Looking for a DARK NIGHT server pref military.

So many baby servers out there tending to the people without skill. Is there any out there anymore with pitch black nights, and maybe some military vehicles. So sick of every server just catering to the mass i don't know how to play guys. 90 percent of the player base anymore has no idea what a chemlight or flare is for. -

Anyone Remember World Containers?

Collecting apples, woms, twigs, berries stones grass, chicken feathers etc works exactly the same way as loot containers ...so do tents vehicles, backbacks, fishtraps and rabbit snares.. so what"s the problem with having for example a rubbish skip as a loot container for empty pet bottles and rotten food ...by looking at it you would get a context menue saying "do you want to dig in the garbage?" then pressing F would start animation and sound ( same way as apple picking) ..after a while you probably get this message "you have found something"...look in your inventory ...voila some rotten kiwis and a damaged empty pet bottle.... Some other examples...ammo and weapon crates in miltary bases...or the lockers in the barracks could have a chance of spawning uniforms ...etc etc..the possibilities are endless... This does not mean that there is no loot lying on tables, under beds or simply on the floor....it would make looting just more interesting and also would save a lot of server performance.... As far as it goes for Fallout and The Elder Scrolls...Rocket statet more than one time that they are taking a lot of inspiration from this games.... ;) -
exactly the same as snooker, unfortunately red is not as common as it could be so it can take a while to build up a decent break but it's doable. really annoying having to let a couple of blacks and pinks pass by while waiting for an elusive red to come along lol. Be a bit more interesting when more vehicles are introduced, they will definitely count so here's hoping we see red hatchbacks.

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?

I saw this comment by a dev on reddit, replying to people complaining about the plans to have the vehicles use manual transmission and i thought it was relevant here: "We are promoting player skills, if you want to drive that vehicle you need to know how to operate it. Doesn't matter at all if it takes some time to get used to it." This is a good sign in regards to their design vision, hopefully they'll apply the same way of thinking to the shooting mechanics. -
They already exist with persistence to a degree- But if you want to hide things in refrigerators or shelves that would be neat, I imagine as cars and other vehicles get fleshed out it will be implemented. basically if you can find a box that is a world container with persistence now

This is already in the official list of vehicles, it is not confirmed but it is voted in favor of. The search tool, and official lists, are your friends. I understand you might be new to the forums but please use the tools and lists you are given before you just make a "new" suggestion.

You Pretty Much Have To Try This Server...

I have been playing on a server for almost 6 months now called "Hostile-Forces Gaming." It is arguably the best Overpoch server I've ever played on. The only thing it's missing, is a good player count. Only getting 10 players daily, we need some new people! What it offers: -Gold Coins System (Similar To CCG) -Organized Traders (W/ God Mode) -Hero and Bandit Traders -BTRs at Superhero Trader -Tons of new missions including Mayors Mansion and Bandit/Hero Bases -Buildsnap 2.0 for making bases more aligned -Active and friendly admins -Player menu w/ Color filters, Turn Grass On/Off, view distance, etc. -Build Bikes -Tons of vehicles And so much more. At least try it out, I'm sure you will all love it a lot. -
Jumping back in after six months... what do I NEED to know?

WB philly Well... Vehicles!...guess that's why ya back lol, keep in mind the aren't persistent and only 3 per server. Persistence has arrived with 2 tent styles, it causes an issue with loot spawning apparently, gets wiped every Wednesday, but you can keep your gear if you pack it up before maintenance. Canabalism....you can now eat people but beware....you will get a brain illness that causes you to laugh or cry every now and then. Less chance of getting it ifyou cook the meat. Theres a rangefinder.....so that's nice A few new guns and locations (I wont spoil locations for ya) but we got a cz something rifle, ak's, AUG. Tonnes of new items. Can now grow stuff but I haven't tried that yet, fishing and hunting is in....maybe that was in before ya left though. Oh and if you find a lockpick you can now lock doors and gates. If you find a locked door youcan bash at it with melee or shoot it to open it. That's about all off the top of my head, theres a lot more, il let everyone else fill in the blanks :) -
im just waiting for vehicles and proper barricading and other basics like in the mod to be added.

Its called a melee weapon, silent and deadly ;) Yes people will kill over a vehicle.....but they kill for gear or just laughs atm. At least the vehicles distract them for a while so they aren't just KoSing. That's what its all about we need festures....things to do besides shootng....vehicles is a big step forward for that IMO.

Because if players had silencers, they could play stealth mode and sneak around dropping zombies and surviving as a lone wolf without 20 KOS Call of Duty kids hearing their location. Whereas by adding vehicles into the game instead of fixing silencers, we have free for all crazy deathmatches for getting to the vehicles and then the vehicles are giant targets that draw in KOS players and just take mindless shots at the vehicles all day. I'm surprised I'm the only one that thinks this way.

Hello and welcome to the Forum, the reason it says "best experience" is because you get higher texture quality along with it for characters and vehicles, depending on the DLC you're buying. Please fix zombies so they don't clip through doors, kill you from underground, or just plainly bug out and take zero damage. (or just remove them till you do) I stopped playing dayz a year ago because of these problems.. also bugs like instantly fall off ladder soon as you go to top and die... unable to pick up items from bodies.. unable to load ammo, (all pristine and right caliber) wanted to play again and hoped these problems would be fixed.....NOPE! But at least we have vehicles and new weapons!... for love of god please fix what you got before adding more stuff.

Listen, don't get me wrong. I am not looking to internet argue so I will keep it civil. My frustration is that my fear that the team could not pull it off is coming true in my opinion. Love for them to prove me wrong. I will address your points below - new renderer <-- From what I have seen this is simply borrowed from Arma3 - new animations system <--- Again, what did this solve exactly or improve on what Arma3 already has. I would like some examples - new player controller <---- When they made this change people were not happy. Not sure the improvement. Mouse smoothing? - new AI system including new sensors and navmesh <--- The zombie AI continues to be a trainwreck. I fully appreciate the challenge of this, but nothing new for most game companies and with the money they are making no excuses - new netcode <--- Again, I do not see any increased stability of this over the netcode of the mod or Arma3 which is nothing great. Huge desync issues persist. - new client/server connection and communication system <--- Ahh the MMO decision. Show me the benefit. There certainly may be one and maybe it cannot be realized until the finished game - switching from content based on scripts to content using engine functions <--- Has this significantly reduced the hacking issues? - new system for loot respawn and distribution <--- Nice, but nothing that improved over the mod system. Again, full benefit may not be realized until finished game. - new physics system <---- Hit detection is still a nightmare so what did this solve? - vehicles coded from scratch using Bullet SDK <---- Since vehicles were just added I will give you this one - new User Interface <--- This interface is HEAVILY borrowed from Arma3 which I have no problem with, but framework obviously already existed. - new player model + customization functionality <---- Again, nothing different than Arma3 - new weather and seasons system that impacts players and items <---- Weather system is nice. Impacting gear is interesting but nothing more ground breaking than the mod coders have accomplished. - new sound engine <---- Need to see proof and impact of this system. Again, not looking to fight, but these guys OWN THE CODE, and I don't see what forward progress has been made. BI has collected millions from this Alpha so I expected the game to be much further along. 100% willing to eat crow...or beans. -
Just stopping in to state that I have been enjoying the gameplay lately. With the addition of the v3s and items (such as duct tape) becoming more useful for survival, it is all coming together. I was one who has in the past complained about development speed, but the underlying tech that is starting to seep out (lockpicking, doors sounds, horticulture, and vehicles) is really helping me enjoy the game. Personally the biggest improvements that are coming up are: Real Persistence: i.e. Tents that don't despawn on wednesdays. Barricading: i.e. Boarding up stuff, securing fences around structures Increased Farming And of course true base building. It's an exciting time for DayZ and while the next month will undoubtedly be slow (holidays) I am looking forward to 2015. Oh and the upcoming rendering changes... :lol:

Not the best analogy - if he didn't want it transformed he wouldn't be allowing it at all. Not that I disagree with you, I honestly wouldn't lose sleep if there were no modding no more than I would lose sleep if I knew we'd have mods like Epoch and Overwatch coming some day. However, Rocket himself has shown support for the bigger, more popular mods ala those, and we've never really had the devs address what "limited" means. For all we know, they could just mean for the beta stage they won't be allowing as much/advanced modding in order to prevent issues such as hacking or exploiting the game files, rather than arbitrary limits like "you can't increase the spawn rate of loot to X number or have X amount of vehicles on the map." -

Agreed. The player trader has configured his base to be not only be a trade post, but also as a service point for vehicles. This means that if a player wants to take advantage of that feature indefinitely, they'd have to consider the sanction of said service should any trade go sour. And as many of the weapons are still within the loot tables albeit very rare, they will demand a higher price and keen interest from other players looking to survive by any means necessary. Many of us want to help, but if you're crossed then it's less likely in the future. This dynamic affects the chance of survival of even the best survivalist and I'd hope that it may keep players from looting each other as the common goal is to simply survive rather than to gather wealth. But that is the nature of DayZ; whilst the consequences are considered, a player is free to make their own decisions regarding their mode of interaction, hostile or otherwise. -
I had no idea the character can run 1000m in a minute. Why the need for vehicles then? It would only slow you down! Walking at 5mph for 800m will kill the game. Period. Never said the whole map. But I would like to be able to hit a town or two within an hour or so. Also, remaining on the coast is stupid. I book it inland ASAP. If you want to be forced to walk everywhere by the game, then walk everywhere right now as the game is. Tell me about all the super awesome fun you're having!

AUG uses all M4 mags. So it's pretty easy to find mags for it. Lately I would recomend running the NW route due to so many people currently farming the Green Mountain/Zelenogorsk routes so even on servers with 2-3 people you can still see familar names and other people near them or lurking around and you might be an easy target. My luck has been paid off doing the NW run lately and it's a good way to pick up 1-2 protector cases/jackets every run. I would also suggest not logging off in Green Mountain Tower, since that's the most common way people do it right now and that's an easy way getting yourself killed. Of course it's easy to detect the american choppers from there but the russians for Smersh Vests isn't worth it imo. I only use 2-3 servers usually to farm them and that seems to be a pretty fast way. I have yet not used any vehicles for this, sure it makes it faster but I prefer to play it safe, keep a low profile to not get killed, due all the precious cargo I'm wearing right now. Several Smersh vests, all the attatchments etc.

NEW OVERPOCH SERVER . Based in the UK but set to GMT-6 so the 9-5ers like me can get home late and still see some daylight in game :P . Friendly server, PVP allowed , Mature admins (that's me) and plans to add more slots as user base increases. It's quiet right now, but that's because we need you :P SERVER: 109.70.148.10, Port: 2300 The features on the server are: - AI Missions (Most Wanted in cities, ike and a few others)- Spawn Selection with Skin selection .- Snap Build Pro (REALLY AWESOME)- Prefab bases (they're perfect for clans)- Deployable Vehicles (Bicycle, Mozzi, etc)- Sell from Vehicle / BackPack (time saver)- Auto Refuel/Repair/Ammo (FREE)- All Overpoch Weapons and Vehicles (Sooooo much to choose from)- Pook (Bell) Helicopters- Custom map editions (Lots of new military bases and the likes)- Heli Crashes and treasure hunts (my kid loves the treasure hunt)- Special admin events (hello) -
I don't agree with you about reducing the number of slots on the jerry can. It should be a bid sacrifice dragging a jerry can around. Inventory space must suffer big time. Though i do agree they could add smaller tanks, but they would of course carry less fuel. But this should not be a big issue anyway in the future. I guess they will add function to refuel our vehicles directly from the gas station. If we can use a gas pump to fill up our jerry cans, there is only logical that you could use the same gas pump to fill up our vehicles. Also i expect the inventory space in a big truck like the VS3 can carry a jerry can.. That goes for smaller vehicles like cars as well. So when that is in place there will be no need to carry around a jerry can in you backpack.

TehAlmightyFlapjac, I had a really really similar idea to yours and there´s only one thing I´d like to add to it... Remenber the part of the rails and stuff? Well, actually make possible to players build or repair minecarts (armored like we have in metro, but of course slightly different or non armored ones; with a motor or maybe powered by an hidraulic system where u´re the "key" to make it roll), trains (maybe not because trains are really ****ing big), and actually making possible to players to repair the rails, so they could travel in them without any problems (after they´ve repaired the rails of course). Adding specific lights to the (lets call them) "rail vehicles" would be intelligent, though the lights couldn´t be somethin too exagerating (only one direction, maybe really bright so u could like "blind" other players if they are in ur path, but not bright enough to see everything nicely if u know what I meen :P), I think thats it... Oh and (when buldin stuff in the map will be an option), mining tunnels in specific areas would be nice, like expanding the tunnels, making ur base underground where probably not many would adventure themselves (of course u would need to put torches or somethin like that in order to built ur base properly)... So this last idea of mine would like expand the element of surprise, u will never know what will,would,and happens in the tunnels until u go there! NOTE:I´m not trying to say that the tunnels should be bright or somethin (in fact dark as hell would be awesome), just sain that there should be kinda "lil´ bigger" light emitter than ur damn flashlight! Still the underground system would be kinda of hard work for de devolopers because (like somebody already said) they would need to raise the map or somethin... (Sry for my bad english still improvin it)
