  1. Anyone hear any news out there about someone having a look at how to go about creating one large map based on C+ and the upcoming Livonia?

I remember back in the MOD days it was kind of cool to "pretend" Chenarus was linked to Lingor, Tavania, and the others, but, since each map basically was a separate server, it never really "felt" vast...

I can imagine this would be a fairly involved project, but since both maps are "officially-created" packages it would probably be less of a headache than working with 3rd-party custom terrain....right?

The server workload alone might be the show stopper....but hey!.... Imagine the RP and PVE possibilities!

Another option is to simply run TWO Private servers (Master/Slave) but not sure if that's even viable anymore...knowing how poorly BI seems to treat the Private Server owners...

Probably in the minority, as well, of those looking for LARGER maps....but being mostly a PVE guy it's something that would vastly enhance my DayZ.

    Cheers!

  2. OK, my dear BI folks.... If you release this Map as a paid DLC....you had BETTER offer a combined full Chenarus/Livonia hybrid map for us as well...(If the servers can actually handle it)...

That 44 second clip was definitely not worth waiting for, guys...this should have been a 10 minute walkthrough....almost makes me think it isn't even ready yet, sorry.

I admit that it looks very, very good, though. The assets seem to compliment the environment well.

  3. Good work on this update, Devs.

    A lot of positive improvements.

I am quick to criticize.....And this time around I would like to give you credit for your work on 1.05

A short visit to Experimental....followed by a push to Stable...And a lot of MEANINGFUL additions, Tweaks, and Fixes.

    Thanks!

Do Bohemia workers even bother with the Feedback tracker at this point? I haven't seen any responses or interactions lately. I personally haven't been able to play the game since around February with the crashing bug I could not fix on my own and I somehow hoped they would fix it along the way, especially that I saw other people reporting the same thing. I would come back and check if anything changed along the way, but nope. They haven't fixed it, of course, so I finally reported it myself, but it seems nobody even touches that thing anymore. I have defended the devs throughout the years, but this is really close to them crossing the line.😑

Just would have been enough for them to have continued updating the feature/content list they had going for a VERY short period of time.

The colored check boxes were ALL too revealing and I guess they realized it made it too easy for us customers to see just how poor their deliverables were.

And who else wanted that thing pinned on these forums....in front of all the Status Reports? Again....nothing keeps you as honest as a bright shining billboard plastered with WRITTEN commitments!

Even given how things have gone down regarding the promises or best-guesses from us.....popping in to these forums and having a quick glance on the Game ProgressTracker would have alleviated LOT of our frustrated and confused posts. methinks....

Or....Am I just not privy to the whereabouts of that tracker?

I tried a quick search. but came up empty.

Why do you ask?  Are your experiences with cars despawing different?

I personally have only had ONE type of vehicle despawn on me and that is the Blue LADA. The Gunter has yet to act up and the Olga has been extremely reliable and faithful for remaining where I leave it.

On a Community Modded Server there seems to be only ONE regular that the vehicles have despawned on, and the rest of us have only encountered the very rare occasion of it.

I know the vehicles are still a LONG way off from being what they should be....but again....it has been my consistent experience that the Olga and Gunter seem to stay in place at least.

I can get through many hours of driving and only rarely do I experience the stuttering de-sync and it is usually when a high-ping player is on (not positive this is related though).

I hit a Vanilla server every once in a while and vehicles definitely seem to be a hell of a lot more flaky and unpredictable.

Coincidence? Dunno. But again.... It would be interesting to know if there is a greater likelihood of vanishing cars on Vanilla versus Community Modded. Maybe making even slight changes to their spawn conditions, or their spawn timers might be having an effect?

  6. As of now....in the state the Engine is in (Renderer more appropriately)….

Does nVidia or AMD have any clear advantages?

As I look to the next graphics card(s) for my system I want to make as educated a " guess " as possible to maximize my frames and my overall immersion. The 1080s and 2080s are nice, and all that...but the AMD cards (despite the power draws) are a much better value for framerate unless you think RTX is sexy.

I currently run a pair of R9-290X's in Crossfire and my frames are a decent 60+ on HIGH settings...so not panicking yet...but this game probably prefers one chipset over the other.

Looking for opinions from the folks that developed the game, only, please....been in the PC business for a long time so I already know all the legacy arguments.

    Thanks in Advance.

  7. PC player, here....feeling your pain, my man.

Your post outlines what a great many also feel.

The potential is there...but the folks at BI are just not good enough (or not managed well enough) to get DayZ up to where we ALL want it to be.

Keep the faith...and perhaps there can be salvation in the form of a console MOD? Not sure how that works (if it can at all) but the Modding Community and the vast array of Community-run PC servers have really helped to keep DayZ evolving.....despite the developers' best efforts to piss us off completely.

I'm excited that you DEVS are hard at work, improving this title. All these subtle additions bring the immersion to a place that no other titles have done. Thank you for your dedication and the long hours of bringing this game to a as close to life experience as possible. You guys/gals rock!

You forgot to add the "Sarcasm" emoticon!

  9. As a follow up to my post above....

If BI is really in the business to turn a profit, they should come to the conclusion that the Modding Community can easily come up with whatever content they desire...and do it quicker and with less bugs.

Instead, at this point (and since their credibility as a game development company is suffering from this epic failure) they should admit it to themselves...stop wasting their time and money on "DayZ content" and fully embrace the fact that they need to focus on ARMA 4.

The wealth of knowledge they can learn from all the eventual mods for the Standalone will definitely help them make the ARMA game a better one...and they will finally be able to cast off the stigma of having a game that after YEARS of development is STILL in what can be rightfully called BETA. (sorry devs, but not going to pull any punches here...).

There is no shame in accepting and understanding your limits. There is, however, in relentlessly denying them. Close off DayZ as a Game Title....Start "Officially" calling it ARMA 4 and let us have our Survival game back, please. 😉

Pretty sure that the implementation of new weapons does not affect the implementation of more survival features.

Well...in defense of @Kent Gissing…. The addition of yet more weapons, ammo, and military gear in general DOES have a direct effect on how the survival "experience" presents itself in the Standalone.

While these items and features may not overlap as far as development cycles for the team, it certainly moves the pendulum towards a PEW PEW shooter rather than what DayZ enthusiasts are looking for.

A fellow forum contributor mentioned that these additions are starting to make it seem that Marek and his crew are using DayZ SA as an ARMA 4 pre-Alpha and have abandoned the effort to make it an honest hard-core survival game....and I happen to agree with that perspective, unfortunately.

  11. Well, This is an interesting development....from...well...the Developers. 😉

It's not really what we are hoping for (like maybe fixing the Stable build) but it's a step forward...I guess.

I personally feel that there is no need to run a separate "Experimental" build unless there was a stable "Stable" build..... But what the hell...just my opinion.

    Cheers!

No Dev responses..  I guess they just cant be bothered to address our issues...  Frustrating... to say the least.  Here is a hint.  Instead of wasting everyone's time with an hour long stream where you ramble on about nothing.  and are obviously NOT prepared as the game play you were suppose to show was not ready...  How about paying someone to monitor these forums and having logical responses and honest answers for your Community who are literally PAYING your bills.  Thanks!

Well...the thing is....The developers of this title have acted in this manner for years now, so it's nothing new. The legacy of DayZ SA is a textbook example of how NOT to run a game publishing company and we can all simply look at each other for the explanations as to why. The "Early Access" system was played perfectly by Bohemia and this is what we have to show for our "good faith".

If "we" are genuinely as frustrated and disappointed at the current state of this game, then the only thing we can do is basically refuse to buy, endorse, or show interest in ANY offering from Bohemia Interactive going forwards. I personally will never click on my ARMA titles in my Steam Library again until I feel they have delivered a reasonable product from this disaster. And I won't bother with any future titles from Bohemia Interactive. That's about all "we" can do right now....but at least it makes me "feel" a little better.

    Questions for devs:

Can you shed some light on what is planned for the health system and loot economy?

-Will temprature ever become a factor again? Are we going to have to make a fire to warm/dry up when we are wet and cold, or will it stay like it is now where we just step inside a house and immediately get warm and dry?

-Will blood ever become a factor again? Like before where we lose a percentage when getting shot in addition to bleeding. I have yet to had the use for a saline/blood bag since 0.63.

-Will healing time ever become a factor again? We heal fully from blinking red health and blood in about 10 minutes, we STILL literally don't have to give a fuck about getting hurt because of this.

-Will we ever have to actually hunt and scavenge for food to survive? Or is hardcore survival just stumbling over cans of food in basically every house? Same goes for weapons, ammo and top grade gear like helmets, nvg, plate carriers etc. It's way to easy to find. When we get half across the map we are DROPPING excess ammo and guns for heavens sake.

I haven't felt like I've played a hardcore survival game ever since 0.63 dropped. Loot has no value because of how common everything is, our health is of no concern because of how fast we heal up.

You also added the ability to attach chemlights to every backpack (which is fantastic), but the personal night light is still in. So next to no one is using flashlights (because there is no need with the night light), and still half the server leaves during night time. Can you please just remove this garbage night light feature?

I really hope you can give these things some thought, because the dayz experience is so dull and dumbed down now.

We have one (1) server to choose from that feels remotely like dayz should, and that is dayz underground. We actually have to join a modded server to experience dayz, when it should be the other way around; join the modded servers if you want 5x loot, food everywhere and the works.

Interestingly, I just had a lively discussion with a fellow player on a Modded Server Discord, where I was grumpy about all the added weapons, gear, and ammo, and how I personally think it cheapens the experience to a point where DayZ stops being DayZ.

There are vastly differing opinions about what constitutes a worthwhile balance in DayZ gameplay, and you are right in your observations about how the Modded Servers have become the solution to a problem that never should have existed in the first place.

That aside, however, I also see a trend toward Community softening the PVE elements to a point where I feel the gritty immersion fading in to the background again, but maybe it's just due to the plethora of new content and features that have started to show up, as we all have been gagging for this stuff for so long it's hard for server owners to NOT want to try to bring it to their players.

And it is primarily driven by what seems to be the popular consensus regarding how the game should be played.

A server I have really enjoyed playing on for the last 6-7 months has become a loot-fest, and I guess it's because having a hardcore experience is just not what the general public wants out of the game, unfortunately.

Maybe the Developers saw this all along, and knew that the advent of the two console ports would mean even MORE people would want the easy loot and large selection of weaponry, and ultimately, a PVP, KOS style of "survival" game....while others were expecting that word to mean something drastically different?

It will be interesting to see how the Modded servers evolve over the next few months...and how the player base will choose between them.

I am hopeful that once the stability issues and glitches get sorted out the server owners will have a better idea of where they want their server to go, and we will start to see a greater gap between the two primary gameplay styles and the enjoyment while playing each of these will be betterfor everyone.

I buried some bags, on exp  . . and it wont let me dig them up. I can see the mound of earth, and it lets me try to dig them up but nothing. i will raise a ticket tomorrow3C822620AE6466975953F3E1A5F198AAB963F3CA

    That's odd.

I have not seen "Pile of Dirt" as the prompt for buried stashes (Sea Chest, Pelican Case, and Ammo Box). Is that maybe just a bugged out stash that has now become just a hole where you would normally have gotten worms from after digging for them?
