteries. Combining above items requiring pliers. Multi-step crafting involving both uncommon items and salvaged components of other items stripped using tools is a far better way of introducing items like that into the game than uber leet rare lootspawn for tryhard bros to spawnhop.

    Full build... Now what?

    That's the question that some friends and I have been asking. When you have everything to the max (improved weapons, clothes, tons of food and medics...) the only thing you can do in the game is walk or become a bandit. I don't like being a bandit as I don't like walking, so I'm not playing the game right now. I know that it's still alpha and there will be lots of things to do, all I'm trying to suggest is the focus on late-game features, like repairing a vehicle <- Totally would like to see it soon. It's just that you get your full build and then the remaining thing to do is kill those who still don't have it, and it's pretty annoying for them, so I would like to see alternatives for it. I know they are working at the camping system that would be cool for that, but I'd like to see soon some action to do like tons of more useful crafting and vehicles system prioritizing it over some other features they would have to do. What do you think? What would be some cool things to do after we have our items? (I wont talk about base or buildings because I know that there is a long way out from that, although I would really love it)

    Mechanic: Human vision in low light conditions

    I think it's a good idea but... very hard to make. Light, shadows and light sources are one of the hardest thing of grafic design. Your idea is only an unecessary complication and it will take a lot of time to be implemented. There are still more important thing to do (vehicles, for example) and the develop team is made only by five people... that's all. ps: your idea still looks pretty good, in my opinion :)
