This is a [YES] or [NO] idea (that my inner Jacobite has been thinking of) so stick a vote above your reply

Do you support a DayZ parliament of 15-20 members to discuss, support and endorse the suggestions of forumites?

After nearly 2 months on here, the GD forum is really aflood with repeat threads, or a few significant threads with 400+ replies that are impossible to keep up with.

I wholly endorse the vote threads rocket has put up in the last few days, and urge Lady Lightfoot to implement a working poll system (when s(he) has comfortably slipped out of that sensual neon-orange négligée and 8 inch pumps)

..But also as way for us to discuss with said representatives our ideas, to provide the dev's with more concise desires and feedback, reformatted into implementable concepts. (Not just 'omg wouldn't it be great if there was unicorns!')

There are a lot of great ideas, a lot of repeated ideas, and a lot of crap ideas. Also exploits that go unnoticed for longer than they should, etc. We have the capacity to do a lot of this work and allow the developers to focus on what matters.

Thoughts/Feedback?

Naturally I volunteer as world Zombologist Dictator but doubt that will go over well.

I have no idea what a forumite is, or what in the world you are proposing.

This is what happens when you like the green frogs down in Aussieland.

Yay from me, though.

May I also add that they must speak fluent English. I hate going through a thread to find that the post everyone is quoting the most is filled with errors and makes almost no sense.

Not for the forums, but I've had similar thoughts for the mod itself.

My long term goal is to rebuilt Chernarus into a modern day North European functional democracy, with everything that this entails: Regular elections, high taxes, lax prostitution legislation, socialized medicine and deathpanels for senior citizens(anyone above 22). Oh and guns and smoking are obviously banned and owning a pastel colored new beetles is mandatory for all citizens.

SURE

As long as things are nice and transparent and, obviously, rocket and co agree. Maybe a sticky thread that covers the major suggestions with pros/cons lists? The parliament would be the only ones who could add or edit these posts so that they stay nice and concise.

Nope.

This "parliament" would have carte blanche to filter out whatever ideas their arbitrary opinions deemed unworthy of the dev's attention, and the process of making ideas "more concise" or "implementable" would inherently involve whittling out parts of the original idea, or ignoring sections of the ensuing discussion - again, based on arbitrary preconceptions.

rocket and his team have things under control. If they lose control, they can hire a community manager to do this job in house and train him/her directly. They don't need a bunch of unqualified forum warriors who think they know what's best for the game to swoop in and clean house for them.

NO.

A group of people won't be able to make the right decisions. Great ideas only get done with one person in the lead.

Just give the mods bigger chainsaws. I'm against censoring on a forum, but the sheer volume of repeat threads ( which are usually moany OP's ) is staggering.

You should try some of the Arma 2 Urban Life servers i.e. TAKISTAN LIFE if you are looking for such a gameplay...such mods exists since a longer time with similar gameplay you are talking about.

no

why not set up your group of archivists and do it in a sub forum with a mod and maybe have it read only for non archivists, but NO to POLITICS !

a game of total freedom and what do people suggest... a parliament, like the thing that will in time eat your freedoms like beans as they gut you like a cow.

@ dallas, come to holland the land of taxed prostitution, smoking costs a fortune and guns are here, but only criminals have them. incl. cops.

Most are playing Takistan Life at the moment but you will find aswell other modes, no need to download anything just join the servers. (make sure you dont join with your activated DayZ mod)

You're basically describing the process of moderating the content posted by users of this forum, which would be the duty of moderators - moderators which we already have.

We have the capacity to do a lot of this work and allow the developers to focus on what matters.

Seeing as you haven't mentioned the moderators anywhere, I can only assume you're including them in your statement about giving the devs time to focus on what matters. Using this logic, you're proposing that a group moderate the forums in order to give the moderators more time to moderate the forums.

I don't like the idea of this purely on the basis that it is flawed. The current system of users discuss and suggest seems to be working pretty well - if an idea is good enough it goes in the suggestions forum. A small group with the power to pretty much sit in the way of the user and a suggestion is... no.

Simply put, the whole thing is unnecessary if the OP in the Suggestions thread is able to form his idea on paper and argue it out.

@Jorden: Germany wasn't the only nation in history to have concentrated power on a very small number of individuals/a single individual. In fact, it is one of hundreds and possibly thousands, if you consider every single ruler in history who conformed to the template of "one person in the lead". Whats more, the dev team actually discusses and refines ideas - it's not all obey-rocket-or-get-shot. Please don't draw parallels that don't exist between Rocket and the Nazis.
