Notches and ears.

Recommended Posts

Working off the concept of weapons being treated as individual items, I think that it would be cool if you could pick up a weapon, inspect it, and see that it has details such as a name carved into or notches for every person that past owners have killed with that weapon. As for a ligament system for earning the notches in the first place could be done by adding two ways of confirming kills; confirming the kill with binoculars, or if you get up close and personal to confirm your kill. For an additive bonus for those who are able to confirm their kills up close, they can take the ear off their victims body. The removal of an ear could be trophies to show you killed a someone like a notorious bandit, or for the notorious bandit, he could have a necklace of ears from the those he has pillaged.

That would be fine lol. I just thought that it would nice to have a visual (symbols of some sort) on players, or their weapons, that would show someones history, what type of player they were. I know that the pen and pad is meant for this but the more details a game has the better, right? Also adds type of customization of character visual.

using rings, that is a nice idea, also i think the player should be free to do the notches, freedom is one thing we must have, also having names tagged in the rifles could damage a little the guns, like 0.5%. No need to confirm kills, most people just kill, also confirming with binoculars sounds a lot like pvp hillies, as a pvp middle town man i dont confirm nor kill, softening up for hillies is one thing, so would i not be able to put some notches in there, yes i would because i can if want, killing is independent of customization.

I'm all for all your ideas on this.. rings, jewelery, thumbs yes!, scalps too, ears defentley.. my addition... TONGUES!

I would love to see a character introduced say after 20/30 murders & your character model changes to a maniac and you can collect disgusting organic trophies off victims(TONGUES!).. but you can only collect the peices of limbs etc once this "manic" character change has been reached else your trophies exist in the more humane sense of rings, jewelery, keys etc and if you found any of these fleshy trophies(TONGUES!) on a dead maniac when you are a new born n00b who just spawned on the beach 3 hrs ago your character model gets SHIT SCARED and whimpers or has a "panic attack" rather

Ooohh yeah keep dreamin buddeh ^__^

(TONGUES!)..

If your humanity reaches an abysmally low amount maybe the bandit would be a maniac and could deform corpses. There skin shouldn't change because that is leaving in stand alone anyway. In other post apocalyptic games the NPC bandits often have collections of skulls or other grotesque ornaments decorating their bases.

Once bases are implement, this would be a great way to give personality to a hideout/cavern

I can very well life with out being able to defile player corpses. Rocket said there would be a sort of Diary where your stats are recorded and other people will be able to pick it up, that's trophy enough for me. No need to cut up peoples bodies.

On the note of Notches on weapons, I like the idea of being able to scratch something into the side of your gun. It would really make you feel attached to your gun in a way. It's could be a very creative tool to draw you further into the game immersion wise. Obviously prone to abuse, what isn't these dayz?

I was concidering a simular idea to this, but with a more practical purpose (IMO).

While there is a large part of the dayZ community that is geared towards the deathmatching aspects of PvP, I also hear alot of people complaining that they don't want to kill but are inevitably forced to in self defence (or paranoia). So I think that players should be able to take 'trophies' from players they kill, but they should also have the option of 'paying respect' to the person they just killed - closing their eyes or putting the dead players jacket/shirt over their face (or anything else you can think of).

Maybe, just as more 'violent' players (as suggested by Liquidcactus & Vindicatior) can take more grotesque trophies, the more humane a player gets the more elaboratly they can pay their respects (eg. burial with wooden cross).

The key is - Both taking a 'trophy' and 'paying respects' should appear as part of the description of a body you examine (if it isn't represented visually in the game).

The reason I think this would add to the game is that both these actions can now help players guage the nature of the players in their area - It has the potential to turn the (mostly selfish) impulses of players into a interesting naritives (and/or tool) for other players.

Like the notches part. But cutting off the body parts should be a personal option to suit either playing style.

Also, why would you take parts that will decompose over time. Maybe bones would be a better trophy.
