doesnt work, every server reset the tents pop back up with all their old loot, they vehicles reset all their stored stuff to what they had before the last patch and the heli respawns to skalisty island...

Zombie apocalypse and they can still manage random supply drops... Seems like a bad idea to me. Now if we had transport plane crash sites that had vehicles to fix and drive...perhaps a tank or APC or something...that would be pretty cool.

Our server provider, Host Altitude, has provided us with a "Vehicle/Tent" fix for server side 1.7.2.5. The warning on the fix was that it had been reported that the helicopter does not spawn. However, after a few days of testing, I can tell you that all the vehicle DO SAVE now. The tents are still a bit glitchy and we are trying to determine what exactly must be done to save ALL the tents. I believe that whoever pitches the tents, MUST save the tents. But at least the vehicles are saving and they are NOT turning into something else (i.e. Ural was turning into a bus)

if there was just a tiny little hotfix to fix tents and vehicles... i guess there would be a lot less anger on these forums. fuck the gfx glitches, ppl have learnt to deal with those (restart, various other 'fixes', or simply avoid those areas) however w/o tents and vehicles there really isn't much to do but rage on the forums :) i say release a hotfix and take as long as you need for 1.7.3 :edit oor roll back six updater to 1.7.2.4

Good all-around server, not choppy like some others I've been on recently. As far as the previous questions go... it has 3dp (first person) enabled, as well as vehicles. I've found a few vehicles (bikes, a bus, gaz, uaz), fixed one up and have been using it for a few days now. Server feels kind of empty though, needs more players on it. Also, the past few hours its been missing from the server list, but DayZ commander shows it in my recent's list with a 10k ping, and it has a "private hive" symbol next to it. Are you guys running your own hive now?

solider is hacked civ / camo / ghillie only 3 retards will attempt to say it spawns in vehicles etc... it does not. WHERE YOU GO FRAGGLE

Right its not our game project at all. Its a mod for a game, nothing more nothing less, this is not a standalone game that got ripped apart and rewirtten, its one of 1000 mods. I understand that Dean wants to keep hand on this, of all with standalone coming in the future as it is his baby, but in fact BIS is not abled to find suitable solutions for the hacking problem and on the other side the DayZ staff is not abled to fix his bugs who can be mad about server owners that payed to host his project go and find their own solutions for the existing problems. The last "Hotfix" was released 1 Month ago, leaving bigger holes behind that make the game unplayable, what is the point of having a server with like 15 ppl on it? The player count is decreasing because official DayZ server are not fun at all. You have the fucking artifacts, tents and vehicles not saving and rampant hackers. All of these problems can be hotfixed when you run your local database. You can make a whitelist, edit your server.pbo to advabnced logging and hacking protection and even fix the fucking save bugs as long as they are not client side. Some server owners even managed to fix the artifacts without editing dayz itself. But all of this stuff is not possible when you want to stick to the holy ruleset of an official DayZ server. There is just no advantage of the Hive as the local database support multiple servers too. You can create your own server network with a small amount of servers, whitelist, modified files to fix the major problem and test this game better than it can be tested on any official server.

What do you do when you hit "endgame" status?
Josh225 replied to sauna's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Easy, before the latest patch i tried to get a cool camp going maybe a few vehicles but with them broken i mostly jump on the most populated server i can and stalk people around northern towns... -
Hello, I play everyday starting around midnight, Tokyo time (GMT+9). If you happen to play in asian servers (not a requirement), such as JP, KR or SG, PM me so we can team-up. As a hero I despite the KoS mentality, except in case of bandits, whom I like very much to hunt down. Every survivor deserves a chance to proof being friendly. I play serious and enjoy strategy. Plan is to first gear up quickly in Cherno or Electro and then look for vehicles. Raid military installments and set a pair of tents for backup. Then go to the coast to help new spawns and kill bandits. Alone is quite a challenge. Nothing fancy here. Just looking for a partner to watch my six. We can debate strategies.

can someone give me a list of vehicles that actually save?
Hobnobskid replied to JacksApple's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No problems with vehicles as yet. I usually spam save them 10 or 15 times and that seems to work -
A DayZ survivors best friend! http://dayzdb.com/map http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Vehicles I don't think it is in the game now, but these sites can help you find other *BETTER* vehicles!

What do you do when you hit "endgame" status?
INickeragua replied to sauna's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Go all out on a mass killing spree, if you die then just start again. I got bored of the game when I had a character alive for aver 3 weeks, nearly 5k zombie kills and not a lot to do. I just geared up went on the highest populated server I could join and turned to banditry. After I had gotten a ton of kills I finally died. I started fresh and have had so much fun since. Also I spend a lot of time fixing vehicles since they aren't saving correctly. That usually keeps me busy and going on an adventure to go find parts. -
If it's on Vilayer,,, you have the option to set how many vehicles spawn, add side chat (Global chat) if you'd like, switch between chernarus and lingor, I'll get my friend who runs a server to add more when he's awake.

Server Hopping and Communities, solutions through Server Geography
Kransthow posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Current Situation Survivors are interdimensional beings, who can effortlessly flit between parallel worlds when and where it pleases them. This brings with it some seriously bad side effects. Escaping danger by warping to a parallel world, performing ambushes by jumping through dimensions, acquring material goods by quickly travelling across planes of existence... none of these behaviours are something that should exist in a zombie survival game. Another problem with the current model is that local communities cannot really develop organically. With the ability to effortlessly move between any arbitary server there exists no real reason to use one server over any other (save for vehicles, but material goods go as easily as they come and once gone the server holds nothing to keep you) so servers constantly see completly different populations from one day to the next, making it impossible for the population to form local relationships among themselves. It is obvious that something needs to change, heeding this need many private hive servers have popped up to try and solve these issues. Private Hive solution This is the only current solution to the server hopping problem where your character is locked on a single server, under this model sever hopping is impossible as your character cannot move between servers, however the greater DayZ community is destroyed and fractured into countless tiny little sub-communitys. While sheltered from the negative effects of server hopping players are completly unable to influence anything outside their nutshell kingdom of a server which is incredibly damaging to the greater game. While the walls the Private Hive gives help create communities and prevent sever hopping, they also hide your achievements from the outside. Rendering any actions within meaningless. We can do better than that, and one way of achieving this is to give servers geographical relations to each other. I give two soutions utilizing this to the server hopping and community problem below. Chessboard solution This solution works with each server acting as a tile on a giant chessboard of all DayZ servers, movement between servers is achieved by travelling to the edge of the map of the server you are currently on at which point you appear on the corresponding edge of the server that shares the edge you just travelled to. With this solution the greater community exists because you are not completly isolated from all other servers, but organic local communities can develop due to "dimensional stability" i.e. people will tend to have a general area they play as you can no longer arbitarily flit between any server and as such can develop relationships with players who they have no association with out of game, but just because they areas they generally play in overlap. There do exist issues with this solution though. The edges of bordering servers must be of similar type, to just look at the current map chernarus as an example. If you were to walk to the north edge of the map you would then appear in the south sea on the server north of the first server which would not really feel very authentic. The addition of servers to the chessboard can only ever be added to the edge which would either lead to very high populations in the center servers (which can cause problems, for example if you need to travel through one server to get to the server on the other side and the intermediary server is currently full you will have to move around it which is a fairly un-authentic experience that wastes your time.) and very low populations on the outer servers which is an inefficient use of resources or if wrapping around is implemented to lessen this unless the chessboard is a perfect rectangle (which would be impossible to realistically maintain) you would get servers occupying the same geographic area which just gets confusing. Additionally generally one would want servers with similar pings and server times to occupy the same general geographic area but new servers can only be added at the edges which prevents this. There are also problems if you remove a server, you end up with a hole in the chessboard which can't be travelled through which would be annoying to say the least. Though perhaps the largest problem this solution has is travel itself. There currently exists around ~3000 DayZ servers and assuming they were arranged in a square the square would be ~55 servers wide. If you can wrap around the map the average distance from your current location to any given server is roughly ~30 servers. Given it takes roughly ~20 minutes to cross a server to get to any given server would take roughly 10 hours straight of running in-game at your keyboard (and much longer if you want to get there safely). That is hell. The Fallout solution This solution is the one I feel would best combat server hopping without fracturing the community like the Private Hive solution or having the technical challenges of the Chessboard solution while still allowing organic local communities to form. For those familiar with the travelling system in the original Fallout this solution functions similarily. Like the Chessboard solution travel between servers works by travelling to the edge of the map, however once reaching the edge instead of transferring to an adjacent server you are taken to a global view. From here you can see individual servers as nodes on the globe and you can set a path to travel to them. Travelling takes both some time to complete and drains your hunger and thirst which limits the maximum range you can travel at once (though upon arrival you can replenish yourself and continue travelling towards your final destination if it is further than your maximum range). Vehicles also consume gas but move much faster, drain your hunger and thirst less and generally have greater max ranges. Upon arrival at a target node you arrive on the edge where it intersects the heading you arrived at (or as close as possible in the case of water borders). With this solution new servers can be added easily as they can be added anywhere on the globe and as close as possible to any other server (though it would probably be best to enforce a minimum distance between servers. And you don't get the same "hole" problems when servers are removed or at capacity as with the Chessboard solution. Additionally travelling isn't anywhere near as horrowing as it doesn't require you to be at the keyboard and would likely take much less time. The only downside I see to this solution which the Chessboard solution also shares is that combat at the edges of the map would be akward, however the edges of the map are fairly desolate and combat is uncommon there so it should only be a minor issue. Finally on death players would be able to choose to respawn at any server to allow friends to more easily meet up to start playing together or to allow people to try another area of the Globe. -
I have recently downgraded to the patch before the current one and I gotta say that it is a complete change. 1.7.1.4 is essentially a more PvE focused patch, with the only servers running it very low pop and the ability to save vehicles and camps as well as being monitored very thoroughly by admins. I have a current group of 2 trusted people and myself and I think we could honestly use maybe 2-3 more. We play casually weekdays/ends just whenever people are on at the same time(really depends on work schedule, courses, etc). We don't have specified roles but from playing with these two guys for a while I can say that: One of my squad members is Bradley He is usually a heavily armed sniper He also uses demolition and silenced offhand My second squad member is Phillip He is a heavily armed sniper/rifle combo with some decent spotting ability If you believe you might be interested just post on here with a couple things: Age: What is it, try to atleast be 15-16, the squeaky voices are very tedious You Need a Mic/Headset: Y/N Why you might be interested?: We use Skype and Teamspeak but I myself have access to Ventrilo as well (no owned servers but different options) In the end, this game is all about survival. That works a lot better working together. See if you can figure it out.

A solution [somewhat] to vehicles and/or tents not 'saving'.
Inception. posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you a player who wants to find some vehicles that don't reset after every server restart? Perhaps a tent kind of guy? There's a very simple solution. Revert back to 1.7.2.4. It's honestly an extremely simple way to get that bike you've always wanted. Perhaps that UAZ, or even that chopper. NOW, if you're looking for PvP only, then 1.7.2.4 is not for you. 1.7.2.4= vehicles and/or tents. Depending on the server, a slight chance for common PvP. 1.7.2.5= PvP for days. Maybe you'll get extremely lucky and find a server that either doesn't restart or magically saves vehicles even after restarting. The thing about going on 1.7.2.4 servers is that all the clans/players/whoever have moved on from that server a long time ago, therefore all vehicles that were left alone for more than 7 days shall be put back into their original spawn [or at least, one of them]. Perhaps all you're looking for in vehicles/tents is storage? [Obviously tents are for storage]. If that is the case, you can store the gear that you desire to store in the tents/vehicles, and then merely revert back to 1.7.2.5 to go and hunt players, help players, rob players, watch players, fuck with players, scare players...whatever your heart is longing to do. It takes me less than five seconds to revert back. Perhaps you're looking for transport? Grab a motorcycle, a car or a bike. Drive up to your desired place and park in somewhere safe; revert to .5 and do what you wish. It's honestly, as stated before, a simple solution. Considering 1.7.2.5 didn't fix artifacts [for most players; it pretty much fixed it for me], the only real addition [of course, I'm probably completely ignorant towards this] of 1.7.2.5 is humanity and some other small things. I don't see much of a change between .5 and .4. If enough people go with this suggestion, then perhaps you'll get the best of both words: PvP and vehicles. -
according to the guy who closed your thread - hive wipe does wipe vehicles and tents too I'd welcome a full wipe on every major update so people don't forget they are alpha testers (like that guy above whining about losing 'progress')
-
Wiping hive completely will wipe tents and vehicles. Tents and vehicles and players on a non official hive will have no effect on playes playing on the official hive. Locked as I don't see fit for this thread to continue.

All players with vehicles are hackers?
Pro ficient Z replied to CrimsonRisk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lmfao at all vehicles are hacked in, In the last 4 day's alone I have fully repaired and refueled 5 Helicopter's and flew them each for over five hour's. Granted I have a group of 4 people helping me but even with server restart's it takes us maybe 45 minutes to get a helicopter fully repaired and in the air. The key to it is, Once you have the vehicle up and running use it to stock up on parts for the next one. After about the second vehicle you will start having more part's than you know what to do with. There's a rhythm to repairing vehicles and unfortunately you just haven't found that rhythm yet. Many people have listed numerous step's to getting vehicles up and running. I have gotten god only know's how many vehicles up and running all by myself but no matter how prepared you are, You will never match the speed soloing it as you would with a group. Just my 2¢. -
Suggestion how to make the different servers better
Paddy0610 replied to daniel7000's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I wouldnt give the Admin the rights to spawn stuff where they want , but the right to likely spawn new vehicles at random spots (restrictet number). And the building ability. And i want a fucking despawn/respawn random in the map all thats in the Debug plains Area Command -
I'm all for it. I can't tell you how many M107s, AS50s, FNFALs, and L85 thermals I've been finding on people, vehicles, and tents in the last three weeks. A LOT, It's absolutely ridiculous! The CZ is actually rarer than the rarest sniper rifles :| . I remember this one dead jerk next to a tent. He had three coyotes with the exact same nice stuff in each of them. And besides, having everybody start out fresh would be fun! :beans: :emptycan: Not quite as related, but while I'm at it; can we have less heli crash spawns? I found three heli crashes in one day. That day ended with something like 3 night vision FNFALs, 2 MK48 Mod 0s, something like 3 Bizons, 2 DMR, 2 M14, and plenty of ammo. Not sure if I'm forgetting anything, I just thought "wow this is ridiculous, how are we going to carry any food?" edit. guy above,..............I know a guy who has lived a lot of days as well. It's because he hasn't logged in the game in over a month, so it's kind of hard to give a shit how long the game says you lived.

attrition, to fight the loot inflation
dallas replied to Noobishtactic's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Have the hive detect hacked weapons and kill all characters carrying them. Turn deer stands down a tier. Prevent loot farming. Fix or remove tents. Delete tent/vehicles out of bounds. Wipe hive.
