sostronk 334 Posted October 9, 2012 Jump into a server I have been working hard to get gear on. Just playing casually doing loot runs into industrial spawns for mechanical loot and basic supplies. I fill up some tents and repair two vehicles. Next day I come in after a good nights sleep and a hard day at work. Tents empty. One vehicle gone. One vehicle crashed because apparently they were too retarded to drive. So 20 hours of hard work down the drain. No point in the effort when you get griefed whilst offline and no way to protect yourself. No point doing anything but hunting down and killing everyone I can find. Some of these tents/vehicles need to be stored away from the server whilst offline. Otherwise there is never going to be a point to this game beyond PvP. It is a major reason why players like myself play as bandits. Until then, there is no other point to the game. See you in Cherno and Elektro.
Frop 33 Posted October 9, 2012 Yeah, I guess you would totally leave vehicles and tents alone when you stumble on them. It sounds like it's time to find a better hiding spot.

pieflavor 38 Posted October 9, 2012 pussyI learned as a loner I had no chance to even conserve half of my possessions, how about you look for a group of people to play with?

Never 237 Posted October 9, 2012 a major reason why players like myself play as bandits.Because players like yourself are to stupid to realise that repeatedly dying and seeing what happens on the next life )until you die again) is the whole point of the frigging mod.
MissSweeney 105 Posted October 9, 2012 Dude, if you worked so hard to get to that point, you should have hidden your vehicles and tents FAR better than it seems you did. I you did hide them REALLY REALLY well and someone else found them, then so they should go for a joy ride. I would.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) I don't mean to be harsh but this is basically a QQ thread. Your base got found, that's it really. I've had bases that haven't lasted a night but I've also managed to have one for over 8 weeks before it got found. It's part of the game. You need to think of somewhere original to hide things.P.s If you think a good location for a camp is either NE or far west then that's where your going wrong. That's the first place everyone looks. Also, putting a camp on a hill is not a good idea. Edited October 9, 2012 by Fraggle
ratiasu@hotmail.co.jp 122 Posted October 9, 2012 Don't hide vehicles near your tents...
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted October 9, 2012 This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the hackers magically finding everything with zero effort.I wouldn't mind a tent being tied to a player but that would raise even more problems.
Taiphoz 95 Posted October 9, 2012 honestly all you idiots saying hide your stuff better have no clue just how rampent that Navigator hack is and how inept the anti cheat is at detecting it.We recently did a test, we took 10 tents, put them up in the middle of no where literally right at the edge of the map right in one of the corners, we also moved 4 cars there, tents and cars were all empty we left the engines running, we sat for a few hours, you would not beleive the number of people who literally logged in, or spawned and then ran in a direct line right all the camp and all its vehicles, and not one of them got detected by battle eye or anti cheat gotcha thing.its staggering the number of people you play with every day and simply have no idea just how many of them are actually cheating.SO NO!..Until that shit gets fixed, or detected you can say to him, hide your stuff better, what you could suggest is that he hide his stuff as far north as possible, the only benefit to this is that he can hope some other noob has hidden his stuff closer to the hacker, we all know their lazy bastards and will take what ever is closest, also NEVER take high value cars, flatbeds, urals, leave them alone the hackers will ALWAYs go for them.I find sticking to the littl blue van, and bikes to be best.
V2_Danny 48 Posted October 9, 2012 If someone wants to find a camp, they will properly find one. First you go along the western map edge, and then along the northern, zigzagging the forrests there. And hiding a camp inland almost never works. Someone will find your camp at some point its inevitable.
Bludy 324 Posted October 9, 2012 it's almost useless hiding stuff..as a camp raider i can tell that who plays like me(main objective find camps) doesn't give up easily. i never destroy others camps, just steal a tent and a couple of weapons or meds. i come back everytime i need something. at the moment i'm searching the entire map's borders in two private hives, the only chance is to hide in the middle of the map, but it's not garantee that some random player would not spot your camp. and if there are helicopters (always run by groups) they'll find your cars and tents in half an hour.as a suggestion i found out that if you put only some essentials in the tent you won't be robbed so hard and you won't feel the pain of loosing too precious weapons. Zexis 127 Posted October 9, 2012 -snip-It's pretty lame. Here's to hoping the standalone rams an iron spike into the arse of every would-be cheater and sciddie. This is why I've stopped playing DayZ, hoping that the standalone is the Golden Goose it has the potential to be.
trichome (DayZ) 198 Posted October 9, 2012 I would tend to agree with Taiphoz on this, script kiddies are rampant on DayZ public servers. We have even had them try on our private DayZ servers needless to say they don't last very long and get a nice perma ban to go with their scripting efforts. I find myself avoiding our pub dayz server now and sticking with our private servers that we control.

Ofcourse your not going to see hackers running rampant on a private hive cause the owners can ban any that come on...we don't have that luxury with the Offical servers. sostronk 334 Posted October 9, 2012 I don't really care. Its limiting the gameplay. I want to branch out into things other than raping scrubs in this game. Turns out theres no point. Its easier to keeping my shit up by griefing others than it is to play nicely. I really don't see how people aren't seeing this. And really please stop giving me tips on how to hide tents. For real, Ive fucking placed them all over the map and lost them everywhere on the map. I didn't start playing this game yesterday. If Rocket doesn't implement a system in standalone where you don't have to be online 24 hours a day 7 days a week, all this game will ever be is bandits killing survivors. And yeah I went on a killing spree this afternoon. Had more fun doing that. Almost died once to a ghoster who logged after I killed his mate and then relogged while I was looting his mates body. One more hit and I was gone but I got that bitch and enjoyed it more than the 20 hours of loot farming to repair up vehicles on the weekend.
WalkerDown (DayZ) 296 Posted October 9, 2012 Hiding stuff: they will last less than a day due to the map hack (everyone can know their position without much effort), so there's no point in doing so. I doubt that someone here have really manage to hide a "base" longer than 2 days.. maybe some months ago, but today is almost impossible, unless you lock the server. If you did so... then you must play on a pretty bad (empty) server, where none else is playing except you (so no cheaters).Collecting a gear: after you reach the "top" (a couple of days) you have nothing more to do.. and even if you manage to "just" survive, you're going to die by a teleporter or by a server mass-kill. So no point to take care of your gear, and no matter how "good" you are, if you play regularry you'll find a cheater or a script kid that will kill ya with absolutely no skill. So, whenever the OP is in rage.. he's unfortunately right. Unless you're a masochist (that gets excited to be raped every hour or so), the only way to play today is: collect a weapon as fast as you can, ignore food, find other players and start PvP.. die (it's better to die in combat than dying because of a cheater) and repeat. In other a slow-paced CoD.PS: from last night the situation is a little better (BE managed FINALLY to ban two well know public cheats), the cheater presence has been reduced from 30% to less than 2% ... i'm still collecting data tho (24 hours aren't enough). But i'm pessimist and this situation won't last longer.

Frop 33 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) We've had a fair amount of tents and vehicles which went unnoticed for weeks at a time, despite having 10-20 players on during peak hours. Apart from a bunch of teleporting hackers last weekend I don't think anything was found illegitimately. Actually most of our compromised tents were at the borders of the map, any tents in the middle of the map remained hidden far longer (in fact this was the case on more than one server). Inception. 9443 Posted October 9, 2012 Ive had hundreds of tents that haven't lasted a night.Obviously you aren't hiding them well enough, or the server in which you hid them contained at least one hacker.
