    Sewn flags and patches.

    Not upside down, that's regulation.

    Sewn flags and patches.

Ok, so my proposal is that the developers add in flags and patches to be sewn onto material. These could be sewed on jackets, parkas, chest rigs, vests, back packs, etc... How players would go about obtaining these would be simple. Either on military bases, dead zombie military personnel, airfields, and sometimes factories are where flags/patches would appear. Flags from all nationalities on Earth should be represented. Though it would make sense to have a slight biased towards server location, and what countries have the heaviest population playing the game at the time, on that server. Not so much as to completely have an over abundance of that countries flags though. Variations in color should range from the traditional country's colors, to OD Green and other military camouflage colors. Patches should be available as well. These patches would be random in nature and on rare chance appear with multiple patches being identical, so if a group ran across them they could all sew them to their material. These items should be as rare as everything else in the game (even rarer on zombies), but as I said earlier sometimes occurring in packs. This goes without saying but I'll add it anyway you must have a sewing kit to sew any of them on. I apologize if this is a re-post.

Yeah, I thought about leaving the tanks out, but then again there has to be some derelict vehicles from the Military implementing quarantine procedures to contain the infection. Where I was going with the tank was that you may have access to the vehicle and the armor, without shells for it's main armament, and I can't stress this enough the items that are of Western origin would be of a rarity of perplexed imagination. They already have FN Herstal pistol in the game and that is made by a Belgian manufacturer so why not? Not to mention the Soviets also fought the Japanese Imperial army at the Battle of Khalkhin Gol in Mongolia from May-September of 1939 and beat them, causing the Japanese to bring a non-aggression pact to the table. By the end of World War II the Soviets captured some +500,000 Japanese POW's. Now given, they probably weren't all armed with Arisaka's, however dismissing the likelihood of weapons being there could be equated to them taking other things out of the game. Like only being able to play as people who exploit caucasoid like features. For instance here is a picture of the Home guard in Norway using a MG34 in 1987. Yes it is logical to assume there would be far more Soviet and Russian weapons and equipment left over, but you can't rule out the possibility entirely that there wouldn't be some sort of unique finds as a survivor in this landscape. Visiting the vehicles once more, maybe I wasn't clear enough. When I say things like APC's, LAV's, what you said BRDM's, so on an so forth. I mean these machines would be in dire need of repair, so you would have to go out and scavenge for parts. The rarity being similar to this: 2-5 civilian vehicles, 1-2 military vehicles (not including aircraft), and 1-2 military or civilian aircraft all of them being completely out of commission. None of the vehicles would come with mounted weapons, and as Steak and Potatoes pointed out the mounting could pose challenge. If the Heavy machine-gun parts were miraculously found and assembled, you'd have to have a squad to move it. One person carries the tri-pod, the other carries the actual weapon. Seeing as though totaled it would probably weigh 80lbs (38kg) and with tripod 127lbs (58kg). These things would not occur all over the place either. That's what separates a good survival game like this apart from the other vacuous run and guns. I didn't think I requested anything too ridiculous like a Hotchkiss repeating cannon from the late 19th century or anything. Believe it or not I can see the view-point of just wanting things that would more than likely be there, to be there. However I can't help but feel restricted as a player with just this and that, the world is at your disposal, most of man-kind has faded from the Earth. But I do subscribe that there is a large needle of reasonability that should be injected into the game before it is finalized. In summary I can see your case and point, but I don't fully agree with it. As a note: Yes, I am well aware the Germans occupied Norway for a little over 5 years in World War II.

I can totally see the Arisaka and both Enfield's. The Japanese fought the Russians/Soviets in the Russo-Japanese and in World War II. Captured weapons from them could have proliferated over into Eastern Europe and the fictional country of Chernarus. Or maybe they were in transport to another place for whatever reason. As for the M1917, Oodles could've been left in Europe after the first and second World War. Millions of all three of these rifles were made in their country of origin. I just think it would make the game more diverse, it can easily be written into the plot using whatever back story you want.

I've played DayZ since it was just a wi mod, and recently purchased a copy for a friend and I. I am also considering buying two more copies for other friends. This maybe a small contribution to the whole of the game but I would like to think it adds a little weight to my words. I support many games that are in alpha, if I believe they show promise. That being said... Weapons Bolt-action rifles: Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk. III (chambered in: .303 British) M1917 "American Enfield" (chambered in: .30-06 Springfield) Karabiner 98 Kurz (chambered in: 7.92x57mm Mauser) Type 38 Arisaka (chambered in: 6.5x50mm Arisaka) Automatic/Semi-automatic Rifles: AK-74 (chambered in: 5.45x39mm) AK-47 (chambered in: 7.62X39mm) AKS-74U (chambered in: 5.45x39mm) Vz-58 (chambered in: 7.62x39mm, or another AK-variant of some kind) Steyr AUG (chambered in: 5.56x45mm) H&K Gewehr36 (chambered in: 5.56x45mm) Designated Marksmans rifles: SVD Dragunov (chambered in: 7.62x54mmR) Heckler & Koch G3 (chambered in: 7.62x51mm) Zastava M76 (chambered in: 7.92x57mm Mauser) Pistols: M1911A1 (chambered in: .45 ACP) Glock 21 (chambered in .45 ACP) Glock 17 (chambered in 9x19mm) Makarov PM (chambered in: 9x18mm) CZ-75 (chambered in: .40 S&W) MP-443 Grach (chambered in: 9x19mm) M9 Beretta (chambered in: 9x19mm) Light-Machine guns: PKM (chambered in: 7.62x54mmR) RPK (chambered in: 5.45x39mm) RPD (chambered in: 7.62x39mm) M249 Squad automatic Weapon (chambered in: 5.56x45mm) Heavy-machine guns and Crew served weapons: DShK (chambered in: 12.7x108mm) M2 Browning "Ma Deuce" (chambered in: 12.7x99mm) RM-38 light infantry mortar (chambered in: 50mm) Other mortars would be cool as well. I'm basing the heavier weapons such as this on sieges, if a group of survivors fortify a position. Though I want these sorts of weapons to be far more rare than their other small arms counter parts. An example is you would typically find parts for these weapons, and you would have to assemble them, they would have to be used in a practical manner. For instance the M2 and DShK could not be deployed on the ground without tri-pods. But they could be easily adapted to fit vehicles. I.e. APC's, Tanks, etc... In closing I would like to point out select weapons in this posts are probably scheduled for development, and release. I know some of these weapons some are probably suggested in other posts, and also am aware that I did not have to list all of the weapon chamberings in this post. I was feeling meticulous. To the Dev's I would like to congratulate them on the weapons already in the game (you're headed in the right direction). What's highlighted in red is what I would believe to be silly not to appear in the final product. I also enjoy the rarity and frequency with which firearms can be found. I don't believe Soviet Military equipment, nor the ratio between Civilian v.s. Military clothing and supplies is canon to the games setting or environment. Anyone who else who says differently is entitled to their own opinion, but I feel like it would take away from the game. We live in a global economy, sure there are regulations on the import and export of Military weapons and vehicles, but whose to say where everything is or should be? That being said the line of absurdity is drawn when guided weapons, smart bombs, and advanced hardware enter the fold. If you want that go play Battlefield or Call of Duty. Though I would like to think the people who play this are a more mature audience. Lastly I would like to see some vehicles like Helicopters, Light armored vehicles, Troop transports, Armored Personnel Carriers, Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles, and finally A Cessna or single engine prop. aircraft (as a scout plane)It seems like a lot of the servers I'm joining now are night, are they real time? What's up with that? As a note I am well aware this is the Alpha but these are some expectations, and I don't expect all of these to come through, but I would like to think some of them will make it into the final game.
