Admittedly it isn't nearly as balanced as the mod, but the mod worked due to exclusive loot as well as vehicles and camps. You could only get blood bags and epi-pens on the coast and you could only get the 1337 uber awesome guns/NVG's/Rangefinders in the 2 barracks and heli crashes, and then plenty of isolated areas on the outskirts. The number of supermarkets along the western belt also helped, since tents were always sought after. Now admittedly it is focused on the coast atm, but a few basic things my fix that. First of all simply getting military tents to spawn loot would shift the focus back to the NWAF and Starry. Then of course as they get new places added, and then hunting and camps and such. It'll even out, we're just waiting.

The only problem I have with mods is that we'll undoubtedly see "500 VEHICLES, 100 HELIS, START WITH M4A1, UNLIMITED CARRY SPACE" servers. However, the benefits of private hives and custom servers do (in my mind), outweigh that, as having custom games to play would be fun. -
No vehicles or camps in standalone, it's pretty much just an Elektro PVP game right now.

I agree with this ^. The game seemed to be solely based on survival and interactions with other people at the start. Now there's been talk of helicopters... I just don't see the use of helicopters in a map of this size. They would have to quadruple the size of the map to even begin to have it make sense. I'm fine with vehicles, but not choppers. I highly doubt the developers would agree with me, and, unfortunately, I foresee choppers of some sort in the game when it's released, but that's when I'll realize that I surely the miss these days of DayZ.

We will be doing admin missions today such as SUV races, Bell helicopter battles, team death match, king of the tower, and other stuff. In Chernarus there would be way more 7.62x54R than 7.62 NATO. Every Eastern Block general-purpose machine gun uses it. Many Soviet Block armoured vehicles include a PKT with thousands of rounds onboard. There is BILLIONS of 7.62x54R out there. In the homes of hunters and shooters, probably not as much. But overall... much more.

No need. Hunting, vehicles, and non-placeholder zombie spawning will address your concerns. The Mod already demonstrated this.

So whitelist should be allowed, because theres alot of empty servers anyway? :huh: I fail to see the reasoning in that argument. Everyone can still join an empty server, only a select few can join whitelisted, and if DayZRP is allowed to whitelist, everyone should be allowed to whitelist. Which basicly means, 50-80% of the entire server list will be whitelisted and used for either Roleplaying, what kichilron said or other things, that could impact the public HIVE in a negative way. Lets face it, RP is a small percentage of the reason people wants to whitelist a server mate, its such a small minority in the community, most just wants to gun'n'run it. Also, consider when they implement the "loot economy", whitelisted servers would be the only place rare items or rare vehicles will exist, because they are "hidden" in a controlled environment. This is why ALL public servers has to be open to EVERYONE at all times, to "even the playing field" and give every single person that bought the game, the same opportunities, whether they start playing now or in a year. Why is it such a big problem to wait for the implementation of private servers?? This is an alpha game! See what you made me do there, i didnt want to pull the alpha card, but i had to...

Yes ok, but this is in RL... In DayZ nobody would use such a truck for killing zombies... They drove over the zombies and shoot on the players from a far distance. And if there is a group of 4-6 player who defend the truck, you cant easily take it out. I know that many survivors would like to see armed vehicles, helis and maybe planes, but I think thats not the style of the game. It shouldnt be "Man vs. Machine", DayZ should be "Man vs. Man" because only then everybody have the same chance. But I think if the Team implement vehicles, they balance them the right way. I would love to see only a "few" dirtbikes, atvs, cars (like we have now as "destroyed models"), maybe UAZs and rubber rafts (with engine and/or panels). Maybe 10 working vehicles per server (40slots), but you have to search many many parts to use them. And of course they should add a technique to refuel the vehicles - like in the mod but more difficult. I dont know yet, lets see whats coming and how it works - then we will go on talking:-)

I have to ask with your apparent lack of exp on vehicles in this game, have you played the mod? I've played it almost from the beginning, cars were always rare, people hid them. And choppers were even rarer. I'm not even going to continue the chat about reading comprehension. -

What's to stop people from staying at the coast where pretty much everything they could want is? Just suggesting that parts of the map need to have specific items to encourage players to travel there, all of varying value; these could be kept in special locations that would justify their existence pretty much only there. EXAMPLES: Petrol Tankers-- for when vehicles are introduced, a pretty much endless source of siphonable fuel for players that can maybe even also be driven; hiding at Gvozdno, just coming into the map near Grozovoy Pass, and innawoods trails near Vyshnoye. Military Museum-Dubrovka: Ex-Soviet uniforms, shashka sabers, and mosin nagants/ammo hiding out here. This should be a nearly exclusive spawn point of the Soviet uniforms and shashkas, apart from the odd civilian home. Prison--Riot gear and possibly tasers, or some other kind of nonlethal device not found in the police stations. I know the prison's been announced, so I won't try and slap a place label on it, but if they put it in, say, Zelenogorsk then like I'm saying you'll see more players making up-map treks. Can Opener Factory at Krasnostav: Not really exclusive but a guaranteed place to find yourself a can opener. Pitchforks: Only at midmap farming country houses, such as Kabanino, Grishno, Stary Sobor etc. Suggestions of map-location-specifc loot welcome.

Ofc you had to bring up CoD... Anyway I'm not even demanding vehicles only because of the distances. It's about the feeling when you get your hands in a car or a chopper aswell and who doesn't like cars and choppers? :) -
Too North East / Coastal Focused?

Agreed, these areas of the map need more traffic but I think they'll come into their own with vehicles and particularly persistent storage. More players will be hiding stuff in the quieter areas of the map, bringing up those areas' appeal. So I'm not too worried about what the devs are doing. Leave the players to populate the inland areas once they have the tools. -
I appreciate that the over-Coastal focus of SA has been discussed many times before but I wanted to raise the issue of how the NE looks like it is receiving too much attention from the devs, instead of inland areas, especially atm with current patches. The issue of the coastal focus of the game has been raised a lot and we've been told that once vehicles come in then the map will be opened up much more. However, it still doesn't look like the devs take this seriously. Especially when we see that in the latest and upcoming updates we've had Chernaya-Polana and Karmanovka added to the NE, literally a stone's throw away from the airfield. Added with Svetlojarsk, this is really just shifting the focus of the game away from Cherno and Elektro (which is a good thing) but to just another coastal area. What is the point of the northern border of the map or central towns like the Sobors? There are either no people or no loot. In the mod the Sobors used to be serious hotspots but now there's literally no point when you've got so much stuff centralised around Berezino or Elektro. What do you guys think? Devs should be making some sweet military bases / kitted out towns in the central areas and maybe central-North?

Congrats in developing tunnel vision under the statement "server hopping" Server hopping is more than just looting dead servers. Any reason that a player feels the need to jump to another server from the one he is currently on is classified as server hopping. * Players can server hop on top of the industrial buildings in Cherno to kill 1 - 2 players and then move onto the next twenty servers, the same thing can be said about sniping from the apartments near balota airfield. * Players can server hop various industrial building to find parts for their vehicles, this works also with basic supplies and military areas. * Players can server hop random areas in the hopes to find players bases, this method of scouting a players base was quite common in the mod. Unless players actually started from the beach on a server and actually had to travel on foot to find a players base, without server hopping. I'd consider that a raid, but if players feel the need to invade other servers in order to obtain gear. It's just a pathetic example of server hopping. -

Another reason why the public hive is going to be useless. * What happens if you or your group fixes a vehicle on a specific server? You're more than likely going to stay on the specific server until rocket can make a feature to make vehicles teleport / transfer from server to server, of which will probably not happen. * What happens when you build tents on a specific server, you're dedicated to that specific server in storing your gear. What will people do to try to find your base / vehicles? * They will server hop, it's been done in the mod and it will be done again. - The only solution to this system is character bound servers. -
Not sure why they used western vehicle crashes when there were enough models of russian vehicles around..i mean if theee was a military intervention why didn't the russian army come? They are practically next door. And mobs only have those super modern P90, G36, AA12, AS50, M107 and whatever hip weapons in action movies...they also have a tight budget. Any surplus AK from the black market works as good and is like 100x cheaper...want a 50$ rifle that kills or do you need a 3000$ rifle to do the job?
