  1. Hello there I dont want to see hollywood fireballs like we have at the moment. Ive been in and witnessed many crashes, not one flame was seen. Im sure that one of the rationales for the advent of vehicles taking so long would be to improve them from A2/mod. Lets wait and see. Rgds LoK
  2. Im pretty sure vehicles will be squishy and easily take damage from rounds. Like something in arma 2 /wasteland, you can disable vehicles by shooting tires or the engine block. or spray the driver with automatic gunfire.( shit was fun) but i can see the SA vehicles being a complete pain in the ass to maintain and i can also see them taking damage pretty easily(or certain parts always needing to be replaced). If you run into something or get lit up. I think most of the physics are getting worked out since its seems like a new thingy they have been working on(like throwing ect), so id expect it to be awhile before it gets polished. They got a lot on their plate so we just need to be patient with things. I dont see them being bullet proof unless you can add armor plates to them, but im thinking that might be more of a mod thing eventually(with armor). Idk if they had talked about being able to add armor plates to cars, if so then that should stop bullets. But i think either way in a car your more at risk to getting pwnt, since you can hear them coming from a distance and cars will and always will be bullet magnets
  3. Not sure if it was the case with vanilla but with ACE II mod you could penetrate the sides of M113s and other light armoured vehicles with 50 cals and kill those inside, if modders could do it to Arma 2 2 I don't see how it couldn't be done with DayZ

    Hmmm don't you think changing major physics aspects like that would be counter intuitive while trying to swap for a new renderer and engine ? :0 although it's not the best time for stuff like that in alpha , I hardly think that they would leave vehicles and glass windows invincible for the 1.0 release , that's a huge thing that they can make strides on from the mod and if I remember correctly theyre switching the engine/renderer to break free of the engine limitations of the rv engine or whatever it was called so im assuming (very boldly) that well have stuff like this at least for the 1.0 release :) !

    DayZ moving to new engine - ENFUSION

    Im sorry to tell you, that you have misunderstood the information given :) We already have Enfusion, we have had it from the very beginning and that is what they have spend most of they're time on, so far. We have recieved a decend amount of content already, but alot of stuff have been done "under the hood", on the newly forming engine. The whole purpose of making DayZ Standalone, was to overcome the limitation of the Real Virtuality engine, which the mod was based on. So they took bits a pieces from the RV engine, both from Arma II, Take On Helicopters and i heard abit from Arma III aswell, and slapped it together, into a giant mess basicly hehe. From this "mess", they started creating the game we are playing. First came the "network bubble", before release, then came interior in the houses we could not enter from Arma II and so on and so on. So basicly you are already playing on the Enfusion Engine, its being created as we speak, and have been from the very beginning. The reason they mentioned a "new engine", is because the end result will be a looooong distance from the original RV concept, most people are familiar with theese days. This is the reason we dont have vehicles, advanced mechanics (such as proper animal/zombie AI and pathfinding or vehicles) and some other stuff, that might have already been in the RV engine. They want to create most of it, from scratch, to serve a very different purpose, then the engine was ever ment to do :) So in essence, we only have an empty shell right now, Bohemia needs to stuff it full of goodies. I hope this sheds some light on the case for you mate.

    Will There Ever be "Epoch" for Standalone?

    Yes I would like epoch to stay FAR AWAY from standalone please :) ... Standalone is a completely different idea than epoch ... It's like this , dayz standalone is what would really happen if only a few thousand people could survive a Zombie virus , the natural dangers of the world would become even more dangerous , people wouldn't trust each other although there are still groups working together, there is NO AI besides zombies and animals, this is the realistic view of the end of days and more so enjoyable for a video game (in my opinion) ... but Epoch , epoch is more like the retarded cousin of the realistic apocalypse : everything went to shit yet everyone is still acting as though nothing happened with invincible safe zones accommodating large groups of clans playing the trader merchant role who's true intention is to find every damn vehicle on the map and sell it at a high price to the Ai merchants so no one new to the game can find one lol ... Epoch , having played the original and the new arma 3 epoch , is no where near the experience dayz sa is at ... Even the KOS is worse seeing as you can't tell people to raise their hands and you can't even restrain people as far as I know , and Believe it or not those two things really help eliminate KOS for the people who are merciful and end up getting the jump on another .. Overall I can't wait for standalone to have vehicles and work out the kinks of the loot respawning and zombies , because that's all this game needs to be the best seeing as like many have said already , the mods like epoch and breaking point are incredibly Buggy (with less intention to be fixed seeing as they are based off of an engine they can't screw with and fix , unlike dayz standalone) and very clunky in terms of controls (inventory controls too military based you can't even choose your outfit head to toe you have to find premade ones) and on top of that your character feels too swift in epoch , it's like you aren't carrying any weight and your guy is Rambo lol , just lots of little things add up to an unrealistic and non - immersive anti- survival setting that at the end of the day , is ONLY fun if you have Friends playing with you and have the off chance of finding one of the 65 vehicles on the map that's roughly 4 times bigger than chernarus !
  8. Like the title says, FIX THE ZOMBIES BEFORE ADDING NEW CONTENT! I'm really sick of the developers talking about adding this and adding that, when not even the most important aspect of the game is fixed. A few examples: -Zombies NOT aiming at you and hitting the air 3 meters away from you, you suddenly get hit 3 times and start bleeding. -Crawling Zombies jumping towards you = you get hit, but if you dodge out of the way, they just magically rubberband back to your character (and very often behind you). Another thing I notifced is the faulty perception of the zombies. Sometimes you can walk (not sneak) towards a zombie without him noticing you, but then sometimes you have a melee fight with a zombie and suddenly there are zombies running from god knows how far away towards you even though they were not even in anyway looking at you or anything. So please DayZ developers, focus and the problems with the zombies befor you talk about adding vehicles and other complex things into the game!

    DayZ + Spintires?

    Even if they just looked at this for inspiration it would be awesome....not sure how hard it would be to get the terrain to behave like that in this engine....im guessing HARD lol. But even just something similar, much more basic ability to get bogged down offroad and such....anything to make vehicles more realistic im all for! Race 07! pffft..... dig out GTR2 and do some real racing :D

    Dayz Tents and Items?

    1. Tents persist even when you aren't on, so make sure you have a good spot. 2. Items not in tents, stashes, or vehicles are deleted on server resets. As a side note, I would recommend making a stash instead of a tent. It is much easier to find the materials for than finding an actual tent and much harder to spot. Find a shovel and a sandbag and you are good to go. From there all you need is wood and then eventually nails to make your own hidden hole in the ground that can hold like 15 weapons and nearly a hundrend items. You could even just pack/unpack your tent and put it inside your stash once you have one; a tent is good to have for when you get sick as using the "rest" option has a chance (not sure how much) of curing you.

    Dayz SA to be a failure

    Hello everyone, Over the past few months, I have been closely watching twitter updates, devblogs and just stuff about standalone posted by rocket in general. Rocket has the idea that everyone is into scarce starting loadouts and low vehicle spawn rates, which I have nothing against, BUT, this also means there will be no private hive dayz servers which I am extremely unhappy about. If this is to happen, I probably will not buy SA and stick with the mod - where it all started. I am quiet honestly confused with rocket's decisions as they will impact the future of his career. Because if he messes Dayz Standalone up, who is going to actually want to be in associated with him? Yeah - give him a chance, but this game is highly anticipated and if OP does not deliver, all hell goes loose. This will probably get deleted, but I am entitled to make my own suggestion about how standalone should run. Yeah - standalone will be good, but will it rise above the mod? Or will it turn into a lame warz like game. Rocket, if you read this on MT Everest, please understand that by not appealing to more "Casual" users, you are missing out on a big audience which will make dayz the game of the year. Edit: Please excuse me if you thought I was the kind of guy that likes starting with a mp5sd with steak and walking around corners finding vehicles, no. I like having barely any vehicles on my server, and higher zombie spawn rates. What I don't like is going on to public servers and having fuckhead scream on side channel and just camp spawn, which will still be a issue in SA. Trust me, the first thing you will hear when you first logon to standalone, is prebs shouting the their microphones and camping spawns... This will always be a issue, unless rules are put in place, and since their will be no private hives at first, we will have to deal with prebs. That's why disable side channel and have teamspeak so I can monitor it much easier. Dayz would be nothing without custom maps, on youtube over 50% of videos are taken on custom maps, so are live streams, and rocket has already said that community made maps will not be avaible as they can open holes to hackers, but isn't battleeye and VAC getting upgraded and put in? Regardless, I see his concerns, but it's just another reason for no private hive servers, done deal. Thanks for reading, Josh
  18. I love that the new UI is shaping up! I actually really like the Horizontal UI. Maybe its because I haven't played DayZ long enough to really get set in my ways? I think it looks a lot more intuitive and useful, especially since you can click and drag different containers into a different order. Gah, I'm so looking forward to vehicles.

    Endless running - stamina/fatigue?

    Its not - tomatoes growing faster has something to do with the format - its still a game after all. I would still like to see them taking much longer - maybe a day or two. Running speed on the other side has immediate effects: people will sprint straight for "better" locationspeople will sprint to their corpse/tentpeople are much harder to hit even without using coverzombies have to be Usain Bolts as well (otherwise you could run away all day long)I think its not the vehicles but rather the loot economy (including server hopping fix) and same other survival elements (especially in the wilderness survival area) that are required for the running speed to be scaled down. Because vehicles won't be something the majority of the players would have so while increasing the maximum speed the average speed would not change that much. Now a lower average speed would probably help the gameplay: the map appears biggermore players "on the road" instead of "on location"wilderness (suirvival) becomes more importanthigher difficulty level for getting to good locations or finding dynamic locationsmeeting up with friends is a much greater rewarddeath has more impact (making it harder to get back together, reaching your stash etc.)things like hunger/thirst/cold don't need to be as pronounced to have an impactzombie speed can be toned down without making them trivial to handleits more immersive as less people would sprint around at full speedwith people easier to hit cover/concealment is more important and combat becomes more "natural"small villages in the middle of nowhere have a much greater use...Though this would require you to actually have something to do - right now the environment is low threat, you can finish "early game" in your spawn city and its perfectly possible to have everything you ever need after visiting your second city - reducing the rest of your travel to mindless running. And because thats true for most other players as well you will not even encounter many of them until you reach your destination.

    Endless running - stamina/fatigue?

    It is no more ridiculous than us being able to grow tomatoes, that normally take several month to grow, in less then ten minutes... The only stupid here, are those who are unable to grasp how mind numbing running hours at realistic speed is for most. Hence why we should wait for vehicles and balance accordingly, if vehicles are indeed extremely rare, then no changes should be made.

    I would be ALL for something like this if we had vehicles and vehicles were not super rare. Imo full on sprint should have a limit. regular jog no limit. Really only save your precious sprint to avoid bullets or zombies, not a form of transportation.
