Hopefully, when we get some vehicles, this will be a reality :) Just imagine driving a bus (example) and crashing it against a wall at full speed. It blows up, slings the bodies of players around it and perhaps even spawns some "random loot" around it aswell, based on the kind of vehicle it is? I wont mind this being player created, but give us a little help aswell, like spawning abit of loot next to a crashed vehicle, in the trunk or spawning some dead bodies with random loot on them aswell. Its understandable the devs wants this to be player created, like everything else, but a little help from they're side would be appreciated hehe.

Do not make it so bikes/cars make sense to use off-road/off-trail
preacherlr replied to greasmonkey's topic in Suggestions
The speed thing you mentioned was in the mod, Guessing it will be in SA.. Some of the cars went around the same speed as you can spint when driven off road, and a bit fast on dirt roads.. However, the 4wd and ute style vehicles handled off road better, and could do around 30 kph off road, and 50 or so on a dirt road. -
Good idea. Car wrecks as well as makeshift roadblocks, wrecked military vehicles and such things.
-
I agree. When we get vehicles, you cant just go as fast as your car can go, because you would need to dodge those car wrecks.

Right now, Chernarus is a fine map, sure, but it lacks a plethora of unique areas. What do I mean by that? Currently, most towns in the game look the same, other then a few of the new ones. Same buildings, acceptable, same old battered cars, sure. You can't expect new buildings in each town, but you can expect one thing- Something unique or noticeable about that town. Something that makes it stick out and gives the player a reason for going there. I'm talking about some sort of unique remnant. Perhaps one or two towns have festival banners and abandoned, bloody floats in the middle of the street. The infected interrupted their celebration, leaving a nice, eery remnant for passing survivors to take in. Maybe have a carnival, or some sort of amusement park, or some sort of place that shows Chernarussians weren't dull, boring people who did nothing to entertain themselves? Perhaps a shooting range in rural areas, or a community center in others. These are all things that could be used multiple times, and would add some liveliness to the map, but there are some other things that could be done as well. Specific, unique, one-place only areas could be thrown around the map, like the car that's at the bottom of a cliff near NEAF. Perhaps have more car wreckages on the long roads between towns and cities. I know you fellows don't like adding military spawns, but how about alongside crashed heli's, we get randomized crashed military conveys on the road? They would spawn a few bits of gear, not as much as an airfield, but a bounty neverless. It would also reward exploration. Imagine being in the middle of the map and spotting an old military convey on the road. Though they are basically the same thing as a crashed heli's, the same basic idea, it would be a good thing to throw in, randomized loot spawn wise. You could also have more houses in the middle of the woods. Isolated cabins, surrounded by thick trees, making a perfect location for a base of operations for a survivor, and also adding to the woods. You could stumble upon a cabin, and a shed, along with an old rusted, wrecked pickup. The area could also be dirty, sort of hardened. Perhaps have the construction site of a humble log cabin somewhere in the woods, supplies all around, ready to be built? Of course, that construction was interrupted by the infection. To expand upon the shooting range, it could be a good place for survivors to flock to for a few reasons: 1. You can use it as it is intended, as a range. 2. You could possibly find ammunition, and perhaps a gun, though ammunition should be the primary thing to spawn. It could be a good place for CIVILIAN GUN spawns as well. To expand upon the addition of more common car wreckage between towns / cities on the roads and why it would add to the game: 1. When vehicles are added, it would force players to navigate around the wreckage and make offroad vehicles more valuable. 2. In the panic of an apocalypse, people are going to get into wrecks. 3. I know the devs love making stuff spawn in trunks, they now get another opportunity to do so. This is a bit of a ramble-style post, but I really want the map to be UNIQUE. Right now, a lot of the towns feel copy-paste, which was fine for Arma, but this is DayZ and as an apocalyptic title it needs to up its atmosphere.

I keep helping bambies out and getting sniped for it.. So now there is no more trust because people are just KOS and if they don't its a trap to snipe you. All there is for those People in this game right now is PVP.. They don't want to test and try new things they are just bored and want to kill people. Until there is bases and vehicles to pimp out, I will not trust anyone. I imagine everyone one else does the same.. except the people that just want to kill people.. The rest will just hide from you or try to avoid you. If you see someone your most likely getting shot.

DjToxicHD replied to prominentalex's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi, I am starting a new DayZ Taviana map using www.DayZ.St I don't have much experience with editing addons on DayZ, so I could use your help. I'll send you what I want. - Debug monitor: Server name: ToxicSurival Player name. Blood, kills, zombie kills, bandit kills, bandits alive, surviors alive, heroes alive. Uptime / Time until restart. Image of current weapon and vehicle. - Good AntiHack, Gotcha etc. - Snow, if it isn't all the time, but like rain. - Full moon at nights. - Travel in vehicle backs. (For example sitting in the back of a white pickup.) - Adding buildings in 3D editor. - Vehicle flip. - Salvage vehicle parts / remove vehicle parts. - Custom loading screen, I'll send you a picture. - Implement Soldier clothing. - Car radio. They have to do the physics first, or the vehicles will be even buggier. -

Maximum priority on the development of vehicles in Dayz?
Dchil replied to theprototypeOEZ's topic in Suggestions
The dev team have a known schedule and they are working to it (from what we can tell at the moment) and we don't want to have them fuck it up because a couple of people don't like walking so much. Has nobody thought for a second that vehicles would take a hell of a lot of time walking just to find one and get the parts to run it before they could use it to haul their lazy asses across the map via every petrol station in it? However reasons to explore the new map for the people who know it upside down and back to front already are important. New loot is important. If there is only one thing that everyone has focused on that we could do with out, Vehicles would be that thing. -
Maximum priority on the development of vehicles in Dayz?

Recently i haven't really been playing dayz (standalone) mainly because of the long journeys i have had to go on to get from eg. barenzino to electro (which is an hour long journey) i think it would be great if Bohemia start putting priority on vehicles instead of other things that we don't need eg. extra towns in the north. Thanks -

As-50_Thermal and MP5K [ Standalone ]
TheScruffyBandit replied to preacherlr's topic in General Discussion
Ideally an anti material rifle should be too prohibitively rare and fire ammo so rare that using it against players should be considered madness, saving it only for knocking out vehicles and such. However that won't happen in DayZ because with hackers, dupers and hoppers we'll always end up with people camped on hilltops with hundreds of rounds of 50cal shooting up everything they see. If they implement an anti-material rifle, I think the accuracy will have to be fairly poor compared to smaller caliber DMRs to balance it out. -
Dat hive economy. There will be 1,000 of these rifles in the loot tables tops. And the ammo will be impossible to find. Make it unshoulderable while wearing a backpack and you've got a very well balanced weapon. The fear of losing it will make players not use it unless absolutely necessary (vehicles). It will also keep them off of the coast. But before they implement the hive economy they need to address the duping epidemic

Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)
rigz replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
i understand this guy his frustration, i sure do ! (fact) I never played the mod, i did not even know the difference between the mod & the standalone a few weeks ago when i asked on steam about dayz to my friends (fact). after a couple of week dayz standalone play, yes i think this game can be big hopefully as big as the mod (baricades, nightvision googles, vehicles, repairing vehicles) and maybe even more but time will tell, i only had one update so far in dayz wich is the last one, but i hope vehicles will come soon and not just a vehicle but also maybe repair or steal ;) or something else in a side mission. I also hope other zombie games will come out and so there is more competition between developers so the costumer always wins. Dayz has all the time they need for developing new things/items, but if another game seems like more fun i will play that game. Dayz does not sets my time for having maximum fun when online gaming, they only set there gears for updates. Dayz is this state meaning gear up and interact with other players meaning killing or helping will get bored also the next weeks -
Right now there are three military airfields in DayZ, so why shouldn't we have a civilian airport? This would contain mostly residential/civilian items there maybe some weapons and ammunition at airport security. For realism this airport would have a lot of baggage items such as backpacks and protector cases. I think this airport should have some crashed/downed air vehicles (for scenery) maybe some shops before and after airport security. For the location, I would say somewhere not at the coast but not too close to the other airfields. Below is a suggestion for where it could be.

Well they stuck around electro in the mod until the 24/7 1000 vehicles and starting weapons + 10,0000 barracks servers came online then they all went there. The thing is, this game has never had a decent enough zombie threat to make them anything more than an annoyance. In the mod you just ran full sprint and it was easy. In the SA they need to make the zombies a challenge. If they get it right it could make the game what we actually have been waiting for. You can add in building and all these other things to do but ultimately it's the zed threat that will make or break the game.

Are you looking for a decent group to play with? Well you have come to the right place, Paradox is looking for players who like to play tactically in DayZ. Paradox is a group who is friendly most of the time and will try to help out other players if the situation is right. But we also like to play as bandits from now to then... What we do? We are a bandit/hero group, depending on the player but we do try to help players, but not any old player only the ones we thinks right. If there is a clan we deem hostile on the server we are on we will try our best to eliminate them, we have various plans for wiping out an enemy organization and will not stop untill done so. RULES -No hacking -No Backstabbing -No trolling members or friendlies -No secrets -offer what you can to the clan/group -Act Appropriately to situations be smart -Must have 1 week of experience at least -You always need a gun so we will get one for you -Vehicles should only be drove by people that know what their doing RANKS General Colonel Captain Sergeant Major Sergeant Corporal Specialist Private Recruit ROLES ASSAULTER - Carries heavy weaponry such as M16s or LMGs. This player leads the team in combat and must have above average PVP skills. MEDIC - A medic carries most of the medical supplies, food, and drinks. They will stay a bit behind the team with an average weapon such as an M1014 or AK. SCOUT - A scout is a lightly armed player who is the first to move in on a looting run. They will inform the squad of valuable gear, zombies, and players. This is a hard position because you could be the first to die but you will be greatly respected. ENGINEER - This player is the medic of vehicles. They are in charge of carrying things such as Jerry Cans, Wheels, Rotor assemblies etc. They will carry average weaponry but will have the largest backpacks. SPOTTER - This player will carry heavy weaponry and will guard and spot for the sniper. They will stay back with the sniper spotting zombies/players for the squad. They will also be the first to receive a map, binoculars, and a rangefinder. This position is also a navigator for the team. SNIPER - This is a pretty obvious role... This player will be the first to receive camouflage clothing and any rifles. This player will carry advanced weaponry such as M14s, DMRs, and M107. You must have precise aim and have no lag. The sniper will stay back with the spotter eliminating threats. APPLICATION Age: Location: Timezone: IGN: IRL name: Current gear: Preferred Role: Ethics (your beliefs on killing and looting etc): ADMIN STEAM INFO: chrisrogers1998

Imagine if chenarus had a living personality: let me explain
doublebrain replied to powderdtoastman's topic in Suggestions
Trust me Im not playing the wrong game. But if you realy want this NPC like stuff its maybe the wrong game for you. I know many people want kind of quests or other events givn by the game but the core idea was a game without all that. By the way when vehicles and bases are in there is enough reason to go around the map and do stuff. -
Agreed 100% Useful both before and after vehicles are introduced! Repack after use? Yes! Multiple uses (not just for para)? Yes Used as a backpack if emptied instead? Yes! This is a brilliant idea
