Has DayZ started a trend?

Recommended Posts

DayZ obviously has the popular situation where a survivor foolishly shouts out "Friendly?" to anyone they come across, which most likely leads to their death. But recently I've been noticing this happen in pther games as well.

One example is when I was playing Red Dead Redemption online. I was entering a town when another player shouts on his mic: "Hey guy riding up on that hill, are you friendly!?"

I've also overheard other players shouting it to one another all over the place. So I was wondering, is DayZ the reason why everyone likes to run around shouting "friendly" at every player they meet, regardless of the game they're in?

P.S. I shot the kid who asked if I was friendly.

I normally don't shout "friendly". I wait for them to do so or to do something non hostile, other wise I'll shoot and ask questions later. But I normally have around 2500-4000 humanity because I don't want to be a bandit... I'll purposely avoid people to get it up some just because I don't believe in shooting first unless it seems like hostile intent.

I find myself asking people who walk up to close to me on the street "Friendly?"

Really? I just tackle them on the ground and scream "GIVE ME YOUR BEANS!!" in their face.

And then I spent 3 days in a cell, shouting "Fucking bandits, keeping me as a hostage isn't going to help. I have no loot!"

Edit; On-topic, though. No, I haven't noticed anything like that.

I find that if I go outside for a walk now I carry a backpack filled with canned goods and sodas. I never notice I'm doing it until people start staring at me while I eat cold chef boyardee on a park bench by the spoon full. Rock Bottom? I think not they don't even know if they can make it to the next block before they're canteen starts blinking.

Well... the other day in BF3 I ran into a guy around a corner and shouted REALLY loud FRIENDLY!!! and all of my clanmates were like WTF??

Really? I just tackle them on the ground and scream "GIVE ME YOUR BEANS!!" in their face.

Dayz is a bad habit, ive started eating a can of beans every half hour just to see how it compares tot he game, and all i can say is this.

Find a boat, no fuel no worries. eating a can of beans every half hour has now turned my arse into a fucking jet engine, I think if my character was farting half as much and as bad as I am after all these beans, the game would need to implement gas masks to keep players from falling unconscious randomly
