  1. I've played on a lot of private hives and on a few of them with Admins that know their shit, they have fixed many things themselves that plague this game. Weeks before tents were fixed "officially" I was playing on a private hive, that had fixed tents & vehicles so they saved properly. Yet took forever to get this working on the public hive. Right now I've been playing on a server that has fixed all duping issues with the exception of tents. Meaning trying to dupe items in backpacks or by other means fails, but they just haven't been able to fix duping by tents at restarts. Yet officially this has yet to be addressed and anyone can dupe their AS50 at the drop of a hat long as they have a buddy to help therm or eat/drink unlimited amounts of time from a single item... No server restarts needed. Now on to battleye.. Why is it, that I played on some German & French servers yesterday that have been running a 3rd party anti hack script. (http://gotcha-antihack.com/) That kicks/bans people for teleporting, spawning vehicles & having guns they aren't supposed to have.. yet battleye can't seem to do the same on the fly.. Why is it some single person that developed a anti hack can actually start making a dent in the hacking issues while the official supported anti hack fails and does much of nothing? Honestly me and 3 friends played on a server yesterday that while we did run into hackers we were actually able to play a good 2 hours before having it happen. (simply amazing considering we play on large servers that hackers prey on) In two hours of being on one of these server I honestly must of seen 7 to 8 players kicked for having AS50 with thermal scopes. I understand that this is yet another whine thread about hackers but it's questions that should be asked..the fact is random server admins & 3rd party coders are fixing things that should of been fixed ages ago officially. Why can't this be done by the guys that are supposed to do it before there is no one left playing this mod? Honestly I don't have a lot of faith in shelling out more cash for a standalone if you guys can't get your act together now.. What will make anything different later, if you don't do these fixes now? You could build trust now by fixing things that can be fixed but instead you leave them for ages or simply ignore them. Why should I believe this will magically change once a stand alone is released?
  2. Same here AU 25 Instance ID:10517. ​Vehicles Spawned ok for the first week. Once they were destroyed they have not returned. 14 DayZ & no vehicles respawning. ​Tents sometimes keep there loot & the fuel glitch is really annoying. especially if your out the middle of nowhere.

    That is where you are wrong, i encounter multiple hackers everyday on my own server and they fuck everything up. Mass teleport the vehicles and tents and insta kill everybody, on a DAILY base. Just wanted to point that out, don't care about the rest.

    Server is currently down, small problem with installing the latest vilayer update... ticket already sent in.... Hopefully it will be resolved before i go off to work More hackers banned etc... Also there will be a small rule addition, if u go around with a hacker & i am pretty sure u are aware of this + are gettin hacker to spawn vehicles / guns for u. U will run the risk of getting banned along with them. And apparently vilayer have added a vilayer anti-cheat script thing to newest update, kinda curious to see what they have done
  5. How about we change the default ArmA2 communication channels for the standalone. One of the major disadvantages with direct channel is, it's very dangerous to use in populated areas, even if you're talking to a friendly, anyone in a 200 meter diameter can hear you and come gunning for you and your new found best friend. Whisper channel: I'd like to suggest renaming one of the channels and change it's properties. We keep direct channel with it's current properties(100m voice and 40m text), but we change one of the remaining channels, rename it to Whisper channel and change the range, so you need to sit side by side, within 3-5 meters to read/hear the channel. To find other players, you have to enter populated areas, which means more chance of actually meeting someone and an equal risk of meeting bandits. This way when you're done yelling friendly, friendly, you can switch to whisper, to avoid drawing nearby bandits towards your peaceful conversation. When meeting strangers in DayZ, it usually takes a while to get the feel for the other player and if you're broadcasting your friendly intentions, for more than a short moment, your friendly conversations are often interrupted by sudden death. As a balance between good and evil, less friendly players can also go: "Pssst come over here in safe whisper distance" before they stick a Makarov into your ear and take your DMR from your cold, dead hands. Radios: I know Rocket has already talked about cell phones, but I was thinking more about radios. With radios you could offer both stationary CB radios and portable walkie talkies. CB radios might require, working and fueled generations to run, while walkie talkies, could utelize the same batteries used in laser designators. What I find appealing about radios is you can either head for a fixed known location, where you know for sure you can find and repair a radio, but that since these locations draw lone players looking for company, bandit snipers might stalk them for easy targets. Alternatively you can search high tier locations for more valuable portable radios, but aquiring them comes with an increased risk. Also if you're broadcasting from a stationary antenna, you never know, who's lisening to you, where they are, if they are friendly longing for another human voice or if they are trying to get you to reveal your location and are stalling you, while they are driving towards you in vehicles, armed with heavy weapons. With the walkie talie you're more mobile and less exposed, especially if we place CB radios on the top platform of radio towers. However if batteries are rare, you have to limit your usage and practise being short and consice in your transmissions. Maybe one battery has a couple of hours worth of life or they work like a weapon magazine, with 30-50 radio transmissions. When you select "turn on radio/walkietalkie" in your mouse menu, you get access to the radio channel and the radio start either consuming fuel for the generator or battery life. CB radios and walkie talkies could also allow more than one frequincy, if the engine allows it maybe five. At the moment ArmA provides six channels: Global, side, group, vehicle, command and direct. If three are reserved for whisper, direct and vehicle, maybe the last three could only be accessed with radios or if the engine allows it, add a few, so we have atleast five channels. What you think? tl/dr: I liek turtles.

  7. I agree that would be preferable, but I'm not sure if that would take up too much server resources. How would you track how far a vehicle has moved? Building a database of their current locations, comparing it to a database of their last location, and reverting any vehicles that went over x meters between builds? You'd have to rebuild the databases frequently enough that a vehicle never drove outside of your limit (how many meters traveled to have been "teleported"). I wasn't sure if that would take too much server resources. Not sure if we're running on an i7, or a Pentium 4, lol. Its also harder to write.
  8. true, we would have to find a way for the script to know they have been "Teleported" maybe make it save more oftent and then detect anomalies to the normal pattern or something. it has to be something where the 5 vehicles the script detects, must have moved more then they normally do.

    Missing the chopper!

    As far as i know you can see in the Server logs("arma2oaserver.RPT") on server start which vehicles were submitted and spawned from the hive. And as I said, I see every vehicle there except the chopper. So even if someone would have already stolen it, I would see it in the logs spawning.
  10. Hmm, there are likely to be situations, where friends are parking up to or more than 5 vehicles at a camp site, so we need a script that detects if a vehicle is teleporting and then sets it back to its last saved location, if this is possible.

    Missing the chopper!

    Hi guys! 1 Week ago I rented a new Server and everything went fine so far except that the chopper just doesn't want to spawn. :/ All vehicles are there except the chopper.. I know it for sure, because I watched the logs from server start. Has anything like this happened to you or is it maybe a bug? Greetings!
  12. This is ripper, some of you have met me in game, I drove a bus about the NE airfield for a while. :) I was talking about scripts to detect hacks, and I know someone posted earlier about it. If we can extract vehicle location data with a server side script, then we could have it save their locations every five mins. Then, if 5 vehicles ever showed up in the same 100 meters, it would revert all vehicles to their positions saved 5 mins ago. Keeps hackers from teleporting all cars together, which seems to be the most popular script right now.

  14. * Server this happened on: US 89 * Time that it happened including your timezone: This happens 24/7, no matter what time. * What happened during the incident: Well, US 89 doesn't have a lot of admins, so hackers take advantage of that, and spam the server with vehicles and weapons, while constantly teleporting / killing players. I challenge the developers to go on this server and see for their selves.

    50 Jerrycans?

    So, I finally managed to find an ATV on the server I frequent. Kind thoughts to those who parked it in plain sight along with the rest of their vehicles (a sedan and another ATV), just shy of the placed that should not be named. However, when I took it, it had a whooping 50 jerrycans in its storage, so I kind of suspect duping. So in order to keep my conscience, I'd like to ask how many jerrycans would be a realistic amount to steal from a low grade camp. Then I can dump the rest. I think I have seen around five cans in my career of DayZ, but then again I have not done a lot of industrial raiding. On a related note, I think that vehicles should despawn if they are not saved for a week. Then, people who are good at hiding them but quits a server will not accidentally deny the rest of us vehicles for life.
  16. Server: [bRA#1] On2Play 2986 Time: 1:55 - 1:58 AM EST What Happened: Well, I loaded in by the shore and what do I see? About every vehicle in the game in one location, boats, heli's, ATV's, Bus's all of em. There was a guy sitting on the other side of a car and I went over to ask him how he was, and how long it took to get all the vehicles there, he responded " I found it all" and proceeded to shoot and kill me with a Sniper Rifle with what looked like a desert camo scope on it, don't remember that being in DayZ. Didn't get his name, but maybe check server logs for who killed "404 Sharlandra" around the time of incident and see if that same person was scripting for cars.

We have a private server here that needs more people to populate it, and make it more exciting Some of our perks are: Properly functioning tent and vehicle saving (vehicles do not run out of fuel with restarts) I know what shows up in the logs from scripters, and what it means A stable server with 40 slots Admin that are friendly and on frequently Veteran difficulty 30 vehicle spawns Nobody can ghost on you, and shoot you in the back If you have any questions about this server pm me or leave a post Just Search For : US57
  18. welp since this has been necro'd being able to drive/pilot everything right off the bat. being able to kill yourself with a door being able to walk off a helicopter crash but break your bones from a 1 meter jump (ok I'll be fair, it's 1.5 meters) getting killed by going near rocks getting killed by trees getting killed by tents vehicles flipping because of train tracks even tho you take it as humanly fucking slow as possible being able to enter only a handful of buildings finding weapons and ammo for it conveniently placed across the map on the floors of buildings. not being able to fix the broken down cars on the streets of cernarus. hackers *brace yourselves for the QQers* being able to dupe yourself by accident because of relog in attempt to fix graphic glitch graphic glitches STAIRS! being able to carry 2 AS50s in your backpack, but not 2 primary weps on your back not being able to have 2 pistols equipped (srsly, the holster is on the right leg, mite as well put one on the left leg) I could go on and on and on all night long

    Reasons why spraying/writing on walls (or whatever) could work in DayZ: - Almost every zombie, horror, game that I can think of has had at least some messages sprayed in graffiti and or written in marker on the walls. Resident evil 2 in the Raccoon City streets, and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 (Chicago Ted). And you know why most of these games have them?...because they add to the atmosphere. It gets you thinking: Who wrote this? When did they write this? Why did they write this? - It could be reset every 7 hours or so, that way Chernarus won't look like a Jackson Pollock painting. - Maybe also have the ability to erase drawings for example by combining your water bottle with a sponge, or towel. - More variety into the game. Different color markers, spray cans, empty spray cans, strewn all around Chernarus. - Even though I personally wouldn't care for this feature: The ability to paint your vehicles, and weapons as well. - Imagine how hilarious it would be if a guy in Chernogorsk began drawing little houses with arrows on them indicating the directions they need to turn to get to the 'safehouse', i.e. church, in an homage to l4d. The possibilities are endless as to how making your own messages in DayZ could enhance the playing experience overall.
  20. Tried multiple times to jump off the hotel (choppah rides!) onto a bed of barbed wire, destroyed vehicles (usable and scenic) and zombies, always died. Ugh, without breaking legs? The platform of the back of the market? XD I think I once even managed to jump from the middle of the bottom stairs of the 2 story barn without breaking my legs.

    Stuck on last loading screen

    Just barely started having this same issue. Been playing for a couple weeks now, no problem, then bam, all of a sudden im stuck at the damn loading screen. First my server gets all screwed up and wont' spawn vehicles and now this....can't even play on a different server now D:
  22. setpos is a variable that hackers use to teleport stuff, it would not go off for you just driving a vehicle. 9 out of 10 times they are either teleporting themselves, players, or vehicles.
  23. That was what I was thinking too. But you have to count on vehicles too then as they move faster than a walking person obviously.
  24. xpost from my reddit reply: This server is amazing, I have been playing here exclusively for the past month or two. The servers have alot of activity and there is normally quite a bit of activity in teamspeak for people grouping up. Hacking rarely happens, the load times are blazing fast compared to any other server i have been on, and the server is heavily moderated. Ive kept kits for DAYS on this server even playing on nights with 40+ people online. 60 vehicles means noone really hordes vehicles, and everyone has a chance to get in a car and be mobile on the map.. So much so that you can camp busy highways/fueling stations and hijack cars quite often (its great!) 3 hueys, no one clan has control over the map, and if you really want a chopper you can get one with a bit of hard work! I play under the name danson/hodor, hop in teamspeak and we can go racketeering together! Bottom line is you need to try this server, it has made DayZ playable for me and my friends, and not just some mindless shootout in cherno/elektro because you feel you are going to lose all your shit anyways.
