    Health by movement

    since we have so many status effects now, Besides adding limping movement when your leg is broken, your walking and running gait should be changed with corrosponding levels of illness, starvation, dehydration. This will help eliminate status messages and make it more immersive and realistic. If you are red sickness, starving or dying of thirst, you should have a near shambling walk similar to the zombies and only be able to jog for a few seconds. If you're in the yellow your posture and run cycle should be slower than green or what we have now, Other players should be able to determine this from a distance by how fast you can move and your body posture animation. I think this will help not just with immersion, but also as vehicles are introduced. We really need a tired walking animation and status effects like blurred vision and increased weap sway when you're starving or sick that will finally lead to vomiting/unconsciousness. This can also be used with getting shot as blood loss would trigger the same staggering walk animation, meaning that if you just got shot by a 45 or 7.62 you can't just sprint away, hide and rebandage. You would limp or stagger away and probably get killed

Hello People ;) I would like to invite you all to join the Zombies Unite DayZ Epoch Server, after some recent issues that are now fully resolved, we are looking for some new players to re-populate/liven up our dayz server. We aren't huge fans of advertising, but thought it may do our community good. We currently have One Server up and running with many features and additions, without spoiling the purpose of DayZ ( No 10000 vehicles, No JETS etc.) We have had other map/mod servers in the past but these were closed due to lack of interest from players. Our main server has been up and running for almost 2 years however! Our servers are both PVP AND PVE orientated! So you will find a mix of Heroes, Bandits, Raiders and very rarely....the assholes. Our admin team will gladly help resolve any issues regarding rule breakers, glitchers, cheaters, exploiters etc. We run our Epoch Server and Teamspeak on a fully dedicated machine with a fast connection, 2 Raid 0 SSD'S, 32Gb's of DDR3 RAM and a beast CPU. All this along with many optimizations will hopefully keep server performance maximized. Our dedicated machine is located in France, EU. However we have nothing against people from all over the damn place joining. Our admin team is mainly UK/US based. Server 1 Features: DayZ Epoch Chernarus, EU/UK Hosted. Server running for over 1 and a half years!     Framework For Lore - Discussion

    Awesome! I actually think that this is a very likely scenario in the Chernarus lore. Honestly I'd like to see more military involvement in the region ingame, such as blown up convoys and checkpoints outside of major towns/cities. What about crashed fighter jets? Some sort of makeshift encampment in the woods, with a camo net and a few logs holding it up? IED blasts next to wrecked vehicles? Shot up checkpoints? Those are some things I'd actually like to see in game. If you were to come across, say, a shot up convoy, you'd think, "What happened here?"

    Drag Dead Bodys

    Last I checked this was already coming for unconscious people. I'm not too sure about dead people though. But yeah I can see that being helpful for cannibals. What would make it even better is if you could put dead people inside vehicles. The cannibals could kill a guy, stuff him in a car, and drive him to the cannibals base where they all have a nice cookout.

  7. Now that 0.50 has rolled out to stable branch, the focus of the team shifts to the incremental roll out of 0.51 for November’s monthly stable branch update. As with any monthly stable branch update, this comes with several new features, functional changes to existing systems, and its own unique collection of bugs and general game play issues. Those who encounter any frustrating blockers to their gameplay experience on either stable or experimental branch are encouraged to utilize the DayZ feedback tracker at feedback.dayzgame.com. Looking towards the 0.51 update and the Christmas break, in addition to the obvious feature and functional goals - Server side performance is paramount. Addressing critical issues and blockers in releasing 0.50 on schedule has resulted in reduced server performance and with our end of year feature/functional goals coming up the programming team is focused on ensuring a smooth and solid server side frame rate. Experimental/Unstable servers will be used to profile and test 0.51’s performance throughout the month, so if you are looking to participate in this stress testing - make sure to opt into Experimental branch! On experimental branch this week we’ve pushed out several new security related hotfixes, as well as pushing BattlEye’s upcoming changes. As always with security, working in tandem with our external partners (BattlEye and VAC) as well as observing exploits and behavior on experimental and stable branch servers allow us to iterate, and address via experimental > stable branch update paths. It is important again to understand that during the Early Access Alpha period of DayZ’s development vulnerabilities will be introduced as the engine and systems surrounding it are created. Addressing these vulnerabilities and iterating via the experimental > stable branch update path is a constant tug of war. Through utilizing the DayZ feedback tracker to properly report valid information and issues encountered surrounding these areas, we can more quickly “patch the holes” This Friday (the 14th) we had the first of our “dev play sessions” on experimental branch and the footage captured during this stream will be edited and commentated over in next weeks “dev experimental branch discussion” video to be released in next weeks Status Report.     Well, ArmA 3 introduced firing from inside vehicles, so I can't imagine DayZ SA not bringing it in. So just find a V3S, duct tape a thousand cans of baked beans to it, and fire your AKM out the window. It'll be pretty much the same thing, right?

    This issue already has a tried-and-tested solution from the mod: once you're survival-kitted, go into the forest and search for tents. It'll be much easier once vehicles are working - helicopters especially - but I can't count the number of times I've stumbled into someone's camp in the middle of nowhere and found myself suddenly a rich man.
  12. My idea is the devs write a similar script to this to allow us to drag, and load large crates (that we could fill with supplies). It could also be used for larger items like generators, drag it to the car, load it, unload at destination style. This mod for Arma 2 does exactly this, and its really handy when operating in and around Chernarus... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb7oM6lYNyU&feature=player_embedded (ignore the heli lift part as I don't think wel see those type of heli in dayz) I think this could really push the value of vehicles up and add some more depth to the system beyond just repair. In the above mod you can shoot while dragging (but not aim properly), if the devs could get it working so we could maybe just use a pistol while dragging (and apply that to body dragging aswell) would also help with depth and immersion:)

    that might be your style, but it's a multiplayer game and different people have different play styles. I too like being quiet and discrete. But having vehicles, including noisy motorized ones, will start to open up the list of ways to find/interact with other players. Finding the parts, fixing, manually refueling vehicles...makes teamwork more beneficial. Vehicles getting hidden in the forests, offers reason for others to explore the full map (instead of running between cities with W key held down by a paperweight). Setting up ambushes on vehicles. Tracking vehicles on foot after hearing one in the distance. Hearing people approach in a vehicle whilst looting somewhere quiet, wondering how many people are in it, do I hide/run/try to take it out or steal it? Thinking twice about running in open areas (e.g. plains near Putoshka/Vybor), since vehicles can chase you down if caught in the open.

    In case tanks were to be added (they are not needed but I think they might fit if done in the right way) they should come with all of their natural disadvantages. Which means a tank in DayZ would less be a "battlemachine of your enemies doom" and more a "big piece of metal you need to work a full year to get going, needs a full crew to operate, goes for two kilometers before running out of fuel and can approximately fire three times before it gets destroyed". Everything beyond the very basic vehicles should be a logistical nightmare to get and maintain - scale it up and we can even fit a tank into the survival gameplay (more as a possibility than anything else).

    I don't like the idea of tanks, and dislike the idea more if there is no way to defend yourself from them; tank traps, IEDs, trenches, etc. I'm not even sure I like the idea of there being that many vehicles, although I realise how useful they are. Any updates on the bikes, yet?

No OP and useless weapons: NO cheytacs, NO MSR, NO automatic DMR rifles, NO ACR, NO machine guns which shoot M240 mag in 6 seconds, NO 1000000x different versions of AK or hk416/7 No OP and buggy vehicles NO sports car, offroad 90-100? come on! We chose out of MANY guns only those few which are nice, balanced and fit DAYZ climat Out of 500 weapons, we added around 15 pistols , 10 sniper rifles and 30 assault rifles, so you wont have to worry about strange magazines, which option to take, or just too long list of weapons.   21. I get where you're coming from, but guns, blood, and vehicles are three different things. Yes, they're all pretty "Hardcore", but they can still be done simply. Blood types, it's literally a matter of finding compatible blood (Just like finding a compatible optic for your gun). Repairing vehicles, you don't see us going into every single nut and bolt of the thing, and I don't think the devs intend that. And do you know why? Because that's taking it just too far.

    Standalone to mod? Sell it to me.

    I've not tried the stand alone DayZ yet myself, but I did grab up Arma 2 for like 7.99 I think or basically 8 bucks on Steams Halloween sale for the sole purpose of trying the mod because like you I am not really into military first person shooters. That being said however I will say I do not regret spending my 8 bucks. It was an 8 bucks well spent. Now here are the problems I have ran into personally. I have found for me connecting to servers takes more time then I care to deal with. One server with Dallas in the name of it for Vanilla DayZ I was banned not even having been logged in it for 5 minutes. I barely took 2 steps before that happened. The others I manage to connect to seem fine just trying to find a way to increase my latency for a better connection. About 90% of the servers I see have bad lantency and are unconnectable to me. The other 10% is a challenge. More of a hit and miss sorta thing. I am playing version 1.8.2 even though there is a 1.8.3 out I am not sure what I need or where I should even go to download that. The links I found I am not sure how much of the crap I need just to play so waiting for either Steam or DayZ launcher to upodate and then just download it threw them. That being said I am not seeing that many servers out for it anyway. Actually I not seen any at all. Also now this is one thing I like which alot of players may not, but I like it for the learning value is there is a single player mod you can get at this link which if your new totally it is good to have so your not logging on to servers and being a complete and total noob. http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/RELEASE-DayZ-X-1-8-0-3-Update-0-1-17-02-2014-td3034.html I found this mod very helpful being a new player trying to learn the game on my own. Now my reason for going with the mod first before the SA was simly this logic. The SA was created based off the popularity and success of this mod. I wanted to see what the orginal was like first so I could know what to expect from the SA as it developes along. Downside to the mod version of DayZ is this one fact to me. Compared to the SA which I understand is about ball park of 6 gigs of hard drive space. The Arma2 DayZ plus the DayZ mod along with all the other mods from the DayZ launcher is I think probably going to be about 40 to 50 gigs of hard drive space. This is a guess as I have not finished downloading them all yet myself, but if your like me you will download all of the ones offered in the launcher simply because you will want the ability to join any servers you see listed without being told you do not have the files to join them. That being said if you don't mind the headaches and the use of disk space then you should be good to go. You do and will get that mmo world feel when playing the game. That's one of the things that has impressed me and as I said I also am not into military first person shooters, but Arma 2 has won me over for the sole fact the maps in this game compared to any other FPS I played are without a doubt the largest I personally have ever seen. You have vehicles and all kinds of stuff in the game. Really all it lacks on DayZ side is a mission system sorta like what you would see in a game like State of Decay, but not everyone wants or desires that aspect. It is solely player based which I do love that aspect about it. So whatever direction you take is and will be solely made up of your own will and choosing. There is no game direction other then what your pixel feet take you towards. I say try it. At times it's a pain the behind, but honestly well worth 8 bucks and your time devoted to it. Just know the game does have it's issues like any other game and I'd imagine it'd be easier to find and get connected to SA servers then mod ones at this time. Atleast for me anyway. Grab it up when it's on sale if you do. Hope my assement helps you out some. Hope you enjoy it if you play it. Best of luck to ya mate. :)
