    DayZ in 2021

    The problem is the community.... Already on console, players should be happy to have a game like this. Then the PVP players are a cancer for the evolution of the game because they only use 3% of what the game offers but represents too large a part of the community to not be taken into account.... And then the cars, yes it's boring, but the maps are not that big and good players will tend to use their legs (1 hour to cross Chernarus from south to north) .... The game has to stabilise, that's for sure, but it also has to evolve because if the developers don't add weapons, the players will cry and if they don't add a new vehicle with its new colour the "jacky tuning" will cry.... The roadmap is clearly not detailed and certainly not to make promises in the air. On closer inspection there are some very nice things announced in more or less explicit ways.... (I pray for the configurable radiations...) What is really regrettable is that there is no new map announced, that the spear and the bow is still not in the pipes (at least not officially), the same for cannabis and cigarettes or even animal skin clothing, dyeing clothes and making recipes (by the way that you can't really eat lard without vomit would be the idea of the century because nobody eats that in real life...). And to be able to build on slopes again, because we had some very annoying regressions on the building sites... and even to be able to make different walls! (Less wide, higher,) To be able to make a wardrobe in which to put clothes with objects in it so that you can change clothes without having to waltz around with objects.... In short, the problem is the community, and then sony also breaks the balls by preventing the less stable but more regular updates that would certainly allow developers to improve the console porting and to take into account more easily the players' feedback (when you see what some players say, it could be the death of the game in some ways)... Let's not forget that Dayz is a sandbox, those who want an ultra-stable game with lots of weapons and also lots of weapons or vehicles there are plenty of games for that and somewhere you've got the wrong game.

    @Kyiara Your report, while appreciated, lacks any information regarding vehicle stability. The game has come a long way, but one of the major problems that remains and, quite frankly, that you folks have not communicated very well about, are the vehicles. Are you still working on stabilizing them? Are there plans to switch them to being client side instead of server side? Are they already as good as they're ever going to get? Some idea as to what the plans are with vehicles going forward would be nice to know.

    There is no need for such an animation..the way vehicles function in the game right now, they should consider adding ejection seats and para animations instead.

    Assortment of Additions

    An assortment of what I believe to be much needed additions. Please feel free to add on. Vehicle Covers: Using either tarps or camo netting, we should be able to cover up our cars when we're not using them. Digital GPS: An electronic GPS that shows a topographical map complete with city names, custom waypoints, your position, and any other GPS synced with a 6 digit code. Broadcast Tower (Building): A player built radio tower that can be used to broadcast a repeating message across the map. Built similar to a flagpole but with new material specifically for the Broadcast Tower and a Field Radio at its base for selecting the channel you broadcast on. Gives the Handheld transceiver and Field Radio use again. The further from the signal the less clear the broadcast comes through. Improvised Explosives: An assortment of new components that can be used to craft a few Improvised explosives. Typically less effective than grenades and much heavier. IR Laser Designator: A laser that can only be seen while using NVG. Can either be handheld or mounted anywhere a Universal Flashlight can. Use it to communicate with teammates or intimidate enemies. Tire Spikes: Found in police stations, a rolled up bundle of tire spikes that can be placed as a defense or for ambushing vehicles. Ruins tires of vehicles that roll over it. Defibrillator & Adrenaline Shot: A players only chance of overcoming death, when used quickly enough another player can use the defibrillator to try to bring you back. It isnt a guarantee but it provides a chance. Using an adrenaline shot during the defibrillator process increases chances of success. Player will have short period to bandage wounds and replenish blood or the will die for good. Doesnt work on headshot-killed players. Spotlight & Chainlink Fence: A placeable spotlight that when hooked to a generator, provides a powerful beam of light that can be aimed in specific directions. Rolled up chainlink fencing can be found in industrial areas. Chainlink fences come in 3 sizes for fence kits. Small (about half a wood wall), Medium (same as a wood wall), and Large (a wood wall and a half). Also a chainlink gate variant that opens from the middle. Much weaker to damage with a single grenade being enough but a car battery can be hooked to it to deal a small amount of damage to those who touch it. Bivy Tent: A very lightweight and small tent. A player cannot move inside it, they must interact with it to get inside. Laying inside of it players will be protected from rain and cold. When packed up it takes up relatively little space.

    Thanks for your input. I suppose its important to note that I play on console so mods aren't an option for myself and many others, these were things I was aware that there were mods for but was hoping to see in vanilla. (I would have mentioned helicopters/bycicles but they're suggested often and the state of vehicles is far from stable) now, I disagree with your statement regarding the GPS. While I would agree with complex electronics not working anymore, offline GPS' are surprisingly simple. Basically digital maps with instruments for detecting direction and speed (I use one while hunting frequently, they're rugged and very reliable. I have one that's 8 years old that I've dropped countless times, once off a small cliff on a hiking trail and another time into some Rapids I was crossing). I dont necessarily think itd break immersion anymore than using iZurvive or other 3rd party maps that everyone uses, which is my main complaint. As for the Broadcasting tower, I'm aware of Altar as well as the Broadcasting systems found in several towns but neither quite capture the concept I'm describing. Firstly, I want to record a message (perhaps to tell listeners they can contact you for help or to warn others to stay away) that will consistently repeat even when I'm not there and is hooked up to a generator for power. I want there to be reason to use my handheld transceiver again to communicate with other players. I've been playing for years and I dont think I've ever heard someone using one and I turn mine on often. As for how tall its be, you're right, it would have to be very tall to cover the map. Perhaps an elevation mechanic could be introduced that implements a players height/broadcasting towers height as a factor for effective range. Ex. A broadcasting tower built on top of a building or hill has further range than one built at sea level. As for your note on improvised explosives, ever since grenades became the main way to raid bases they're being hoarded by all the large groups in game. While I think the loot system should be revised considering hoarders and dupers, I think itd be great if we could craft our own explosives (maybe a gas canister + a makeshift fuse?) Lastly, I %100 agree that there are many important things that need to be addressed especially the massive amount of missing content. These were just things that I had been thinking of while stuck in a very, very long sniper situation and thought I'd suggest them and get some feedback. Thanks bud!

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2303483532 its few years after some "apocalypse"(virus etc..) so the only electronics which would work on a place like chernarus is something simple like generators, vehicles, lights, maybe some computer from the 90’s etc. and it would completly destroy the immersion/lore but there are some mods for that, for example https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2381686295 Altar radio tower(radio zenit) works like that, as for something "player built", it would need to be really large/built really high to work across whole map(lorewise) there was an option to make a grenade traps, unfortunately nearly 2,5 years after "release" we still dont have more then 75% of content we had back nothing wrong about that all of the other things - could work, but there are more important things the game needs before that tbh the most important thing the game needs is being actually finished, it’s nearly 2,5 years after release from early access and we are still missing 80% stuff/mechanics we already had or were promised, and the 20% we have is 50% broken

    @Booma5150Another way you could accomplish this is using a static event. So, in events.xml, copy the "AnimalWolf" event and call it "StaticWolf" and then in cfgeventspawns.xml, you would define the X/Z coordinates for that event wherever you want to spawn them (just set a = 1 for each spawn point). The only thing with this is, they would ALWAYS spawn there. The CE spawns them as if they are vehicles, but they will start to roam by themselves from their spawn points.

    2nd time a car glitch has gotten me killed.

    My point was that those of us that want to upgrade probably would have already done it had we been able to get our hands on one. Others may not be willing or able to afford the purchase just to play avoid some of these issues in DayZ. I wish I could find on as I've been trying since it released. Yeah, the bugs aren't going away but the performance issues are greatly improved or non-existent in some cases when running on the next gen consoles. I've watched a couple videos where the frame rate rarely fluctuates from 30FPS and when it does, it's negligible. It's what @etaab describes. Car issues for those that I watched had either improved or been essentially resolved. .....but I wouldn't make any guarantees at this point in that regard. Most of these issues have proven to be inconsistent among PS4 players as it is. Personally, I don't have nearly as many issues on PS4 with vehicles as my friends. I used to, but not anymore. ....driving in first person though. DayZ will be one of the first games I'll try out once I get my hands on a PS5.

    I'm new to all of this, but the #1 thing I've wanted to do was make some retextures of vehicles. I would like to do it with the vanilla cars, but I don't know how to do it. I can do clothing just fine but would anyone be willing to walk me through this, and how to go about doing it properly with permissions or whatever please?     What updates do you predict in the new year?

    Well it is almost certain we get the bow back, other weapons and car(s). However, what I wish is that they put some effort into adding the final bits of content that we still miss from 0.62 and before. We just miss a handful of weapons, animals and vehicles and some other content (notes, books etc.). it seems doable if they just put a bit more effort into this department. Just feels odd that we still miss the bow for example after more then two years of 0.63+. I mean, I enjoyed them giving cooking a big overhaul last year, adding the flagpole etc. but somewhere I just feel that they should now focus on getting the old stuff back in first. Especially weapons and animals. I simply cannot imagine that it will take that long to do if they just focus a bit on it. Looking at features, we only miss ragdolls as a major feature from the 0.62 era. However, I do not see it coming this year sadly. Nonetheless I do see them expanding on existing features this year. More crafting from animal hides and poisoning/infected wounds I think are first to come. Perhaps writing notes. Anyway lots of speculation. By the way, where is that roadmap? Perhaps on Tuesday with 1.11 release?

    I believe they should make use of the fact they have servers called "hardcore" and "regular". Currently the only difference is that in "hardcore" 1PP is forced and nights are dark. That's it. In Sumrak's own Namalsk there is a huge difference in survival difficulty and general gameplay loop (hardcore has no vehicles or basebuilding) between hardcore and regular, so maybe - just maybe - we will eventually see something like that in the vanilla game. Make "hardcore" truly hardcore with less high end weapons, ammo and food and keep regular in its current middle ground. The people who want it even more forgiving than that need to play modded.

    Need Help with Vehicle Spawning

    Do you actually want a total of 130 cars and trucks? Your cfgeventspawns.xml would have to have at least that many spawn points for that to work. Vehicles are pretty unstable as well, so I doubt having that many of them on one server would work out too well. Also, you have lifetime set to 300 here, which is only 5 minutes, so all vehicles will vanish from their spawn point after 5 minutes. What do you have in types.xml for the children portions, like OffRoadHatchback for example, post that please.

    Vehicle Bug/s

    I’ve been playing on Xbox one for about 5 days now. I am having issues with the vehicles. Any time I add a tire to try and “build” or repair the vehicle, it just takes off driving and flying around on its own. I searched for days to find a truck battery, finally found one, put it in the truck and the truck took off flying through the air and killed me so high up I couldn’t retrieve my body. Now the cars are doing the same thing. is there a fix? I’m sure these are known bugs, right? Since the map is so large, not being able to drive or repair a car is game breaking for me. I’m not interested In a never ending run.
