  1. @ Aeia There is nothing that says the game is definitely going to be a stand alone product. That is just what Rocket, and a lot of other people are wishing for. @OP The game has outdated graphics because Arma 2 is almost 3 years old. This isn't the final version of the game. The latest patch supposedly offered a bunch of performance increases already. Arma 2 doesn't really handle a loot system very well as Rocket stated in his interview. If the game gets ported over to Arma 3, hopefully that engine will be able to handle loot systems a bit better. Not really sure what you mean by better user interface. The one they have right now does just fine. I'm sure it could obviously be improved, but I couldn't imagine this is high on the to do list. You are not going to find a game with more weapons than Arma. The vehicles and interior of the vehicles has been improved already for Arma 3. The mod is buggy because it is an alpha version. Over time these bugs will be removed, and I'm sure on final release a lot of the problems we currently see will go away. I'm also sure there will be plenty of new bugs to take their place, just like every other game that is released on the market.
  2. DayZ is going to become its own game, but it sounds like they are going to use Arma 2's engine. I think they should use a different engine. Wouldn't you pay for DayZ to have: Performance Increases Better Zombie A.I Better Loot Spawning System (sometimes doesn't spawn when your the only player in a town) Better Graphics Better User Interface More Weapons Better Vehicles and Driving U.I. And less buggy I think that if DayZ were to become a stand alone game they should not use Arma 2's engine. Not only does it have performance issues, but its outdated. Wouldn't you want DayZ to become a better game even at the cost of time of release. Instead of making a mod in several stages make a game with Alpha, Beta, and Final release stages. My ideas on this awesome mod. Please put your input on this idea in the comments whether you agree or not. What would you like DayZ to use as an engine and why. RV4 (ArmA 3 engine) RV3 (ArmA 2 engine) CryEngine3 (Aion, Crysis 3, etc.) Unreal Engine 3 or 4 (depends on when 4 releases) List any other engines you think should use and why.

    Chernaus Narco Tanks

also forgot to add that it is being ported over to arma 3, and maybe not COMPLETELY customisable, as surely real life examples of potential coded vehicles would be clearly impractical and in some cases impossible. But even if ye had a few set designs for each vehicle, requiring a specific amounts of scrap metal, ye would be safe as fook! Until ye run out of fuel in range of a sniper :S

    Chernaus Narco Tanks

Amazing how many peeps dont know how grim its gone over the past 4/5 years. nm I guess you could say its more a testament to the power of money then human potential.. I still think ye should be able to mod vehicles in this fashion XD
  5. Dev (DayZ)

This game is going to give me a seizure...

It is from noobs placing tank traps/concertina wire. It does not mean your gfx card is bad/dying like the idiot above me said. This is why you shouldnt place these things in random areas for no purpose other than to be a douchebag or to try it out. I am sure they will do a cleanup like they did for out of map tanks/vehicles. Until then try to remove them if you can.

    Chernaus Narco Tanks

I understand that, tis a very disturbing topic, ive read well into it so im not completely ignorant of whats going on there, but I think it at least gives a real life example of the kind of vehicles im talking about, rather than drawing up numerous film examples.
  7. I've been teleported to my previous position about 800m-2km repeatedly today since this morning, about a total of 10 times. While in vehicles and out. Anyone else having this issue? It is NOT lag, I am always at 30-50ms or so and no one in the clan on the server has reported this same issue.
  8. 3rdparty

    Chernaus Narco Tanks

Or Chernarus Narco Tanks to the more observant, and less tired OPs :S This is what i hope for, in terms of vehicle mods when DayZ is standalone. Maybe a lil too hopeful. https://www.google.c...XGa-20QWV4s2GBw These are pictures of vehicles customised by mexican drug cartels used for fighting rival gangs and the state :S Not intentionally envoking the completely grim set of circumstances going on in mexico for the sake of a game suggestion. But if narco traffickers are building these things and going up against the military and police in em, says something about human potential :S Suggestion: Uber mod your vehicles into apocalyptic zombie mowing mad max machines.

    Warning: Boundries

So I've been playing for a bit and found a couple vehicles, I thought to myself that I would hide these vehicles on the edge of the west map. Unless you have a map this is probably a mistake. I've been trained in land navigation and knew that just using a generic internet map I could find my way back and I could get a good rough grid for where I set up. Unfortunately, once I found a 'good spot' I realized I wasn't even on the map anymore. So, unless you are really good with memory and mental maps, careful not to stray to far west. I found another vehicle stuck out there.
  10. Yesterday my buddy had the luck of running out of the Debug forest for 30km. As He was making his way to a water source when he finally found the NW corner of the map, he stumbled upon a HUGE camp. this was definitely the clan server camp. He proceeded to raid the dozen or so tents and 10 or so vehicles that were initially visible. 40min-1hr or so later he gets the red chain and the server disconnects. It was late, and he figured that it was a regular restart, no big deal. The next day he logs on to discover that everything that he took from the camp, including the vehicle and the items that he stashed in our camp was gone. He calls me to log on this morning with him @ aprx 11am est. There were NO [FoE] members on at this point, so he proceeded to load up a cargo truck down with TONS of gear. I make my way to the camp, and do the same thing. We both split up and stash the vehicles. I log for the afternoon. Around 2pm est after dicking around in a military off-road vehicle that he found at the camp he received a BAN from the server with no specific reasoning. He then connects to another random server to go setup a new camp and this happens. [FoE] Drazik (some admin, leader Im not sure?) follows him somehow to the random server he went to, teleports him to the middle of nowhere, and kills him. You cant make this shit up. Im sure that he will respond with the specifics of his story, but I want to make sure that these douchebags get blacklisted. So here is what happened to me tonight when I logged back on. I went back to the location where I stashed my truck, and as I approached it I saw a white pickup truck. I dropped prone and watched until they left, sprinted to the truck, hopped in and took off. I drove around a bit as close as I could get to my camp as possible (running out of gas), and then I drop all of the crap gear I had on me, and load myself up with the AS50, ghille suit, and NODS. Shortly after I equip all of this, the server goes disconnected again. Im assuming that they are trying to do a roll back like they did before, but it didnt work, because when I finally got back on, the truck was still in front of me. right when I start to drive away, kicked...reason? my 93 ping was too high. wait 5 min, log back in, kicked again..reason? my 73 ping is too high. Im just assuming that I haven't gotten a ban because there was nobody on that could do it. I am sure that someone with the ability to can look at the server logs and verify that this all happened, because these f***s need to be dealt with. PS - For rougly 4 days or so AFTER 1.7.2 was released this server was not updated. but there was always around 6-7 people on. My buddy and I had speculated that they were probably building a camp and looting their server blind while they had a chance. Im pretty sure this isnt illegal or anything, but it is pretty shady stuff. Something that can also be validated by looking at the logs
  11. these cases are hard to prove, server crash/shut down suddenly for vehicles happend to me too, you can check my post Now DAYZ seems to need some time find a fair play server to play with.

    Drop your bag ?

Don't get so testy friend, as you know every unit down to platton size does things differently. When I was in the Army, we left our rucks and equipment in the vehicles whenever we dismounted to do....well anything. As to this post, I think this is less of a suggestion and more a gameplay philosophy. As long as the sniper or overwatch can see the bags, they shouldn't despawn. I'd try it out with a coyote patrol pack filled with empty tin cans and such, just to test it.
  13. Accuracy would still mostly depend on the weapon and the player. You've probably noticed, however, that the character's hands shake when aiming, especially when zoomed in. Someone who never fired a gun would suffer from unsteady hands, from the weapon's knockback, and the general operation of the gun. Again, the idea is to have slight, not game-breaking differences, between a novice and an experienced player. Go into the woods, shoot a few cans, and you should be good to go. Weapon skills should be one of the fastest-climbing ones, especially given that practicing it spends ammo and makes noise. The problem I find is that right now every survivor can shoot, run, sneak, cook, perform surgery and repair vehicles like the best in each field. Never a failure, never a delay. Sure you could have everyone start piss-poor on all of these and then go up from there, but if we're including a "character background" feature in the game, then each character should be good in at least a couple of these things. On stealth, again: people should start sneaking at night or on calmer places, and only later move on to crowded cities and daytime raids. Resistance: having it higher is just a bonus so that experienced characters can focus on other areas of the game, mainly banditry or bandit-hunting, after having passed the basic survival phase (think of it as "the walking dead": early on, they're scavenging Atlanta for food and guns, later, they're managing communities instead). As it stands now, a new player can barely walk 5 km without dying of thirst. Either the counter has to be higher or there should be other ways to drink/eat without depending on canteens and wood/knife/matches. Eh. Maybe you should just stop caring about these suggestions, then? If people are suggesting it, it's because they want it. If they're ever implemented, you could stick to playing the current version. If they're not, we'll play it all the same. Furthermore, I don't see how adding mechanics would make Day Z any less "unique". It'd still be a survival simulator, only it'd be even deeper. Besides, if you'd read my suggestion you'd see there's nothing about "leveling up" here. It's just making the players work so they can achieve the level of knowledge they start with, in the current version, thus encouraging group play and creating more attachment to the characters. Right now, a character in Day Z is nothing more than a walking pile of loot; if he dies and you manage to recover all the stuff from he's body, you're basically playing the same guy. You'd be surprised to know how many experienced trekkers have died of exposure in the woods. Or how many limbs have been lost to an improvised "leg-fixing" surgery. Do you think any useless lump could bring a person who's been shot near to death back to full health? Because anyone in the game can do that right now, as simple as bloodbag-right click. Again, I'm aiming at survival narratives we have grown used to seeing. People dying of simple infections, groups needing the skills of a medic (hell, a veterinarian will do) in order to save a companion's life. I don't disagree with this point. It'd be harsher on new characters. I still think having character progression would make the game more interesting, and survival even more rewarding. Lololololol
  14. FIX THE BUGS BEFORE YOU ADD NEW STUFF TO THE GAME. Seriously. Adding invisible/unlimited bear traps? Tents still wiping on server restarts Vehicles still wiping on server restarts Vehicles resetting on server restarts Tents moving when placed downhill Camo clothing doesn't work Duplicating items Duplicating tents Disconnecting in fights Zombie super aggro when proning 50 m away The list is endless on really HUGE gamebreaking bugs. And you add more buggy items like invisible bear traps. Get your priorities right.

I thought that some servers had vehicles disabled, or, at least that was my understanding.

Most intense firefight of my life

It is possible that you killed the truck. A ural (the truck they had) isn't armored and it is possible that your shots and grenades hit the fuel tank or something. Once severely damaged any vehicle could ignite! Is there a self destruct feature for vehicles?
  17. server with no vehicles? omfg !!!! please inform us :o
  18. That is actually very impressive in that case! Unless you are consistently using Steam (and the standard shortcut from Steam) I don't think there is any way of knowing the amount of hours played. Lucky/unlucky me I used a few different ways of launching the game since I started, lately using DayZ Commander which launches the game via the standard shortcut in Steam and therefore recording my hours. Not sure I wanna know how much I really played :P FML. I understand your playstyle. Personally, I'm stealthing around the world looking for tents and vehicles to loot (not being an ass while doing it - I only take what I need, usually trading what I have for what I want from their tent, but I guess if I find a vehicle and then a tent, I might just take all I can fit in the vehicle). I wish I could call myself a pirate, but I guess that requires actually approaching other players and looting them then and there.. I'd also need a vehicle. I guess I'm just a looter. The cool-factor is just not there in calling yourself a "looter", or worse, a burgler.. I keep associating "looters" with those jerks raiding the digital stores during lesser catastrophes IRL. Oops, getting sidetracked. That's my ADD kicking in. I guess I just grow impatient and understimulated after running around the map a couple of times, at which point I should just go back to RL for a while, but I just keep on playing and eventually killing myself by being reckless.
  19. To those who have travelled around the map a good amount.....take it you have come across those random blue doored concrete shacks...usually there is a fence around them....ya i bet you money those are the "underground" bases he is referring to...and actually i like that idea easier than adding the complication of clearing an open town and trying to defend it against zombies...funny i was always wondering if they were going to utilize those random bunkers all around the map. Anyway how i would like underground bases to work -they would be in those aforementioned blue door shacks most would be unlocked some would start out locked (the locked one would have better gear) -if you enter an unlocked one you find a key that you can put in your utility inventory and that lets you lock and unlock your base door. -to unlock locked doors (pre locked and player locked doors you can do one of two things a)blow it open with a satchel charge (this would destroy the door and make it un repairable so the bunker would no longer be safe to use for storage...unless you want to risk it) b)Crack it open this will require 3 sets of tools perhaps; matches, fuse, and small plastic explosives NOTE: any forced entry would break the door and you would then need a tool box to fix the door (would give more use to the toolbox) NOTE: each bunker would have its own unique key so that mindless killing will get you no where....use your head not your blood lust to get his bunker key and location. Or just do what everyone else will do...kill on sight and happen upon a bunker key and feel good knowing you just fucked someone over....but nevermind that. -there will be cache's in each bunker where you can store weapons and food (unlocked ones will still have loot in them maybe but the locked ones will for sure and they would have the equivalent to crashed helicopter loot. -there will be a fountain where you can re fill water bottle -also there could be different bunker types such as medical bunker, military hardware bunker (gps, rangefinder,NVG top tier guns also these will be the majority of the "locked" bunkers next to medical) then there would be civilian (the majority of bunkers) civilian would just have food maybe a double barrel, enfield or such low tier backpack. "Well what if i kill someone and take his bunker key and never find his bunker?" Hmmm well the key could be reset after a certain amount of time if not used like vehicles it would be taken out of said persons inventory and would respawn in the bunker would still be locked if locked last....so pretty much what would happen after a while would be that most people would have to force there way in "What if most or all the doors become destroyed completely on a server...well hopefully there wouldn't be enough satchel charges to do that...but knowing people, if theres a way to fuck things up...they will find a way....(what its just fact). To prevent that any bunkers without doors would respawn a door every ...month or so? Obviously over time with all the killing and what not all the bunkers would locked because people will lock them go out and probably die with the douche bag murderer just not bother using it so ya pretty much the mindset will be..."oh look a bunker it is locked" so people will most likely end up searching for the 3 tools needed to open a bunker instead of just looking for a bunker. "So if the bunkers follow a key/lock method will it work cross server" AAHHH yes the one flaw (IMO) since well everyone would end up having copies of your key pretty much right? Hm...idk maybe some how make them server specific? idk. Maybe just get rid of the key idea all together and have the only way to open locked ones is through the 3 tools/satchel mehtod. The only time that it can be locked by a player i guess is if they are inside. I don't love that idea but it would be the best method since a unique key system is kind of out of the question (then again i don't know if its impossible or just hard to do) Or just have the ability to lock it whenever and the only to open it back up again is to crack it and repair it over and over each time you want to enter and leave...best i got this is all just brainstorming. But ya off the top of my head that is what i think bunkers would be in dayz.

Wait... There are servers that don't have vehicles enabled?
  21. As the title says. There is an unarmed Ambulance variant of the BMP-2 in the ARMA 2 core game. I would love to see it added to the game as an extremely rare spawn, that would make current vehicles look common by comparison. Also, replace the Huey with the MI-8 Hip, more appropriate for the region if you ask me.
  22. Hey Guys, The US 282 Server has been locked for the past six hours with the same three people in it, and I'm starting to suspect that they are farming loot. This Server has been locked before with the same people in it, that happened yesterday. I've been watching this server for the past three days because I know that this server has vehicles enabled, so I would normally choose this server to play on, but for most of the day it has been locked.......Can anyone offer an explanation?

    US 346. Suspicious behaviour.

I've killed the admin's friend on this server before, and never found anything odd to happen, however he did admit to Ghosting and killing one of our friends because "we were being dicks, because we stole their car, and its just not fair if we have more than one car" I do get the feeling these guys purchased this server because they thought they could hoard all of the vehicles for themselves etc. PS, if you're reading this admin, I have your yellow hatchback, but PM me and you can have it back. Cheers
  24. At the moment the number of people playing this mod is decreasing. 2 months ago at 5 o'clock in the morning i COULDN'T find a single slot at nearly any server to play. Now there are TONS of servers with 20+ slots at prime time. Yes, the number of servers increased, but the number of players decreased. The only reason is - it's boring. It's fun to play when you just start to play. It's fun to explore, to avoid dangerous (when you start to play you think they are really dangerous, but in fact they are as dangerous as my 4 months old brother), its find to search for weapons and loot and so on. But then all that's gone You know nearly every single aspect of this game perfectly. Where to find the loot, the players, food etc. You have nearly nothing to do after you have all the top staff (and after several weeks of playing you can find all the top gear in just no time). It's even fun to repair some vehicles and drive them. But then it becomes boring too. I asked four of my friend who started to play with me several months ago why they stopped playing. The only answer is - booring. And it is really boring to play when you know the mod perfectly and have all the needed staff. And i agree with them. There is no content in the game for such people. You can say - " Oh, it's a sandbox, you can do what eve you want, you can write your own story" Maybe. But in fact the only things you can do there are collecting loot and killing players. Nothing more. (oh yeah you can also repair a car which is "so much fan") That's why i think it won't be popular. It's fan to play at the beginning, then it's not. People come - and people quit. Ones that are not bored now - will be bored later. just my thoughts guys. I don't say this game is bad or somewhat. Just my thoughts. You can discuss it, or just leave the thread. Whatever. And yes. English is not MY FIRST LANGUAGE. I know it SUCKS. Believe me, it's not your life mission to prove me that.
