    I would support locking players out of a server they've just died in for a limited time - say, 2+ hours. That way, you would need to respawn in a different server if you wanted to continue playing in that session. In the new server, you wouldn't know the whereabouts of specific loot, nor of current players/firefights, so it would be more like starting your life again than if you could re-spawn in the same server. If you get knocked out of a gunfight, you should not be able to rejoin it as a "new life" a few minutes later, in my opinion. If you're playing with a group, they could join the new server you're in to help you regear, but you would only be able to leave persistent loot in one server. If, after the lock-out, your camp/stash is still where you left it, then good luck for you - if not, tough shit. Perhaps your group would guard it for you until you got back, but it would be substantially longer (and more annoying/boring for them) than it is now or than it would be after the introduction of vehicles. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the best I can think off of the top of my head. It would be slightly irritating if you owned a server to be locked out of it, but it would only be for a limited time - to prevent you from immediately regearing - and you could return to it later.

    One thing to remember is camps can have big downsides. They can be wiped out while you are at the market collecting food for them. The culprits can lie in wait to ambush you afterwards, if it was a big camp, you basically just created a monster on the server that you now have to hunt down if you want your stuff back. You may kill them on a loot run and retrieve your beloved betty van, or see your old heli flying off map and follow the bearing. Persistent storage/vehicles and factions fighting over them is dayz endgame at its best imo :)

    Things like weight, etc. will come, 100%. Hunting is in the game, too, even though there is no real use for it, since food can be found commonly... :) there are things in the game, which don't have a clear purpose (yet). The raft wouldn't have one either. But once weight, bases and vehicles are implemented, it will has a clear role to fullfill.

    Let's be reasonable about this - I like the 'gun people' - so forget insults or invective, let's not all shout, and I'm sorry this is long: Chris Torchia said, quote : "those of us who are real gun nuts" - so he's classing himself as a gun nut. Obviously he is not against 'gun nuts', he is one. He shares gun nut interests. He is also a game designer. OK let's put those two things together : In DayZ SA there are a number of important game elements. These have been discussed, been implemented, or are being worked on.. etc. They include ... movement (swimming, climbing, running, stealth), stamina, weather, hunting, fishing, cooking, foraging, medication, illness, infection, injury, temperature, shelter, crafting, concealment, camps, vehicles, repairs, maintenance (clothes, equipment, transport), zombies, melee, loot, respawn, map features ... And that's not all of them. But all of these are vital to the way the game plays and how 'hardcore' it is and how 'realistic' it is. We can agree on that. None of these elements has been given (so far) the time and detail and attention and focus and weight that has been given to guns. So the 'gun nuts' are doing very well at the moment, in alpha - and after all, the only reason to have a wide range of guns is for pvp. There is no reason we NEED automatic weapons or advanced sights of ANY kind, in a zombie survival game. One solution to 'gun realism' - (which I am not suggesting) - is to take OUT all the automatic weapons, all the sights except iron sights, and leave the gun nuts with the remaining weapons as they stand in the game now, this would not harm pvp and would not harm 'survival', Then there would be no argument about calibres and the Devs could concentrate on the MANY other important features which are being developed and refined. If all the other features mentioned were brought up to the current level of realism of 'guns', this would be an in-depth fascinating hardcore game. The gun nuts (bless them) seem blind to the other elements of the game, they want massive gun realism, and many varieties of guns, so they can play at pvp (no one wants a big complicated collection of modern realistic military weapons to shoot goats, I guess ?) Chris Torchia is a 'gun nut' (he says) but he is not blind to the other elements of the game. This is his job. The gun nuts have plenty of stuff to keep them happy (and to complain about) already. Why should development concentrate on their (very small minority) absolute-reality fanaticism about guns, instead of bringing ALL the REST of the SURVIVAL game up to the same level that 'guns' has already reached ? I think there must be as many medical people playing SA as real gun experts - ask them about needle calibres. They will explain that a syringe and needle used to inject antibiotics is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from a needle used to take a litre of blood. The two needles are not interchangeable. However at the moment they are not shouting about it, and are not putting up long strings of photos of medical equipment. Even though (of course) health is a lot more important than weaponry in any REALISTIC survival game. So gun people - we all understand your concerns and your great love of accurate gun simulation (we all like 'realistic' gunfire properties in the game) but EVERYBODY KNOWS (including yourselves) that a shitload of guns is not the key to an excellent zombie survival game, it is only interesting to elite pvp gamers. (I mean Leet, dudes) You have forgotten, maybe, that in the Mod, there were long arguments about the magazines for the AK74 and the Sa58, because in real life they are NOT interchangeable, but for better gameplay they could be exchanged in the game. But - be honest - how many of you really stopped playing because of that ? Are you still here ? You complained a lot, and you ran around with engine blocks in your backpacks complaining that the magazines were unrealistic, but you didn't stop playing. So please don't look back to the 'golden age' of the mod where everything was 'realism' (except the truck engine in your pocket) and complain that SA is being simplified for the "mass" and the 'pvp kids'. It is not. You yourselves are simply "gun nut pvp kids" - and I have nothing against you for being that, you want a "realistic" military fantasy. That's cool. But recognise that you already have plenty of good stuff to play with, don't insult all the other players, and understand that there are MANY areas of the game that should be brought up to speed and refined, before you get your special chocolate cake with icing. Don't have a tantrum about it. Making SA into a Leet military fantasy for a small minority of players would REALLY be the thin edge of the wedge. Chris Torchia IS a gun nut, ask him about the practical aspects of REALISTIC PLAYABILITY because PLAYABLE REALITY is his trade. xx pilgrim [ note: in the mod we ALL ran around with engine blocks in our packs, so don't take that as an insult or a gibe.     If zombies were easy to kill then Chernarus wouldn't have gotten into the state that it's in. xD Vehicles will be added later in development, but they will not be common. They will be pretty rare and you will have to spend a long time gathering the parts to repair and maintain them, and they may be stolen by other players.

    I love DayZ A lot. I have had it for around a month and a half and I have played over 150 hours. This game is great if you have patience. After being shot over 30 times I feel this game is a running/dying/getting murdered simulator -__- . Zombies are OP as hell -__- Even with excelent tactics people get injured easily sometimes. Bleeding chance= around 80 percent probably. Maybe even more. Zombies are suppose to be high quantity + not that strong. Not 8-15 shot kill with the best melee in the game -__- ... People go on about "Hit them in the head blah blah blah" Do I look like I have a damn aimbot? How do I take on 5 zombies and hit them in the head while bleeding and having to be spammed with "You are wet" "you are bleeding" "You have anal pain" Like damn give me a break. Do you want to type to your friend? How bout we send a few new spawning zombies towards you ^.^ Play the game your self and see how it is. Bandits are part of the game and I got taken hostage for the first time instead of shot. Gee I wounder why people KOS new spawns so much.. Probablly because of the fear that they will get fisted in their face and die in 3 damn hits when they are fully geared. Are you respawning after getting brutally murdered by a newspawn who didint have anything to lose by throwing himself at you and whacking a way? GOOD. Heres a racist spawn for your black guy in the middle of a field? Or how bout you get spawned in the midle of nowhere. Did a zombie just chase you into the police station? Good luck cause if u dont have a gun u gonna have to take him outside and get swarmed cause of not being able to hit him inside and it hitting a wall instead. Also I know server juming is bad but really -__- is it that big of a deal that you have to have long spawn times? Cause if I join a server and just walked past the damn sahara dessert id be pretty pissed to find the police station fully looted. Its not like someone can get really OP. Like the worst that can happen is they get ammo for their damn gun to defend themselves against the 500000 zombies after them. I know the story with adding vehicles. You want to wait so you can take your time to make them perfect. How about you introduce something a bit more simple while we wait like a bike or motorcycle. Something to prevent me from having to walk 50 miles for some good loot. -__- Imagine walking all the way to balota after dying (because its the only closes good enough airfield from most spawns). Gonna be one ass walk for just a gun and ammo and maybe an ammo box if you are lucky. I love DayZ a lot still and I dont think its a bad game. Heres just a few things to do to make it better -Make zombies less OP - Lower the bleeding rates - add a bike or something fast - add better spawns - fix the staircase glitch cause ive lost more people to staircases than actually getting shot. not even falling down them -__- just walking down. - hail hydra

On Grumpyworld we have 2 Prisons, 1 Goldmine, several new cities dozens of forts and bases. Roving AI Bandits in Vehicles, on foot and Heli with parachute drops. Extra missions and many options for Custom Loadouts, Building Supplies and much much more We lean towards military style with plenty of high end weapons and armored stuff. PVP welcome Stay Frosty NPC are not the stand around type. Tips to killing AI: *Always utilize cover, never stay out in the open. This allows you to pick and choose your targets instead of scrambling to take out targets who've got you in their sights. *Be aware, they will try to flank you, it's the only tactic they know of. This also applies to zeds/zombies/walkers/biters/etc; While they should be your secondary concern while engaging AI, you need to make sure that you either keep switching to different cover or be sure to thin the number of them before they become overwhelming. *Never try to peak out of cover to shoot an AI who's already aiming towards you, always try to fire on them as they're moving or not aiming at you. This is assumed that you are in cover and aren't in immediate danger. *Don't panic-bandage, you've got enough blood to last you and trying to bandage while they're moving in will land you closer to death. *Always double-tap your targets, AI have a tendency to get knocked-out just as much as normal players and they will get back up to shoot you in the face if you don't confirm they're dead. (Headshots aren't always fatal to them.) *Don't get greedy, wait until after all of the AI bandits have been eliminated, or else you might get caught in the loot menu while that one guy with a makarov decides to walk up and unload the clip into your silly little head. *This last tip may be one of the most important and crucial, so remember it well; Keep your distance from AI, the farther you are the higher your survival chance as most of them don't carry long-range weaponry.     This was a major issue with the mod. People would make tents near the coast just to gear up upon respawn. There's no easy solution except by taking it to extremes. My idea was when a player picks a public server, he has to stick with it till death. Once he dies, he respawns on a different server. That way there will be no vehicles or tents to actually go back to. It'd probably be a lot of fun and actually add meaning to dying, but I doubt the devs would ever agree, as they don't get paid to swim in the communities tears.

Yeah, I got two things out of what Rocket said with regard to helicopter crashes - that it's (obviously) a WIP and that they seem to be interesting in relative randomization of helicopter crashes in the long term. As to the East-West dynamic they've got going on. Sure, I like that. Although, I'd prefer more incentive to be mobile overall... vice a linear progression. But, in order to accomplish that effectively, several things need to happen. 1. They need to diversify the spawns on the east coast, going from above Svetlojarsk to Tulga/Krutoy Cap. I get why we're spawning around Berezino now (to test the east-west axis where they're adding new cities). But it can't remain indefinitely. 2. The bigger cities need to be made less attractive, or, less viable for loot. Right now, you can get everything you need from a city. In the mod, you could only get everything you needed to head north. There is no distinct "high-end" for loot anymore, it's all basic stuff that's been added... which can be found in a city without much fuss. 3. The wilderness in the west, if they're going this route, STILL needs to be expanded. I'm telling you. Come the time when persistent storage and construction arrives, people are going to have a tough time keeping their stuff safe. A far tougher time than in the mod, regardless of how small the individual stashes are. Not only has the wilderness been cut in half from the mod (with the northern addition of new cities and restructuring), the wilderness that's LEFT up there won't be as effective for storage if we're moving from east to west (vice south-north). 4. The loot bias, still, needs to be moved off of the coast. I'm fine with Cherno/Elektro/Berezino/Svetlo remaining deathmatches, but there needs to be incentive to leave those deathmatches eventually. I want players to be more mobile overall. 5. As I said above, circumstantial mobility is key to me. I'd much rather have this, than the linear progression across the map that's described above. However, it could work in conjunction with this. The survival mechanics, an increased need for food/water (away from traditional loot spawns), and vehicles will provide for this to a degree. 6. If they're going to make Balota a southern NWAF analog, it needs to be made into a better location. I was always pretty unimpressed with Balota as a location, it's pretty boring. It needs more ancillary buildings and the tarmac needs something... perhaps more vehicle wrecks and the like. EDIT - 7. The running speed needs to be brought back down to mod levels. The journey that they're holding up as so central to the experience is no longer so. It's just a speedy jaunt to get where you're going. It effectively reduces the size of the map relative to the player.

  18. What, they need more money? They e sold over two million copies each at 30 Au a pop thats over 60 million dollars AU, plus i have quite a few friends waiting till barious milestones to play eg vehicles, fixed zombies, release, base building or bananas in holsters.
  19. This is not a hate thread, purely a question to the DayZ masses. I feel the need to point this out at the start as perhaps this thread could be seen as a hater thread. It's not, I love the game for all it's flaws, and done so since the early(ish) days of the mod. Now onto the question... How long will it be before we see non-free DLC's being offered for DayZ? And if/when they appear what will they do for the community in terms of affecting the balance of the game. I am not discussing free DLCs, as they will be by implication available to all, just the paid for DLCs. The premise... DayZ got a lot uptake at the start of it's alpha, more so than anyone expected. This leaves BI with a bit of a 'jam today' situation in terms of revenue. I fully expect them to deliver in regard to taking the game to Beta and hopefully Final, however where do they make their future money? Game sales will naturally increase as the game gets more feature rich and more stable, but what about all those players who have paid a relatively low price (in comparison to other games) for what will soon be quite a heavily developed title. The easiest way? Monetise those who have already paid for the base game by offering DLCs. Why is it likely... Looking at the progression of Arma3 it holds some parallels to DayZ. Both open world FPS games that were developed by the same company, started out as an Alpha and both are sold primarily through Steam (which allows for easy DLC selling). In fact, have a look at this: Arma 3 DLC Bundle and it will show that BI is not against offering paid for DLCs and ones that offer quite a significant addition to the game. If that sets a precedence then it seems almost inevitable that BI will offer pay for DLCs. The problem... So what would a DLC offer? New clothing? New weapons? Always starting spawn with a baseline of certain loot? Looking at that link in the previous paragraph the things offered could be seriously game changing; better weapons, better vehicles (obviously vehicles in general would need to be implemented first). The core issue here is the balance of the game. I am not inherently against DLCs, per se, so long as they don't alter that, but there is the rub - I don't think that you can. The minute you offer people the choice to pay money to gain an advantage you will ruin the balance. Granted it's unlikely those who are fairly decent in the game are going to pay for content they can loot for but then that relies on the content offered by a DLC being available without DLC. It also opens up the situation where BI may restrict those without the bought DLC from using the content offered by it. For example, offering a vehicle that you cannot enter unless you have paid to do so. So there we have it, to summarise the question; when will we see paid for DLCs, if ever, and what will they mean for the game in general. TL;DR? DLCs - will they happen, and if they do will it fuck up the in game balance. (edited: to amend the poll a little to offer a n/a option in the second vote)

    Oops yeah 74, used to typing 47 :lol: Exactly as the bold says, zombies are so easy to deal with that you wouldn't need to blow them up anyway, so people would more often than not just save them to use on people because they're not needed for anything else. Except maybe vehicles, if someone had some armour plating over the windshield a grenade launcher would be good then. I wouldn't mind a grenade launcher if there was like literally one grenade in a random location in each server so that having a grip is more viable. Or perhaps since they're adding fog soon they could just add launchable smoke grenades that are more common, maybe even tear gas the former would be excellent for creating some cover at an airfield so you can get in one of the buildings away from any snipers.. That would make it an awesome piece of kit but not overpower it (direct hit by any grenade from close range should do serious damage of course)
  21. Hey guys, I have decided to pair with a few close friends of mine to start a server. I have a lot of admin experience and my friends are very skilled coders. We have started up a 20 slot server (no hate) to test and if it has a decent amount of players on then we shall obviously greatly upgrade the player slots. The server is now ready to go and we already have many helpful scripts running including Self Bloodbag / Auto Refuel/Rearm/Repair / AI Missions / Supply Drops / Dance around the camp fire / Remove Clothes From Bodies / Trader Safezones and Anti-Stealing / Lift & Tow / Animated Helicrashes / Custom Starting Gear / Custom Loading Screen / Snap Build/ Spawn in Parachuting / Trader Vehicles Parachute Spawn. These are a few of our many scripts as well as, obviously, Anti-Hack. The server does not lag a single bit due to very high specs and it is a dedicated server. Other features include over 600 fully working vehicles, indestructible bases, plot poles are not needed to build a base, very active admins (ie. almost always on) and as a bonus, the first 50 people to join will be given building supplies, a standard SUV and two briefcases of gold to get them started on their way. I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but after my experience there I had to say something. It is without a doubt a staff or pay to win server. As a mod and part of the staff of this server, and being a part of “staff meetings” I learned that admins and mods where cheating by teleporting loot from missions to the trader, healing their own vehicles, healing themselves, spawning in build crates, special items, vehicles, helicopters, ammo, and jets .... among many other things. Then they would use it to attack weaker clans. The owner would even allow someone to pay him (one briefcase) to bomb their base with his spawned in unlimited ammo bomber jet. When the rival clan retaliated the admins would just spawn in everything they lost and would do it again. I saw many players & clans come and go from the server during my time as staff. When I spoke out I was removed from Mod status, but I still played the server for a little time. Realghost is the current server owner. The reason why he created a server was because he got kicked as an admin from his former server. http://www.enjincraft.com/profile/4953309/posts They have an over expensive store where a jet costs $50 for the rubies to buy it! How can you compete when the admins can just spawn them in? This server is controlled by two clans, one run by the owner and one run by two admins. Realghost even threatened people on the server that if they attacked a particular donor who paid $90 for build crates that he would teleport them to him, and rain down fire until they quit”. Even though the server had indestructible bases, it was focus on base raiding, PvP based, and the people attacking didn't know he was a donor. This server is created by cheaters, who use admin tools to legally do it. If you want to waste your money, your time, and effort building something, all to have it destroyed if you kill an admin in the field, put up a fight, or stand out against cheating this isn’t the server for you, unless you have a stuffed wallet or you’re an admin.

    but i do know that you made this post not for me to say that but for help on base sites. i personally have been using a house outside of cherno theres a house and a small barn (not the ones that offer loot but the ones with one door and one floor) with a roof to keep fires out of the rain. its close enough to cherno and belota for loot runs and if you do happen to get killed its not much of a run back to the area. heres the location on the map http://prntscr.com/3ojlte put your tent in the small barn (nobody should stop in there even if they pass such a place since there is no loot at all that spawns anywhere there) but id advise you to hid vehicles in the woods nearby so you dont attract attention from helis, or people passing on foot (why someone would run by there i dont know but better safe than sorry) theres some rings of pine trees perfect for hiding vehicles.

  25. try this new server 69.39.239.138:3085 very basic. most powerful vehicles are the vodnik/humvee avilable at bandit/hero camps. the few admins on here are also resonpnsible and only intervene in cases of exploiting or loss to glitches. none of the spawning crap tons of junk for doners nonsence :)
