Ok... so the initial experience when my home vanilla Deer Isle server was a mess right off the bat, which was to be expected. When it was back on 1.09, the gameplay was flawless. Just slick. So, here are the symptoms: Can't open doors (50% of the time), get the "doorknob rattling" sound, almost as if it were locked (but it's not) Can't put items in hand (95% of the time) Periodically, severe desync (phantom zombie hits, suddenly appearing somewhere I was about 1-2 minutes ago, etc) Health/temperature/hydration meters not being accurate (delayed, as in if I'm losing health from being cold I'll start limping a couple minutes BEFORE the meter shows going red) I'll get that "floating item" label that sticks with me even after I've left the area of the item, and it remains floating around until I try to access the next item If I'm having problems and I re-log, it'll be "better" for a bit but then it essentially becomes broken again Zinger? Chatting with other people on the server, they're not having any of these issues. Other than some adjustments to their gameplay, they seem to be playing just fine. My troubleshooting steps so far: Speedtest: 50-60MB down, 15-20MB up, 6-10ms ping Server connection: 150-200ms ping (same or only incrementally worse than prior to the 1.10 update) Uninstalled/reinstalled both DayZ & the Deer Isle mod file (made sure both folders were clean/clear + ran registry cleaner in between) Any suggestions?

Your Server just stole all of my $hit

Oh dude... that's not true AT ALL. Have you never experienced the joy of leaving select words/letters spelled out for your victims to find with single bullets/seeds in a raided person's crates/tents? Takes forever but leaving your mark? Priceless. -
So I think it's universally known that 1.06 introduced a fun little function to NVGs... random flickering on and off. Maddening at the least, but very much dangerous to the well-being of your character as well (you can't safely drive at night with NVGs. Also, I'm not sure why but tapping the shift button (sprint) seems to sometimes help toggle it back on when it flashes off? Not sure why but I was able to replicate it as "fixing" the issue several times. But man oh man... what a terrible issue/bug! Does anyone know what the mechanics are/what causes it? Is it tied to the flickers in brightness/lighting that occur during the day as well?

Fresh Spawn Survival in Livonia
DoctorScandalous replied to DoctorScandalous's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the advice everyone! This has helped me to get a LOT better about surviving that first 30 minutes... cheers to all! -
@Styrmesson This be what you're looking for. Note that the loot tables are a bit wonky... further south you go, the more you'll find military hardware in the strangest places. Found TONS of plate carrier vests in industrial shacks in the purple zone.

Like @McWendy said... stashes are the way to go. Not sure if you're playing Livonia or Chernarus, but there's basically two stages to DayZ... getting your basic gear squared away (where you only have to maintain food/water, not hope/find it) and once you get a stash down so on your next spawn you've made getting basic gear much easier. If you run across a barrel or a protective box somewhere, carry it somewhere secluded nearby and use that as your temporary base of operations. Start looking for nails/a saw/etc and a shovel and then you'll be able to start burying crates and having more security in terms of loot. Or... accept that DayZ giveth and taketh away and be happy with the loot that's on you. I personally feel a bit of relief when I die/respawn because I feel less responsible for the gear on my back.

Maybe since it's new and interesting to check out, maybe... but not as a rule. Agreed to your original point... they should have either wiped official servers across the board upon the release of 1.06 or created a separate set of hives for Livonia. I took the "high road" and F11'd my character on Chernarus so I could get a fresh start on Livonia but I know a LOT of people who didn't... rolled into the spawn zones fully geared, with tons of food/water... hardly a re-introduction to "survival."

I regret buying Livonia... Read plz

I'd like to request that DayZ increase the spawn rate of teddy bears cuz this room needs a lot more hugs. -
ok, bohemia, here's how you revive your dead game

The large majority of your points are about guns. That's not the majority of the game to a lot of players. Just sayin'. -

Yeah... was chatting with some buddies and it seems that in addition to your recommendation, it seems like the new spawn priorities are: Get to well to drink ASAP Find knife Find chickens/slow moving animals & kill/break it down Make hand drill & cook/eat food Proceed to continue looting up basic survival gear It's kind of crazy how VAST of a departure 1.06 is from 1.05 just from a couple little tweaks. -
Getting water? Not a problem. Finding some basic tools/weapons? Also not a problem. But that initial "securing food to buy you enough time to go hunting/find more food?" Yeah... really struggling with that after trying out Livonia for a couple hours (and many lives) last night. My hunger isn't temperature-related, just to be clear. Would love to hear what your strategy/workflow/priority list is for gearing up (for survival, not PvP) is.

Integrated Leaning/Support for Aiming?
DoctorScandalous replied to DoctorScandalous's topic in General Discussion
I think that if the stances/steadying based on objects isn't a go, having a bipod (unless you dumb it down to literally applying a steadying effect just by deploying it, period) probably wouldn't be very feasable either.
