  1. I would rather they fix the problems with the existing game(play) rather than taking a huge leap like adding vehicles. Vehicles are for private hives and people who have a lot of time to get and maintain (hoarde) said vehicles. Because everyone gives a shit about what i think here is a small list of very broad issues that i think need to be addresed. 1. sound "issues" 2. better / more / respawing zombies. (I like the fact they all spawn when the server restarts though) 3. loot "issues"....im not even sure where they are going with this, are they going to keep it so loot only spawns on server restart or are they going to a respawing loot system? 4. fix issues with broken attachments ie. silencer, compensator, bipod, handguards, stocks. (just a few balance issues to sort out here) 5. hunting and cooking 6. improved sickness / health / fatigue system 6. add stupid amout of different gunz / attachments (Im talking like at least 4 different gus that are going to be similar to the m4, cos variety is the spice of life) 7. more hats 8. weather effects, night time fixes (torches not going thorugh buildings) 8. general networking performance (what ever that means, less lag and connection issues i guess) then when it starts to get really serious you bring out the big gunz... 9. Private hives, *mind explosion* will fix server hoping/combat log (i can wait) 10. Tents / stashes / undergound lair 11. Vehicles

  3. I was thinking of a way to construct a good respawn system, and I figured, set spawn points within buildings, and choose a spawn point by basically checking if a player is within that region and at a safe distance away to provide 'elbow room' to explore. Intentions to benefit the game system and intentions of a future spawn system I'd like to see: ∙A Respawn system where people aren't going to 'shoot all the noobs on the shore' Because they know they spawn there, or basically, to make spawning less predictable than was inthe Mod. ∙To prevent people from intending to target noobs and go to a certain area, preventing mechanic abuse. (Noob Camping / Abusive Kill Farming) ∙To prevent people from server hopping and 'stumbling' upon caches of goods, future stashed vehicles, bases. Since people would hide their items in similar places, people can log in to all the 'sweet spots' to scan predictable areas. ∙To prevent Sniper Camping, and overall Bad experiences for spawns whether experienced or Newbie. Optional conditions: ∙Where items are around ( A place in a region where a certain number of Items exist within a certain radius thereof) ∙Where a criteria of scavengable items can be found within a certain range: Is it near anty kind of medical supplies, is it near food, is it near water sources. ∙Is a player with a ranged weapon within a certain range? (Because of Snipers / Noob Farmers) Side Notes: It would make rational / logical sense to me to start off in a building, and maybe a brief text intro of what is outside, point being, to provide some situational awareness. such as 'I've awakened to hear zombies outside' Or 'I had a good sleep' Which would indicate there are no zombies, Also, I feel it adds to the situational awareness to state where my location is on the screen because most people need to figure out where they are with a map, and to just spawn ina building is like waking up there, whoever got there should know where they are if we want to have more of a rational story behind it. (Like I saw in the Mod when I was playing it a while back) Conclusion: I know in most servers Camping / Farming won't be an issue, but a good respawn system with integrity outlasts in the long run and especially on high traffic servers where there is a higher chance sketchy individuals would like to abuse the system for sick pleasure or easy profits. I would also like to see suggestions.

    Final Game

according to devs, beta will appear just before the 2015, so now we may wait for animals, hunting, very basic vehicles like cars, and new weapons...

    Final Game

I would have to say I would be very very surprised to see vehicles in 3 months

    Reward system

the reward should be group-based crafting - such as bases and vehicles. The materials should be very tedious to collect and process for manufacturing the final product. TEAMWORK IS REWARD!!

    Instant coffee and/or energy drinks

Energy drinks are just caffeine and sugars. read up on them. Soda in game already gives you hydration plus a food bonus. So it's an 'energy drink'. If you go this way you end up saying - but all people are different, they have different ages, different fitness... put that in the game. But then you will complain when you respawn as an overweight 45 year old no-exercise MacDo freak, totally out of condition, with fallen arches so you cant run. Then everyone wants to respawn as a 23 year old female freestyle rock climbing champion (small body, less food required, peak fitness, high strength to weight ratio, top stamina). Or Rambo or Jackie Chan. whatever. And what happens to your character if he eats too much meat and not enough vegetables? Bad news. How about we just get making fire, boiling water, crafting, sickness-control, hunting, vehicles, and plenty of bad mean zombies in the game first? And leave stuff like energy drinks, valium (for your stress), military amphetamines, and coffee, alcohol, ginseng, worry-beads, lucky rabbits feet, etc .. until much later (or never)? And you really should read up about 'energy drinks'. ps - a well known energy drink in the real world is offering bonus stuff for CoD, if you collect enough ringpulls ... hehehe. Please don't take this badly. xx pilgrim

    Restrictive servers

I.... Well.... What?? The first thing that popped into my head was "its another game" lol.* Are you talking about the mod? Because we dont have any barriers in the Stand Alone yet, and sure as hell no vehicles yet :)

What do we really want as far as zombies?

Short of having the sort of numbers you see in that Walking Dead episode where the main character is cornered in a tank, you will never, ever see zombies of that sort be a realistic threat to anybody. (For reference: Large city intersection, 100m visibility each way. Four lanes. Completely and very densely packed with zombies: walls of flesh on all sides) It would be nice to see variation in walking/running speed though. Consider the idea that the fresher a zombie is, the better its motor functions and general functionality will be. Its body parts haven't had time to decay. Most of its ligaments and muscles are still intact. It runs fast. On the flipside: Its body looks like a motley patchwork. You can see inside in places, sometimes to the bone. He's been through a lot, a real survivor... but he's not getting anywhere quickly. Or if he does, he's not going to be hitting anyone very hard. If at all. They should also be able to spawn in driveable vehicles, along with dummy zombies (decoy bodies). Same thing with normal spawns - have some spawns that are just dead zombies, persistent until restart. Some zombies obviously start lying down and not moving, so it adds another element of risk to the game. Sure, it adds to resource consumption, and so will probably have to wait for a lot of optimisation to be done, but the idea's there. Lastly: I mentioned the idea of zombies grabbing and tackling you. I would like to expand on this a bit. Crawlers, when they reach you, aren't going to get up and start belting you in the face. They will wrap their hands/arms around whatever limb is closest to them and start trying to eat it, or bashing it with/into whatever they can do so. Crouchers will bite/beat at legs or feet, potentially causing enough damage to limit or prevent walking/running. They can also pounce from their crouched position, crash tackling the player to the ground, into props/furniture, or into walls, dealing damage depending on the surface and speed of collision. Runners will simply bowl into the player, striking, biting, etc... usually after having knocked the player (or players, depending on proximity upon collision) to the ground with their initial charge. Good co-ordination means they will be able to pivot on heels or quickly recover if they miss on a charge/pounce/other manouvre and immediately try again. Zombies could additionally drool or spit when they make their more agitated noises, potentially infecting a bleeding or heavily wounded player.
  10. We have now introduced the Namalsk blowout effect for an added survival aspect. In addition, we done some changes to the car spawning system, so there should now be easier to find server spawned vehicles. Selling these vehicles proves an effective source of income, and thereby a foothold, for new players. And we are still planning some other additions and improvements over the next week. Welcome to The Purgatory, and stay tuned!

Things you want to see in SA updates first.

Sound carrying more. I think you should be able to hear gunfire from several miles off, and shouting from much farther away than you can currently. And footsteps, especially if running through a forest or on hard floors - if you want to sneak up on someone, you should have to actually creep. Buff melee weapons. There's a certain threshold above which it doesn't really matter what you hit a human being with. Zombie or player alike, if I whack them in the head with a baseball bat or a wrench or a crowbar, they shouldn't still be standing there - even a helmet shouldn't stop them being knocked over. Axes are the only useful melee weapon at the moment - the rest of them might as well not be in the game. Fatigue. You should not be able to sprint flat out for mile upon mile. At all. And sprinting even a short distance should require you to drink and rest immediately afterwards, or else suffer. You should not be able to jog massive distances with heavy packs on, either, without suffering big penalties. Add vehicles for people who want to get around quickly; but make fuel scarce, while the risk of accidents, inability to negotiate rough terrain and the noise and increased exposure as a target also acting as disincentives. You shouldn't be able to sling the larger weapons over your shoulder unless you have a means to attach them (like rope): you should have to carry them in your hands. Exposure to the elements. The next biggest concern for survivors besides finding food and water is finding shelter. At present, clothes are useful only in terms of how many pockets they have: shoes should affect your feet and by extension your movement capacity; you should have to keep yourself warm or cool, depending on time of day; you should have to keep yourself dry. If not, you should face exhaustion and sickness.

    Why ARMA Engine?

^ ya that just cause 2 mplayer stuff is insane watched an LGR review and there was ~600 people on the server! wtf I kinda remember JC2, and the gfx were a bit better than SA i think? maybe way better? cant remember...reminded me of FC3 though. Such beauty in the world. i think it was 3rd person only and 3rd person vehicles as well.

    Do guns need balancing?

No, you should be carrying whichever gun you are lucky enough to find and have ammo for, because they should be so rare that you don't get to pick and choose from the entire selection with every character you play. Sorry, I know it has little to do with the subject of this thread, but I really hate the thought of this becoming like the mod where it seems the whole map is one giant free candyshop of highgrade military stuff and badass vehicles and choppers. And yes, of course guns should not be "balanced out". They should resemble their reallife equivalents.
  15. i was playing with my friends this late January around 29th or so. i had a nice character with some very lame gear but i liked my location etc etc. i logged in and my character wiped completely... what did i do? i loged out and checked and yes my character had been wiped from simply joining a server. i joined a new server with few ppl (5) and 50 ping very nice, i ran to elektro and had some Serious Rubberbanding on the way. i ran to the firestation and grabbed a few items and geared up nicely. then the server restarted, okay i rejoined the server. my chracter got a completely new Spawn, completely wiped and spawned at the coast. Why Are Servers 70+USD?

More than double the price than the mod and 10 less total players---very high price point. Also, didn't Hall say waaaay back that they really want to do servers that can handle 150 players? If they stick to this pricing model, I mean---am I the only one that thinks the pricing is absolute robbery? I find it insulting. If this is the way its going to be, I can see how its going to be when private servers come out. Donor loadouts, 1000+ vehicles, self blood-bag/saline.

    SA Suggestions....Again

Hello fellow survivors, I have not yet played the SA because I despise steam, but I had a great idea and wanted to share it. I'm not sure I this is in or not, but I thought that adding flashlight and laser sight attachments with battery or charge power would be great. Like if you're running using flashlights in a dark cqb battle (like the sewers they're supposed to have) and it runs out and all that. Another suqqestion is the ability to place objects on flat parts of vehicles. Now this could cause some problems but it also could add great possibilities. I don't mean base building, just when base building is added, you could place a safe or chest on a vehicle. I this was implemented I would so have a yacht base Third suggestion is the ability to walk around on boats. Now I don't think there are vehicles in SA but I haven't played it. Anyway, when they are added, if there are boats I would love to see the ability to walk on them like a fishing boat or maybe a small sports yacht. This could lead to Water bases and water base raids. Fourth suggestion is underwater abilities... Again not sure if they are implemented or not but it would make for a cool experience. Think underwater battles and if they implement boats you could hijack boats . Maybe there could be some underwater threats like sharks or barracudas, even if the human population dies off, the underwater food chain and life cycle might stay relevant. Fifth and final topic is future maps and mods? I hear the dev team is open to modding the SA an allowing people to create mods for it. I would like to see you guys post some suggestions for mods and maps as I might create one myself. See you all later :) -TheGoldenCreeper

    My Last Rant

I know what you mean OP, I suggest you to come back when the game get's more stuff to do, like vehicles and building. I still enjoy playing it but don't know for how long, the game just feels like running around pointlessly and staying alive doesn't really reward you. Also here are some tips that I use when I interact with people. - See them before they see you, don't let them see you, get as close as possible and make contact with a microphone - 3RD person - Stay in cover - Try to sound as friendly and relaxed as possible - Don't even try to interact with people who have: clown masks, full military gear + M4 - Never trust anyone - Watch your back when interacting with other players - If the other player has a weapon in his hands tell him to put it away - Say that you are friendly - Ask if he has friends around - Keep your gun lowered when he sees you - When you want to leave tell him to keep his gun down and walk to the opposite direction
  20. You forgot the part about 90% infection rate whenever a zombie hit you in 1.7.7.1.. Where everyone was infected all the time, and finding Antibiotics could be a week long process..Where you had to keep eating beef steaks just to keep your color from fading to black.. Where if you found a tent with 3 Antibiotics stashed in it, you were more happy than the time you shot that guy on sniper hill and stole his RangeFinders and NVG's. Something I'd like to remind everyone of: You are not a person in DayZ.. You are a mobile loot pile that MIGHT be able to shoot back.. If you're good. There are no owners in DayZ, only 'users'.. You do not own your vehicles, your inventory, or whatever is/was in your tent. You're just using that stuff until someone takes it from you, or it gets destroyed... And it will get taken from you, and it will get destroyed. For those of you who are whining now: I recommend you either grow a pair or quit the game now and go play something that suits you better. If you're struggling in the current incarnation of DayZ SA, then you will HATE this game by the time it goes Gold. DayZ SA is a walk in the park compared to certain versions of the mod.
  21. I imagine vehicles will be introduced when they implement fatigue and stop the I can sprint forever mechanic that's in at the moment. until then I am happy being THE FLASH Wish they would add the Suit to the loot though :P

    Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557

Well it's a forum about the update and I'm talking about what isn't in the update. By the way, I already did. That's exactly what I want, difficult to attain cars just like in the mod, that are fuel-hungry. It gives players something to work towards other than straight up banditry once they have full loot. So everything on there is garbage? Great member of the community you are. And if you can't discuss what was in or not in the update, what is this thread even for? Yeah it does. Everybody else manages to get by without bumping up the size to 69, you can too. Colour isn't incorrect, gameplay is a word, and devs is an abbreviation, but nice try. I'm only asking for a little content which will last us for a lot more entertainment. And if you aren't talking about content being held off, then what's the problem with vehicles being added and their bugs being fixed earlier? Why are they not important compared to berries? How is what you said even relevant then? I'm serious. What I have been told is that vehicles are going to take some time because they will be implemented along with thrown objects in a physics architecture, so that they can do realistic crashes and stuff. But having a car that for now just turns and hugs the ground, and can't go up steep slopes, rather than tipping over and stuff, will be a lot quicker to chuck in and worth it for the testing which can be made easier with it around. You're condescending, but no reasons to back yourself up. Wise words there-- the true meaning of the game is having fun. That is indeed most games, although the devs also strive for reality. Adding a car into the game adds to the fun by eliminating boring running for ages and giving quicker exploration of the map, as well as realistically adding in cars that would be there in real life. Actually, they can take a request and run with it if they so choose-- they take suggestions and comments from the community frequently, which is a major reason of the forums to even exist. The plans, at the moment, are making us wait for very basic features of the game we could have so much sooner. But they could do it sooner and then I wouldn't have to wait months on end, with the constant risk that the game will flip and do a WarZ. I know it's a bloody alpha, and that things won't get here instantly. But really, I feel like a guy being given socks by the Salvation Army when he just wants food. My friend and I were really looking forward to the update, thinking "here comes the first cars, maybe zombie loot". Open it up and WOW! NOW YOU CAN SPRAY PAINT GUNS! ISN'T THAT GREAT????? So I checked out the experimental build. WOW! MORE TYPES OF PANTS! BURLAP BAGS ON HEAD! BEST OF ALL, SPRAY PAINT WEAPON MAGAZINES! Look, most of the changes are fun and interesting. But I just want them to do the basics first.

Seriously noone encourage bobo , he's been plaguing the forums with the same request for vehicles ... Bobo. The reason why vehicles aren't in yet is because the dev team knows the people who played the mod won't need vehicles because they understand the true meaning of the game : just having fun . And unfortunately if you need to roam around a huge map in a vehicle to be content then dayz isn't the game for you ,YET . It will have vehicles but they (devs) cannot just take any request and run with it , they have plans and in my opinion they are doing pretty damn good with the execution of the alpha release . So please bobo we don't hate you but we hate your constant nagging , it's like my wife is in my damn ear .. Love you honey;) good thing she won't see this . Listen to fisheye haha . ^^^
