All you need is a sledgehammer (professionals use vehicles these days), pliers, a crowbar and maybe a blowtorch. No need to be unrealistic in that department.

They might make it generally very complex to bust someones base."" Can't be done unless you have a timer for using tools on a base. No way you can protect an undefended base for more than a couple of minutes. Let alone 2 weeks. You know you want to be naked in the dark every time you log on. lol

    But the world does keep playing when you're not around. Vehicles can be taken, tents can be raided, spots you camp can be looted. This is how DayZ is, it is a major selling point to many many people and to completely ignore that precedent now would be suicidal of the devs. Hell, many people play this game specifically to hunt down hidden caches, you'd be completely killing that aspect of the game. Hell, why even hide your cache well if it is magic and can't be broken into. So I guess that aspect of the game goes out the window too. Seriously though, the devs are never going to add anything let alone something as powerful as bases that just can't be interacted with by anyone, except with the owners permission (which is essentially what you're asking for if you make this tied to your character being logged in). They might add locks that require lock picks or explosives. They might make it generally very complex to bust someones base. But I can guarantee you that they will never ever in a million years add anything you can't carry on your survivor that will be safe from other players when you log out.

    How would you guys like a Weight and Stamina system ?

    I want the stamina and weight system even before vehicles are in. It's ridiculous how we can run forever as it is. Makes the infected a non factor even with them respawning.
  7. While there are no vehicles im gonna say no but further down the line i would love to see a stamina system and the ability to infinite sprint removed.
  8. I just thought about how important a stamina system would make vehicles such as cars and bikes . While costing stamina too and tiring the player a bicycle would make treking long distances more feasible. With a stamina system getting from berenzino to say balota would not take 30 or so minutes like it does now it would take a few hours due to the reduced speed and having to take breaks.

    Thats my brother, who i took this account from, who left to wait for vehicles, and i cant change my username so im stuck with it Bug found: Whenever i drop a gun on the ground that does not use/have a mag in it but has bullets, then pick it up, it sais the gun is empty and i cant fire it, but when i try reloading it sais its full and when on the ground it has ammo in it. Reorted to bug tracker.

  13. Seriously........ Did anyone expect the game to be in this state 3 months after its release? I want to love this game so much but I feel its slipping away day by day as no real update of any significance are applied. And so it remains, Zero loot re-spawning, no method of storing items other than on ones person, limited zombies etc etc I just don’t understand why we were told that the loot would be handled differently but they clearly didn’t have a clue how to achieve this. Were were told that the standalone would be hacker proof …..WHY ????? The FPS are god awful now with not even 10% of the game content Vehicles end of Q4 ? really……. Why can’t they give us a mountain bike or something? I know 99% of you will respond saying ITS AN ALPHA BLA BLA BLA , but come on WE ALL EXPECTED MORE THAN THIS. The Basic core elements of the mod are not even realised at this stage and Dean leaves in 9 months.

    Really for only being out for 3 months, the game is very much playable. For alpha, that's not bad. There are bugs, yes, but there are also games fully released with gamebreaking bugs. It's not that bad. Running everywhere sucks, but it still only took me around 15 min to actually make it from Pavlovo to Berezino yesterday. Jam something in that W key and go AFK for a few minutes. It goes by pretty quick. Once vehicles are added, though, I think you'll see a lot more people out in the world and not Elektro death matching it. Plenty more to come. Don't play if you don't like it right now. You still own the game and get it when it goes to beta or release.

    Can't wait for 'base building' but, as people said. These bases cannot require super high grade camo/explosives etc. to break into. But, at the same time, I feel they should not be raidable by a simple one man operation. That would cause waaaay to many trolls. My personal plan for a base is simple, find a base in the middle of nowhere, fortify it with a few hidden traps, maybe a few of those tank traps used since WW1 (hopefully) make it really discreet. As for cameras, maybe a makeshift form of camera, which would show an extremely low quality image on a screen, not perfect, but still gets the job done. In addition, traps are a must. Regarding what everyone is saying about vehicles, think, in an apocalypse, everyone is in a rush to escape, therefore vehicles will litter streets, military roadblocks would also be prevalent. So, I feel as though fully operational cars, helis etc should be rare, yet, it should be super easy to scrap together a car from different parts found from other cars that litter the road. It wouldn't be perfect, but enough to get the job done. For those whom disagree, think about it. Let's look at the current state of the country all of us are playing in... Everything is deserted, no traders have moved in, no other people than us, zombies aren't to scratched up, they actually look pretty recently infected, therefore, this whole catastrophe could not have happened more than maybe 13 months to 2 years ago.... So, there will be plenty of bits and pieces which can be put together to make something awesome, kinda like Dead Rising 3 (albeit, not so crazy and unrealistic).

    I wonder if people realize that neither the stable nor the experimental build servers represent all of what the development team has done? There's a development branch server out at BI with a whole lot of things going, that just aren't ready to be pushed out yet. A server with things like working bows and crossbows, rag-doll physics, and likely simple vehicles and a load of other things still being tuned. Probably more tightly tuned zombies, some sound fixes, and the like as well.

    As long as its not self bloodbag, spawn with the most powerful gun in the game, and 100,000 vehicles, or easy-mode zombies I'm pretty much open to most suggestions mod wise.

    they should stick to the basics, yes. i dont want this game to be a stealthy TF2/Left 4 Dead bastard. i want it to be kinda an antigame; hard surviving, rare loot, threat of getting shot, strong zombies in connection with a realistic gameplay, and some goals to achieve. simple, easy and good. cant wait for tents and vehicles tho. they shoulod be rare as fuck and hard to build up. but i guess it will take some time since things would all disappear when a server restarts. we can start talk about it when loot respawns and night will be more fun, so servers dont get restarted every 4 hours there are some things i thought about what players could do in the future. maybe players could invade a radio tower or something and send massages to everyone using walkie talkies /radios, maybe the possibility to build one or 2 draisine's to use on the railroad track on a railwaystation etc this would create some more ''hot spots'' for players to go and do something, instead of military bases only

    Finding somewhere called home

    I have no issue with groups shutting down whole towns. It shouldn't be easy. But it should be possible. Imagine walking along a quiet woodland road, you see a small village in the distance. You keep following the road until you come to an unmanned barricade with skulls on pikes and a sign saying "KEEP OUT." Well, you're a big boy and this is DayZ, so you go in anyway. You scout out the village only to find a clan doing clan things (storing loot, building vehicles, jerking off, sitting by campfires, taking screenshots, menacing other players, etc.) You wait until nightfall, sneak in through their perimeter, and do whatever you want to do (i.e. steal, kill them, release prisoners, etc.) Again, so long as items (like HESCOs) have suitable counters (like being able to be destroyed/climbed/vaulted) I see no reason why they shouldn't be implemented. Moreover, if they are suitably rare, difficult to set up, and resource-intensive, that further justifies the advantage in being able to block of certain areas.

    I hope Epoch-style base building doesn't come for a long time. I would much rather see the DayZ experience focus around fortifying existing buildings and using them as their bases. No hoarding of vehicles in a base. No NPC traders. This would lead to larger groups/clans taking over apartment buildings or police stations in towns because they would be big and easy to fortify and defend. If you want to keep your vehicle it should be hidden from sight (add vehicle camouflage + lockable garages). Every player should have a chance to steal a vehicle or siphon its gas. Bicycles would be prized over cars because they could be dismantled and stored safely.

    Fortifying bases would be good, and I think this should come when vehicles come since you don't really need bases until there's vehicles. They should also add epoch to DayZ. Just the building part though. I don't think they should add the traders from epoch. Security cameras would be realistic, but need to be extremely rare, and hard to get the materials to make them fully working. Since it's a zombie apocalypse, anything with working technology should be EXTREMELY rare. The rarest items in the game in my opinion.

    Dean has already said that vehicles are going to be modular, meaning you could possibly swap parts between them. So at least something similar might be doable in the vanilla game.

    Im sorry but people are getting warnings for doing exactly what you did right there.... 9) Unnecessary posts: Posting "don't care" or "so what" or any posts along those lines are unnecessary, inflammatory, and do not add to the discussion. Please ellaborate, like the rest of us are doing, your a mod so set a better example tbh.... We get told this on a daily basis, so it should apply to everyone. @OP Its really hard to say "which one is better", as the core mechanics in each is very very different. As far as i can see, the mod is alot more run'n'gun PVP focus, with tons of vehicles, weapons and resources. The SA is trying to do things differently, with more complex core mechanics (blood, energy, water, food, etc.) and its also trying to make everything more difficult to find. In general, it looks like the SA is going for a more "survival game" feel, then the mod ever had, but its so early in development its just to early to say which is best tbh. It took a long time and a lot of effort to get the mod to where it is today, and the same can be said for the SA :) But do remember, most of what you find in the mod, is a direct port from Arma or from an Arma mod, most of the "developers" arent developers, they merely copy paste stuff around. (ofc not all, some are true developers and write up alot of code for the mod) The SA, is being build from scratch, with new assests and almost nothing already existing in Arma, its a much much bigger task then making any mod.

    I cant wait for the inevitable "1000 vehicles | Full Start Gear" server crap, because it will give the people who are playing this as a pure-PVP game, the correct place to be for insta-action. Its gonna be so nice, when we finally have vanilla servers, with people who actually wants to do more then just run'n'gun all day, every day. This game is about so much more then PVP, the core concept is player interations, choices and consequences, and to be frank, shooting anyting that moves, is not interaction, its just your regular generic shooter game tbh. And as long as everybody shoots everybody, all the time, there arent any player interactions and the concept of the game is lost. Dont get me wrong, i will never set foot on a server like that, i did once and i crashed 5 Ospreys in 20 mins, just for the hell of it, it has nothing to do with DayZ, as far as im concerned :) However, its gonna be nice to park all the ADD kids, who play this game as COD/BF/CS (whatever), on these servers so the rest of us can actually enjoy the game, as its ment to be enjoyed. And no, theres no reason to start anything like "I HOPE THIS NEVER COMES" or "WHY Y DO DIS", it will happen and we all know it, its inevitable. The only way to stop these servers from popping up, is to remove modding completely from DayZ, which will never happen. Ohh and whitelist, for the love of god i want whitelist :)
