    Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

Looks good so far, though I'm still waiting for vehicles (I miss my trusty GAZ :( ). I guess I'll go looking for that road map thread I keep seeing people talk about... Anyways, heart attacks sound cool, if they get implemented in the right way. I don't want to suffer a heart attack form running, because as people have previously mentioned, it wouldn't really make any sense. the "Eat All" function is nice too, although I do agree with some people above me that the animation should be extended if you choose to "Eat All". Also liking the new buildings, although I don't think I've ever been to Olsha or Khelm before. Will have to check them out. One more thing: One of the additions mentioned was a new Orthodox chapel. Does this mean a single chapel has been placed on the map? If so, does anyone know where it is? Or does it just mean that all chapels are now enterable (I couldn't seem to get into the one in Pustoshka)?
  2. This. Books should exist as reference manuals to be used in repairing weapons, vehicles and anything else that requires technical knowledge. In this way they would really just be an ingredient, albeit a reusable one. I'd also like to see them exist and able to be read. This game is about patience, and a lot of the books in the game are public domain: I'd love to be sneaked up on and kidnapped whilst sitting on the beach reading a book!
  3. With this whole implementation of Heart Attacks and sickness from weather conditions, why not introduce some sort of skill tree. You see it in all sorts of games, including infestation :) Make it so when your character dies, you lose all gained XP and must start fresh. Gain experience from specific activities that go towards spendable points in certain branches, like mechanical branch, medical, survival, fighter, ect. For Example: Healing survivors using bandages / saline iv / epinephrine / morphine / defib -gain points to be used in a medical branch to reduce time it takes to perform medical actions, reduce the % of a bandage used, increase healing effectiveness of saline iv / blood bags, increased immunity against illness or heart attack, ect Killing zombies / other survivors -gain points to be used in fighting / survival branch to increase melee damage, reduce weapon sway, increase base health, increase hold breath time, reduce recoil, the ability to canabalize, ect Building structures / repairing vehicles -gain points to be used in mechanical branch to reduce time it takes to perform tasks, increase fuel efficiency, increase speed offroad, allow for additional armaments to be added to vehicle/building. ------- They just need to give survivors more incentive to actually SURVIVE.. Plus it would give friendly survivors more reason to help out other players. Stupid idea? Too much like other games? Brilliant?

    Chernarus Radio Tower

So I came across the radio tower expecting snipers and and a ton of people and there was nobody there I thought to myself Man, this would be awesome if I could broadcast across Chernarus from this radio tower to anybody that had a walkie talkie! So Why can't we!?? It conjures up images of Three Dog from Fallout 3 broadcasting across the Capital Wasteland That would give this place a tactical advantage and meaning in the game. If a group could control the radio tower and then be able to use it like a giant walkie talkie to coordinate their groups on the ground and in vehicles and Heli's later I know it's alpha but this needs to be in the game. I also think power stations should be able to supply light at night making them tactical targets too. It would give the world meaning and also give people some reason to wander to certain spots instead of the military bases and airfields Also it would GET PEOPLE AWAY from the COAST seriously folks the map is huge get out of the cities

Just died of heart attack, incredibly stupid

Unlimited sprinting is needed until there are some types of vehicles. Solodude, It is excessive. The game needs to have a good balance of realism and fun, which is how it felt it was going. Adding heart attacks start to slide it down a slope of ridiculousness. Heart attacks don't sound fun. There is such thing as too much. Are we going to add cavities into the game from drinking too much soda? To be quite fair, if heart attacks are meant to not happen randomly etc, other things need to be added/straightened out before they are implemented.
  6. THE LAST STAND Server IP: 68.233.251.105:2302 Hey everyone, I have set up all the initial features on the server with the help of many on this forum. It's now ready for players to start populating the server. The features as of right now include: Self-BB auto refuel suicide take clothes build snap no plot pole Salvage Safe Trader Zones AI Missions additional buildings (Barracks at different locations) *Active adult admins* 400+ vehicles Death messages are off and Cross hairs are on. An admin will be on everyday to make sure everything is running ok and helping out players, we have anti-hack and DDOS protection to help out. I've added additional barracks to the Taviana map and I will be hosting additional random events with a good reward at the end of it. The server is using the DZMS AI system, so there will be one minor mission and one Major mission going at all times which will display on the map, good loot will be at these. I will also be giving starter construction packages to the first several players that come on and enjoy the server to help jump start it. I'm always looking for feedback from the players on my server to help improve it for everyone as best I can.
  7. Inventory: -Rework inventory system and items that follow to volume and weight realism level. (A pen doesnt take 1 slot.) Remove everything except players, the landscape, buildings and infrastructure. -Add current player starting kit. (with proper weight / volume attached to items) -Add flora and fauna (food). -Add current health system. -Add random lootspawn. Spawn 1 type of small backpack, fire axe and magnum + ammo. (weaponized PvP / PvE.) Navigation: -Add writable map, pen and compass. Storage: -Add "sticks" and opaque camo net. -Add piles. A pile is a designated area that can be achieved by 4 "sticks" in the ground. The maximum storage capacity (based on volume of surface area) is limited by the "stick" to "stick" lengths and should be able to contain (a pile of) the largest item (not vehicle) in game. The pile is covered by an opaque camo net to avoid loading potentially 100's of items. Piles are accessible by everyone. Interaction with the pile can be hand, backpack and vehicle. Individual character piles are relocated instantly when they die and a map with the new location spawns on their corpse. Clans: -Add clans. This can be as simple as a rock or pole with (erasable) character names on it. -Add clan based communal piles. These can still be accessed by everyone. If all clan members are dead, all communal piles are relocated to unknown locations after 5 minutes. A map with the locations spawns on the last member to die. Base building: -Rework buildings to suit base building / destruction and desired level of realism. (start with buildings that generate the most problems) All reworked models should allow paint on exposed surfaces. -Add tools for working metal, stone / concrete and wood. (includes welder / cutter / generator) -Add gathering building materials. -Add shaping gathered materials to desired dimensions. -Add 3 dimensional piles (8 "sticks") which must be encased in wood or metal on 5 sides (with lockable lid optional) and can be incorporated into vehicles during vehicle construction. 3D piles larger than "y" can not be picked up by hand and have to be constructed on site -Replace troublesome buildings with reworked models. -Add lockable doors. -Add base building. (make exposed surfaces of placed parts paint friendly) -Continue adding reworked models. Vehicles: -Rework vehicles to suit point 3 -Add vehicles. -Add altering mechanical properties and player designed superstructures. Make exposed surfaces of placed parts paint friendly (Many designs will likely resemble light tanks without (large) guns and im absolutely fine with that.) -Add spare parts. Paint: -Add paintbrush. -Add paint including 3 shades of green, grey and brown. Weather: -Add weather impacting health. Zombies -Add Z until surviving on your own requires copious amounts of skill. Optimize. Release alpha. Fine tune features. Add fluff Optimize Release beta End of cliff. For now.
  8. Franchi (DayZ)

    Sweet Idea for the DayZ

actually once we have vehicles in you can run a computer on a power inverter conected to the battery. I know what you are thinking, "But Franchi does that actually work?" Well my fellow survivors I can tell you from personal experience that it does in fact work you can power a desktop PC +monitor from the battery of a running car..

    Good Server epoch

Hi everyone this is a good epoch server 46.165.248.223:2802 Ai missions Auto refuel, repair More barracks Rules 1.don't destroy locked vehicles 2.don't destroy bases HAVE FUN!
  10. You may have been joking, but I actually agree with you on this. It would be an ideal way of moving along the coast quickly and relatively quietly. Of course, it would be risky in the sense that you're bound to the tracks could easily be ambushed. It should be operable with one man, but faster with two - encouraging team work/co-operation. For me: 1) Vehicles / Transportation 2) Base building / persistent storage 3) More guns, clothing and items In addition to the usual bug fixes, optimization etc.
  11. Target uk i can agree with that depending where u are more zombies, Kukui yes i agree i would hope with stuff added there would be bug fixes with every patch. Kipale come on dude walking for a half hour - 45 minutes across the map is what makes the game fun....."cough" we get to experence every tree....every grain of sand...every flower...............and by the end of it all..u mite need a new keyboard or w key. deathtax i hope they had more then 1 type of berry..maybe the ability of finding pine cones also..or making maple syrup...and the ability to throw it at people...or make a very berry pie...when they finnally add cooking(pumpkin pie, berry pie, meat pie, yum) monolith 1985 remain hopeful cars mite be as dangerous as stairs... Caboose187 for game intergity absolutly without such there be only degradation of the community.. omgwtfbbq i Definitly agree hordes would be cool but not like l4d but more like walking dead where there is random pack traveling across the map.. TheWizard14 i understand its in alpha but we as a community i beleive need to give the proper feedback while being devloped to make this is amazing game..i dont want of us to end up having real heart attacks being like ohhh i wish i said this.. AnarchyBrownies i cann agree this can make more people troll and get god complexs and could ruin the game for some people.. but if implimented the right way it could be cool. , DMentMan motorbikes and bikes would be cool....dont you like walking for 30-45 mins? , McGarnagle ABSOLUTLY TEDDY BEARS!!!! but seriously...night vision teddy bears.. , Va3V1ctis i like where ur going with this..but why not a train itself...operated by players or automated with no npc or with npc , Rancor binoculars would be cool but with differant stuff( heat vision, night vision, etc) i just wanted to respond to everyone, ty all for your input on this healthy general discussion about things we enjoy and would like to see and the order in which we would like to be implimented. night vision cooking animals guns/ammo types vehicles hordes(packs) temperture new citys/buildings/ caves traps buildables. (all combines with bug updates)
  12. I have to say so far I am impressed with what I see so far. I just came from a game created by the most horrid company EVER. EA that company can take their games and go shove it where the sun don't shine. I'll NEVER EVER buy another game from EA again. I played the "Pay-to-win" game of theirs for 4 yrs "Battlefield Heroes" and they are the most laziest, rude, greedy, incompetent company EVER! I don't know why I stayed with them for so long. I guess I had hopes they would change. Silly me even after they got new management witch was worse than the old I got sick and tired of them. They crap on their own community and when you go on their forums to discuss a flaw in the game your attacked by all the brown nosing child like punks. Ugh! it was aweful and I'm glad I was introduced to this game. I played other games as well were content and updates were few and far between. This game here though seems to be on top of things as far as a Alpha goes. My only complaint would be the template of the website/forums. It's a little non-user friendly and I don't like getting my news from Twitter feeds either. The black background makes it hard to read font's in some cases this is why I did mine in red. I've been reading posts all about the forums and the community really seems friendly for the most part. As far as the game goes I love this game and think it's great. Can't wait to see what new content will be implemented in the future but hopefully not to far in the future. The running around on foot all the time kinda sux. a bicycle would be nice all though I hear of vehicles and other rumors as well. The clan I am in CWar= Combined Warfare we play this game we also use TS3. If anyone would like to join us on our TS3=TeamSpeak 3 please hit me with a PM on here or feel free to add me as a friend on Steam my username is CWar_Gochief thx for reading this.

    Boat Trailers

Exactly, it can be used to transport small aircraft or helicopters under a camo net or something to make it less visible, I think there will be a lot of possibilities with this function if they decide to develop it with the vehicles.
  14. badbliksem

    Boat Trailers

As I said in the previous post. It is an idea when the vehicles arrive ;)

    Boat Trailers

i like the idea, but there is not even vehicles yet.
  16. I think persistent storage is an important addition to the game. It seems reasonable to believe that it will all be server side, so you could have player-created structures and stash areas on multiple servers. All that sounds great. I feel like the thing that needs to be worked is the value of surviving. They need to implement a skill system or something similar to really make surviving an important element. Skills that become learn-able with experience from completing tasks like bandaging/healing other characters, building structures, repairing vehicles, killing zombies and murdering other survivors. For example, healing/reviving other players could go towards skills that might reduce the time it takes to perform bandaging / defibing / giving an IV/transfusion.. Killing zombies might give experience usable to increase melee damage/speed. I feel like a skill set unique to each survivor that are losable upon death would really add depth to the game. Having killed a lot of other survivors might then unlock the ability to cannibalize, idk.. I just feel like there needs to be more incentive to actually survive.

    Boat Trailers

And as for the comment by Dethsupport. Having vehicles is enough, we had that in Dayz Epoch and I know there was a towing script aswell. Just thinking of ways we can make more use of vehicles when they arrive.
  18. badbliksem

    Boat Trailers

True we don't have vehicles yet, but something to think about when they are developing the vehicles. I just think it might open up new possibilities in the future. Like I said, I just think it's better than leaving your boat in the open water.

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

I see what your saying dethsupport that's why I think most of the air vehicles should be one to two seater ultralights. Their slow and easy to work on, also easy to damage.
  21. dethsupport

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

Agreed. Things can always change. I just think if they add them they are destroyed and you simply can't fix them, but small pieces may be scavenged for lesser vehicles. Actually they almost have to be destroyed or inoperable, who in their right mind would stay in the land of the infected when there is a perfectly good working chopper they can attempt to escape with? Most would rather give it a shot and die trying to fly it than to stay and die to the infected. And lets face it, how many of you actually have the knowledge and skill set to macgyver a helicopter into working condition (probably limited to a few military air wingers or civilian craft mechs) with improvised/severely limited tools (you're gonna fix a chopper with a just screwdriver, hammer, pliers and a hacksaw?). This isn't Ironman, you're not building or repairing a complex piece of machinery in the middle of nowhere with a box of scrap. It is also unrealistic to think you have access to tools necessary to operate/repair a (most likely damaged) fueling line and transport the aviation fuel, what are you gonna do? Use a jerry can and expect the hunk of scrap to magically be able to fly just because it has a drop of fuel? Air travel will heavily skew the pace of the game as you are able to bypass all the terrain and move and high speeds. This game needs to remain slow and meticulous, the 10% adrenaline and fear cocktail you experience when shit hits the fan wouldn't be nearly as intense or interesting if it wasn't counterbalanced by the other 90% of the time that is slow and quiet.

    Having vehicles isn't enough?
  24. badbliksem

    Boat Trailers

Hi I thought it would actualy be cool if you are able to attach a trailer to your pickup truck, be able to reverse it halfway into the water and be able to put your boat onto this trailer. Why you ask ???? Let's say you love boats and have a well covered base and want to hide your boat at your base/camp rather than leaving it in the water. Offcourse only small boats should be able to fit on the trailer and trailers can only be attached to pickup trucks or limited vehicles such as trucks aswell.
  25. sinkatze

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

I agree that would be amazing. The cars that you find in the wreckage on roadblocks, should be repairable, depending on where you find they would be different types of damaged state. The vehicles you mention will be in the game. But I don't think choppers have that much of an advantage as you think. For a helicopter it is a task to land anywhere, there is so much threat for choppers from other players you wont even believe it. Plus you can hear them from a Km away. There are also chopper hunters, they basically track down choppers to take them out. So I don't think having more people on the server at the time will even make it more beneficial to have one. The "Getting snipe killed" feeling in DayZ also happens as helicopter pilots, and we just have more to lose. This is why I love choppers, they are a bit more of a challenge for the game than just camping people. Being a chopper owner gives it kind of an end game style for me. Yeah the removing parts should definitely be in the game, if you find another chopper you should be able to rip it apart. But you also need to find chopper loot in other locations, not just within choppers. Because if anyone just decides to strip a chopper and throw all the parts under a pinetree to hide them and no one ever finding them, would probably never be able to use one because there would be no parts lol. The mod already was like mention though.
